Besides being rock/pop stars of their 80s era, most of their songs had a weight, some serious depth, & something REAL to say. Tears For Fears were no joke! "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" & "Shout" are essential listening. #TearsForFears
The video for "Woman In Chains" and, of course, the song with Loretta Adams is fantastic, and having bought my first record in 1961 their song "Advice For The Young At Heart" is in my all time Top 10 especially with the wonderful video of The Latino Wedding. :)
@@Isleofskye That's another of the many things we should be grateful to Tears For Fears for: They introduced the world to the glorious talents of Oleta Adams!
This song reminds me of 1985. I was in the hospital dying from meningitis, in and out of consciousness and hearing this song each time I woke. Funny the things a person remembers.
One of my all time fav movies Donnie Darko, uses this song and that movie is just everything. The scene with that song is so evocative. If you’ve never seen the movie o highly rec watching it. It’s a mind fck for sure, but omg it’s so good.
I thought I was the only one who'd mention that zoey...the way Donnie Darko uses a good portion of this song along with the imagery was always dope to me.
@@smittybenzo4693 that’s so true of most of the soundtrack. The use of the echo and the bunny men song in the beginning....it just did something to me. The whole movie and the soundtrack is great at eliciting emotions while not trying to be some sappy tear jerker. I fcking hate those. I have a hard time explaining what it makes you feel, but it just makes you feel things. I wasn’t a teenager in the 80’s, but it gives me nostalgia. Normally I hate nostalgia bc we remember the good and not the fcked up sht from the past, but it’s a bittersweet nostalgia. It’s less about remembering a time and place but a feeling. At least that’s what the movie and the excellent use of the soundtrack do for me. Def one of my all time fav movies.
When I'm having a bad day. All I have to do is find you two, and I'm laughing and smiling in no time. Thank you both for just being who you are. I hope you realize how much joy you bring to the world!!!!!!!
“Women in Chains” “Shout” “Sowing the Seeds of Love” “Break It Down Again” anything by Tears for Fears is good! Rick Astley’s “Cry for Help” is also great. It has 22 million views on UA-cam!
I don't know if I said this before, but I'll say it again: The two of you are my favorite couple reactors. You are both a joy to watch and make this old white lady laugh every day! I feel like I would have a great time hanging out and partying with you! Keep doing what you're doing and please, please Jai, keep laughing - makes my day 😂.
Great talent. Super strong vocals, deep meaningful lyrics with a message. Well produced. “Shout” and “Everyone wants to rule the world”. Are strong pieces that are a fabric of the 80’s.
he made that face cause he was (playing guitar) and acting at the same time and keep in frame. And it's more about the lyrics and what's behind the song. He's talking to that one specific girl in the library
Hello hello half and jai!!! Did you know at one point Roland and Curt weren't to head over heels and parted ways after their "sowing the seeds of love" album. Roland did two more album under tests for fears 🥺 no curt "elemental" and "raoul and the kings if spain" then thank goodness reunited to bless us this "everybody loves a happy ending" and now they got "the tipping point"
So glad you are jumping into this rabbit hole some others by them you should listen to if you haven't already are Break It Down Again, Everybody Wants To Rule The World, Mad World, Pale Shelter, Sowing the Seeds of Love and more one of the top 80's groups.
@ 4:28 The movie this song is most often associated with is Donnie Darko. I don't recall it being used in any of the 1980s John Hughes-type teen angst/rom-com movies but I could be wrong..
Speaking of meeting people in libraries, I highly recommend an anime by Studio Ghibli called "Whisper of the Heart". It's a sweet junior high romance story that I discovered in my late 20s that I'm still really fond of. The main characters both wrestle with the challenges of the creative process - something that the director also sought balance in.
Many English bands of the 80s liked that strained vocals sound. Another example is Talk Talk. Their singer would intentional avoid exhaling while singing to produce a strained sound. There was a lot of experimentation then and that was something that was played with. Also Julian Cope as a solo artist and with The Teardrop Explodes did that.
Great song, Great times and great music one of the best 80's bands ever, next "Shout" or "Mother's Talk" please Half and Jai, I'm listening to you in Guatemala (like that really matters haha). Another great option if you still haven't reacted to is "Overkill" by Men at work or "Who can it be now" also by them, they definitely left their legacy for all of us to listen to as well as TFF, just take a listen to and let music take over you, Greetings.
Try Rag'n'Bone Man his song called Human after this past summer we need to hear this song! Then try Blake Sheltons from the voice his song God's Country Blake Shelton's EX wife Miranda Lamberts video song called Mama's Broken Heart. It's just funny as hell. It's about how southern rich white women are supposed to hold their shit together no matter what happens even when you have a broken heart.
Hey there! I think that the song you're referring to near the end of this reaction is "Hey Jude" by the Beatles with the "nah nah nah" stuff. I could be wrong, but I'm not. Much love to you both....
You meant sixteen candles…haha..but it should have that movie and more it belongs on more movie soundtracks …but it came out in the movie DONIIE DARKO..love this song..
Tears for Fears had so many hits and catchy anthems on their first three albums it's sick. Check out Mad World, Woman In Chains, Shout, The Hurting. PS Love to see you guys having a good time!
I ADORE Tears for Fears. The lyrics- "you keep your distance with a system of touch and gentle persuasion" so good. I don't recall this featured in a movie tho.

I'm glad you made it.
The ears and mind was prob alot more able to react after the accident
Glad you here with us brother
Sowing the seeds is a really good song by them.
Donnie Darko is probably the most iconic use of the song in a movie. Highly recommend the movie.
That's all I can think of when I hear this song now!
This whole album Songs From The Big Chair is incredible!!!

The whole Donnie Darko soundtrack is amazing.. I was born in 1980 so that movie is a haunting nostalgia.

The new wave era will never die in my heart, mind and ears. Absolutely the best genre.
Facts the 80s had the best music…..and the most diverse hits popping up
TEARS FOR FEARS "SOWING THE SEEDS OF LOVE"...A MUST HEAR..TRUTH!!
The best part of their intro is when Jai whispers down below.
Great talent. Super strong vocals, deep meaningful lyrics with a message. Well produced. “Shout” and “Everyone wants to rule the world”. Are strong pieces that are a fabric of the 80’s.
3:45 the singer has "bedroom eyes", as they called it back in the day. Good voice.
Y'all please do Sowing the Seeds of Love by Tears for Fears
he made that face cause he was (playing guitar) and acting at the same time and keep in frame. And it's more about the lyrics and what's behind the song. He's talking to that one specific girl in the library
I have always loved Tears for Fears. Great song. Thanks for the reaction. ❤️
This song is an OPUS. One of the greatest intros.
They're dropping a new album!
I gotta say, i love your solo channels, but nothing beats you guys together. I LOVE IT!!!
Will, I feel the same!!!!
The song is in Donnie Darko.

Mad World, by the original buy who did it, Gary Jules, is a better version in my opinion
The movie is Donnie Darko.
Btw Tears for Fears plays in the movie “Donnie Darko”.
The amount of hooks and melody changes this song has is wild

Where are their headphones? This is a MUST
I love this song.
It is really cool to see y'all grooving to the music I grew up on. I personally think the 80's had the best music. All generes.
Not sure you have done him yet but need to do Wierd AL Yankovic he sings parodies. White and Nerdy and Amish paradise are my favorites!
This song is on the movie Donnie Darko
Whats amazing for TFF is that there are recent videos they have done and they sound just as good now as they did 30 years ago!

I can’t listen to this song without thinking of Donny Darko getting off the bus to go to school
This is one of the greatest pop love songs ever written. “I’m on the line one open mind…..this is my…four leaf clover”
I luv u too sooo much. Ty 4 all the laughs
Seriously their best song is Working Hour and if you want a trippy kind of experience their song Listen has so many elements.
That your outta here comment is just gold👍😆😆😆

I love mother's talk. Some purple think I'm nuts - but that just shows they have little taste in music
You were thinking about a movie called Sixteen Candles. And no, this song was not in any of those movies back then...
Advice for the young at heart is a great TFF song
Try Rag'n'Bone Man his song called Human after this past summer we need to hear this song!
Then try Blake Sheltons from the voice his song God's Country
Blake Shelton's EX wife Miranda Lamberts video song called Mama's Broken Heart. It's just funny as hell. It's about how southern rich white women are supposed to hold their shit together no matter what happens even when you have a broken heart.
Yessss, the official video for Mama's Broken Heart - its hilarious!
PLEASE please please you two, if you can react to, Mike and the Mechanics - the Living Years
The song is from Donnie Darko
You were probably thinking of Na Na Na Na from Hey Jude by the Beatles.
Tear for Fears definitely has that 80's/John Hughes film feel. You ain't wrong. Their videos are always weird, but I love them!
Her laugh is so great
it's from Donnie Darko with the Jake & Maggie Gyllenhaal
@2:12 I've said it once and I'll say it again ... I LOVE Jai's laugh. ❤ She has the best laugh in the world.
They are touring this spring and still sound amazing. Saw them in Boston 3 years ago.

This song is featured in the movie Donnie Darko & the playlist for that movie is amazing
one of the classics in the 80s! Great reaction! Take care and God bless.
Jai, lol... your facial expressions were crackin me up. Half was being so silly
Head over heels is NOT a position, LMAO!! This was fun to watch!!!
That's gotta be Jon Cryer and Lars Ulrich. Hollywood is weird. Lol. That's why you subconsciously said Sixteen Candles. Ducky
yes,,, the Breakfast Club
Thumbs up just for the funny intro even before the song started :P I do like some Tears For Fears. They're a good group with some memorable songs.
Love the ya hair on this on Jai!
Half was thinking of the Hey Jude reaction at the end which was a great reaction if I may say so .. ya dig?
Oh man the best song 🙌🏼
Awesome review by awesome people
Or Nothing Compares.
This was a great and a dope reaction and my first time hearing it even though i know who they are i never listened to this song🔥🎶
Looking good folks😌
You guys should do Boys 'Round Here by Blake Shelton.
I ADORE Tears for Fears. The lyrics- "you keep your distance with a system of touch and gentle persuasion" so good. I don't recall this featured in a movie tho.
There's a terrific extended scene in Donnie darko which features this song.
@@simonevs020 that's the filmi was thinking of too when she said she thought it was in a film.
@@simonevs020 Thanks I totally forgot about that!
That la,la,la you were referring to, am guessing you meant Don't You (Forget About Me) by Simple Minds.
