I don't really comment on videos but I just wanted to say this helped me a lot. After my initial diagnosis, I was given steroids to take for 7 days. The doctor said after the steroids there is really nothing else I can take and depending on if we caught it in time or not I have to wait for it to heal. The first few days were hard, could not look at myself in a mirror because it wasn't me. Then I found this video and did the exercises every day. I can say it's been 1 month and it doesn't even look like I had Bell' Palsy, I'm still doing the exercises to strengthen the muscles but my smile is back. Whoever is reading this, it's not easy for anyone but know you are not alone. This can be really hard to handle but people do recover 100% of their face. I think knowing that helped me as well.
Thank you for your comment. I almost started crying reading everyone's comments especially yours because this is exactly how I feel right now going through this. This is my second day and I feel depressed I don't want to look in the mirror either. I'm trying to be positive and pray it will heal sooner than later. Thank you.
Thank God. Iam facing this problem since the last 24 hours. I started taking the pills from today. I prayed hard really harder than any other time and the lord assured me healing then I found this video. Now iam happy because my God is working unceasingly for my complete health care🙏
I experienced this for a week and a half. GUYS. The exercises DO HELP. See a doc first, get the medication needed, do the exercises and most importantly, stay positive. That was the recipe I followed and I am now 100% recovered. :-)
Thank you so much for this. Diagnosed w/ Bell’s yesterday :( Can I ask what meds you were taking? Doc prescribed an anti-viral and Prednisone. I will do these exercises and stay positive, like you said ♥️
I was diagnosed 3 days ago and it has been rough mentally. Seeing everyone’s positivity here in the comments is really mentally supportive. Thanks everyone.
Same well I’m not diagnosed with it but like the symptoms r like really close to what’s happening to me but I’m goijg to the doctors today and these expressions r funny lol
I got diagnosed around 3 weeks ago & I’m nearly recovered. If you’re going through this now, I know how hard it is to remain positive but please know that this will become better. This is coming from someone who used to have 10 mental breakdowns in a day lmao 😭😭😭 It WILL get better & at the end of it you will become stronger ❤️ Update: fully recovered.
Got it last night and thought it was cuz of the mental breakdown I had in the daytime, I'm ok now tho surprisingly it's like sleep was all I needed but still prepared if it comes back for whatever reason
@@therealg-amer8781 much better, but it was scary, I noticed it happened after being stressed and weirdly it happened when I smoked weed on an empty stomach... Very weird tho, it happened again a few days after even my arms got stiff up like a zombie I legit couldn't move till like 30 minutes.. don't let my experience give you any ideas tho cuz I'm pretty sure not everyone went thru it the way I did, I only experienced it twice and sleep and/or food made it better, I've seen my brother went thru it 2 weeks prior tho and he stood like that for a week and a half
@@karenholder9967 I'm 60 percent recovered by the way... Dont freak out... Its seems a big deal.. But have trust in your doctor and follow the exercise. It will be alright. And be positive. That's the key
I was diagnosed with this when I was a child. It got really severe when I was about 14. One side of my face was completely paralyzed. I was scared then. Just yesterday I got diagnosed again and am having another episode of it. It’s not as severe and I’m on antibiotics and steroids again. God bless anyone else who is suffering this as well. You are strong and will get through this!
I’m currently on my 4th recurrence of Bell’s. I was first diagnosed when I was 8, 12, 19 and now having severe paralysis in my 30s. It’s comforting to know that others have had this recurring BP since I sometimes feel lost and alone. What I want to know is what have you found causes your BP? So far, the most common possible cause for myself are stress, low immune system and lack of sleep. I was put on antivirals, prednisone and Lyrica for nerve pain. I want to prevent another attack and the recovery have been slower the older I get. I’m very interested in what people have done to prevent/speed their recovery. I’d love to know your story.
WhereisWendy wow 4th?! You are strong!!!! I know I said this is my second time but I talked to my father about it recently and he said I may have had it even younger than 14 so I may have had it as a toddler but I just don’t remember. All I know is that I’ve had it more than once for sure! They put me on antivirals along with prednisone. Now what may have triggered for me was cold sores. When I was 14 I had a bad case of them around my mouth they called it “herpes B” and that is what I believe triggered it. And recently I had a cold along with a small cold sore and boom my Bell’s palsy came back. I do believe stress played a part in this as well not only the viruses. I would say that acupuncture is what helped me the most. If you haven’t tried it I highly recommend it! I would try to do it for months at a time. I plan on doing it for the next 6 months just to make sure that I can get the most treatment possible. I’ve also heard that dry needling may work?? But so far acupuncture has helped me .
