This performance makes me cry every time I see it, not because of it being so good (which it was) but because she's 47 and never been given the chance to showcase her talent. Her God given talent shouldn't have been hidden away for 47 years and not shared with the world. People are so damn judgmental regarding looks, age or other superficial reasons which prevented her from sharing her gift, which makes me incredibly sad. I'm so glad she was given a chance to perform and did so well. She deserves everything great for the rest of her life.

Susan's mother always believed in her daughter, but as it turns out, apparently Susan suffers from a disorder on the spectrum which sometimes effects her communication with other people. There is no doubting her pure talent and she went on after this audition to conquer the world, she had millions of sales of her album and was managed by Simon Cowell on the judging panel here

Perhaps the best lesson to be derived here is that so many of us, there at the time, and millions more afterwards, were prejudicially cynical because Mrs. Boyle did not appear the most attractive. She proved us all wrong! She has a gift from God and, yet, we doubted her. It was wonderful to see her amazing talent evident with the very first note and how it continued to rise to incredible heights. It is good that we have been blessed by this valuable lesson and reminder that God's works are mysterious and we must not be so cynical or prejudicial and give thanks for such miracles.

The night we watched this I was in tears. That next Christmas my son got me her first released CD. It's still in cellophane, unopened because it's not my type of music to run on a whole albums worth. Lol. She took care of her mother and stayed almost a hermit in doing so. She'd given up her dream of the big time and devoted to caregiver instead. Before you know it, life is past 40. She still believed in herself and others believed enough that now she's known worldwide in her genre of music but honestly the woman has proven she can sing almost anything.
