Have recently reversed prediabetes by taking out carbs from my diet. My experience was, when I was eating carbs, that's what made me hungry. And fat. My weight didn't really come down until I was fat adapted although I didn't have much to lose (7 kg) as my condition was more stress induced than diet induced. My high blood glucose showed up as unexplained migraines. Getting rid of them was the greatest relief. I got my life back :)

This is all so true for me. I used to drink at least 30 Bud Lights a week. I’m not at all proud of that. I was usually only eating one meal a day, but it wasn’t good food. I’ve stopped all the alcohol and embraced Keto. Dr. Ekberg has taught me so much, and I’ve gone from 209 lbs to 193. My goal is 180. Then I’ll weigh what I did when I graduated. Granted I’ve lost muscle mass since I’m 67 years old. Last week I went 3 full consecutive days without eating anything. Just a lot of water and some coffee. I was never hungry during that time. Toward the end, I did start to think of food some, but I know I could have gone another day with relative ease. The only reason I stopped after 3 days was because I got a bit scared, because I was in new territory, so I ate low carb high fat and moderate protein. The next day I did my daily 3 mile walk, and I couldn’t believe the energy I had. It was incredible, I practically wanted to run, but kept it aerobic and finished by walking. I’m proud of the results, knowledge I didn’t have 6 weeks ago, and no more alcohol. I couldn’t have done it without Dr. Ekbergs’ expertise. Thanks Doctor👍👍👍👍👍

Up until I found your page about 3 or 4 months ago I was ready to die. I had already quit all the pills the doctor had me on, wasn’t eating (without realizing this was good for me) & started feeling better for the first time in over 6 yrs. So I started looking to heal myself & that’s when I found you Dr. Ekberg & my life is so much better. At 69 yrs old I thought life was over but I’m actually getting better, even my depression. I’m trying to be patient & I know it’s gonna take time to undo the damage but for the first time in years I have hope. I just want to thank you for giving me the knowledge to heal myself naturally. I live in Michigan so as a senior I’m already leery of the doctors & hospitals. You shared this knowledge free of charge, you can’t even pay a regular doctor for good health advice because all he knows is there’s a pill for that. Thank you Dr. Ekberg for giving me my health back. 😊❤️

About those keto strips: I was 192# 2 years ago (age 71). Started keto only because of my high sugar readings. Weight loss was actually unexpected since I had not watched too many videos on the subject and didn't really know what to expect. At 165# a year ago the strips were getting pretty dark and I was delighted. (Cost me some to buy new pants, though.) Now I'm at 148-151# and the keto strips are barely registering. I was worried but this video went some way to clarifying things. Thanks, doc. Now I need to have my wedding band resized - it falls off when I wash my hands. edit: fyi, my a1c went from 8.2 in 2019 to 5.2 last month. I'll never go back.

All my friends and family talk about all these side effects they got from keto. I believe that a lot of it comes down to how much they cut their calories when going on keto. BTW Dr. Ekberg I always loved your content but didn't watch a lot because your videos are a bit longer than other channels. I no longer feel that way. You are BY FAR the best Teacher on UA-cam IMHO. You just teach on a level that pretty much anyone can understand. And now that I know "why" I should "eat this way" and "exercise" this way, it keeps me even more motivated to stay the course.
To any new viewers out there who just started looking into fasting or intermittent fast and or/keto or just plain health advise? STOP. Look no further. Just watch his videos and learn. And you learn just as much just streaming the UA-cam video on audio in your car or just working out or walking or drinking coffee.

Society, culture and food industry marketing tell us it’s time for breakfast, lunch and then dinner. When our own individual biology kicks in, it will tell us when to truly eat.

what frustrates me is how easily I can lose my fat adaptation and crave sugar and be always hungry the second I let myself go and indulge in sweets or carb heavy meals for one little day. It seems like it's a daily struggle that will never get easier with time. I never get fat but I certainly look and become heavier whenever I start eating carbs again. My skin gets acne (I am almost 30) and my eyes look old, dark, sunken. I look and feel so much better everytime I stop eating carbs and fast again, but I almost forget how they make me feel and look like, because I am surrounded with people who look and feel great even though they eat carbs like anybody else. Part of me always thinks "if they can, so can I" but no, sugar makes me more miserable than the average person. Also psychologically speaking. I checked all 9 signs of being fats adaptive except the mood swings (maybe because I have 2 children under 2 years of age and I’m stressed about them). I lost 28lb in 45days. My waist line went from 35inches to 28.5inches. I exercise and do not feel any hunger or extreme fatigue. My ketone strips did just what you described.

I started keto (I've been averaging around 30-55 total carbs a day and under 20 net carbs a day) about a month ago and I've lost about twelve pounds. My cravings are gone. I miss the convenience and fun of eating out but I feel so much better. I've been eating under 5 grams of sugar a day without an issue. I now know the difference between hunger and craving.

I had double bypass surgery 9 months ago and set myself back twice, by pushing myself to hard, nearly putting myself back in hospital.
Just under 3 months ago I started IF and clean keto, about 100% to 99.9% of the time, and my body, mind set, clarty of thinking, etc has changed for the better! And I suffer with PTSD, and my symptoms have more or less halved. The nightmares, flash backs, mood swings, bitterness anger has mellowed.
I have more work to do but it feels fcking great to be getting back to the old me after so long.
There is so little help out their for men, it's disgusting and I would never have believed it if I hadn't been going through it myself. Fact!

I also love what you said about changing your taste because now, not only sweet things but some processed foods turn off as well. You can change your taste buds! My personality changed a lot, calmer, more understanding for others, easy forgiving, less stress and no more feeling depression. Overall food is no longer my obsession. I've got nearly all 10 signs, but have been struggling with the last 2 and I've been struggling with a stall in weight loss at day 25, likely due to PMS. There's a LOT to all this, and it can be hard to stay focused when you feel fatigue and frustration. But it helps to look at the other non-scale victories, like decreased inflammation and bloat!

Been on carnivore from 2 weeks low carb keto for a week.
Went for a long bike ride 80kms yesterday. Ate small breakfast, eggs and some meat beforehand.
I did that ride several times in the past..40 out and 40 back.
On the outward journey I was exhausted but no hunger.
Had a handful of fries, some little meat and a less than a liter of low sugar drink at the end of the first leg.
I completed the return leg without any exhaustion.

Hey Dr. E, great info on ketone urine strips, and urine ketone measurements! I find so many channels get this all wrong when assessing their ketosis and them urging others to drink exogenous ketones to raise their level when their readings are low, such incorrect info is abundant. I love your approach and explanation here, it is so sensible...

Uterine strips are terrible. Only tells you how much ketones you are expelling out in your urine. You need to draw blood to get accurate amount of ketones in your body. First test blood glucose levels and then ketone level. There is a relationship between the two. Blood glucose under 80 is absolutely necessary to be inketosis. I’ve done keto for two years and if my glucose is above 82...I’m out of ketosis for sure.

@@living9377 It is also possible to have low glucose and be far far away from ketosis. Prediabetes with a high tolerance insulin resistance can do that. It's a 75-85 glucose window that's safe actually. But below 75 is a no go.

I do mostly 16/8 with a 24 hours once a week, and if I was a good boy , I reward myself with a small 30gr chocolate at the end of the week, but even that needs to follow the rule of, fat =>carbs+prot , so 72% dark ones or a high fat milk ones which I've found at some supermarkets here in UK, and that's enough to keep me happy and take my mind from other carbs.
