    Just so that you're aware, you're miles off about the 128 gb fitting 'one, maybe two' games. We don't know how large most games will be on the Q3 yet, but the Q2 only has a couple of games that are around 10 gb or more. Yes, there's a crazy large Medal of Honor game, but everything else, and I do mean everything, is tiny by comparison. The smaller Q3 will almost certainly fit an average of 10-15 games on it. Or, likely a few more even. And, if you favor smaller experiences, it'll probably fit 30-50 or more. I can barely count how many games on Q2 are less than 1 gb.
    For the average person taking a punt on VR who doesn't know that they're much of a gamer or care all that much, the smaller headset should be more than adequate.

      Thanks SO much Poemiserable, like I've mentioned several times in the comments below... I'm a noob at this Quest thing so any info is most appreciated. This is my first Stand Alone headset so my only frame of reference is PCVR which games are getting close to 100GB now. Anyway, I still think an extra $150 is totally worth it for 4x the storage, but nice to know that it isn't necessary. I'd really like to see this in as many new peoples hands as possible so if the $499 version is adequate that is good to know. Appreciate the comment.

      You're most welcome@@GYGOtv. Great video, by the way. For more context, I'll list a few random super popular games on Q2 with their sizes. SuperHot is less than 2 GB, Population One is 4.8 GB, BONELAB is 6.64 GB, Beat Saber is 1.45 GB, Red Matter 1 and 2 are 1.4 GB and 5.36 GB respectively, After the Fall is 3.39 GB, Walking Dead and Resident Evil 4 are two of the largest games on the entire platform at a little over 6 and 8 GB respectively. Most games are like 1-3 GB. Really, the only outlier I've seen is Medal of Honor, which is crazily 41 GB but there's literally nothing else like that on the entire platform. At 12.6 GB, I think Walking Dead: Chapter 2 might be the second largest game on Quest. Anyway, if these games get patches for Q3, they'll grow a bit, but likely not a lot. It's safe to say that 128 GB will suffice for most light gamers for quite a long time, especially given how terrible the attach rates are.

      The new Asgard game will be 21 Gb to be released in December 2023, however I do agree that is not the rule today, probably in a few years that will change but by then we all be looking forward for quest 4

      @@NirvaGTThanks for the update, I was shocked to hear games are that small. Makes me worry that the graphics aren't going to even be close to PCVR. I guess I'll know in a couple weeks. So at say 20GB average, that is only 6 games which still isn't a lot IMO. I still recommend the upgrade to 512GB to help future proof a little. Just my 2 cents so far.

    Mixed virtual reality is 100% the future, just not in a big bulky device on your face. In 50 - 100 years when computers are infinitely smaller that they can be integrated into your prescription glasses, that’s when I see mixed reality to be a thing.

My goal is for people to find the right headset to meet their needs and in most cases the Quest fits that bill. Great video. If it makes you feel better, I think it's the ongoing revenue from subscriptions and game purchases in their store that really supports them. As well as any data harvesting, but they decoupled facebook login which helped a lot. I've bought the Quest 3 as an upgrade to the HP Reverb G2, easiest decision I've ever made - infact I bought 2, one for my brother as well. Looks a solid all around headset. I've seen enough opinions on PCVR encrypted video to know you can easily surpass the G2 picture quality if you have a decent system, so my 13900K RTX 4090 should do well in the Quest 3 for PCVR, and I can upgrade to the 14900K RTX 4090 Ti as well if required. 👍

    As for PCVR use, you would think that with the much faster XR2 Gen2 chip, theoretically, it should be able to decode the video coming from the PC a lot faster thus possibly seriously reducing the visual compression. This is the problem with the Quest-2 and Pico 4, especially the Pico 4, it has the same panel resolution as the Reverb G2 but yet looks nowhere as good as the G2, I have both and for sim racing and even flight sims (MSFS), anything in the distance (looking down a race track, the farther you look, the more you can see the compression in the form of loss of detail) whereas it's still very clear in the G2. This is my biggest gripe with stand alone HMDs, what's the point of upping the resolution if the image quality will look like hell due to compression for PCVR. But then again, they don't want you to use PCVR, they want to make money selling stand alone games on their respective stores.
    The Pico 5 will have higher res, and the top of the line model (Pico 5 Pro Max) will also have Display Port connection, but it's price tag will be over $1k USA. That's a little too pricey for me.
    Oh yeah, the Pico 5 will have 3 models, Pico 5, Pico 5 Pro and Pico 5 Pro Max, the first two will have the same resolution (roughly similar to the Aero) the Pro Max will be in the 3k x 3k range, can't remember the exact numbers. Each model has different launch dates in 2024.

