Feb of this year I also survived an Aortic Dissection. I was hospitalized for 32 days. I am doing better now, but have had many unfortunate "side effects". I had brain swelling, massive blood transfusions, my kidneys were shutting down. I even had seizures during my almost 7 hour long operation. I just turned 47 years old. No history of illness or anything. I literally owe my life to the team that saved me. I have no memory at all of it, for which I am grateful. Every day is a struggle though. You're husband is a very lucky man he had you to look out for him. Every day truly is a gift. It changes you in so many ways when you're actually knocking on that door to the other side, and live to talk about it.
@@forsakenlife4873 i’m so sorry that you are dealing with so much after. It certainly is life altering. I pray that things get better for you. This coming Thursday will be my husband‘s two year check up. Hopefully we have nothing but good news, as he has had to deal with a brain tumor this year and the treatment that goes with it. He had brain surgery in June to get a biopsy and has been on radiation and chemo. He is struggling a lot with the lack of energy to do things, but he has a positive attitude, much better than me! . He is definitely a trooper and we are praying that this thing never returns, in spite of the statistics.
I did not have a heart attack BUT I was having angina that got worse over several months. My doctor was in denial but I consulted a cardiologist who put me on a Holter monitor. 6 weeks later an angiogram showed ONE artery 70% blocked. Heart attack averted! All my tests had been in normal range. Trust what your BODY is telling you.
@@KAT-dg6elthat’s exactly what my primary doctor did. She seemed annoyed when I told her I was going to see a cardiologist. Six months later she was as apologetic as I had hoped she might be. But as we know, most doctors do as the bloodwork dictates. In my case, the blood showed that I was fine.
I avoid CT scans and always ask for MRIs. There is no dangerous radiation with MRIs. Try to limit CT scans as they are much higher in radiation than normal xrays. Glad to hear you are ok
@@now591 one stent was inserted at the time of the angiogram. Then went to heart rehab (monitored supervised cardio) for 4 months. Ignored diet advised by American Heart Association, which is all the things the food pyramid promotes.
HAD a severe heart attack, eight blockages, some up to 90% about 5 years ago.. Only one symptom, a severe pain across my chest. I waited to call 911 until i got the pain in my left arm. There was not even the slightest arm pain, so do not wait for it. After 20 minutes of intense pain I called 911. After three stents I am doing well.
@@David-q4w1b thanks for your prayers. I am fine. EF greater than 45%. I just made the comment so that people would not wait for a pain in their left arm. I did not have any left arm pain at all.
My husband thought he had heartburn for 3 weeks and kept taking tums. He was driving to town to get more tums and lost his vision. He stopped the truck, heard another car coming and waved it down. (We live in the country.) the person that stopped to help him was the head nurse at the icu unit. She told him he was having a heart attack and called an ambulance. 4 stents. 10 years ago and doing well. If he still had tums he would have died at home.
What a miracle! Wow that story gave me chills because how often would someone stop for a stranger waving them down and that person be a nurse that’s going to save their life wow !
My brother in law had the same thing. He thought it was heartburn for weeks. Before dinner, took a nap, and his daughter went to wake him up and she couldn't. Called 911 & he went to hospital & was saved. This was about 3 years ago.
I had literally none of these symptoms except a strange tightness in my upper chest, I drove myself to the hospital and by the time I got there I knew something was seriously wrong and imminent. Shortly after getting into the emergency room I was asked to sit up to take an X-ray. I blacked out and my heart stopped. I was defibrillated and my heart started beating again, then 5 minutes later it stopped again and was defibrillated a second time. I was taken to the Cath lab and had a stent placed in the central artery in my heart. I had a 100% blockage from some plaque that came loose somewhere in my blood stream. I was released from the hospital less than 48 hours later. Moral of the story? Listen to your body and go to the emergency room if you don’t feel right.
Wow that's quite the story, amazing job navigating that experience. I hope I have the same level of self awareness if the time comes. Glad you still exist and enjoy your life 🎉
Hey man i hope you make/made a full recovery and are able to address the underlying cause. Do you mind sharing info on your age, eating, physical activity etc? That helps others to understand the context.
