I consider the fact that people become lazy when we give them paychecks but i think as a society we should strive for higher standards of living for those at bottom in this case the difference between a janitor and a software developer would be that a developer can spend money on indulgence and luxury while janitor on living a decent life with dignity.
@@madhavmathur4008 my argument might sound like a strawman to you but here it is. A person with low iq should not be a surgeon or an engineer. There is a reason there are high paying jobs in society. Equality of Opportunities and to that point Equality of Outcome only works well when people have a fair starting point. Take this example: A poor ostracized backward class girl in a remote village preparing for JEE versus a well off general class boy living in a city. Do they have Equality of Opportunity just because the girl managed to attempt the exam? This is a very complex subject and people are over simplifying and criticising the basic idea of Reservation in India are dreamt by the founders of Indian Constitution
A lot of females prefer maths over biology and a lot of men prefer biology over mathematics,so there's nothing programming of mind or anything. Many women take nurses jobs because their parents want them to do this instead of going into maths field. Everyone should pursue their interested domains also ,there must be equal and fair opportunities to select from the options.
lol ever went to a maths class? you would almost always find more girls in a bio class in comparison of a math class, and most females don't like math you can try and look for examples near you also
There are studies that show where cultural influence is minimum like Scandinavia, where most people choose their careers based on their interest , women tend to go into jobs like nursing over engineering. In India parents don't force their daughters to be nurses, they want them to become doctors. Because doctors get paid more. Girls generally perform better than boys in school. So right after school, we see most top performing girls choose biology.
@@sanket.solanke there are so many gendered expectations and stereotypes that affect our choices. How do we know if women naturally want to become nurses but not engineers or this is because of the stereotypes that say that men are more technical and intelligent than women. We know that stereotypes affect people's performance. There were several studies done on it. In one study people were divided into 3 groups. In each group number of men and women was equal. They all had to take a math test. The first group was told a stereotype that men were better at math than women before the test. The second group was told that men were better at math than women but were also told that it was just a stereotype and it isn't true. The third group was told nothing. When checked the average score of men and women for every group the result was like this. In The first group (which was told the stereotype), Men scored higher than women on average in the math test In The second group (which was told the stereotype but also told that it wasn't true), Men still scored higher than women on average. In the third group (which was not told any stereotype before exam), Men and Women scored the same on average. Same study was replicated but with a stereotype that Women were better at English then Men (Because there is stereotype like that in the West) and they found that when people were told this stereotype before English test, Women scored more than men on average. But when they weren't told the stereotype both Men and women scored the same. People tend to choose subjects and degrees they think they are good at. If women don't feel they are good at math they would not choose degrees that need people to be good at math. And it is shown in studies. So, as you can see from this, how can we believe that women's choice of job is not influenced by stereotypes. This is where this Equality of Opportunity does not equal Equality of Outcome becomes problematic.
Equality of outcome is needed to eliminate social problems.. Government should provide atleast a basic lifestyle to its citizens.. Complete equality can't be achieved you can't say to tax a poor person same and same with loans , rich ones don't need loans.. So there should be a basic help and after that there should be equality of opportunity
Equality of outcomes creates more social problems than it solves. It is evident from your second statement that you think quality of life is a responsibility of the government. It is not. Poor people are taxed less than the rich already. And that won't change regardless of equality of outcomes. And on the case of loans. The way they work is corporate trust. If a bank cannot trust the lendee with the money, then it refuses the loan. That's why rich people get away with idiotically high loans and scams while poor people don't even get loans for a sacrosanct purpose. The deal is to improve the way trust is generated. Why do you think our country has brain drain? Why do you think we have election mafias? Why do you think we have huge corporate scams occuring everY f*ing decade? The issue is the system is made to feel that it is based on equality of outcome when it is based on basic unequal allocation of trust.
In one of his session Sadhguru rightly quoted, Society will see a significant transformation, if we see carpentry and engineering equally as a career! In India, 20% population is employed in corporates while 80% is self-employed. But yes, as Varun said, Equality of outcome will be quite different.
Equality of outcome in case of carpenter will mean - give same salary to a poor carpenter even if he takes 1 month to do a chair, same as that of a skilled carpenter, who will do a chair in one day. So is it just?
Yes, but don't you think the top tier has more opportunity than the average, now some will say Yes they work hard for it but it's not the poor person's fault that he has born poor. Maybe he could work more harder if an opportunity had been given. The top 1% in the USA owns 34% of wealth and the top 10 has 70%. I am not saying we should take all wealth and distribute it non-worthy, but we can create a system that will help in giving opportunities to the less fortunate.
top has more opportunity because they earned it more than the average. Opportunities are not handed over to everyone, one must earn to find that opportunity to break out of the poor life cycle
And just because Elon Musk worked harder than an average person, does it mean that he deserve a billion dollars or something. Don't people who work in his company actually do most of the work that make him money? Do Billionaires work harder than janitors or people who have 2 jobs at the same time?