      Great comment Jackr.749! That is certainly something I plan to look at when I actually get one myself! My old Vive Pro has bad compression too in wireless mode so I know what to look for. Hoping you are right and that XR2 can do a good job. I doubt it will be as good as wired but hoping it is acceptable. For me I will continue to use either the Crystal or Aero for my sims but I am curious about how good the wireless will be on the Quest 3. Apparently the video signal is encoded and set to the headset as data where it is decoded to make the image. People do recommend a good cable for a quicker data transfer, and many recommend the Kiwi cable as it is light, good quality and fast data transfer ( amzn.to/3LI1Cw8 ) Almost everyone says don't buy the overpriced Meta cable. One other note since you mentioned the USB-C on the front of your computer... that seems to do better at keeping the headset charged (better power delivery than a USB-A), so you might see if you can find a good USB-C to USB-C if you want that perk. Best thing you can do is buy quest3( in your case i would probably upgrade that Logitech wheel 1st:)) and only use it for pcvr then they probably only lose money on the sale but you are probably wrong on the 512gb version its just not worth it most people play only a few games at a time and they are much smaller size its a mobile platform. You are right not sure why these companies keep pushing MR its just a gimmick that budget should have went into eye tracking would provide foveated rendering and extra in game features using it in games like on psvr2.

    So Mixed reality is going to be good. But you are thinking about the wrong usecase. Even with the Quest Pro now You can Use Virtual desktop and the Oculus Browser in Multitasking to create a Two monitor Setup Being able to put a Big screen on your wall to Pancake game on with having a moveable interactable screen beside you is great. Meta seem like they are going to expand that.
    But Forget VD. You can Sideload a Browser like Brave, Then sideload GeForce Now and Game pass, Sideload Discord and with modest to good internet (40Mbps+) you basically have a 3 monitor Setup. Immursed Lets you do that using your PC power. With Spacial anchors coming to Q3 for Home environment Being able to customise your actual environment will be cool. MR Will have cool games and experiences. But what MR will ultimately let you do is replace Devices you already use for Virtual ones with added benefit of Freedom

      Hi LionheartTM, yes I guess I wasn't clear... I mean MR Gaming, obviously the other use cases like you mention are going to be a thing. I just think MR games are going to be more of a fad. @@GYGOtv The games them selves. There is potential for great experiences. Nintendo Style games would work very well in MR. But also Imersive games can be improved by MR. Ill give an example. Imagine WDS&S But instead of the camp being the bus. The camp is your Room. You could put Weapon racks on your walls and bring trophies back and decorate your room. Not only would it make the game more personal but naturally giving you a passthrough break as part of the game would be good. Lets go from a different hypothetical angle. Imagine if Pancake games could add AR features. Say BG3 during events where you talk to people appeared in your room and actually talked to you. Or other games let you pull out UI elements in to the AR space. Like character sheets, Maps. Things like player housing in games. The Housing is your own home and items you collected in game can be used to decorate your house. turn your desk in to a crafting station etc. That is Very possible it just needs an environment app running on the Quest with a video streamer. A universal app could be made or Studios could make per game apps. OFC this would take Pancake studios taking interest to do such a thing But its 100% possible. Hell its something Modders could do.

      @GYGOtv  Рік тому

      @@LionheartTMI hear you, but I those scenarios just don't interest me. I'd rather be in a virtual world not stuck in my house, and coming back to my room from say BG3 would just be immersion breaking. Again, I hear what you are saying and I might be in the minority but for me bringing back trophies and "decorating" my house doesn't do much because guess what... nobody else is going to see it unless they have MR going too. Again, this might be exciting at first but I think the novelty will wear off very quickly. Just my opinion but I guess we will see. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed comment. I do appreciate your point of view.

      Quest 3 not only is standalone (no wires) it is also AR and VR both Worlds together.
      PSVR 2 is VR only, no PC compatibility, you need to have a PS5 too.

    not a big upgrade from the Quest 2. No eye tracking, or facial tracking, I know that's more for Quest pro line but even the Res jump is not huge, the fov seems to be the best thing but that is to be seen. This is for people that are interested in QUEST exclusives running better, but I already have a beefy PC and only interested in things that improve that experience. I may have to wait for what Pico or Valve have to offer.
