* begins looking online for 135i *
Iama buy me one and they look good to
I got one back in 2017, it's a fun little car and tons of mods you can do. So far I just have a black front grille with the M colours and I'm getting a custom quad exhaust done in a week.
Had mine for 14 months now... if you've got the means to play, it's an awesome investment. Makes me smile on a daily basis.
they're fun I have mine in stage 2+ I think its scary haha
Yes😉
The n54 is the new 2jz
givemeajackson Ive been saying that for a while now...
Except it can hold more power on the stock block than the 2j
Shhhh you will upset the JDM fan boys with comments like that
Been saying.. Ive got a 08 535xi n a 08 135is... They goi g to blow up in price
i love 335i and i had one but come on...the new 2jz? lol just cause it cracked 700 on a dyno?
That forged crank and rods in an N54 leaves me speechless!!!
Cutting Edge Cool yep!! These cars are SO solid. And think of how many people sold them in the beginning as lemons. Smh
Cutting Edge Cool only the crank is forged
@@dinero8331 Rods and crank are forged. Pistons are cast.
Your build is one of best builds that is on social media for n54. Good balance between reliability and power. And not just dyno glory runs
Thanks man, I appreciate that. I'm very happy with the car!
just a question. Any reason you went with port injection over double barrel?
Double barrel shotgun pumps weren't fully finished and tested when I went with port injection over a year ago. I'm still happy with my choice though.
ahh gotcha!
Hell ya buddy, congrats!
N54 FTW 😎
Power band looks perfect 👌🏻
Thanks Lee! You need to do this to your car 😂
Jake Spence Yeah really! Maybe BimmerStreet will sponsor it...hehehe 😀🤣
I thought it's an n55 in the m135i and that the n54 is in the old 335i's from a previous generation
@@Killswitch1991 nope still the n54
Thats it im getting a 135i in the future.
All aboard the 1-series train!
I've been hovering over the "add to cart" button on the Doc Race site for like 3 months now. I should probably just go ahead and buy it, right?
If you've been watching my videos are STILL haven't ordered a Doc Race kit... WHAT'RE YOU DOING?!
Jake Spence I'm saving for a 2nd n54 car :D. Dont wanna ST my FBO 335xi daily. Got 10k in the bank, so I'd say 1/3 of my money goal for the total build. Will be buying the car as soon as i find a deal.
awesome power dude! Loved the runs. I loved more how it picked up speed from 80 to 140. congrats again!
Yeah, that's when the boost really hits in 4th gear. If I was in the powerband the whole time, it really climbs!
Amazing, the sounds way better than M4 tho...
I love the way it sounds, stay tuned for a full exhaust video.
agree, what where changed on it in this vid on the exhaust already??? i still doub, looking for a 135i also
5:35 this thing just starts bursting like crazy!!! I hope the car won’t get burnt lol
Thanks for the tshirts i bought off you. I purchased the i like to party caution symbol. and single turbo n54 engine t-shirt. They fit me well. Great dyno power 750hp.
Awesome! Thanks for supporting me and the channel... I'm glad you like your merch!
Congrats man! Your car is wicked!
Thanks Ryan!
Congrats Jake ! 750hp !! JOB DONE. Maybe need some new brake to stop this rocket ^^
Hell yeah! I'm getting new brakes after the 1/2 mile event. They will be toast after that...
nice. if you didn't build your motor yet dont go for 800whp. blew mine up last year now I got the mmp engineering 1400 motor. still working on tunes but gonna be pushing some serious power.
mre19862 how much that engine cost? Looking fot a built engine
Awesome results. These cars are rock solid.
Thanks Terry!
I need a 135i lol
Come to the dark side... lol.
Just got one for myself. Stock but wow.. not disappointed. Honestly even at 300HP there seems to be unlimited power.
@@peakhour Hey, do these come turboed?
@@96Caleb96 the 135i is a twin turbo V6
peakhour inline 6*
Sick car bro, have my 335i for 7 years now so shoutout to the OG n54 owners lol.
Damn, I just got over the 5 year mark with this car lol.
Jesus, 750 whp is like 860 bhp with a manual transmission loss of 15%. Absolutely mental.
When you have a variable boost turbo kit do you get better mpg at lower boost? So can you effectively have an economy mode and a power mode? Would be handy.
I think I do get better gas mileage from this new single turbo setup actually... except when my foot is always to the floor lol.
Closer to 885 at the crank. start at 885 and subtract 15% from that ;)
Good stuff man! Single turbo ftw, loving mine!
Thanks! Gotta love it, so glad I went this route.
Man I need to put my M140i on the Dyno can’t wait !!!
Do it!
Damn, great numbers man 👍🏻 I’ve ran one of these and it was close and I’ve beat some serious cars only making 440/400
Nice! This car was fast when it was 450/500 on stock turbos. Now it's really woken up... lol.
Jake Spence I bet. The one I ran surprised me, def modded by the sound of it, not sure what was done. Quick cars for sure!!!
That's a scary car man. Great job👍🏾
Just what I was aiming for! Thank you.
Watch the gas tank at 7:51!! 😂😂
That's what I'm talkin about hell yeah!!
Building the motor on my n54 135i, this summer. Been fbo for 3 years now on stock turbos.
Nice! I will build one someday...
Awesomeness at its best bud😁🤙 Doc really has the best set up!
Agreed - I love it!
Thanks ! Following your thread, awesome car and awesome power !
Love the vids man thinkin about getting a 135i
Do it!
10:24 - You have extra diagram lines on the whole phone screen :D
Gave me piece of mind to make that power at that many miles. Impressive!
Same. It's not the original motor, but it had 90k miles when I swapped it in. It's taking it like a champ!
Now this n54 is Insanely fast with the proof to back it up as well ..
Beastmode. Congrats man!!!
Thanks Matt!
Almost 900 crank ! Crazy fast !! 😍
I know! It pulls so hard!
Nice! Time to enjoy it and hit the track.
I just got back from Road America... stay tuned for some GoPro footage of that!
Congrats once again on such an awesome build Jake!
Thank you sir!
For sure! I have similar goals in mind but it's going to take me a bit longer than you to get there. In the past couple of weeks we replaced the turbos (had almost 170K on them and were not holding boost anymore) with gently used stock ones for the time being, bigger ones coming later this year. Also did a full brake refresh with new pads, rotors, SS lines and Motul fluid and upgraded to 2" inlets for the bigger turbos coming soon. Usually spend one day a week working on her.
New video on the installation of Burger Motorsports Catch Can, Mishimoto Catch Can and RB Turbo PCV Valve Externalization should be out later today!
first time watching your channel but this thing is a fucking monster. 700 hp 600 tq in such a small car must be crazy to drive
It's a blast to drive... glad you found the channel!
That's nuts. My M240i makes around 375-380 wheel and it's respectably quick on the street. Couldn't imagine doubling that number!
It's crazy, but tons of fun!
This is by far the best sounding single I've heard. What all have you done for exhaust?
Custom single pipe 3" exhaust with a Vibrant resonator.
damn dude, pretty impressive car! 135s can make some power!
Thank you! They're awesome cars.
I’m addicted to boost because of you
Awesome bro
Thanks!
I need n54 in my life I love this channel
Thanks man! Get one...
Great build!
Thanks man!
Are you still running a stock hpfp?
Yes I am.
Wow. Okay, well then that negates why my line pressure gives out on me so quickly. I guess port injection is needed earlier than I expected.
That's insane power Jake!😍
Agreed - it's a scary ride on the street. I love it lol.
Favorite 135 build.
Thanks man! I'm just happy to share my experience.
wow dude! killing it!
Thanks Antonio!
so glad you did a pull at a low boost and a wastegate pressure. give me some idea of what i can shoot for while building up PSI. Your the man bro.