I was diagnosed when i was about 12. That was 1st time. They say it can happen within 10 yrs from 1st time. But my 2nd time started a couple days ago and im just shy of 40.
I experienced Bell Palsy a year ago, and today I'm 100% fine. I just wanted to tell you, if you are going through this, yes it's scary and really weird, many thoughts go through you head and you might feel some depression.. maybe. I hope you'll still smile (even if you look a little funny) ;)
@@richardmendia3362 i woke up today with my my left side not working well when i smile my right side smiles happy and the other doesn't, when i close my eyes one closes faster
@@z0mm3rr hey! Alhamdulillah I’m fully recovered now. Don’t panic or stress about it too much, just make sure to take the steroids the doctor prescribes and you’ll slowly see improvements over the coming weeks. Don’t forget everyone is different, so you could recover quicker or shorter than others. Get well soon!
I was diagnosed last week. Doc said this might be influenced by high levels of stress. I'm currently doing exercises like the ones on the video and also acupuncture. Recovery is going a little slow but I'm starting to see some progress. To everybody going thorugh the same, just keep the positivity and try to stay relaxed!
it's my 20 th day and I'm 60 % recovered ..guys don't panic, leave all ur work, don't use mobile phones alot, do yoga and facial massages, stay close to nature ,do morning and evening walks daily and be positive...it's a temporary thing
Thank you for this. I've been thinking what workouts or activities I can do since i'm limited by just staying at home. It's nice to know I can do yoga.
Today is day 4 for me! I have been praying and resting! I have felt some tingling on my left side on the affected areas! I am thankful that I came across this video Dr. Jo! I will remain positive and add these exercises to my routine! God is a healer and WE ALL will get through this! Have an Amazing weekend!
@@SiUUUUUUUUUUUscribers hey it takes a while .. I’m in month three .. I hope u get better soon .. try and stay positive. And gave faith in God! He is a healer! ❤️🩹
I was diagnosed yesterday. I pray it corrects as soon as possible. Thanks for the exercises. The comments from others really help. May you all recover fully. Ameen.
I believe the steroids helped me in the beginning. But it's like it wore off within a year. Ask the doctors if you are able to get another dose of steroids later on. Diet may help too if you have diabetes. These exercises as well. Hope you have a full recovery.
@@MissEddieBlueKawaiiKrafts hi i am on day 18 and I see lots of recovery. I can blink from my palsy side now also can move my eyebrows 50%. Still not able to open my mouth but the taste is back and my face is more responsive now.
Just diagnosed today. Really depressing. This thing happened all of a sudden. One hour I was ok and the next i couldn't smile, blink, or eat normal. This too shall pass.
I'm a week and a day in and the most detrimental thing is having my smile taken. I hate spilling food and drinks uncontrollably in public and being embarrassed to smile and laugh. I'm blessed to have a good support system and to see other people experiencing the same thing. Best of luck to everyone going thru this. You are not alone!
Hi what is your progress. Please share this just happened to me yesterday. I feel exactly like this, devastated that my smile was taken. But won’t let this defeat me!
I was diagnosed yesterday and just reading these comments is helping me in the moment. I feel broken and defeated reading that some people were able to recover gives me some hope
Was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy on the left side of my face exactly two weeks ago, I'm 29 years old. Today I'm finally seeing some movement in my mouth, cheek, nose and forehead. I did face exercises, massages and took vitamin B12 tablets, anything I could find that could potentially help with the recovery of my nerves and keeping the muscles in my face active/healthy. Try not to stress, be impatient or get worried when things don't improve. The first four days for me my condition got gradually worse until I couldn't move anything and I was depressed, stressing about things being permanent and so on edge about it all I pinched a nerve in my neck/shoulder. This made recovering more uncomfortable and my mental health suffered a lot throughout it all. I can't recommend enough trying to stay positive, eat healthy, take care of your face and affected eye, do things to keep your mind off what's happening and also REST! I went to three different doctors before one of them finally said I should be taking time off work to rest and recover. Even though the rest of your body is working fine, you are still sick and you need to rest and recover. Wishing everyone else here a smooth and fast recovery.
