Thanks for your time posting videos on your camper! I'm currently in the market to upgrade my 19' jayco bunkhouse and the Rockwood looks like it will fill the bill nicely. Thanks again!
We traded in a 17' bunkhouse for this...way more comfortable. We actually look forward to camping now, lol. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Great video guy’s, our kids just ordered this model in the 2022 and I know they will love it!
Thank you, and I know they will love it for a long time to come.
Great video. Thanks for sharing your RV with us. It will surely help with my decision making. Happy camping and God Bless.
Thank you!
Here 2024 Shopping for one of these and I’m sold❤.They have a door on the back end now.Good review.God bless.
Nice walk thru!!
Good stuff! ..we ordered the 2507s, thank you
Thank you
I fall in loved with this rig…so we gonna pick up very very soon. Thank you and will definitely help us out. We are newbie rv owner.
Congratulations on your new RV!
@@BassinNmore learning so much for watching u guys. Ty ty for the all the info. Definitely we gonna use it all:) stay safe
I'd love to see a video on how you pack the trailer for a camping trip with the kids!
Great video request! I love this camper!
Great update.
Thank you
looking close at this model... wish I had a place to put 26ft. thanks for sharing !
That was a challenge for us as well, but we made it work. Thanks
Thanks guys. I’m glad you are still happy with it.
Great video, me and my wife are looking at investing in an RV someday
Thank you. We started with a smaller much cheaper one and worked our way up to this one. Best of luck to you!
Thanks for the info, definitely helps out a lot...
It's crazy how much difference there is in payloads from truck to truck, I have an f150 with a payload of 1843lbs, and I was worried about going over, but not now. Lol
Have you run into any warranty issues, things that have broke/ minor repairs etc
I have a friend that also has a dodge ram like mine and his payload is 1,050lbs. We have not had any warranty issues, but have had a few things go wrong. We are actually going to record that video this holiday weekend while out in it.
Thanks!!
Nice camper!!!
I had a chance to see a murphy bed model for a few minutes. I noticed the one we saw has a open gap behind the sofa. We have a cat and wondered if this could be blocked off to keep the cat from getting into the storage bay. Also I saw that the backing to the sofa was not covered with wood so I am concerned if bins are below bouncing while on the road will it rip the fabric backing on the sofa? Thanks for any insight.
Great videos, I love that trailer, my question is: How does it feel when pulling the trailer? both highway and dirt roads. Thank You.
It pulls great. With the rounded front end it helps deflect the with while you have a head wind. I dare say it pulls easier in wind then the 17' avenger we previously had at only 3500lbs loaded.
Great review! We are waiting to get our 2021 2509s. You folks convinced us to pull the trigger over several other trailers based on the review. One question. How did you remove the panel for the hot water heater and water filter inside?
It is held in with two screws at the bottom. I just removed the screws and panels. That way if I need to get to them while out camping it is easier.
@@BassinNmore thanks for the info
If you watch Haylett RV, Josh shows how you can access the bathroom without having to open the slide or crawl around the table.
I just checked that out and wow, I would never of thought to try flipping the table like that. Thanks for that we are going to give it a try.
I think the 2509S comes from the older model. We have a 2017 2509S and it is 25ft 9in tongue to bumper.
That makes sense. Thank you!
Great info. We are waiting on our 2021 to arrive in June. I also have a Ram like yours and was wondering what weight distribution hitch you use and what weight rating it is. I was thinking of going with a 1000lb just to be safe.
I am on the road, but my video about how to hitch up has a link in the description with the hitch I am using ua-cam.com/video/wS_LwL6euHY/v-deo.html check it out here please

Have you done a video on the truck you use for towing this?
Not yet, but can do one in the next week or two if you would like? It is a 2017 Ram 1500 5.7 with the 3.92 rear axle capable of 10,500lbs towing and 1500lbs gvwr.
Just picked up our Mini Lite 2509 yesterday, so stoked to hit the road. Quick random question, did you guys get a mattress topper for your's? If so, does the bed still fold up nicely with it on? The stock mattress feels like it was designed by Fred Flintstone.
Lol, that mattress definitely feels like it is from the stone age! Yes, we added a 6 inch memory foam topper. So comfortable now, and still folds up perfectly. Hope that helps out! Thank you!
@@BassinNmore Did you have to trim the topper anyhow? You said the mattress was a shorter one.
@@demos74dxs no we did not trim it at all. Probably the reason regular fitted sheets fit well.
We have the same trailer but a 2019 model. What size A/C 13,500 or 15,000 BTU's? What type size axles and make and size of tires? Any solar panels like roof or fold up? Do you also have the front draft around the front bed area due to the front side access panels not sealing tightly? Any upgrades or short comings?
