- I've got the Prime Go and the Prime 2, but this was the first one I picked up and it is FUN.
Honestly, I'm still pretty astounded that this is a battery powered all-in-one controller. No laptop needed..no music needed!
I do a complete review on the controller, looking at the hardware, touchscreen and all the options available, including wifi and streaming.

my biggest thing that I frown upon is not being able to manually adjust the in and out point of a loop.

Just bought one! I also got an Allen & Heath Zed 6 mini mixer, to add extra eq and phantom power for those gigs that need it. I hope Denon will add mic eq in the software in future! Great review Aaron! 😊

My first purchase was the prime go... love it !!!!take to work and the laundromat with headphones mixing two tracks and jamming with people looking at me standing behind me trying to figure out what it is ... and than i purchase a 4 channel denon mixer and 2 sc5000m..playing 4 tracks and mixing is alot harder 🙄 lol....

I missed the two sweep FX the first time watching this video. Now hands on I really love that feature. The pitch sliders are small (but that’s the name of the game) but other than that my only complaint is is the power brick. An IEC or other line cable is worlds more sturdy than a power adapter input. It will wear out, it’s just when and hopefully it’s not directly connected to a circuit board so you can repair it.
Other tip: the magma soft case is $90. It’s also pretty much the same case they and others sell for the DDJ-400. Take out the bottom egg crate foam (magma doesn’t have it either) and the $32 case works just fine and has a little cable storage on the side.

Love the review and got mine last Thursday! 5 days in and I’m blown away by how something so small can do so much with so much ease...been waiting for years for something like this, having been a vynil DJ back in the day, I lost the passion when laptops and software came in. But this little baby feels like the old days and the streaming services just make this a no brainer!!! I see people moaning about the price tag but there’s no way this should be considered as an entry level unit, it’s basically a Prime 2 but a lot smaller in size.
Totally. Plus, it is fun to DJ on right? Price points will always get bitched about, but come on, this thing has a built in computer! Glad you're diggin it
@@AaronStrawn oh the fun factor is unreal, don’t need to be confined to a dedicated space in the house or outdoors, just pick it up and take it to the kitchen or the garden. Hell, I may even do a world first and do a set sitting on my throne, will sure beat reading the paper 🤣

@@AaronStrawn will do lol! Found a slight problem on the right deck pitch slider...it doesn’t sit at 0.00 when in the middle and is at -0.05. Left deck fine. So getting a replacement. I could have lived with it but little things like this niggle me. Also the slider is a lot looser on the left side too and doesn’t have the same sort of friction as the right. Let’s hope the new one is free of any problem!
Love mine too. I hope they get a day mode so can see when im doing gigs outdoors, that sun can glare that screen hard!! Wish they made the screen adjustable. only work around is a laptop holder.

@@synthmania7275 Interesting. I had heard some DJs talk about issues with 1.6 which is why I have waited. I’ve noticed for sure the DB rise when using effects on my Prime 2, but having that effects knob not work is not good. There is a newer version out, I believe 1.6.1, hopefully that addresses it.

Great Video. Ive decided to take the plunge and Buy a Prime Go. I love Denon Quality as I have had my MCX8000 for over 5 years and still rocking as my main controller. The only thing that has stopped me from buying way earlier was the lack of serato but I guess you get used to only using engine and not using a laptop. I could see this as a great small party and cocktail/ceremony setup. I also want to invest eventually in Prime 2 or Prime 4 as my main controller. Do you think I should just buy the Prime 2 instead of the Go?
I’d say if you can see either of them in action, go play with one. I bought the Prime 2 a couple months after having the Go and use that now as my main controller. I probably would’ve bought it first now that I have both. The Go is now my ceremony or smaller party go to

would be nice if it would sound as good or better than mc3000.. a 10 years old denon dj controller.. but it's not at all.. it's actually harsh... headphone out is very important too.. also prime 4 had problem with quality of keylock/sync and recording set was bad...
Hi Aaron :) thanks for the video! I have the prime go now and one Bose S1speaker .. I'm wondering what is best way to link the Go to the speaker- 2 Xlr cable or 2 Rce cables or one cable would be enough for only one speaker?