After ten days, i gained almost 70% of the control. do these exercises along with facial massage with any lubricant and take your medicines prescribed by your neurophysician. Don't be depressed, it's a temporary thing. We can get out of it.
I was just diagnosed with this today and it's pretty scary but more embarrassing than anything. I already suffer from depression and anxiety so this bells is triggering my depression. I just want this to go away😔
Adriana Patino How is your recovery going? I was just diagnosed yesterday. I also struggle with depression and anxiety so it’s making it extra hard. It’s hard knowing that it can take awhile to fully recover. I hope your recovery is progressing well!
It's been more than 15 years since I have been diagnosed with this illness. It really affected me mentally and emotionally, my confidence and self esteem is really low. It is really frustrating to think that you cannot do basic expressions like smiling. I have given up on the hope that I will be able to recover 100% or just to have my smile back. I hope all of you who are suffering Bell's Palsy are doing well. God bless!
It’s been about four weeks and I’m now about 75% better. Keep doing facial exercises and try to live a normal life as much as possible. I’ve also done what my doctor’s have said and it’s so comforting to know I’m not alone on this journey. Stay positive. You will get better.
I'm 22 years old & I was diagnosed with Bell's palsy 17 days ago, and with proper prescribed medications by doctors and physiotherapy I have 90% recovered. It was a rough & a bit scary in the starting days, but within a few days with exercises and medication it heals Hope to spread vibes with current patients 😊
Hi i got this about 4 days ago i started physiotherapy right now i can't uplift my eyebrows cant smile its scary though so i want to ask u after how many days u start to feel some movement on ur affected part
Just happened to me Saturday. I’m now on Day 4 and still feel depressed in some sense but trying to stay positive. I came across this video and the comments I read was very uplifting. This too shall pass.
Just got diagnosed today. Mine's not that sever but i cant blink my right eye, ao i have to wear a patch. Im glad to read all the helpful and awesome comments and came across this video. We'll all recover 💯 sooner or later, i have faith. Im keeping you all in my prayers tonight ❤❤❤
I’m cured 🤗🤗🤗. If I had to measure in percentages it be around 95%. In less than 2 weeks I’m way better. I went to get diagnosed and was given steroids and antiflammatory medication. Honestly the major issue I had with this condition was the eating portion. Food and water will fall off my left side of my face but not no more. 😊 I’m so happy. 🤓
These are great, especially in a time when you feel like you have no control. Not everyone’s experience is the same as my left side didn’t move for 4 months, I still have permanent damage and pain. I still cringe when people want to take photos and miss my previous smile. I always tell those first experiencing BP to make yourself the top priority as you heal and your not alone.
I was diagnosed in April it is now mid June and I am almost fully recovered. I highly recommend these facial exercises. They helped me a great deal, the more I did them the more it loosened the muscles and helped them return to my normal.

Thank you for the video! Symptoms just showed up 2 days ago and I went in for an MRI yesterday. Glad that there are facial exercises I can do rather than just sitting around waiting for it to resolve itself.
@@AskDoctorJo Hi 👋, I've had bell's palsy for almost 13 years and still have it and my doctor told me that it will not recover just because I've done any exercise, But my question for the day is, wil i recover from watching this video to do the exercises everyday, cause i can't live like this anymore 😢😭😭 please help
This is amazing, I was diagnosed today, had difficulty smiling. I just did these exercises and I can feel some movement around the corner of my nose and upper lip. I know I'll be fine soon, my eye just need to corporate as well. Thanks as lot @AskDoctorJob for these exercises
Being diagnosed 3 weeks ago... Never got depressed but frustrated for a few days, but now having some movement on my left side... Just came cross this video feeling so much better now 😌
I was just diagnosed with it last week. It really scared me. The doctor and nurse told me to not stress but I can't help it when I cannot smile like how I used to. I cover my mouth when I laugh or smile now and it really embarrasses me. Thank you for the exercises. I will definitely start doing this and hopefully I can smile openly again.
@@jaysmithminaj I'm sorry to hear that, it's quite traumatizing. My face recovered fully in two weeks. I started to see some results after taking the prescriptions my doctor gave me but this exercise really helps with the full recovery. Bell's palsy is a downer but smiling helps cure it.
