Today, we're putting the spotlight on one of the most convenient pieces of hardware in the DJ space. In this review of the Denon DJ PRIME Go, I tell you about this two-channel all-in-one standalone DJ system... and why you might want to consider it.
There are different things DJs value when it comes to DJ controllers, but a universally praised trait is… convenience. And the Prime Go is the ultimate in convenience. It’s a no-frills, standalone, 2-channel DJ system that runs Engine OS. It has all the basics you need for mixing: hot cues, FX, EQs and filters… even wi-fi streaming… in an easy-to-carry package.
But the real standout feature of the Prime GO is its four-hour battery… allowing you to pop on some headphones and bring it with you in a train, plane, or automobile. Or, on a family vacation, like I did a few months back… where I used this Prime Go to teach my stepdaughter the basics of DJing.
Today, I’m gonna share my experience with the Prime Go, talk about all its features, and help you figure out if it’s the right DJ system for you.

Denon puts removable plastic where you used that Microfiber Cloth. I know this because I kept my plastic on my Prime 4. Just peel it off if you want the actual finish, Lol...
bought the Prime Go some time ago, the best choice I could make. It has everything you need, sound quality is amazing, all types of connections, and portable af. Even my friends are thinking about buying one instead of a bigger machine. It's just superb.
Does it have a built in speaker to plug-in to

Does it still show the master on the channel meters or is there an option to show each individual channel volumes yet ?
@@christolongers I don't really get your question but the two meters show each channel's individual volumes. So you can kinda adjust with the gains on the EQ.

Denon always has great products. I’ve been rocking my AVR-X1100w 7.2 surround sound receiver for 6+ years now, never a single issue and puts out super clean power.
I love my Prime Go. Sometimes exporting playlists to Rekordbox can be a pain but it's possible. Lots of fun to use.
How do you export to Rekordbox? Do you do it on device?

I like my unit but now I have to leave my crossfader centered because it bleeds on both sides, luckily i never got into scratching so I don't depend on it for that reason
I’m buying this or sc live 4 and I’m worried about the problem you have. How long until you had music bleed?
Strong units...mine fell a few weeks ago about 4ft and after the heart in mouth moment it was bang on

Thanks for your video. Interesting device, thinking of ditching traktor due to the lack of new hardware. It seems like the ideal compromise between the 2 genre: Pioneer & Traktor.

I am a wedding dj that uses cd's. Would this be a good system as a back up or main system? Can I use this with USB"S without downloading the soft wear?
Is perfect for back-up as well as the Numark Mixstream Pro

That sounds like a great combo!
It's perfect for the MPC live 2. They have a very similar build and size. I wonder if they were manufactured at the same place. You can even use the same charger.

Great job. I put a usb drive in the back but how do you search for music? I tried but it doesn’t show up. Also, how do you load a bunch of songs from one list at the same time?
Thanks for your help! I have solved the FX problem with your help. How do I adjust my pitch? The right side is really sensitive to every little movement. Is there an adjustment in the screen?

great review! i have the prime go for a while now. where did you buy the black thing you put your prime go on? it can be seen in minute 18 something for instance. the thing you can adjust the prime go to be standing on a specific angle? looks great, would like to get this too! thx rafael

I’m buying this or sc live 4 and can’t decide what’s best.
There’s only $300 difference, so if you are cross-shopping these two, I would recommend the SC Live 4. It is way, way more capable than the PRIME Go. The big selling point of the Go is the battery - but since that doesn’t seem to be critical for you, you’ll be much happier with the SC Live 4’s capabilities. Can someone please let me know, without a USB/SD does this require Wi-Fi to play the songs live at a party?
There is plastic film over the left and right areas beside the display.
Indeed, we did have the film on for part of the shooting process. Especially since we knew we’d be traveling with it.
On my prime go, the mic talk over stopped working. Any ideas of what to do? When I press the mic button the music volume stays the same. Help please!

Can u use the aux in with an external effects box/pedal like a mixer to effect both channels ? Have u tried it ? The cloth cleaning bit is a disappointment tho.
Sounds like you’re describing a send/return channel (in which case, no)
Can you download / buy Music direct from the device or do you need to use a USB that has had Music put on from the laptop? Thinking of DJing in a place where there is no internet!
It highlights standalone, just wondering whether a laptop is needed at set-up stage, updates and getting your music…
You can either provide your own downloaded music (e.g. with USB drive), or you can use Dropbox or streaming service which supports an "offline locker" (allowing you to download some music to the local device).
In any case, a computer would be helpful off-stage for building and managing your libraries or playlists.
How do I adjust my pitch other than the pitch control? Is there an adjustment in the screen? Its very sensitive.
You can go into settings and reduce the range. That will make it less responsive.
Do you know of a good light weight soft case to get for this?
Go for the Magma XL 41101 medium briefcase style transport case with removable top.
I just purchased the denon go and I was hoping you could help me. I am having trouble activating the sweep FX buttons. I tap A and B and no difference? What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help.
Go into the shortcuts menu on the screen, and make sure the big "FX" button is enabled. This got me recently!

I came across a forum post that says you might not hear the sweep FX through the headphones:
