I had VSG in 2016. Lost 160 pounds. Had my son a few years later and gained 60. Im now only 20 lbs away from my lowest weight again. Weight loss surgery was the best decision of my life.
Is it still helpfull with cravings and the feeling of Hunger after gaining weight back? Or do you feel like you are like back before surgery mental wise concerning food? This info would be very helpful

I had VSG in 2011 and it was also the best decision of my life, even though I have had periods of regain, I have been able to lose it. VSG gave me a barrier to prevent complete regain and stop me from getting bigger and bigger.

I guess it's been a couple of years ago now, when you were doing your mile for time walks, I was inspired to start walking every day... so I often think of you when I do my 20 min morning walks. I find that just those short but regular walks set me up for a good day, and my body feels more like moving for the rest of the day. So thanks heaps! 💓💓💓💓💓
Does it bother anyone else that she's disappeared again?
Yes. I understand life is busy. No judgment. I just thought the pre-recorded content would make it easier.
NO.
Bypass doesn't work for everyone - it's not always the solution people are looking for. I just *really* want it to work for her, as I suspect April would find it devastating if she went through all of the discomfort one goes through with bypass, as didn't get the results she had hoped for. Looking at past experience, when April disappears, it's normally because something has gone wrong. I just hope *this* is not *that*. It really bothers me that she's gone quiet.... Hopefully she'll pop back up shortly and all will be well. Hoping this silence is a big nothing.

She can see your comments. If you actually care about her well being don't talk about her like she isn't able to see, ask after her well being. She doesn't owe you anything, she is human and weightloss and life is hard and she is incredibly vulnerable with sharing this. You think she doesn't already feel bad that she struggles being consistent? Treat her like a human, this content is free to you and she probably makes very close to nothing on it herself.

Oh my goodness I used to watch your videos, and then sort of lost you, I guess. I just had VSG one year ago on the 29th. I’ve been overweight/obese/morbidly obese since I was a preteen. My high weight was 330lbs when I was pregnant and I now weigh 160lbs. 😭😭🫶🏼 Anyways, so cool that you decided to have WLS as well. Looking forward to watching your journey again.

My surgery was scheduled on July 3. I’m 3/4 weeks post op. I’m currently stalled at 268.
It's very early, you won't stay stalled. Just keep going and follow your doctor's advice.

April does not owe any of us anything; she is free to post as and when she wants. Having said that, given her past history, I am concerned that her current silence signals that her weight loss has stalled. She should feel OK about this, it happens, but I worry that April becomes consumed with shame. As someone who has struggled with her weight all her life, I know the pain and shame of announcing ‘this is it!’ and then ‘failing’. I think April is a very vulnerable young woman, prone to depression and self-loathing. As a psychiatrist, I wish she would leave UA-cam and do this privately while also getting really good therapy. I wish her the very best.🩷

Every time I see a new post from you, I'm happy. I really missed you, and I'm thinking of you on your journey. My husband and I just finished a bike ride across the state of Iowa called RAGBRAI. Years back, when I was 248 pounds (I'm 5'1"), I probably would have laughed at someone telling the future me now, at age 61, that I'd experience this adventure. But - having had gastric bypass in 2009, my life changed for the positive, and here I am today. Enjoy every moment of your journey, and I'm so glad that you are doing things your way and moving forward. You are an amazing human, April, and you definitely succeed at making the world brighter. There's rules against taking the chickens? I would be in so much trouble. I'd have been trying to take a mama hen and babies home with me! 😂 They looked hungry and hopeful.
Haha, right?! From what I understand, you aren't supposed to take them... but... if you have a chicken coop and they wander in and make home, that's okay. Then they are yours. But, all I know really is hearsay, haha. 💗💗💗

My closest library was right next to my school, so when I was old enough to walk to school alone (10 minutes away from my house) I'd go in there most days before I went home, and also other times when I wasn't at school. It was my 2nd home.
I had my consultation and have scheduled most of my appointments for my nutritionist, labs, X-ray, EKG, endoscopy, etc that I need. My insurance require three months on a nutritionist supervised diet plan so I’m hoping by the new year I will have surgery scheduled! I decided on a traditional bypass and not the sleeve due to reflux. I know three months will fly by but it seems so far away!