Ac is the 13,500 btu, axle size I am not sure, but it is the torflex rubber torsion suspension axles, tires are the Goodyear endurance 205/75R14, no solar panels just a wired hookup ready, yes we get a draft from the the front bed area when the bins are not locked or sealed completely, no upgrades yet, but planning a couple soon like the ac assist to help it start easier, and back up camera, it camenpre wired for one. Hope this helps. Thanks
Hi! Great video!! I have a 2104s with same dinette set up..what size sheet and memory foam topper would you recommend? Thanks in advance!! 😊
We just use standard queen size sheets and topper. The mattress is only 5 inches shorter than a normal queen, so it fits pretty well.
@@BassinNmore awesome! Thank you. We bought our camper last fall, and we’ll be using it for the first time once the weather warms up (we’re from Maine). We’re doing a couple local weekend trips, and we’ll be headed up north for a 2 week vacation, with another couple at one of the lakes in July. I definitely want to make sure they’re comfortable using the dinette “bed”..thanks again for your quick response, and help,.The camper thing is VERY new to us, and trying to gather as much info and pointers from veteran RVers…peace! ✌️😌
In Canada and I belive in the US....You need to subtract the families weight and stuff from the Rams combined weight and cargo sticker. My Ram is 1372 pounds. We weigh (4 people) with our stuff about 700 pounds. 1372 minus 700...We are left with 672 allowed for hitch weight. Is that right? 🤔 Thanks for taking the time to make the video.
That is definitely one way to do it! The way I figure it out is tongue weight of the camper in this case 765lbs. The ram cargo weight is 1340. 1340 minus 765 equals 575lbs of cargo weight left in the truck.
@@BassinNmore looks like I need to get back into the gym. Need to get back some hitch weight. 🤣🤣👍
@@chefbillyx that makes two of us, lol.
Do you have a description on how you adjusted your weight distributions hitch with the airbags?
No I don't. What I have learned from my research is to fill the airbags up first (I do 30psi), then make sure your trailer is leveled (I used a bubble level on the floor inside the trailer), then adjust the ball of your hitch to be around the same higth or 1" higher then the top of your ball coupler for the trailer (I did 1" higher). Once I did this I only raise a quarter inch in the front end and the truck and trailer are both level with one another. Hope this helps you.
Right leg will not go down completely and pin doesn't lock in place on our 2020 forest river Rockwood 2509s Murphy bed We purchased it from a one owner and he told us he only used it a few times, my husband only slept in it twice and put it back up.,,,,3 time it would not work to go down and the black pin will not move..have not seen anything in the storage to stop it from working. Can you tell us what we can do to fix this problem. Thank you!
I am not sure how to fix it, but would think that maybe greasing it?
How comfortable is the couch? How do the windows work, it doesn't look like they slide ? Thanks!
Yes the couch is comfortable and the windows open outwards at the bottom so you can still use them in a rain storm .
Does your camper slide work well? We have a 2506S that see saws going out and coming in.
It definitely seems that it is not going in and out the same as when we first got it, but it still works. I do know they need a yearly service as well. Some oil or grease on the guides.
Hey guys thank you for all your videos, about how much did you pay ?
It was $30k before trade and down payment.
Hi, I just bought a 2022 Rockwood minilite 2509S with the gas electric fridge not the 12 bolt dc fridge, since it uses propane to cool fridge when electric is not available, so I guess u can't run fridge or have gas turned on while on the rode, and must wait or can u run the fridge while on the road
Congratulations on your purchase! Thats really up to you. We do leave the propane on and the fridge cooling while driving. With that being said i would just smell around the camper for propane when you stop.
Do you think I could tow this with a 2015 to 2017 Suburban with Max trailering package? Specs say that max towing is 8300lbs, but i'm wondering if it'll work. Thanks
8300 lbs would tow it, but the big question is what is your max cargo capacity. You should be able to find it in the drivers door. It is on a sticker about the tires.
Great Video!!
Question:
How do you take off those little circular airvents above the bed?? I tried with a butter knife, but not popping off. (I have water seeping out of one! :(
If you have water coming out of one then you have a spot on the roof that needs to be resealed. That is the only place for water to get into the air vents. They are difficult and might even break, but they just pop out with enought pressure.
@@BassinNmore thanks. we did finally pop them off, we sealed up the solar panel mounts better, and so far , so good. However, packing up to go home from camping yesterday, and we could not get the slide to go all the way in. we thought it was power at first, but accounted for that. It would make a loud noise like grinding or skipping gears or somthing but would not move. Any ideas what is happening?? how do we access the motor etc. Our trailer came with no manuals. :/
@@AH99999 I hinestly have no clue. I have not had any issues with the slide out, and have not familiarized myself with it yet. Sorry.
Our 2020 Rockwood Murphy bed leg will not go down and stay for sleeping please help
I am not sure why, but on ours we occasionally have to pull the leg to get it all the way out.
Tried plugging in our coffee pot to the pop up outlets on the kitchen counter, the device that says”push me”. Would not accept the plug. Do I need some type of adapter?
I don't drink coffee (I know, I know), but I don't know why it wouldn't plug in. I will check it out when I get home.
