After watching a gameplay from the remake, I just had to check this vid to see if it was just me that felt how lackluster the intro was. With the original, I can feel their panic and sense of urgency to land...... but in the remake, I felt as if I'm in a simulation ride in Disneyland. And then, there's Nicole, lol.
Women are just depicted more realistically now. In the lore, nicole is 39 when she died. It might just be that in the original game, she looked too young for her age.
What happened to Hammond's lines? He's the captain of the ship yet Isaac's calling the shots. Isaac might be an engineer but Hammond sounded WAY more experienced in the first one, even brushing off Kendra easily.
Isaac always tends to jump on the opportunity to share his expertise like that. Remember how on the eudora, when it's struck by mines he starts sharing ideas on the fly, and Norton says "since when do you give the orders", and Isaac answers: since nobody has a plan. This is kind of a throwback (or throwforward?) to that. I know that lots of the tension comes from this group sounding rather on edge all the time, but the new version comes across to me as if they're more on top of things. The only criticism I have, is that the intonation is sometimes so chill you can't properly hear what they're saying when the flightlaunge fight starts, I (Isaac) really doesn't hear kendra telling him to run, and also the mission objective doesn't come up. On the necromorph animation side, some of them slide on the ground without moving their limbs, I hope that's something that will be fixed in the release version.
Isaac was brought along because of his engineering expertise, because for the most part a large number of issues on the Ishimura are engineering in nature. Yet in the original game, Hammond was pretty much calling the shots on everything *including* the engineering parts, which kinda made Isaac into essentially an errand boy/gopher. Here, Isaac does flex his engineering expertise when Hammond and Kendra ask for it, making him feel like he's more a part of the team with his own agency.
@@CosmicD Pretty lousy throwforward since you're referring to DS3 events and Isaac is a completely different person in that one, having gone through not one, but two nightmarish experiences which would make a squeamish person lose their marbles. @@ZahrDalsk It’s not a compliment. I didn’t have the time to bother with you until you decided to open your big mouth. You make excuses with every video game remake just because you don’t like them while ignoring any of their positive qualities. The Dead Space remake is made by Motive Studio because they want to revive fan interest in the franchise after 9 years of inactivity. They want to see if there is enough interest for them to continue making games for Dead Space. And going back on what you said: -Not everything in the game is “brown and grimey”. The Ishimura's rooms still retain much of their color palette. It's just the darkness being more prevalent here. The “grime” you stated represents the entire chaos the ship is in. The yellow light is always there. It is just emphasized to give the game an eerie feel. -What greebles? Do you mean easter eggs in the video games? These are made as references to Dead Space 2 and Dead Space 3 to further connect to the lore. -Why does a person’s skin color matter about the quality of the game? -Do you mean physical looks or the voice? That’s just Gunnar Wright reprising his role. The difference between the original and remake is that the latter has Isaac a voice to speak to Kendra and Hammond on audio logs. -How are the animations low quality to you? Does the scene involving the Infector turning the Captain into a Enhanced Slasher and the Twitcher’s movements in the trailer not convince you? Dead Space and Mass Effect are two different things. Part of Andromeda’s failure is because the Frostbite engine can’t handle things beyond its limitations as it is an RPG. Dead Space is a horror survival game separated by chapters controlled by only one person. -That’s because Necromorphs are given a graphical upgrade. Or are you referring to the peeling system where the Necromorphs have layers of their flesh flayed off as an indicator of how much damage they receive? And those humans turned into Necromorphs were long dead before Isaac and company arrived, so technically they were already rotting.
As far as I can tell, removing the Lens Flare from the sun was a massive mistake 😂 I think that one single detail is the foundation that everyone’s argument against the remake is based on. In the long run, I think my only complaints about the remake are the Lens Flare missing from the sun and the brightness from Isaac’s helmet getting turned almost down to 0. The Lens Flare is a minor detail compared to his dim helmet imo. His helmet used to light up dark corners and it just fit the atmosphere so well.
The remake is awful, it not giving you the same feel like the first 1 ( which is a big mistake ) and why isaac girlfriend look like his mom now? And why isaac tell the crew what to do, when the first 1 the captain are the 1 giving orders? This is not the same dead space I know anymore, just because the graphics looks better, doesn't mean that it better than the original, I dont feel the horror in remake version which is really bad for a horror game.
@@harryshum4139 what's there to understand? I actually do like most of what I'm seeing in the remake, but I don't understand why Nicole sounds way less distressed in the remake than she did in the original? Is there a context behind the video message that I'm forgetting?