Thanks Alara! 1 xlr cable from the Go to the Bose S1 should do it. Make sure to switch it to Mono on the back. And turn the tonematch to off on the S1. You could also use the Sennheiser XSWD and go wireless!
For engine DJ there is one feature that the Denon prime 4 plus has. It's where they have those sound effects with their squares on the screen and you could move your finger across the screen and make lines and it makes different kinds of effects. Is that feature available for the prime go?
I also own one and you can DJ anywhere!
Wondering if i grab the go on amazon for £899 or try and find a used prime 2. Its just for home use but i do like the size of the go. Jog wheels judge nudge but maybe spinback.
If it’s for home, I’d start with the Go and than if you want to start performing pick up the 2. The battery powered feature makes it a fun at home controller for sure
@@AaronStrawn well i dont wanna performan in a club anymore haha more for fun i used to own the full on 2000nxs/900nxs mixer but due to covid had to sell it so just want something fun to mix on. Cba doing club life again rather be a spectator than a performer again hahha. But thank you. Can see if i can get one for a good price.
If you're old school like me and had the HD2500 and the MC6000 then these jog wheels are no problem

I use a 64gb SD card for the Go and a 256gb SD for the Prime 2
Hi great video ! Does it have an auto play or auto dj function ?
If you swipe down on the screen you can tap “Continuous”. That will auto play whatever is in deck one. It doesn’t mix
Question-I just purchased a 2nd denon go for a backup only. I do weddings and just do your basic mixing with nothing fancy. I have never updated anything on my first denon go and it works fine. Can I just use the 2nd denon go out of the box as it comes? Do I have to do any type of updating with firmware?
You don't have to update it. I know lots that have stayed in the early versions. It's just if you want the new features. I will say, nothing groundbreaking has come out, but there are def a few that are nice to have

Yep. You can create a playlist right from the player, then put it into continuous mode. Swipe down on the screen to access that

I just purchased the denon go and I was hoping you could help me. I am having trouble activating the sweep FX buttons. I tap A and B and no difference? What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help.
After you tap A, are you moving the filter knob?
@@AaronStrawn Thanks I got it figured out. One more question. I am having a problem with the sync. Which deck do you push the sync button on first? The sync will not stay on beat?
@@mb1958jay49 yeah it’s not like pioneer. Funny, the shitty sync is why I started using the tempo faders. It works like master/slave. Have to hit it on both sides. Hit the deck you want to be the master and the other deck will be the slave

Nope
I am also a wedding dj and using cd's now for 20 years. I am thinking about getting the prime go to make my life easier but wanted to ask you-DO you have to download the software? Can I just put music on the USB from my music files? Will it still show the artist, title of song and BPM?
The software (Engine) is what you need to organize your crates. It's free and makes it easier then loading tracks on a stick.

Iv bought this in December and for the last 3 weeks it just won’t connect to tidal iv been on to tidal they said to ring denon which I’m going to do right now but do you have any suggestions
I’ve heard other people mention that Tidal is down too. I’m not sure whose end is to blame. I think my advice would be don’t fully depend on streaming to DJ. Own as much music as you can because this could happen to any service.
@@AaronStrawn just got off the phone with denon and it’s to do with tidal updating security on there side which has effected denon. Iv only just started dj ing again in lockdown and because I a child of vinyl and 1210’s it was all a bit much the guy in the shop was like these are the easiest thing to use if your just jumping back in in. No laptop just stream straight to deck. Anyway apparently should be fixed in 2 weeks it’s already been 3 weeks 😂😂

How come you talk about getting the Go over the Prime 4 and you have a Prime 4 behind you?
That would be ridiculous right haha. That’s actually the Prime 2 behind me. I still don’t have a 4.

No, they have their own platform called Engine
Does it work as a controller also there's no info on what the USB b input does
As of now, it can't be used with a laptop as a controller. Prime 2 and Prime 4 can. The USB B input is to connect it to a laptop for updates. But that can all be done directly on the unit now

Spotify has pulled their platform from all DJ software. I would say Tidal is the closest comparison

well guys... first i thought i get the prime4 but i didnt like it so much its so big and bulky and basically i never need 4 channels so i got the primeGO. - Prime4 all the time in the background.... 😀

The Prime Go doesn’t have a hard drive slot. It takes usb or SD cards
