      That’s what makes Captain American (especially in the comics) so dangerous to the bad guys. He inspires people to step up for the greater good.
      Quite often the most meek and unassuming of people will rally to a cause if they hear Captain America say this is the way. I think part of it is because Steve was once a “90 pound weakling”. So when Captain American asks for help he is telling other little guys “you can be a hero even if it’s just for one day” 😉
      So Runlow and the Strike team went into the command center not realizing Cap already had people on the fence. Then to hear Cap say Hydra is in our midst, it was a wrap.

    The title actually has a double meaning. Yes, "the winter soldier" references Bucky, but the term actually goes back nearly 250 years to the works of Thomas Paine, a writer and supporter of the American Revolution. In 1776, he wrote about "the summer soldier and the sunshine patriot" (meaning people who only stand up and fight when it's safe or easy). This eventually gave rise to the concept of the "winter solider" (someone who fights, even when things get hard). This definitely applies to Steve, so you could argue that Cap himself is the Winter Soldier.

When i first got into the mcu i actually didnt watch them in order so i watched a movie later on in phase 3 ( fans know what film im talking about when i say "UNDEROOS") that was my first time seeing black widow and she seemed quite neutral and composed but her backstory is quite tragic and her overall story makes me like the character so much

    This movie was like a turning point of sorts for the MCU and brought up its storytelling and world building up a notch. It continues to get more intense from here. And speaking of damage caused by SHIELD and superheroes, there's the Department of Damage Control (DODC) that sometimes gets mentioned to address these issues.

      Basically, from this movie onwards they focus more on telling a general story that leads to the third Avengers movie. I wished they had the same approched in post-Endgame MCU. Too many opened new side stories that are not resumed for years or don't even have an impact in the other movies. They need to focus to make the audience more invested again.

    Loki's sceptre is (up to now) simply referred to as that: LOKI'S SCEPTRE... Which was used to affect Dr Selvig and Hawkeye's mind in AVENGERS. Glad you noticed the gem in the middle of it. The TESSERACT was the glowing blue cube that Captain America and the Red Skull fought over in CAPTAIN AMERICA THE FIRST AVENGER, and later we saw in AVENGERS. :)

    I liked how Black Widow's character is more expanded in this one. She's more sassier, has some new moves and is a good pairing to all good guy Steve. Winter Soldier's identity reveal is shocking and such a good plot twist and overall story. Hydra infiltrating Shield is less of an exciting aspect, but necessary to build characters. Good guys on the run theme feels new and interesting. Falcon also mixes into the team quite naturally. Overall really good movie with good action (hand to hand with Bucky so good), good humor and story.

    Fun fact: the doctor who was with Fury when everyone found out he was alive was one of the directors of this movie. I should also say there is an Agent Carter series that went on for 2 seasons. Not necessary for the movies for the most part. Guardians is a lot of fun. Also, that’s thing is Loki’s scepter and that post credit scene sets up Avengers Age of Ultron. You’ll see how it all ties in

    The thing people don't seem to understand about guns is that even if you're a marksman, the torso is always the largest part of the body to aim for...the idea of purely going for head shots, or aiming for the legs with an automatic weapon in a tense firefight isn't always a viable option. I know it's very movie tropic to aim for caps shield, but it's also pretty realistic that they would in those moments...you're trying to go for the quick kill, not wasting time lining up your shots for smaller targets.

    • @TheOctobersReact
      @TheOctobersReact  8 місяців тому +2

      yeah that’s understandable !!

    • @joepegel
      @joepegel 8 місяців тому +6

      In the Army they taught us to always aim center mass. Didn't matter what weapon you were using or what you were shooting at, you aim at the center. And when the bullets start flying, things are happening too fast to think things through. You just have to rely on your training.