Wanted to share my mother's experience in hopes it may help someone else. Along with the incredible fatigue along with a few of the symptoms mentioned; she did not have chest, arm, or shoulder pain but kept complaining that her tongue felt incredibly heavy. I am a nurse & figured it was her heart & started with her chewing aspirin. She ended up with 4 stents, 2 90% occlusions & 2 75%. That was over 20 years ago & has done well since. So keep eye out for those weird signs & symptoms, not everyone fits in the box.
It is a known fact that the majority of women do not get chest nor arm pain. @@drekbergme too! Your videos are wonderful! You use visual and audio so I need to watch, not just listen. I try to do it when I rest/eat/dishes…I appreciate the 15-20 minute ones. Thanks!
Many of these symptoms are the same as a panic attack. For years I have suffered withe many of these symptoms when I awaken from a sound sleep. I've been checked out by a cardiologist and my heart seems fine. These episodes occur every few months starting a few years ago. I'm a 57-year-old otherwise healthy female.
Same i m 30 male, but i only had it twice. I learned a lot about it and i think i can handle it if it will ever happen again. Meditation the right mindset and breathing exercise help a lot to avoid panic attacks.
Wonderful video. My family has a history of heart disease, so this topic has always been of interest to me. My dad died of a sudden heart attack at 49. Several family members have heart disease. Your videos on heart issues are very important to educate people. Thank you Dr. Ekberg.
What I love about ketosis is that energy has increased My stomach it's a game changer getting flat and I used to hate going to the doctor and Now I love it especially getting good Lab results, My sweet tooth is gone most of all I can enjoy my life again after so many years of Bad health and severe pain.
A month before my grandmother passed away, she was feeling heaviness in the chest and shoulders. I told her three times to get it checked with the doctor during that time. One week before she passed away she was feeling diziness, while she did manage to see a doctor, unfortunately it was not a cardiologist and she was just given medicine for migraine. Four days before she passed away, she was sweating heavily and had discomfort in her stomach, we all just assumed it was constipation. And on her last few hours, she had intense stomach pain that she never felt before and was rushed to the emergency room and after a few minutes she had a heart attack and cardiac arrest. I only wish I took her symptoms more seriously and have seen more educational life saving videos like this since my other grandmother died of heart failure and my uncle died of a heart attack this 2024 as well.
@@Red-n5r my grandmother was intubated towards the end, I don't know if they did the right thing. When she was brought to the emergency room, they probably didn't know she was already having a heart attack.
I had a heart attack about 6 months ago.(at the age of 42) I checked off everything in this video. Don't do like I did and wait as the symptoms stack up. I had 100% blockage in one artery and doc said I wouldn't have made it if I waited even an hour longer. Thankfully now I feel more physically fit than I have in 20 years.
@@raymondciarleglio2394 I was. However, I think the cause of my heart attack was my sedentary lifestyle and the 20+ years of smoking and drinking like a Russian sailor.
A worrying thought I have is that all these symptoms are exactly what I get with anxiety. All my medical diagnosis attributes my left chest pains to anxiety (which they are). But when I eventually get an actual heart problem, I'm sacred of thinking "Oh, just probably a panic attack".
That is partly why you have anxiety. You are worrying too much about these things. These health videos on UA-cam are dangerous, they scare people into a very anxious state. Everything you could possible eat is bad, every symptom could be cancer or a heart attack. The best thing you can do is stay FAR away from these videos. They seem like the are promoting health, but they are promoting fear. Stress from these worries, is FAR worse than anything you will eat. Stay away from these health expert videos and you can thank me later. Enjoy life.
I am getting a stress test on Tuesday to follow up from my ER visit two weeks ago. I had extremely stress for almost a month and now I truly believe it was panic attacks. I eat paleo or at times healthy keto. But checking to make sure. I also have had mold maybe still some and I know it causes all kind of symptoms like pots! So eating healthy helps most of my symptoms but if I start eating gluten free junk like rice flour and some sugar you better believe I feel like crap
I can relate to what your going through. I ended up at the ER a few times thinking I was having a heart attack. It was a severe case of acid reflux. I had all the classic heart attack symptoms but they told me my heart was fine. I asked several doctors and nurses how can a paerson know the difference between heart attacks and acid reflux attacks? They all told me there is no way of knowing. Good to know huh? LOL. I recently asked my primary the same thing, only with anxiety that I am now suffering. I was told that with a heart attack you will feel an intense pressure in your chest like an elephant sitting on you, and you will feel squeezing in your chest. I have been able to get through panic and anxiety attacks easier now, knowing that is all they are. Before I was making them worse by "thinking" I was having a heart attack. Hope this helps 😀
There are malabsorption issues on my father's side, & I Noticed that if I am low on Potassium, and go to ride the bike, it feels like my heart is palpitating and I feel anxious suddenly. I go back home, take a Potassium with a large glass of water and wait about 10 minutes, I go back out no problem. I also take Magnesium at night... I can always tell if my minerals are low... Excellent video...thank you for enhancing our awareness 👍
To be healthy after 40 years, you need to start taking care of your health from the age of 20. But even now it is not too late. Thank you doctor, you are right.