I figured other people would like that! Glad you find it helpful. I wanted to know what kind of power it was at if I needed to turn down the boost for auto-x, etc.
Is this at sapphire matallic black ???
What colour are the alloys ???
What are the sizes and colour of alloys please ???
Yes, it is Black Sapphire Metallic. The wheels are Anthracite and you can buy them here: bit.ly/2LJxkrx
Cant wait to get my 535i
Hell yeah!
Jake, what did you do about your oil catch-can. Could you also do a review on that for us guys going ST please?
I do get a lot of questions about this. I haven't made a video about it because I'm not that knowledgeable on PCV/breather systems. Right now I just have an RB PCV valve with a BMS catch can. The catch can outlet is ideally supposed to run back into the intake track, but that's tough with the single turbo. Some guys tap into the filter itself. I chose to route it down the transmission tunnel under the car and vent it to atmosphere.
NICE CAR!, I have a black 2012 135i and I'm looking 4 an exhaust system n other parts, do u have anything 4 sale?, or what exhaust brand do u recommend?
I don't have anything for sale, but I'd recommend this for a cat-back exhaust: bit.ly/2EQsLdK
Or if you want an axle-back, this is what I'd recommend: bit.ly/2QO3cP6
Great vid Jake. Any issues getting the ready status for inspection with the single turbo setup? I'm pondering it for my 335i.
I don't have to deal with emissions in my state, so luckily there aren't any inspections.
@@jake_spence You're lucky brotha:)
Yo Nuff respect for this bro, holy shit that 135 making mad power haha
Haha, thanks man. It's a crazy little beast!
How do the 135i's handle? If its good, sort of like a cheap Porsche killer?
Can't comment on the handling compared to a Porsche. But it handles good in comparison to most BMWs. With the suspension adjustments I've made, it's a great handling car.
I'm so mad that they didn't make an e87 135i hatchback. How practical is the coupé? Can you fit 4 people in it reasonably well?
Yeah, you can definitely fit two people in the back. It's not that bad.
Nah dude... maybe midgets or children. Not comfy for a full size adult
when the boost kicks in 11:27 it takes a big gulp of fuel
Lol, my fuel gauge hijacks to an AFR gauge at WOT.
The BMW 135i N54 (2007-2010) has Biturbo @ 1300rpm-5000rpm and the BMW 135i N55 (2010-2013) has a single (bigger) twin scroll turbo @ 1200rpm-5000rpm). The N55 is 4kg lighter because of the twin scroll turbo and the cost is lower, which makes the N55 0.2 seconds faster than the N54.
I will buy a N55 in 2 months, give or take.
That's some very specific data. While that's good reasoning, I hope that's not the only reason you're buying an N55. There are many factors that go into the N54 vs. N55 decision. Either way, welcome to the N5X club!
@@jake_spence thanks for the reply. I honestly have no idea of turbos. I just recently found out, that the 135i (2010-2013) has a single twin scroll turbo, so i was confused which model i should go for.
I searched the internet about differences, but could only find the difference between the 2 turbos of N54 and N55. I would really appreciate if you could give me some infos about N54 and N55... i would really like to know more..
Maybe you can provide me with some links?
Cheers
Congrats man !! Has anybody told you you look like spencer berke ? 😂
Nope lol haven't heard that one before.
Jake Spence you look a lot like him 😂
Yo wtf this 135i is wicked. Can't believe this engine holds on to so much boost. Is it safe for it at all?
Yeah, there are lots of guys running this power on stock motor. It isn't guaranteed and won't last forever, but with proper maintenance, it should be able to handle it. However, sometimes motors blow up even on stock turbos at 400whp, but that's not common.
@@jake_spence Thank you very much for the response. I have been locking at bmw 1 series and now that i saw what you did with it and how well the motor holds on... It motivates me to get one.