This is the first video from a series of videos(or shorts) of Varun bhai that I see him spitting facts. As for others, I feel his own opinion will change on them over time.
The main reason some really smart people support equality of outcome is cus of differences between different groups of people. For example lets take the reserved class and general class. Now due to historical context, reserved section of india did not attain alot of economic wealth right while the upper caste gained a good chunk of it. Now lets assume at independance the total economic condition of upper caste was say 30% better than lower caste india. Now even if u give them similar opportunities to both grps wealth grow at similar rates of say 1% then the difference will never be removed. Also lower class means lesser connections, worse mindset of ppl around u etc, so the wealth increase % is usually less. In essence this problem is almost unsolvable though not completely impossible. The main thing is that to make this lesser wealthy community more better off u have to change mindset, improve connections and many other things which honestly might take decades, so thats why this idea is floated around. Also i too dont support equality of outcome.
Bro equality of opportunity never gonna happen because of SOCIAL CAPITAL The concept was originally given by James Coleman. It describes the sum total of relations that exist between individuals, both within families and outside family, in the community and outside the community as well. Social knowledge and connections also help people to accomplish their goals and extend influence. Like physical capital, it is also an asset as it helps individuals to grow in their lives and have better opportunities in terms of employment, education, etc. Social capital is higher where community bonds are stronger.
Yes.. And rich people are gonna have way more connections (or just buy opportunities & connections) than poor people who have to work for 12 hours a day just to get by.. They don't have either time or money to make connections.. Won't stimulus checks help here? What Varun forgot is the same govt that gave stimulus checks to people also gave 10x money to corporations & banks when they were collapsing, buys lot of corporate debt & junk bonds during quantitative easing, etc.. And people just getting crumbs as stimulus checks is a problem here...
Equal outcome such as quota system or reservation system in India is gross injustice against qualified candidates. This must stop. If someone has social capital, and he is brilliant then he deserves the reward, why promote an undeserving person who lacks merit? It's plain Injustice.
Bro u are confusing with the father's outcome and heirs opportunities. It's both Linked but u are talking about equalizing father's outcome to Equalize heirs opportunity.
@@parabinda yes, reverse exploitation is not the solution to "lower castes were exploited " problem. the real problem is that lower castes don't get many opportunities to build merit, because they are poor. poverty is the problem, not the caste. even for upper caste, reservation is issue because of poverty, not because of caste. reservation is just a band aid on the problem of poverty, not a solution that addresses the root cause of it, & yes, many rich people take advantage of reservation, & that is the source of anger to upper castes, not that poor lower castes are helped by reservation. The main problem here is rich & poor classes, not upper & lower castes..
I don't really agree with this video. If you consider the examples given in a vacuum. yes, what you said makes sense. But the real world isn't this simple. There are situations where equality of outcome is justified and where it isn't. An example would be, It wouldn't be fair to make Google pay 90% of its revenue to the masses just because it was the first ever search engine. But taxing it, is valid in a case where Google is found suppressing other search engines or competitors from emerging just because it was first and has the money to do it. I agree I wouldn't move to the US with the current state it is in, it isnt because of its high taxes but how it fails to use the high taxes to benefit the people. The thing about men choosing engineering and women choosing nursing is a little weird. It all comes down to how you are and how you were raised. If you are a girl raised to be good at math and encouraged to be analytical, you will do well in engineering. If you are a boy who was encouraged to be caring and observant and help others, you will do well in nursing. There can be boys who are already caring by birth and girls who are already analytical by birth. It's an incorrect association, in my opinion. Gender and talent. Anyways. I generally like your videos, especially the one about the indian market. Just happen to disagree with this one👍
Man its basic brain structure Their have been researches that if you give same freedom of choice to man and woman their will always women choose being doctor more than chooosing to be an engineer I know you may have watched some psuedo woke stuff
But how do we define the boundary of equal opportunity and equal outcome? For instance let's take that JEE example, One can argue that getting into IIT is an opportunity for a better future, and similarly we can argue that Getting into a good company is an opportunity for a better paycheck and then we argue it is a better opportunity for living comfortably so on and so forth.
Its more of a equality of opportunity and less of equality of outcome. While I partially agree with you, if we take the example of JEE: Let's say Ramesh who worked harder gets into IITs and leads a better life as compared to somebody like Ram who did not work hard.
Equality of opportunity and outcome have clear definitions. In any event, outcome is similar inspite of the different input, then it is equality of outcome. In any event, where everyone is given same opportunity to provide their input, then it's equality of opportunity. You took example of JEE, you may think of it as an opportunity, but it's not. It's just an event. Does everyone get equal opportunity to give JEE? Yes that mean it has equality of opportunity. On top of that do people's performance (input) matter for the outcome? Yes but only for their perticular group in caste division. Someone with reservation can get same outcome with 40 marks as someone with no reservations with 100 marks. different inputs leading to same outcome. That means JEE also has selective equality of outcome. Selective equality of outcome is more dangerous, inherently oppressive and discriminatory. It is based on belief that one group deserves better than others, regardless of performance.
I think there are problem in equality of opportunity too for instance how would you deal with people who have low iq, they are not responsible for their iq cuz inherently some humans will have really high iq while some will have extremely low and such people account for 20% of world population and if we go by your logic they will be inherently inferior and i think this will make class difference more steep. " BASELINE " Correct ... But Maya u need to consider that when that equal baseline(food, shelter, clothing, books) for everyone is not present there u don't have a equality in opportunity and to compensate that u need provide equality in outcome e.g. reservation etc. Problem here is not with the concept but the implementation when lazy people with enough resources are considered under equality of outcome. And taxes should be there.. uk how much % of emissions these billionaires account for they should be taxed on that but not on their numbers. Plus scientists, philanthropists should be respected like celebrities who really bring life changing innovations.
the problem you need to understand is that the " reservation system" used in " India " in a is a very very bad equality of outcome even worse as the person doing nothing gets more for belonging to a particular caste(scst) whereas others after putting a lot of hard get nothing. so, this basically uplifts the lazy ,who obviously won't work after getting a higher position and discriminates against the hard working people who would have worked if given chance. ultimately leading to very slow economic growth. ""so, what should be done?"" as he(varun sir) in the video said INDIA should adopt equality of opportunity and give everyone proper education and training. And everything till a baseline and stop giving high job position to lazy people. Only those who work must get. And others will also get motivated to work and get better.
There are pros and cons to every system. I'm thankful India is a mix economy right from the start. The complication is the act of balancing it all. Elon Musk pays the highest tax but he has also game the system to grow his wealth. The same is true for most industrialist in our country.
Sometimes i think of this as its not race or parenting or anything... The person out there is good/bad... We can see son not being as good as father Say :: Abhishek bacchan Exception:: amithabh bacchan You ll look at normal people and see they them struggling with addiction Well Rahul Dravid would never struggle with addiction. So all these silly issue occur only to stupid 89% people Best way to get out of it is Try to be in company of those anyone from that 10% people category around you who are wise ... 10% who want to be better Cause those 1%people can't be approached by all.

Hey Varun, I just wanted to mention that inherent gender programming is an outdated myth, the reason most women tend to prefer nursing, is because often in engineering roles women are not taken seriously and are given less opportunities even when they outperform their male collogues. Also with regards to the stimulus checks in the us, you skipped over the point that it hugely revitalized their economy, also life is very unfair, just because you work hard it doesn't guarantee success. Also the vast majority of people used their stimulus checks, to pay rent and to buy food to survive. the idea of the rich us person is of a privileged few, a lot of people in the us earn minimum wage and barely make ends meet, they do not have equality of opportunity because they do not have the choice to strive for a better life, because that would mean going homeless or starving. the median household income in the us is 40k usd which is peanuts in a lot of the cities. I am a huge fan of you Varun but this whole video is a very privileged take. I am not denying that you had worked incredibly hard to reach where you are right now, but not everyone is given those opportunities. Also to those talking about reservation in india, it is a flawed system, but the unfair points goes both ways, a student who got a lower rank might get into a medical or engeneering or medical college because of his caste, but at the same time in general upper caste people do have greater access to privatized education, where the average students score is even lower than those who got in through reservation. I am not saying the system isn't flawed, but purely mentioning the advantages of removing such a system without considering other implications is disingenuous. Edit: I am not vouching for equality of outcome, it's just that equality of opportunity is not good enough yet. Edit: Scammer bot in comments is impersonating Varun , watch out.