Thank you for the info. I was diagnosed on the 9th of April, 2024 Bell's Palsy. Even though I finished the medication I was given about a week ago. I'll give this exercise a try. My face is coming back slowly but it doesn't hurt to improve it more
I was diagnosed last Monday November 6, 2022...it was very unexpected because I just slept normal then when i woke up, my face suddenly changed, I can't control it anymore 😭 I was so panic that time, I really don't know what to do first...i was so thankful my family were here, they helped me to calm, to relax and brought me to the hospital...i was crying everynight why it happened to me 😢😢😢 i don't really understand why it happened ...it got me emotionally and mentally drained.... but my family didn't leave me and the people surrounds me always cheering me that everything will be alright and back to normal very soon... and thank you to this video it helps me a lot...i can do exercise for my face.... and the comments here gave me positive vibes... we will all get well soon and God bless 😇😇😇🙏🙏🙏🙏

Thank you, Dr Jo.. I was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy 3 days ago.. I've been crying my eyes out and feeling so down. But, reading the comments have lifted my spirit.. I am now confident that this a little phase, which will soon pass away. Go Zaram!!!✊❤
I was diagnosed of Bell’s palsy about 3 weeks ago. I’m almost completely recovered now. Prednisone was prescribed for the healing process, also taking rest as much as possible is highly recommended. I was scared at first cos it got worse and then recovery set-in. These exercises also help. Just be positive and don’t entertain fear, for those who have it, you will get better and recover. But make sure to see your doctor first when you notice a facial palsy
Thank you so much!!! This is one of the most frightening things I've ever experienced, and I don't have medical insurance for treatments. God Bless you Dr. Jo!!!
I was diagnosed with bell's palsy 3 days ago. I hope whoever has this disease will get well soon ^^ including me. Best of luck everyone and have a nice day and stay positive.
@@jg-hi2sh not yet. There were a lot of improvement however, Half of my face is still not look like how it used to look be. i can still do my daily life normally.
I had surgery to remove a schwannoma a month ago, and I'm under medical supervision and being treated by two different physiotherapists for facial palsy. I don't usually go on researching solutions on the internet but today I went looking for more facial exercises to practice. Anyway, I just wanted to thank you because your good mood gave me a renewed soul in such a difficult phase. Sincerely my thanks, Dr. Jo!
My husband was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy in the ER. He was given prescriptions, but no one mentioned therapy or exercises. Thank heavens he had a follow up appointment today with our primary care physician. Thank YOU for the helpful video. We are NOW looking forward to a FULL recovery.😀
Thank you for these exercises. I've had two episodes of this. The first was mild. The second one occured about 8 years later. It was the episode from hell. Started with tingling on the left side of my tongue, by next day my face stared sagging, by that evening I stared experiencing tremendous pain behind my ear and face. Lasted about 4 days. Developed neuritis in my left facial nerve and left optic nerve. My vision went double in my left eye. It took me about a year for things to return to somewhat normal. I'm hoping these exercises will help. I wish I had found them earlier. Thank you.
I was just diagnosed today I’m on antivirals and steroids and now I’m going to start doing the exercises. I’m going to try and be optimistic through this and hope for the best.
been diagnosed a week ago and almost fully recovered now. dont lose hope guys. just be diligent in your facial exercises do it in the morning lunch and before you sleep :)
I used these exercises on my husband when he had Bell’s palsy and I work wonderful. His face was numb on one side and his mouth was twisted it was scary I didn’t know if his face was going to come back to normal but thanks to this video it did. I did the massages on his face everyday for 2 weeks.Thank you so much for this video it really help when we were very worried.
Thank you -doctor jo- my wife was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy yesterday and i did not hesitate to take her to the hospital cuz one minute she’s was fine and the next she felt different now she’s under medication and just having her stay positive reading the comments really makes me feel better knowing she’s not the only one with Bell’s palsy I’m having her do your exercise and I’m so great full keep your head up every one that is going threw this will get threw this together.
My husband was just diagnosed today. I found this video while trying to be proactive seeing there isn't much else I can do. The comments give me a lot of hope, so thank you.
Thank you Doctor Joe... I'm a newly diagnosed 70 year old patient, and believe me I thought this was a stroke at first...I will certainly use these four exercises...but not sure how many times a day or if and when i should increase the repetitions. Also, if you have any others I could use, I would greatly appreciate seeing them as well either by video or publication... in the mean time, thanks for what you are doing. Much appreciated.