I also love zinnias and just transplanted 31 from my pots to the garden.

I just had the gastric sleeve a week and a half ago. Still lots of pain, but otherwise it's going well.
Hi April. I read a lot. I mean, I can become obsessive. I use it both for enjoyment and distraction. It can stop me from doing things. Anyway, I recently found an app that's fun and focussed on self care. I dont normally go for apps, but this one is great. You can use it in the free or paid version. I use the free version. You pick your goals, and you set the pace for self care. It is really good for mental health and loving yourself. It's a cute little finch that grows with you. It's called Finch self care. I would recommend it. 😊 You look and sound good. I love your garden ideas. Have you considered raised planters?😊
Hey April, I've lost and gained and gone through the cycle again and again. And was wondering about how you manage your wardrobe as you've moved so much while going through it all. I also have tried the keto lifestyle because it was suppose to be better for diabetics, it worked for the first 2 months, then my sugars went insane and started up nearly to 900. My dr said for whatever reason keto made my blood sugar worse instead of better. I had to go off of it immediately because I ended up hospitalized from my sugars being so high. And yes, I did the clean keto, not the dirty keto with all the bad sweetners.
My sister has chickens! They are the best eggs. They are huge, the chicken run is getting expanded. You will love the chickens 🎉💖

So, is it that time again when you decide to disappear with no explanation and then you’ll pop back up when it suits you? Some of you UA-camrs have a ton of nerve to expect people to stay invested and subscribed and sit around while you come and go as you please. I’ve my surgery scheduled for the 9th! Also for the duodenal switch. 😊 Your videos are so great to see! Getting your perspective week by week is great! I start my pre op diet Friday. Anything you’d recommend to help with cravings?

Oh goodness, I am so excited for you! I will be praying your surgery goes smoothly as does recovery and all of the prep. The pre-op liquid diet was hard with the cravings. Lots of water! And just know the cravings are coming, and it is okay to not give into them. Remind yourself you want to do everything you can for a smooth operation and that is the why behind the liver shrinking diet.. .to protect your organ and help prevent complications. Then after there will be a lot of pain, but maybe take comfort in this.... I know there was pain... but I am only 3 months out and I cannot remember the pain at this point. It was so temporary. Oh take pictures!!! Take so many pictures so you can see your progress as the months tick by!!!
There is also a duodenal surgery support group on Facebook I found helpful. And, probably most importantly take all the guidance your bariatric team gives you very seriously.... follow their guidance regarding your surgery... There is such a huge variance surgeon to surgeon.

Side note, I would pull the weeds rather than poison them… you mentioned that you plan on planting seeds so it’s just a thought. Herbicide is awful for pollinators and other beneficial insects, as well as birds.

I love your videos and I second those that have mentioned how much you have changed. You should get some chickens, they are wonderful for the soul...and the eggs. I didn't realize how late you can plant in Hawaii. My knowledge of gardening there is slim to none. My garden here in Missouri is exploding! Everything is doing so much better than when I was in Cheyenne WY.

I had wls in 2003. I didn't have good follow up and my doctor left town under suspicious circumstances. But that was a long time ago. I am now seeking a really good bariatric doctor, because my last one spoiled me but now she's retired. I didn't always have a smooth ride, but I learned a LOT! And the only reason my weight is out of control now is the steroids they gave me for months due to covid and asthma. Now I just have to concentrate on getting the 30 pounds off that I gained during that time. Wls can be a great thing, but it is only a tool, just like all the rest of the things I need to employ. I am grateful because I'm healthier than I was. Thank you for your inspiration!

My scale is broken lol so no idea how my weigh ins are doing. But I do need to get up and do my measurements as today is the day I do those. I love your ramblings and I had no idea that libraries had online stuff! My 6 year old and I love our library a lot so we just go in and get stuff and do programs they have for him mostly