Inherent gender programming is not an myth its true, the point you mentioned is absolutely wrong the reason most women tend to prefer nursing is not as you stated Infact what you stated later is an outdated myth, Women specifically selected nursing as their career cuz they don't like engineering task which require hard work, and is much more difficult. Women always prefer safe and less problematic and biologically suitable task. Women have equal opportunities in both medical and engineering fields and equal pays too but they didnt chose engineering for their comfort and nothing else .Men even implemented reservations for women for everything and most importantly for education, universities, jobs but still they dont want to use it and always complain about we are given less opportunities. When women says engineering it mean engineering as a whole. Not just IT jobs or CSE, why dont they become petroleum engineers, electricians, plumber, chemical engineer, mechanical engineer, civil engineer and metallurgical engineer etc. It was never that women dont get equal oppurtunities in this field check latest data there is not such inequality for women in these field but still they dont want to do that cuz these are very difficult, engaging task and women prefer safe and less problematic task. They always just complain and complain. Also women are not equal as men (in all aspects) so you cant say that task which is done by men can also be done by women, No it cant be . Some task require heavy energy, difficult work, more stamina, more control which can be done by men only,Eg: Army Also dont state any pay gap between women and men there is actually no paygap between them, Both get same amount to what they deserved in all field. No women is getting less than their men co workers they get paid less on basis of what they generate but men are getting always less than what they deserve due to reservations for women cuz women dont generate same amount of money what men generates. These women just want them to dominate which they cant so they starts feminism, feminist, racial descrimination, and all that stuff cuz women feels themselves all the time insecure cuz they are not as much strong as men and they dont have equality which is a wrong fact. women and men in todays world have equal opportunities but they cant be given equal outcomes as men cuz men is potentially better than women in every task so women cant get paid same as a men for doing less task than men. Also almost there is no such engineering field where women outperfoms their male counterpart they just do jobsand not engineering tasks like electrician, civil, mechanical etc ,jobs can be done by anyone that is not difficult than task i mentioned later also women who outperforms their male counterpart gets more wages for their extra work

This is fair. As people who have voluntarily take care of the basic needs of the needy. And beyond that based on your merit and inclination you are at par with others when it comes to opportunity. Now what you do not of your opportunity is what you get. No compromise can be done on that
Salary also depend on how you negotiate whole taking the job Thats not a good idea because a company will be willing different peoples to pay diffrent amount for same work Depending on ir they have past work experience and many more
Everyone has privileges. Equality of should not be given on basis that some people have certain privilege and some don't. For example, if you want a pilot to operate a 50 million$ fighter jet. Will you choose a person who fits all height, weight, fitness and medical criteria or will you choose a disabled person who does not meet the requirements. Disabled person is certainly underprivileged than the healthy pilot, so will you lower the merit and ignore the requirements and appoint a disabled persons to fly in the name of equality of outcome. Same goes for every sector, wherever requirements are lowered on basis of lack of privilege, we see merit naturally goes down and overall quality takes a hit.

lol ever went to a maths class? you would almost always find more girls in a bio class in comparison of a math class, and most females don't like math you can try and look for examples near you also
There are studies that show where cultural influence is minimum like Scandinavia, where most people choose their careers based on their interest , women tend to go into jobs like nursing over engineering.
In India parents don't force their daughters to be nurses, they want them to become doctors. Because doctors get paid more. Girls generally perform better than boys in school. So right after school, we see most top performing girls choose biology.
Exceptions don't disprove the rule.
In The first group (which was told the stereotype), Men scored higher than women on average in the math test
In The second group (which was told the stereotype but also told that it wasn't true), Men still scored higher than women on average.
In the third group (which was not told any stereotype before exam), Men and Women scored the same on average.
Same study was replicated but with a stereotype that Women were better at English then Men (Because there is stereotype like that in the West)
and they found that when people were told this stereotype before English test, Women scored more than men on average.
You spoke my heart out man. Be careful many people will start hating you!
Yes, but don't you think the top tier has more opportunity than the average, now some will say Yes they work hard for it but
it's not the poor person's fault that he has born poor.
The top tiers can have the resources which the poor will never get in time. Money matters
And just because Elon Musk worked harder than an average person, does it mean that he deserve a billion dollars or something.
Don't people who work in his company actually do most of the work that make him money?
Do Billionaires work harder than janitors or people who have 2 jobs at the same time?
@@vishwasdhananjay8213 Yeah opportunity is given by your parents.
Reservations have killed merit in India and that's why the majority of talent is leaving India.
Talent is leaving India because it is a sh!t hole that provides no opportunity to people. And merit is just a colonial myth. Cope and seeth
This reminds me of Jordan Peterson. Very resonant with what he said.
This is the first video from a series of videos(or shorts) of Varun bhai that I see him spitting facts. As for others, I feel his own opinion will change on them over time.
But that is what life is
The main reason some really smart people support equality of outcome is cus of differences between different groups of people.