You're welcome. It's a little different for everyone, so unfortunately I don't know since I can't evaluate you. In general, it's better to start with just a little like 5-10 several times a day, and slowly build reps over time.
I received the diagnosis about a week ago. Thank you. I love your video. I’m 67 years old and am not real savvy on UA-cam, but I’m learning. Thank you so much for responding to my question.
I know you are probably freaking out(Just like I did)....I am writing this to inform you that you will be fully recovered, I took me about a month...It is important to visit your doctor as well. Sending love♥️...It will be gone in no time.
It's my 29th day and I just found this video. It's helpful, a lot. And the comments are so positive. Thanks y'all. I'm gonna get back to the classroom and teach my school children. I miss them.
Great easy exercise thanks! My question is how long did it take you to see improvements and how often should i do these exercises for a speedy recovery?

Had this about 5 years ago and just got it again...very annoying symptoms. Was checking out your great video to remember the exercises. Thank you for the information.
I'm a week into this after the usual scary moment thinking it's a stroke. Well, if you are reading this, what you had wasn't a stroke but Bell's palsy. We should all be happy about that! Hard to think about positive thoughts when your face is half smiling and half crying, literally. But it is getting better little by little. Started antivirals and antiinflammatories right away, and physio a few days after. Looking forward to getting fully recovered. And very thankful for all the positive messages here!
I'm going on 6 weeks and have seen zero change yet. Glad I decided to check out this video and read the comments because honestly the mental part is the hardest. The depression and anxiety, to me, are harder than the actual physical challenge
I suddenly got this 2 days ago. Very scary, especially since I'm only 25. I hope I'm not also hit with Corona since the medication prednizolon weakens the immune system. Let's hope the medication and excersizes help in a speedy as possible recovery
@D hey. In the beginning it got a bit worse and then progress seemed very slow for a while. I began seeing a logopedist(ill look up what it's called in English) and I got some exersices to activate my nerves and later on train the muscles. Now I'm practically done. My face functions normally again and it's just some very precise movements that are difficult. But I do have to say. This took like almost a year. Progress goes very slowly, but it does progress!
I can't find what logopedie is called in English. But it's the person you go to for when your stuttering. They are often also trained in this. I looked it up and recovery goes a lot quicker and better when you go see one of them (when you have some movement, until then it's just waiting) In the beginning I got recommended to massage my face and try to relax it as much as possible
Thanks SO much for making this! The hospital release form from this Friday night included a recommendation for immediate facial therapy for Bell's Palsy, but none of my doctors can see me for a week. I found some super long descriptions on the internet of how to do this exercise, but the visual demonstration pulls it all together. You're a life saver! Or... face saver? :D
Thank you for this info. I just got diagnosed yesterday and I'm just relieved I wasn't having a stroke. I see you have some other excellent videos about inspiring young people who may want to study physical therapy. As a high school teacher, I am very appreciative of that. It will be great to have seomething for my students to see when they are interested in the topic. You are fantastic! ❤️ Edit- I just looked at the huge volume of information you've given in your many videos. What a wonderful way to enrich so many people's lives. You are certainly making the world a better place for so many.
You're welcome! I can't imagine how scary it must feel to experience that and not know what is happening. Thank you!! If any of your students are interested, please tell them to go shadow some PTs in different clinics. It's not always what people think, but it is so rewarding to be able to help people:-)
its not life threatening, but it is defintiely life altering. I have been blessed with BP twice now. 4yrs ago on the left , now 2 days ago my right. The left never fully recoverd but many say they couldnt tell until I told them, but I could tell. But it did definitley did get better. Keep practicing and take photos along the way so you can see your success! This time is just as frustrating as my job needs my ability to talk and I cant form words correcctly given the weak side is now my strong side. I wonder if there are nerve stimulation therapies out there and will pursue them if there are. I write here only to say - hang in there, you are not alone and it is validating to know this. Its sometimes difficult to be strong with the inability to 'smile through anything' like I have before, but we will work hard to beat this again. WE are the lucky ones - truely. It was not a stroke. It was not a heart attack...it is a big hill..but not a mountain and we are together. Focus on what you CAN do and it will make you stronger. Prayers to every one of you on this journey! Thank you to Dr Jo for posting a simple start to get things going again and a platform to support others.
Had bell's two years ago and it mad it where one eye can't open as wide as the other eye. Not that noticeable but I feel it makes me look ugly. Hope this video helps.
I am a 37-year-old male living in Korea. I recently had facial paralysis, so I watched the video while I was looking for exercise. It was very helpful. Thank you very much.
I just got bells palsy today i hope this will help me. Im scared at first but once i watch recoveries from this im now calm. Thanks for this kind of videos.
I'm just over 8 months from onset and I think about 80% recovered. I did steroids for the first ten days, then began acupuncture three times a week and facial exercises when I wasn't being poked. The first two months I saw little improvement, but after that the healing started and I would say I hit about 70% at the six month mark. I still feel I am healing, but it is very slow going. My smile is *almost* back to normal...my affected side does not form that sharp point you get when you smile, but it is close. My affected eye still tears up, but not nearly as much, and I can wear contacts just fine now. I hope I still have healing to do, I would hate to think this is as good as it gets. But I'm also at the point where I'd be ok with it (meaning I'm "passable") if I healed no further. I am trying more exercises now...I am still weak around the corner of my mouth on the affected side...when I roll my tongue it gets shoved to one side and when I flex that muscle, my lower eyelid droops ever so slightly. I think that might be synkinesis? I have heard botox can help that but I'm not too keen on that. I also have a wooshing sound in my ear on the affected side, but all in all...so much better than when I was first diagnosed. I'm a 46 year old male, and I actually had Bell's on the opposite side of my face when I was 30. It was much milder and resolved in just a couple of weeks. This time was a bear, and I worry about what could happen if I get it a third time. But thank you for these exercises, I find myself contorting my face all the time to help the muscles work, but I make sure I do it in private. :) I also take lots of vitamin B supplements, as those are good for nerves in general. So for those newly diagnosed: it gets better! The older you are I think it's fair to say that the healing is slower, but just be patient and your body will heal. Best wishes to all!
Thanks for sharing your story! I think you are definitely right, and unfortunately as we age, healing is much slower. Good luck, and I hope you get a full recovery!
How was the acupuncture? I've had Bell's palsy in the left side of my face a little over a year. My left eye tears up constantly and my eye is also smaller than my right. The left side of my face also droops down a bit.
Rebecca Almader I feel like it helped...as my MD said, it can't hurt. I mean I can't say I walked out of any particular session thinking "man, my bell's palsy is so much better!" but overall I feel like it was worth doing and that I'm better off having done it rather than not. I even went to a specialist who trained in China for a few years just to treat Bell's. If (dog forbid) I get it again, I'd definitely get acupuncture again. Keep in mind everybody heals differently and at different rates, so chin up, you can still be healing even a year later. I did most of my healing in the first three-four months, and the rest has been much much slower. You'll get there. :)
@@MikeMorgan Hi Mike! Have you fully recovered? Reading the first few lines of your comment is literally reading my own story. I am 5.5 months in now. The corner of my month still can't pull up, can't pucker and can't move my eyebrow. So wondering how are you right now. Thanks!
i had this 15 days ago my experience: day 1 - 3(worst) cant close my left eye completely(teary), difficulty in chewing food, half of my face feels heavy and thick and deppressed of having this, day 2 start of bcomplex and steriod day 4 - 9 no improvement, less deprresed(somehow accepted my condition because im too stressed too), less feeling of heavier face muscle( starts to massagge face but no improvement) day 10 - 12 i think there's 10% of improvement on my blinking( watery eyes no more) and chewing feels better(some food stuck on my weak mouth side), but my face has still no improvement day 13 up to now- i can blink and chew food better.. i think 80% improvement over all ( recovery start 2 weeks they said and and yes it applies for me)

This helped a lot thank you. I’ve been doing this for a couple months, unfortunately my bells has been healing for close to 8 month now. I have MS and I just thought it was that but after talking with my neurologist I found out it wasn’t related. These exercises have helped more than anything else I’ve tried.
Just diagnosed today. The comments make me hopeful. Will start these exercises and also some stress relieving activities. My diagnosis: Bells Palsy triggered by Ramsey Hunters Syndrome caused by shingles virus (no other symptoms at least not yet) triggered by High Stress. Be well.
I had it when I was 10 years old. Even after completely treated, you can still see the right side of my face a little deformed compared to the left side to this day. I can feel everything, I can move them, except that my brows and cheeks are still drooped, and my smile is not symmetrical anymore. It amplified my insecurities. But oh well, not everyone is perfect and I have to accept to live with this until then.