Thank you doc. I am sure you are right. But I (55yrs) feel and get always tired and weak when I am doing nothing - Getting alive while cycling in fresh air.
Intersting video. A year ago I had a 5 x bypass and the only symptom I felt out of those ten was the shortness of breath. No pain, no tiredness, no weakness. In fact I had the symptoms in the morning and drove 700km but only after calling into a hospital with the shortness of breath issue that morning, and being told that I was fine by the hospital. I continued on my journey until around 4pm whereupon I called into another medical clinic where the reception was very different and very serious. A Non-drinker, non-smoker and and an avid cyclist. Next minute I'm on an operating table getting sliced open. Still shocks me even now. The surgeon told me that if I wasn't so fit I would be dead. Didn't stop me from nearly dying though.
You didn't mention "phantom tooth ache", probably associated with the jaw pain you mentioned, but before my heart attack and subsequent bypass surgery I had two molars removed from my RH upper jaw. The dentist didn't want to take them out because he couldn't see anything wrong with the teeth, but I insisted on both separate occasions that the teeth were aching and had to come out. My Cardiologist called it "referred pain".
I had what I thought was tooth ache in the lower right jaw that came and went too, followed by neck or throat tightening. It always went away after a few hours so I didn't go to the dentist.

My dad thought he had influenza. Even slept on the couch so she wouldn't catch it. That's where she found him. This is important information that people have in advance if they just pay attention.
As I understand it, women often go undiagnosed because the symptoms experienced are subtlely different. Inexplicable indigestion- or the sense of indigestion maybe one of those sign.
I wish you’d pointed out that the signs often differ between men and women : such as pain more like indigestion that is often experienced by women (without the typical chest and arm pain) and therefore missed or misdiagnosed.
I had 2 open heart surgery the whole time I knew it was my heart. But my doctors said that my EKg was very good But I had chests pain, left arm and Jaw pain and I was very weak and felt tired. I just had the fatigue and a bit of weakness before my heart attack. It's good to know these, because often the doctors will tell you the first sign of a heart attack is death.
Thank you for sharing these important warning signs of a heart attack! This knowledge could truly save lives. Looking forward to more valuable health insights from your channel!
They do. I got an impending feeling of doom and I cried for no reason. I knew something was wrong but i d8dnt know what. I was actually in the middle of a heart attack. But days before I could not breathe well. I was tired and sleepy. I was agitated. I kept taking aspirin. No idea why. Then I turned grey and I went to see doctor which is why I cried in office because I could not explain that feeling of doom.
Thank You @ElizabethVAllen. There are some differences, but not completely different. It is mostly the ranking of each sign that is different. Also women are more likely to experience subtle symptoms like stress anxiety or GI-issues. (Or maybe men are just more stubborn and ignore them.) 😄
GREAT info as always... Just had an eccograph done on my Carotide arteries, to see if there's any problem. They answer is no! Just a little 1.1mm thickness of the wall, but fortunately no plaques....😀😀
While I was visiting my friend in the hospital. I noticed a food truck in front of the hospital, the cafeteria and patients food + drink machines Was like a bad dream
I’m shocked at the level of sugar being served in hospitals and blood banks. But if all they’ve been taught for 50 years is meat and fat are bad…? All that’s left is sugar. SAD.
Sounds like you have an exciting life. If you watch enough youtube health videos, you won't even want to drink water. Just eat things in moderation, exercise and enjoy life. Don't be a fatty also lol.