    • @RichardFay
      @RichardFay 8 місяців тому +4

      I'm reminded of a line from a Batman comic, where he gets shot in his chest emblem revealing armor underneath and says "Why did you THINK I wear a target on my chest ?" I suspect that Cap's shield was deliberately painted with concentric circles to make it look like a target, so that bad guys would instinctively shoot at it instead of at him.

  • @RichardFay
    @RichardFay 8 місяців тому +34

    One of my favorite MCU films, or just favorite films period. I especially like the Steve/Nat pairing. You might have noticed that when Batroc throws his grenade, Steve grabs Nat and jumps through a window, and he's able to do that because Nat shot out the glass before they reached it - Steve didn't tell her to do that, she just automatically reacted to the situation. As good as Steve is, she might actually be better considering that she's literally only about half his size,
    Regarding the moral dilemma : Remember what Steve said in the first film ::"I don't like bullies, I don't care where they're from". He's seen what can happen when a government gets total power. A government agency being able to kill "A thousand hostiles a minute" without even a trial is exactly the kind of thing he fought against..

      24:12, I like that they didn’t try to make Nat his girlfriend. Even though they spend the movie making you think they will be a couple. She is more just like Steve’s bratty little sister.

    This one is so good! The action and close quarter combat was perfectly choregraphed and the story was fantastic! Seeing old Peggy with Alzheimer's(or dimentia, whichever one it was) was heartbreaking though. I'll give it to GSP, he gave Cap a good fight before he got KO'd. Being familiar with the comics, I knew the identity of the Winter Soldier going in but the reveal was no less shocking. That fake out with Fury was really good writing. The elevator scene is one of my favorite fight scenes because you don't see a dope fight scene in an enclosed space like that, especially one set up so perfectly. Cap notices the dude sweating, the other dudes come in, and Cap's like "aight let's go then".

  • @nintenmetro
    @nintenmetro 8 місяців тому +17

    One of the best things is all the crazy action from the hand-to-hand combat to the gunfire, and it’s all welded with the music and the tension.
    In fact, the elevator fight was the first thing they filmed. They practiced the fight choreography for several weeks prior to filming. It was that difficult but also well worth it.
    One of my favorite things about this movie was Steve refusing to give up on Bucky. He’s the only one who believes in his long time friend.

Now, for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, it's a fan favorite and with good reason. Sam Wilson/Falcon is a great addition to the ensemble, and his introduction is one of my favorite scenes in all of the MCU. I'm also surprised by how many super villains have been included in this movie, considering other MCU films don't really include as many villains. Bucky Barnes as The Winter Soldier is as compelling an antagonist as you can get, the spy thriller keeps people on the edge of their seats and Captain America's resolve is on full display here.

    Who was that? That was Agent Rumlow. He is going to make a major plot point later down the line. 😅
    James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes fell off the train to the snowy mountains below. However he had been experimented on by Arnim Zola at the time Steve rescued him and his army unit, the 107th infantry regiment, from the Red Skull. This may have allowed him to survive the fall although he did lose an arm. Which was replaced with a cybernetic prosthesis. He was later brainwashed by Hydra to be the Winter Soldier after his capture.
    Loki's Sceptre given to him by The Other, the liaison between Loki and the Chitauri is another artifact with similar properties to the Tesseract. There are multiple artifacts which are related as you will discover on your MCU journey.

    I'm glad you two enjoyed this movie. Many of the MCU fans feel this is one of the best Marvel movies most likely being in the top 10. I believe JARVIS is proprietary to Stark Industries and it is very unlikely that Tony would every loan or lease JARVIS to any govt agency especially SHIELD. BTW the scene where Nick Fury is hiding out being attended to by a no-name doctor was one of the directors Joe or Anthony Russo ( I don't know which is which lol) BTW Sam Wilson aka The Falcon is an actual comic book character that was brought to life by actor Anthony Mackie for this movie. The comic book character wore a radically different costume than his cinematic counterpart and the comic book character had an actual Falcon on his arm while in costume.

    You guys just "get it" in all the right ways when it comes to the MCU films. You catch all the right things and ask all the right questions.
    Regarding the Falcon: When Sam told Steve about losing his "wingman" Steve thought that meant he was a pilot, but we learned that the Falcon was the code name for the winged suit project he was involved with when Sam was in the military. So, technically, his practice for being the Falcon was in the military.
    Love watching you guys discover this world. This is where the MCU hits a fever pitch building towards Phase 3 which I am confident will blow your minds. Great job as always!

Fun fact, at least one of the Russo brothers are in most of not all the MCU movies they produce. Joe Russo was the private doctor taking care of Fury and Natasha in the scene after Agent Hill rescued the group.

The Scepter was a gift to Loky from the Entity that gave him the Chitaury Army to conquer the world and at the end of Avengers was supposed to be in the custody of SHIELD which now we know has been infiltrated by Hydra so they snugged It and now Is in their possession for the mid credit scene.... Disney had not bought out Marvel at the time this film was made. The deal was probably in the works (something that big takes years of negotiation) but the Disney buy-out wouldn't be official until Avengers: Age of Ultron was in production. (It becomes evident because some Disney IP - specifically music - was used in that film.)

    Remember back in the first Captain America movie, when Steve rescued the captured 107th infantrymen, he found Bucky on a medical table. Dr Zola had already started experimenting on him. The process wasn't complete yet, but had increased Bucky's durability/toughness which is why he was survived falling from the train, although he still lost an arm. After retrieving him from the snowy canyon, HYDRA brainwashed him, replaced his lost arm with a cybernetic one and finally completed the process of transforming him a super-soldier (most likely using a derivative serum reverse-engineered from the Red Skull's blood).

    This was a very nice surprise today… sure y’all didn’t just love it so much that you thought “let’s post this over scream 3 because of technical difficulties?” lol. I like the video, the ending review was a little more sub-par than I thought it would be(not mad or anything, just noting) I think consensus is that this movie fundamentally not only changed people’s views on Captain America as a hero, but the MCU as a whole. Someone noted below, but the filming of the movie with brand two new directors as brothers, the action sequences, the score and audio mixing and moments of character. It had great flow. I also saw someone note that when they saw it, that they were disappointed because it had been overhyped so I think it depends on what your expectations are/were. I know I had a group of friends that saw it together and put it right up there next to Avengers 2012 (because that’s what was out at the time) or better because they were that blown away by this film. Whether then, or now, I think most can easily fit this within their top 5 and I can easily see top 3, depending if you go by individual character films, trilogies or including Avengers films. Regardless though, this movie definitely up'd the ante for audiences when it was released.
    And behind the scenes I think it shows how Kevin Feige was able to balance people because Chris Evans had been disappointed by Cap's character in Avengers & bringing in some other A-list actors to help add more character to the story. And you will probably see moving forward, but how the MCU evolves with adding different “genres” to their movies because this was a “political spy thriller” as Kevin Feige(Was and is head of Marvel Studios) referred at the time when promoting this movie. Anthony and Joe Russo couldn’t have been better directors at a perfect time and helped carry out the rest of MCU for some of it's most important films. Did you also catch the easter egg of one of the directors being in a scene…? If ya didn’t, it was Joe Russo acting as the doctor helping Nick Fury and he makes a very brief appearance in the future MCU movies he and his brother direct.
    P.s. You guys are growing so fast, you’ll have a mill subs in no time, keep up the good work.
    p.s.s. on the copy right, you would have to double check by looking it up, but I have seen other reactors have videos up to roughly an hour and 8 minutes for some long movies. Later down the line, it’s up to ya, some people break up Infinity War & Endgame into 2-part reactions since there’s so much “meat” in the movie. But that can also equate to any movie length, but that’s up to however you want to have your videos.

And so is Bucky, he was experimented by Hydra when he fell and they managed to make him into a super soldier.