AskDoctorJo Is it true that vitamin B12 can be used to treat Bell’s Palsy?
Thank you.

Stress can trigger BP at times its hard but stay positive.
Try Yoga - "Anulom Vilom" for treating paralysis.

I was diagnosed yesterday and just reading these comments is helping me in the moment. I feel broken and defeated reading that some people were able to recover gives me some hope
I am also
Was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy on the left side of my face exactly two weeks ago, I'm 29 years old.

Thank you.
You're welcome. I hope they help.
You're welcome.
For how long do we do the exercises?
Praying everyone heals healthy 🙌🏼
Thank you -doctor jo- my wife was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy yesterday and i did not hesitate to take her to the hospital cuz one minute she’s was fine and the next she felt different now she’s under medication and just having her stay positive reading the comments really makes me feel better knowing she’s not the only one with Bell’s palsy I’m having her do your exercise and I’m so great full keep your head up every one that is going threw this will get threw this together.
You're welcome. I hope she heals quickly.
My husband was just diagnosed today. I found this video while trying to be proactive seeing there isn't much else I can do. The comments give me a lot of hope, so thank you.
You're welcome.
i was afraid when i first got it andi thought it wont go away but ive lived with it and didnt die do the exercise trust God and it will be ok
Is it curable?
Thank you Doctor Jo!😉👍❤ I was so scared when I was diagnosed with this yesterday but this exercises are already starting to help.
You're welcome!
I am day 9, just found these....huge help!!! Trying to stay positive 😌 x
Good luck with your continued recovery.
You're welcome, and thanks. I hope they help.
How are you now? I was diagnosed 2 weeks ago, and just wondered if everything will ever return to 'normal.' Thank you.
Thank you for this video!!! I got diagnosed with Bell's Palsy, released from the hospital without exercises.
You're welcome!

It's my 29th day and I just found this video. It's helpful, a lot. And the comments are so positive. Thanks y'all. I'm gonna get back to the classroom and teach my school children. I miss them.
Got diagnosed 3 days ago. Trying to stay positive because mentally, it can be a lot. But I know that I will be healed.
Great easy exercise thanks! My question is how long did it take you to see improvements and how often should i do these exercises for a speedy recovery?
Thanks, and you're welcome. I didn't have it, but it is different for everyone. I would recommend doing them 1-2 times a day. Good luck.
Got it about two days ago and I'm wondering how many sets i must do per day

I have bells palsy now.😩
Had this about 5 years ago and just got it again...very annoying symptoms. Was checking out your great video to remember the exercises. Thank you for the information.
You’re welcome.
Brother same here , I had this 10 year ago and it happened to me again
What is your update ?
Did you recover ?
I'm a week into this after the usual scary moment thinking it's a stroke. Well, if you are reading this, what you had wasn't a stroke but Bell's palsy. We should all be happy about that! Hard to think about positive thoughts when your face is half smiling and half crying, literally. But it is getting better little by little. Started antivirals and antiinflammatories right away, and physio a few days after. Looking forward to getting fully recovered. And very thankful for all the positive messages here!
How are you doing now?
I'm going on 6 weeks and have seen zero change yet. Glad I decided to check out this video and read the comments because honestly the mental part is the hardest. The depression and anxiety, to me, are harder than the actual physical challenge
I’m on 6 weeks today. Absolutely no improvement… yes- the mental part is the hardest!!! I’m gonna do my exercises and keep praying!
hey guys, have you recovered?
I suddenly got this 2 days ago. Very scary, especially since I'm only 25. I hope I'm not also hit with Corona since the medication prednizolon weakens the immune system.
Let's hope the medication and excersizes help in a speedy as possible recovery
Hope you are recovering. Stay positive and trust the process.
I looked it up and recovery goes a lot quicker and better when you go see one of them (when you have some movement, until then it's just waiting)
In the beginning I got recommended to massage my face and try to relax it as much as possible
@D see an acupuncturist if you can. That helped me. Stay positive get rest.
Or... face saver? :D
You're welcome! I hope they help.
Edit- I just looked at the huge volume of information you've given in your many videos.
It's not always what people think, but it is so rewarding to be able to help people:-)
just graduated high school and got diagnosed with these today .. starting the excercises before sleeping hope i will recover quickly and healthy again
What can you do to get the natural blink working ?
its not life threatening, but it is defintiely life altering.