Thank you for this clear explanation. I have been struggling with A-Fib for the past seven years. I had 1 ablation then it eventually it came back so went keto/ketovore and didn't fix it until I cut out alcohol and caffeine and started using electrolytes and haven't had any A-fib for over 4 months plus I also take Magnesium Cyanate capsules .I have just recently changed diet to Carnivore in the last few weeks so hope you can sort this out without naturally without another ablation
@@paulbirkbeck1790 The electrolytes I use are called LMNT and are in a powder form.I am not 100% sure what fixed afib but I think it is a combination of Carnivore and cutting out alcohol and caffeine also loosing weight and getting fitter plus I also read somewhere that alcohol and caffeine block the absorbion of the electrolytes which are essential for sending electrical signals to the heart.Hope this helps😀
I just went through this and the only sign I had was angina and severe PVCs/ palpitations. If you get PVCs out of no where and they come and go but never fully go away then this is a sign of your heart struggling. I hope this helps someone.
@ElizabethAdams-r3v Premature ventricular contraction. An extra half beat. Feels like your heart is an off-balance washing machine. I get them occasionally, confirmed by Holter monitor.
lucky for me. I've never experienced any of these sympthoms so far. Constant tiredness and weakness in general is a warning sign that anything isn't as it's used to.
I've had most of these symptoms until I went on a keto diet combined with intermittent fasting. After about 3 weeks or a month all these symptoms were gone and 2.5 years later they haven't returned.
Chest Pressure "like an elephant" or "like an anvil"... is a very ambiguous description. BUT... Everyone can relate to the feeling of swallowing food, but having it kind of get stuck, slowly moving down to the stomach... THAT feeling is the feeling we're talking about. That uncomfortable feeling is VERY similar to the chest pressure of a heart attack. That is an uncomfortable feeling of pressure/discomfort in your upper chest. It's NOT necessarily painful. If you feel that, but you are NOT eating, then GO. See your doctor. NOW. Don't wait. Be the 30% that +survive+ their heart attack. For me, that was a 95% blockage of my Widowmaker.
Imagine a world where you are the head of WHO. We do have very impressive humans capable of making a change your kindness level can only be matched by your knowledge. Thanks.
I had a heart attack about one month ago (my second), and I hope anything here might be of help to people. At 6:00 am, I sat at my desk at work, as normal, and in the next few minutes, I simply felt "unsettled," not sure how else to describe it. After a few minutes, I realized what was happening and I sought help. The result was 3 stents in an artery-bypass graft from 10 years ago. (I had 5 bypasses then; I hope this doesn't mean I have 4 more episodes to go.) During the heart attack, my sense was a severe aching pain. I could breathe normally, except the extreme pain made it difficult. One obvious sign of heart problems (in hindsight) that I was headed for trouble was a bluish tinge to my hands. At my new job, I work with a purple chemical, and even though I wear gloves, I stupidly thought the discoloration was from the chemical, but obviously it was due to heart issues. What is remarkable, and scary, is that I had the heart attack Monday morning. By Monday at noon, I was essentially out-of-the-woods. I went back to work on Thursday that week, because I need the money. Other than a relatively harmless hematoma at the femoral artery catheter site, I'm a walking miracle. I have one last concern, which is the 3 stents in my cardiac artery. By their very presence, they will attract cholesterol to soothe the irritation of a foreign body. My cholesterol was at 290 when they measured it; I got it up from 190 many years ago, and now I have to worry about it clogging the stents. My doctor, good a surgeon as he is, want my cholesterol down to 55, which just makes my brain scream. So, feeling my way along, not sure what to do, and taking it all one day at a time.
LDL cholesterol ~50 is not unusual these days with Pcsk9 inhibitors help. The notion low cholesterol numbers will adversely affect other body parts has not been proven. Going forward, given your history, your must always cognizant of adverse cardiac symptoms.
Hi, if you want to lower your cholesterol, you have to cut out meats , dairy and only use a small amount of avocado oil ( if you must ) when cooking. Good luck and God Bless You
I recently had a heart attack. I had most of symptoms shown here in the weeks and months prior the the heart attack. But even if I had seen this before the heart attack I would not have been able to see a cardiologist in my area. They book out three months or more. You can only get in sooner if you are referred by an ER doctor.
Thank You @Henk136. I just got the feature restored on my account and I will be uploading in multiple languages from now on. I'm also working on translating most of the past videos. 😄
Does it matter? You can't see a cardiologist for 2 months anyway and none of these will show as anything abnormal in the ER, so they'll send you home and tell you to make an appointment with a cardiologist.
In my local hospital, they have vending machines with Red Bull 'energy' drinks in them. I can't think of a more (non alcoholic) unhealthy drink, yet they sell them here. I'm in the UK.
Hi Dr Sten. I’ve had some ongoing health issues that began after preeclampsia, birth trauma, surgery, and COVID-19 in 2020. Despite multiple tests and consultations, I’m still looking for answers. Here’s what I’m experiencing: - Light-headedness, head rushes, and brief blackouts while sitting or standing. - A boat-like swaying sensation and constant disorientation. - Blood pressure spikes to 180/90 upon standing, then normalizes. - Vision disturbances, eye strain, and ear symptoms like crackling and tinnitus. - Heart palpitations with a pulse increase of about 25 bpm that quickly settles. - Extreme fatigue, weakness, body aches, and derealization. My doctor is considering Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). I’d be incredibly grateful for any advice or insights you might have and managing these symptoms. Thanks, Chlöe
I live in the uk and the doctors here are atrocious. They’re terrible. I’ve been to the doctors many times and they don’t do anything. Called an ambulance twice because my heart was beating out of rhythm rapidly on different occasions and the second time the ambulance was called, the ambulance crew just said it’s anxiety lol. Unbelievable medical negligence
I think an irregular heartbeat is just part of the human condition.. my heart skips beats.. pauses, restarts and will beat regularly for a while.. then rinse and repeat. I only notice when Im tired, or simply just focused on it... anxiety can mimic a boatload of problems that might seem serious at the time though..
@@drewpknutz1410 my condition is not remotely the same as you described. Mine can be for days at a time constantly skipping beats. It’s called palpitations. I need to get tested for afib. But in the uk that will be impossible

After more than 20 years living in Japan, I went to developing countries for 2 weeks. Coming back to Japan, I had massive vomiting for hours, totally dehydrated the next day, went to a local doctor, got drips and some medication for my stomach and throat for 2 weeks. I still feel sore in my throat. What should I do next?
Brothers and sisters, trust God when you pray it works. He said all we need to do is ask in prayers. My testimony spans from penury to $127,000 bimonthly, and you stay and doubt that he doesn't answer prayers. Make that altar now and spend time there. A change is in the way. Amen!!!
For women especially, watch for jaw or tooth pain or upper back pain as heart warning signs. For a couple of years before my heart attack, I had bad upper back pain come and go for no apparent reason. Also regularly had what felt like toothache that came and went, usually with neck or throat tightening. My doctor was dismissive of my symptoms, including the shortness of breath on slight exertion, blaming smoking for everything, even after a chest xray showed clear lungs. Doctors have their own biases and can be useless in identifying heart symptoms that are not typical.
I had a "ventricular standstill" with no signs or family history of such things, and which very nearly killed me. I'm now stuck with an ICD for the rest of my time.
I have all symptoms and had my first appointment with my cardiologist a few days ago! But what gets confusing with shoulder pain and arm pain is i tore my biceps, labrum, and rotator cuff years ago and had it scoped but need replacement.
Yes, he does not mention PVCs but that is definitely a sign especially if you have never gotten that before and they start up. The PVCs will come and go but never go away fully. If you are experiencing this you need to get a CCTA 3D heart scan to verify that you do not have a blockage. Many doctors write off PVCs because they are usually harmless but that is only for those people who have always had them. If you've never had them and you start getting them then you need to get checked out. This just happened to me and I had two blockages. I was weeks within having a heart attack but never did because I caught it in time. Now I have three stents and feel great. I hope this helps you.
For me, PVCs were directly related to LAD and RCA 99% blockage. Once I got these taken care of with stents, the PVCs instantly started to subside. It took about 3 weeks before they went away 100%. Obviously, my heart was not getting enough blood and therefore was displaying the PVC symptoms. We are all different but it was directly correlated to my blockages. There is no question about that because once the blockages were gone the PVCs subsided over a 3 week period. In addition, if somebody is truly concerned they can get a troponin blood test. It is used to show heart attack but it can also detect when your heart is struggling. Your high sensitivity troponin level will be either above normal or it will be borderline high. What this is saying is that your heart is struggling and you probably have a blockage.
