Clefable's pokedex entry in Legends Arceus does say: "Legend says that on clear, quiet nights, it listens for the voices of its kin living on the moon. I, too, often think of my homeland, so far away." Of course, the Legends Arceus entries are obviously not supposed to be a reliable source of intresting, but I do tihnk its intresting that this supersition has existed for a while
Okay I'm glad someone else got to mention this, even if it isn't exactly Clefairy, it's at least a mention of the line being from the moon
There is also a similar pokédex entry in Ultra Moon that reads: "Some scientists believe that it gazes intently at the sky on nights with a full moon because it's homesick".
I'm sure mewtwo could build a spaceship, but according to the intro he can breathe space like freiza. He built a cloning machine and flying pokeballs out of human body parts so I'm sure he could figure out space travel if need be.
Well Mew is always flying around space so makes sense Mewtwo can as well
Wait what he built those out of human parts? Thats kinda dark for pokemon.
@@Skyfire-qu7nt I know right. Yeah they don't outright say it but if you watch the scene where ash is trying to break out of the cloning machine you can see the arm bones and fingers and joints it's really apparent once you realize it lol.
@@Skyfire-qu7nt they're charred too, from when he burned down the island. It's the double long bone in your forearm that first caught my eye.
Jigglypuff slapping the crap out of a horde of Clefairy is definitely one of my all time favorite moments of the anime.
While Clefairy doesn't have any Pokedex entries saying it came from space. Cleffa absolutely does. It seems like most of their Pokedex entries talk about them coming from meteors, shooting stars and comets. Though that does beg the question if Cleffa would still become Clefairy and Clefable if still in space, or if it has other evolutions from where ever in space it comes from.
Clefable has at least two mentions that are potential ties to outer space. I'd say the whole line are stranded aliens. Not every alien has to look "like an alien".
Clefairy might not be an alien, but it is a fairy, an adorable fairy at that. Hell, the whole line is pretty great. Cleffa is an adorable little star kid and Clefable is a cute pink blob that just got better as time went on w/ all the buffs it got
Surprised didn't mention the Phanpy and Cleffa Johto anime episode with the Pokémon Mystery Club about there where I think it was the same UFO and Clefairy that crashed
While not much beyond a dex entry in SV, Gothirita is said to be from space plus its other dex entries say it draws power from the stars so wonder if will cover it too
Kind of just wanted to chat about the first episode and also it basically had all the evidence you need. Though I think it’s cool that these Clefairy ended up coming back. Always like recurring characters in the anime.
The Clefairy episode makes me wish Jigglypuff got Hustle as an ability.
This is crazy timing because I recently got a hyperfixation on clefairy. Spheal has been my favorite pokemon for a few years now but after playing let's go eevee for the first time, using a clefairy and having it follow me, I've come to really adore it. I still love spheal but clefairy just may be tied with it.
Clefairy is a real alien, and the answer lies in its moveset. Clef learns both Cosmic Power and Meteor Mash by level up, and has done so since both moves debuted in Gen 3. Cosmic Power is exclusively learned by Pokemon originating from space, including Deoxys, Jirachi, and Staryu, as well as species that were affected by moonlight, like Claydol. Meteor Mash is only learned by Clef, Metagross, and Jirachi.
Lucario can learn Meteor Mash too
@@AuraStrikeAce true, but Meteor Mash came before Lucario. The move is called “Comet Punch” in Japanese, so I think that they were leaning into the ‘punch’ side with Lucario.
@@HesGotaGun505 What's the English Comet Punch in Japanese?
@@dominicmoisant8393 Renzoku Punch, which means Consecutive Punch. Don't know where they got Comet from
@@edgargaebolg9307 Thanks for the response, maybe they got it from the comet tails which make meteor showers that are more consecutive albeit erratic which would explain the accuracy lol
1:17 elgyem: am i a joke to you
Don’t forget that the person running Pokémon’s social media basically created a headcanon that they’re a Clefairy. They posted the clip of Clefairy tapping on the control panel with a caption along the lines of “Running this page be like:”.
Imo thats non-canon
Very fascinating!
Never realized it was only in the anime
I'm pretty sure that the first crash at the start of the episode was just another attempt to take off that failed because they built their ship out of junk. The joke is that they've been at it for a while, crashing near different cities/towns and then robbing them to repeat the whole cycle.
That Double-slap battle was iconic.
The Electric Tale of Pikachu manga does this storyline too, but instead of building a space ship they are a nest of escaped pets stealing stuff to build a nest.
Ash's Pikachu can't catch a break 💀
the team rocket alien costumes must be one of their most effective costume designs ever 😹👽
There was so many adorable Clefaiys
They can hide their Rocket underground yet can't figuring out when they can just mining iron ores in underground rather than stealing from human 😅
If they capable to spaceflight then they should know how to mining resources right?
“I’m a doctor, not a miner!”
Mining and refining ores is labor and resource intensive
Why go through the effort when they can just steal items that have already been made and work well enough?
@@garg4531well.... if you're stranded in unknown planet that had lifeforms
Better to not attract their attention too much or they will capture you for experimentation subjects
You know how scary humans can go in experimentation on some lifeforms including humans like Russian Sleep experiment or Japan Unit 731 in WW2
Not forgetting in pokemon world itself we see countless time Dangerous experiments on pokemon doing by Evil teams like Mew Two project,Experiment on Lake Rage and Red Gyarados or that Team Flare did
its shiny form as green ear tips. seems like an alien to me 👽
I cant beleive i forgot how bad jigglypuff beat that clefairys ass 😂
“ That clefairy came from the moon.”
Alright so, the dex might be one thing, but there's actually some interesting stuff going on with the Clefairly line in the series. While the video only really focuses on Clefairy, it's probably just as important to look at Cleffa and Clefable too.
Let's start with Cleffa. The dex is pretty consistent with mentioning that it's either said to come from meteorites or sightings of them 'strangely increase' shortly after meteor showers. The first time we see something like this actually in the games is them appearing in Mount Hokulani, a place that's essentially the 'impact site' location in the Alola games, with known extraterrestrials like Minior and Elgyem appearing there.
Now with Clefairy itself, in the games, it's notably found in Mt. Moon, Meteor Falls (In ORAS), Giant Chasm and Mt. Hokulain, again, all places that are impact sites in canon.
And with Clefable, again, one of the few places it can be found is Giant Chasm, another known impact site.
On a similar subject, one thing I truly believe needs to be looked into more is how often the same thing occurs with the Beldum line, again being frequently found in impact sites and also shares similarities with the Magnemite line, which does have some small connections to space itself.
Alien week, random content here
Great video 🔥
Clefairy is one of Lillie Pokémon that I am happy she has and think it has Moon affliction.
Especially since it was known the original starter. So it sorta came true.
Clefairy being an alien, I believe in existence and in the games they can only do so much compared to the anime.
Wait...1:29 is that a Relicanth Pokemon fossil?
Also, if Gengar is the ghost and/or shadow of Clefable...why aren't there more ghost version of regular pokemon (as opposed to other ghost types being an original design) 🤔
Gengar and Clefable don’t have any canon relation as far as I know, it’s just something the fanbase took notice of and made popular
@@garg4531
Just fanon that some people forget isn't canonical fact. Like how some actually think you kill Blue's Raticate or that Ditto are failed Mew clones. We can put the last one to bed because a member of GF was asked about it and laughed at the notion. "I've never heard that one," or something like that implying the idea was never even brought up around them. So basically a giant "no".
@@namegoeshere5220 Yep! Sometimes fanon becomes so popular people end up thinking they’re canon