You're welcome, and thanks for your encouraging words for others. Good luck with your recovery.
Had bell's two years ago and it mad it where one eye can't open as wide as the other eye. Not that noticeable but I feel it makes me look ugly. Hope this video helps.
I hope it helps too. Good luck.
I am a 37-year-old male living in Korea. I recently had facial paralysis, so I watched the video while I was looking for exercise. It was very helpful. Thank you very much.
You're welcome.
I just got bells palsy today i hope this will help me. Im scared at first but once i watch recoveries from this im now calm. Thanks for this kind of videos.
You're welcome.
Same
I'm just over 8 months from onset and I think about 80% recovered.
Thanks!
Thanks for the tip. I am going through with this problem for the last couple of weeks. I am recovering slowly.
You're welcome. Good luck.
i had this 15 days ago
my experience:
day 1 - 3(worst) cant close my left eye completely(teary), difficulty in chewing food, half of my face feels heavy and thick and deppressed of having this, day 2 start of bcomplex and steriod
day 4 - 9 no improvement, less deprresed(somehow accepted my condition because im too stressed too), less feeling of heavier face muscle( starts to massagge face but no improvement)
day 10 - 12 i think there's 10% of improvement on my blinking( watery eyes no more) and chewing feels better(some food stuck on my weak mouth side), but my face has still no improvement
day 13 up to now- i can blink and chew food better.. i think 80% improvement over all ( recovery start 2 weeks they said and and yes it applies for me)
My friend was diagnosed with this two days ago...he been on meds and he says he can close his eyes on his own. Dr. Told him it should go away in a week..but reading these comments. I'm afraid to tell him it might take longer for healing
How are you today carlo?
@@Ardelin2 day 14- unitl now.. little by little, my smile, chewing, no more teary eye, blinking are all normal except from the size of my eye( 95% recovered i think)..
but still my body want more rest.. and im back to work and business on day 14
Congratulations Carlo, hope you are always healthy. I’m on my 4th day today and it starts to get on my nerves
@@MZLIBRA1969 yeah... reading comments and testimonies scared me too.. some took 6 months, 1.5 years, some are reoccurring and some are permanent..
but remember, different people, different cases... but im hoping for his fast recovery
This helped a lot thank you. I’ve been doing this for a couple months, unfortunately my bells has been healing for close to 8 month now. I have MS and I just thought it was that but after talking with my neurologist I found out it wasn’t related. These exercises have helped more than anything else I’ve tried.
You're welcome.
Be well.
Good luck with your recovery.
Same dear my story is like you
Same. I will try acupuncture and exercises. And will update you then after 2 months if i get any better
i had this a long time ago and recoevered and i've noticed that one of my eyelids is now a little lower and it's bothering me so much. i really hope these exercises can help to lift it otherwise i'll hate this for the rest of my life
Me too :( How did it go? Any progress?
@@nicoleoyetunji6460 :( i can't quite tell if it's improved it looks about the same to me, maybe a small amount lifted. i will say i haven't done the exercises daily tho only a couple of times a week.
@@444milk thank you for replying. I will pray for us both to recover. Sending you lots of love , have a good day 💕🌹

Hello can you please tell me how long took your sister to recovry and what process she have done
I got it when I was 26. Then again at 30! I'm 61 now, but I've noticed that my smile is completely crooked again!. I've been doing all kinds of facial exercises to try and improve it but to no avail! My smile was just fine just 4 yrs!
I meant to say that my smile was fine 4 yrs ago.
@@hunnikhan3107 well she was fully healed from bells palsy after 1 month she took steroids and some antibiotics..first she had pain under her ear like literally extreme pain after that her half face was drooping specially her smile took us shocked then we take her to the neurologist

Aww thank you 😊
Got this yesterday, woke up really feeling unusual today because I'm a very funny person who always smile and today can't make it perfectly. Praying for you all as well.
thank you for making this a little humorous :) I've been down a bit as I got BP a few days ago on my 16th b-day- what a great present am I right? Anyway, day 4 coming up, wish me luck ❤
You're welcome. Happy birthday, and good luck!
Thanks for your help, you really explain the exercises well. I'm also wearing a pirate patch now to help with eye which gets very dry and it also helps. Thank you again Dr. Jo.