Glad I m paying only 1$ to play this game on EA and will definitely just keep my old dead space when the trial period is over because this game might look better but the flow of the story is completely broken form the beginning.
What I like about the remake is the crew isn’t commanding Isaac to do everything. Isaac actually takes the initiative to do things on his own instead blindly following orders.
yeah, he is the one clarifying the others. After all he's the engineer who they brought for the trip. So the characters are more fleshed out, Kendra mentions she's the computer expert, Chen was the pilot, Johnston was second security. And you get the idea they're working together, yes.
Most things can be ignored, but when they showed Isaac PUT ON the helmet??? That's where I draw the damn line, the suit building the helmet on you animation was kino, L devs
It’s more faithful to DS1, as you can see him doing it in the original intro as well. The telescopic helmets are added to dead space 2, and the crafting benches to ds3 which makes no sense from a lore point of view that the scaf has more powerful suit and crafting technology 200 years back in time. It always took me out of the experience. Him putting the helmet on is so iconically ds1. While in ds2 they had these more sleek looking suits with that telescopic helmet feature. I found it weird the vintage suits had it too. I think they should have had 2 animations and use the manual one for ds1 inspired helmets. But I guess they didn’t want to do the extra work for that. it just seems absurd from a technical point of view to see t these ds1 buckets grow on Isaac’s head like that.
The cool Iron Man-like retracting helmets were only a thing introduced in Dead Space 2. In the original Dead Space, the helmet had to be put on manually; you can even see this in the original footage on the left of the video where you see Isaac put the helmet on.

I did post this video on the steam forums, reddit, twitter and the facebook group. You're gonna have some eclectic responses. I think that UA-camrs who already have a loyal fanbase have a more positive response but I'm writing a personal blog and I get my stuff out there on several channels. It's also common for each game to have a certain "outrage focus". I find Nicole more natural looking than in the first dead space, because you can see more facial features and expression in this day and age. I think you can say nicole looks too old but not everyone has to agree and I'm going to defend my position too. It's part of the debate. As these are very subjective things. Some guys think 30 years women "'look old". Some think some 60 year olds look young. It's an eye of the beholder thing but if people are going to be hyperbolic and toxic about it... don't prevent them from exposing how they regard women :P You can expect every youtube chat section in the future to be full of "nicole old".
Rose-tinted glasses as I see it. Too bad, entire game is brown and grimey now, all light is yellow. Pointless greebles all over every surface. Posters around the Ishimura have White and Asian people replaced with blacks for no reason. Isaac no longer looks like a blue collar worker, he looks like a whiny lawyer or journalist. Animations are very low quality which is no surprise since this team made Mass Effect Andromeda. The Necromorphs look like rotting corpses instead of recently-murdered & reanimated humans. Etc. It's a demake.
@@ZahrDalsk Well, you do you.
@@harryshum4139 I will thanks and I won't be giving a penny to EA and I will continue to point out how atrociously bad this demake is wherever EA shills it :)
And going back on what you said:
-Not everything in the game is “brown and grimey”.
Hooly shit the new one is so bad it's ridiculous
The remake is awful, it not giving you the same feel like the first 1 ( which is a big mistake ) and why isaac girlfriend look like his mom now? And why isaac tell the crew what to do, when the first 1 the captain are the 1 giving orders? This is not the same dead space I know anymore, just because the graphics looks better, doesn't mean that it better than the original, I dont feel the horror in remake version which is really bad for a horror game.
You don’t understand anything at all, do you?
@@harryshum4139 what's there to understand? The remake doesn't give the same horror as the old 1, instead it's more like a action movie, dev already explained in the past why they mute main cr, cause it's make you feel like you in the game, and ofcourse isaac doesn't look like a wimp in dead space, and his girlfriend doesn't look like his mom, and in dead space lore, his girlfriend doesn't look like middle aged women, she somewhere 30 and between, the vibe is bad, that's my opinion.
@@harryshum4139 You're the one who doesn't understand anything mister SHILL
I actually do like most of what I'm seeing in the remake, but I don't understand why Nicole sounds way less distressed in the remake than she did in the original? Is there a context behind the video message that I'm forgetting?
The original she was shaken by the terror in the remake she's probably tired from the sound of it I mean anyone would be if your were a medical officer dealing with casualties and add up the sudden outbreak and the dead adding up dealing with it with no sleep to speak then locking yourself in a room with said dead things trying find a way in probably looking into too much but I guess it's up to you
In the remake there's a context in the secondary objectives on why she looks tired
Николь даже и во второй части очень выглядит молодо . а сейчас ей все за 55 лет )

they gone woke. no thanks pal.
I don’t think u know what woke is
@@StierSage Oh he does... You obviously don't. 30 secs into the game they had to lesbify Kendra who'd never spoken about her sexuality/partner/relationship in the entire OG Dead Space. And Nicole looks like Isaac's granny, not his younger girlfriend. I just hope they at least manage to nail the atmosphere and gameplay... Still, will think really hard whether to support this woke nonsense...
The dialogue is different to Kendra doesn't get corrected by Hammond
@sirdudeloot 我不同意。听一听再一次。
@@Thedennati Sincerely, understand the comprehension of language here. This wasn't a sudden woke-ification of the series-- your disagreement means nothing. Kendra is saying something from Isaac's point of view, since the girlfriend is question is Nicole herself. If you're reading her being a lesbian, you're looking for something to get mad about.
Yeah the new graphics look good, but why put so much work into making idle banter that doesn't even feel right. Your ship almost gets turned into scrap, there's not a single crew member of the original rig in sight, the place looks like it's slowly starting to fall apart and they act like it's a stroll through the park. And the worst offender THE HELMET DOESN'T ASSEMBLE ITSELF 0/10 would not recommend.
Whenever i look at Isaac's gf i see Hillary Clinton lol
Hate to point it out dawg but in the first game the helmet assembling itself wasn’t a thing. Dead space 2 is where that was introduced.
@@nugg3tz347 I was about to say lmao
The people in this comment section really would complain about anything
Nah we just have actual standards
Consoome demake
I knew there was something wrong in the intro, was quite different of what I remembered. And I truly thought it was isaac's mom on this one.... not to mention isaac voice acting sucks badly (i prefer him silent) and all the conversations sound forced. Glad I m paying only 1$ to play this game on EA and will definitely just keep my old dead space when the trial period is over because this game might look better but the flow of the story is completely broken form the beginning.
I personally liked Hammond and Kyne's original voice actors a bit better. They sounded more unique.
That helmet animation was only made in DS2. Also, who knows, maybe we'll get a badass suit upgrade and you'll get you whish.
Imagine being so dumb you criticize the game for something actually in the original. The "sliding helmet" first showed up in 2.
The original suit did not had that feature. Maybe to ones you pick up during gameplay will.
Graphics of original looks sparse, flat and washed out, remake has more detail, but on PC you can enhance the original to make look more modern and next-gen ua-cam.com/video/jMQSGnijaj8/v-deo.html
There is a livestream dedicated to the art of dead space and how they upgrade the levels with more dense interior and details to make it feel more modern and industrial. The original still holds up if you play it on its own but you see how spartan it looks compared to the remake very clearly in these comparisons.

Uglyfying women in every single remake, making them unlikable boss b!+
What's with all the negative comments? Like, nobody seems to see any positives in this.
It's an eye of the beholder thing but if people are going to be hyperbolic and toxic about it... don't prevent them from exposing how they regard women :P
You can expect every youtube chat section in the future to be full of "nicole old".
Rose-tinted glasses as I see it. I played the original back in 2010, have replayed it and Dead Space 2 a couple of times more since then, and even I can tell that the Remake improves in a lot of ways over the original. These people just don't seem willing to admit that in a lot of things, the Remake looks better. Hell, when I heard about the remake I replayed Dead Space again, and all the blocky models and low fidelity textures just jumped out at me on my rig, even with all settings maxed out.
@@StrikeNoir105E yep. I agree.
@@CosmicD that's the only thing I see. Personally, I don't find this perfect, by any means. Actually, I dislike a number of things, like how Nicole delivers some of her lines, and some of the survivor encounters (the "lady that kills the patient and then herself" is a big standout, that scene was remade into something absolutely tasteless).
@@StrikeNoir105E Yeah man, it's all rose tinted glasses. Just stop paying attention to the comically bad animations, the awful model changes, the necromorphs looking like generic zombies and a whole laundry list of pointless changes made for the sake of it.

Just a bunch of edgy idiots on the internet.