Thanks, it’s brand new. I had to push hard to get the plug in. All set. Thanks
Does this unit come with a generator and if not what size do you recommend
It doesn't come with a generator. Below is a l8nk to the generator I use. I have since installed an easy start on the AC unit on the camper and now it is way better. Video on that will be out soon.
ua-cam.com/video/WJSt2h-vHKQ/v-deo.html
How do we turn off our radio as it ducks the battery fry.
I don't believe you can turn it off, but we have never had it drain our batteries.
Do you think for 2 people maybe 3 a 22 or 21 foot would be sufficient?
Yes, depending on the floor plan. Our last camper was just 17' with two bunks in the back, dining room table that folded down to a twin, and a queen up front sleeping 5 comfortably.
So your payload is 1350 pounds fir the truck? We have a Chevy 1500 with 1692 payload. Has me nervous! Great follow up video!
Has ne nervous everytime, but we maintain well, and have had no issues even is severe wind storms that are blowing over semi trucks in front of us.
I also have a chevy 1500, and we are thinking about getting this specific RV, so do you think we’ll be fine??
@@jessel1031 what are the specs of your truck? Engine, rear axle? Max cargo capacity (found on the sticker inside the driver's door frame)?
@@BassinNmore This is my truck’s info:
Engine: 5.3
Transmission: 8 speed auto
GVWR: 6900 lbs
GCWR: 15,000 lbs
RGAWR: 3800 lbs
Curb Weight: 5008 lbs
Max payload: 1892 lbs
Conventional twr: 9800 lbs
Max tongue weight: 980 lbs
Gooseneck twr: 9700 lbs
Max tongue weight: 1455 lbs
Rear Axle: 3.23 Ratio
What do you think? Im new at this. This will be our first RV, and we are kinda nervous but at the same same excited about it, we got two little ones, so this RV is perfect for us, I just gotta make sure it’s safe for me to tow it with my truck.
@@jessel1031 from the specs you have provided, I personally would have no issues towing this camper with your truck, and would say you are completely safe in doing so, just as long as you don't exceed the max cargo capacity of 1850lbs for your setup. You will have a tongue weight of 700lbs to 950lbs (depending on how much you load the camper), leaving you around 900lbs to 1150lbs for you, your passagers, weight distribution hitch, and anything else you want to carry in the truck. You are actually better of then I am. Hope this helps!
@2:14 they call it a Camp Queen.
Can you sit in the slide out if it's only partially out? Meaning you stop at a Walmart but want to stay under the radar. Will it damage the slide if it's not fully out? Thanks for these great informative videos.
While it is all the way in you will damage it by sitting in it, but once you take it out just a little it sits flush with the floor and should be fine to sit in. We ate lunch in it once with it only half way out. But at the same time I am not positive nor an expert so it is just my opinion on it.
How do you guys like the Murphy bed honestly?
We have no issues with it. We really lije having the extra space with the couch, and we leave all our pilliws and sheets on, so when we pull the bed down it is ready to go.
Thanks for the video! I always seem to have some takeaways from them. It’s nice to see someone else discuss items on the same rig.
Question:
Do you guys lock your batteries?
Do you plan on doing videos about operating items such as the Solar Power or other items while boondocking?
TIA
Thank you!
Which dealer for you get yours from?
Camper world in Idaho Falls
Any water leaks anywhere in rain?
None anywhere
What is the dimensions of the passthrough?
94" × 29" × 11 1/2"
is the rockwood 2509S rated for any 4seasons camping, It is a great looking camper and great layout
Yes it is. It has a fully enclosed underbelly with tank heaters.
@@BassinNmore do they have a minimum temp range
@@blackdiamonddave2392 honestly have no idea on a minimum temperature, but can say that we have been in it down to the low 20's for a night, and we where very comfortable. Now that was dry camping and we went through a lot of propane in that one night.
One question I have is what was the out-the-door price of the unit
$30k before trade and down payment.
How much is this caravan?
$30k
I want to buy a caravan, I'm from Oman
Hooow much iam I looking at
At the time it was $30k
This trailer cannot be called "Lite" by any standard...
Why not? 27' total length from hitch to rear bumper at 5200lbs dry. Can you show me another camper the same length that weights less? Just saying. Anyways best of my knowledge rockwood uses the name to identify the models. The highest end models are called ultra lite, but there is nothing ultra lite about them, lol.
@@BassinNmore Yes, a Lance 2285, 300lbs lighter, 300LB less tongue weight and 2000 LB cargo load. I don't need that big a trailer so I'm looking at a Lance 1685 that weighs under 4000 LBS, and still has a full queen bed, not a cheater queen bed that you have in a much larger rig, just sayin...
@@rogeeeferrari to each their own brother. We love the murphy bed, it opens the camper up so much while entertaining kids, friends, and family. Jayco does make some amazing campers, and I would be lying if I said we didn't consider one ourselfs. Thank you for watching and commenting.