Man ur videos just hit us so hard salute 💓
Bro equality of opportunity never gonna happen because of SOCIAL CAPITAL
The concept was originally given by James Coleman.

Rahul Ramesh was literally my senior in college
Man its basic brain structure
Their have been researches that if you give same freedom of choice to man and woman their will always women choose being doctor more than chooosing to be an engineer

Loved your content. I wish it could be available in Hindi for my family.
But how do we define the boundary of equal opportunity and equal outcome?
For instance let's take that JEE example,
One can argue that getting into IIT is an opportunity for a better future, and similarly we can argue that Getting into a good company is an opportunity for a better paycheck and then we argue it is a better opportunity for living comfortably so on and so forth.
Its more of a equality of opportunity and less of equality of outcome. While I partially agree with you, if we take the example of JEE:
Let's say Ramesh who worked harder gets into IITs and leads a better life as compared to somebody like Ram who did not work hard.
I consider the fact that people become lazy when we give them paychecks but i think as a society we should strive for higher standards of living for those at bottom in this case the difference between a janitor and a software developer would be that a developer can spend money on indulgence and luxury while janitor on living a decent life with dignity.
Agree with every single words of yours in this video! ❤

Well, I can see that he watches Jordan Peterson's videos a lot. The problem with the women would choose to be nurses because of programming and men engineers is that it is NOT true.

Life is surely not random in india .
It has been segregated on the basis of caste for centuries.
When is Cero 3 coming???
Yesssir when? (༎ຶ ෴ ༎ຶ)
I'm loving the random goku figure on the left 😂
" Life is random and some people just get lucky. "
Bro ur insight on every topic is superb
" BASELINE " Correct ... But Maya u need to consider that when that equal baseline(food, shelter, clothing, books) for everyone is not present there u don't have a equality in opportunity and to compensate that u need provide equality in outcome e.g. reservation etc.
Problem here is not with the concept but the implementation when lazy people with enough resources are considered under equality of outcome.
And taxes should be there.. uk how much % of emissions these billionaires account for they should be taxed on that but not on their numbers.
Plus scientists, philanthropists should be respected like celebrities who really bring life changing innovations.
u are bringing peterson and others to indian guys. that s nice and smart.
the problem you need to understand is that the " reservation system" used in " India " in a is a very very bad equality of outcome even worse as the person doing nothing gets more for belonging to a particular caste(scst) whereas others after putting a lot of hard get nothing.
so, this basically uplifts the lazy ,who obviously won't work after getting a higher position and discriminates against the hard working people who would have worked if given chance.
ultimately leading to very slow economic growth.
""so, what should be done?""
as he(varun sir) in the video said INDIA should adopt equality of opportunity and give everyone proper education and training. And everything till a baseline and stop giving high job position to lazy people. Only those who work must get. And others will also get motivated to work and get better.

1. Tell us about sources to catch up with everyday emerging technologies.
2. Also you're very active on Twitter, so recommed some expert people in the field of AI.
Varun should just hope any woke mainstream person doesn't watch this
Hey Varun, I just wanted to mention that inherent gender programming is an outdated myth, the reason most women tend to prefer nursing, is because often in engineering roles women are not taken seriously and are given less opportunities even when they outperform their male collogues.
Edit:
I am not vouching for equality of outcome, it's just that equality of opportunity is not good enough yet.
Edit: Scammer bot in comments is impersonating Varun , watch out.
I love this comment dude!
100 percent true
Lol. Not all open caste people are rich. And iit, iim and govn colleges are better than private colleges.
Inherent gender programming is not an myth its true, the point you mentioned is absolutely wrong the reason most women tend to prefer nursing is not as you stated
Infact what you stated later is an outdated myth, Women specifically selected nursing as their career cuz they don't like engineering task which require hard work, and is much more difficult.
Some task require heavy energy, difficult work, more stamina, more control which can be done by men only,Eg: Army
Also dont state any pay gap between women and men there is actually no paygap between them,
Both get same amount to what they deserved in all field.
Also almost there is no such engineering field where women outperfoms their male counterpart they just do jobsand not engineering tasks like electrician, civil, mechanical etc ,jobs can be done by anyone that is not difficult than task i mentioned later also women who outperforms their male counterpart gets more wages for their extra work
@@aryansaxena8081 right. In sports they want equal pay. Despite women sports generates less revenue. Meanwhile in modelling women get 10× salary than men models. How does privilege affect the outcome of equality?
@@sanket.solanke
Sadly, the truth is that the privilege in a capitalistic society have a lot of advantages. This is true for india as well as we do not have regulated outcome for everyone. The overall quality is affected and it disrupts the evolution in some ways.