@@drekbergthanks Doc, and to the others that responded to my comment. I definitely get them due to stress and PTSD from a traumatic experience I went though. Have dysautonomia in late stage so almost all if these symptoms apply because I also have fibromyalgia and neuropathy. Alternating from faint/stroke blood pressure.
Alcohol consumption over time can injure your heart too. Cold sweat is another sign. Weakness can be from low potassium. Need blood work. Get an MRI to see if you have any blockages. Dr ekberg may have a video regarding reversal of some blockage.
Excellent explanation. I had heard of the symptoms, but I didn’t understand why. I really appreciate your work doctor Eckberg, my whole life I over eat sugar and grain and potato products. I was addicted to these carbohydrates and about five years ago I was diagnosed with pre-diabetesz By that time, there was a lot of good information on the Internet from other good doctors like yourself talking about low carbohydrate nutrition And therapeutic fasting. Using this knowledge I’ve reversed my trend to pre-diabetes and I’ve never felt better but I have history of heart and stroke issues in my family so I need to be even more vigilant about Lifestyle and monitoring , my arteries. Again, I’m so Grateful for your honest and life saving work. God bless you.
I've had almost all these signs for over fifteen years now. Never know when to go to the er. Always get told I'm fine. Sliping rib syndrome, cervical stenosis ends up being the culprit.

@@mariehughey5390 How did you resolve the blocked artery?
I avoid CT scans and always ask for MRIs. There is no dangerous radiation with MRIs. Try to limit CT scans as they are much higher in radiation than normal xrays. Glad to hear you are ok

Glad you still exist and enjoy your life 🎉
How old are you?
God bless you. Do u have high cholesterol?
Wow, that was a smart move! I'm glad you're 👍

Unfortunately, many medical providers don't know how to treat these symptoms when presented.

Great points. I've always heard that women could experience some DIFFERENT SYMPTOMS than men. Is that true? How would those be observed?
They do. I got an impending feeling of doom and I cried for no reason. I knew something was wrong but i d8dnt know what. I was actually in the middle of a heart attack.

(I had 5 bypasses then; I hope this doesn't mean I have 4 more episodes to go.)
During the heart attack, my sense was a severe aching pain.
Good luck and God Bless You
Off topic question? Do you have information on Gastroparesis and how to fix it holistically? Thank you for all you do!!!
I recently had a heart attack. I had most of symptoms shown here in the weeks and months prior the the heart attack. But even if I had seen this before the heart attack I would not have been able to see a cardiologist in my area. They book out three months or more. Does it matter? You can't see a cardiologist for 2 months anyway and none of these will show as anything abnormal in the ER, so they'll send you home and tell you to make an appointment with a cardiologist.
I get your point. However, if you want to live you must get aggressive with your self advocacy.
In my local hospital, they have vending machines with Red Bull 'energy' drinks in them.

- Heart palpitations with a pulse increase of about 25 bpm that quickly settles.
- Extreme fatigue, weakness, body aches, and derealization.

Good to know. Thanks. 😊
Amen!!!
God bless you more abundantly for your generosity
But then, what do you do? How do you come about that in that period?
I'm a born Christian and sometimes I feel so down of myself but I still believe in God.
It is the digital market. That's been the secret to this wealth transfer. Thank you Jesus

Do you have any videos on PVC’s? I get palpitations and PVC’s quite frequently.
Thank You @JetBizzle. I don't have a specific one for that, but many arrythmias are due to electrolyte imbalances/deficiencies and stress.
I’ve been taken magnesium supplements and eating bananas for the potassium. I’ve also increased my exercise levels as I find it’s the best stress relief for me. They come and they go. Hoping to rid them forever someday. ❤
Thank you for this. The thumbnail is very confusing unfortunately. So if you have a sore throat don’t worry ❤
Senang terus bisa mengikuti channel bagus ini.
Good information doctor. Thank you.
I've had almost all these signs for over fifteen years now. Never know when to go to the er. Always get told I'm fine. Sliping rib syndrome, cervical stenosis ends up being the culprit.
Please add Czech subtitles!!!!!!!!
Thank you very much!
Kind Regards!