Congrats bro. Two questions:
Is the motor stock
Is the single turbo kit compatible with the 535i wagon
Kaine Peter it is compatible with the 535i & its a stock motor
How did you run wastegate pressure with the jb4? Zeroed out map 6 boost targets or map4 8 psi is lower than your wg pressure?
On the single turbo firmware, map 1 is the wastegate pressure only map.
Jake Spence thank you, one more thing I know now :)
Time for an N54 swap in the E91
Just found your channel I love it great vids
Thanks Kyle!
Is bought one Running a similar set up will a stock trans hold ?
Holy crap bro..damn congrats. Bad ass. What fuel you using?
Thanks! I'm on straight E85.
Is it better to get one manual or DCT ??
Depends what you want. DCT will shift faster, but you will have to upgrade the clutches in it to handle more power just like manual.
perfect job, perfect car
is your car engine stock internals?
and which company make your ECU software. thanx , congrats
Thanks! Yes, the car engine has stock internals. I am running a BMS JB4 ECU piggyback.
Was this on 93 pump or e85
E85.
Thanks for the reply! What does the car make on 93 @@jake_spence
I'm not sure, I never run just 93 because I have E85 everywhere where I live.
ahh must be nice@@jake_spence
Congrats man. I'm about to go single turbo as well. Could you go over your JB4 user settings please?
Honestly, just start with these settings and go from there. Once you are in your desired boost map, you'll have to dial in the FF or let it auto-learn over time.

Jake Spence thanks bro
Hey bro, one thing I need to know. What do you single turbo guys do about the pcv and oil catch can setup? I'm thinking of going ST but don't know what to do with the BMS catch can setup??
I want to know what kind of clutch you’ve got that can hold power?
SPEC Stage 3+ Clutch: bit.ly/2JsSehU
Did the dyno display power to the wheels or to the crank?
Power to the wheels.
what was the fueling like on this video ? full e85?
Yes, full E85.
That is a machine of death bro
I should probably get a cage next...
Awesome #s Jake. I’ve been tempted on getting a 135i or 335i
Thanks man, they're really fun cars if you take care of them!
Jake Spence that’s what I have heard man! Coming from an AWD Platform I wanna try RWD now lol
Crazy insane! Great work dude. How much do you think all the mods have cost you? Mostly diy, or you have a helpful mechanic?
Check out this video, I answer all those questions: ua-cam.com/video/yB1-t2zCFqU/v-deo.html
Ermagherd it's Jake Spence 🤭
wich injectors do you run?
Index 12s with 72lb port injectors.
Super dope !!! Dig your car!!
Thanks man!
Is that on a stock motor as well???
Sure is!
Jake Spence absolutely insane! What did the full build cost if you don’t mind me asking? Thanks!
Check out my channel, I have a video that answers that exact question :)
What app do u use ?
have u tried 91 oct or 93 oct only ?
No I have not.
No hpfp issues?
Nope, I have port injectors to help the HPFP.
I thought this car had the b58. Do the new one series have the b58.?
Some of the new 3 series do. This is a 2008, so N54 here.
Hey brother i just want to know how can you run quarter mile so this thing would hook just the radials and maybe stiffer suspension? Am getting a 335 n54 and just wondering how cani make the car hook good. I knoe they are the highway race cars
For dig racing, ideally you'd want an auto transmission. That with an LSD, upgraded axles, suspension and a set of bias-ply tires. A good 2-step and let 'er eat!
Big pop coming in 3,2,1......
Hey Jake, How OR What did you use to set up a Website that your able to Sell from?? Or how did you set your Site up to Receive Money from customers and there Debit/Credit Cards??? Please help a brother out. Anyways.... Awesome build man!!! I’m always watching your videos... Great Work Dude
It is built with Shopify. Payments are all handled with Shopify/PayPal.
Jake, hows the turbo lag? Is it a lot worse than when you had your MMPs?
I’m trying to decide what set up I’m going to go with.
Thanks
It's noticeably laggier, but nothing I can't live with. Just downshift or keep the revs up and you won't even notice. Pulls so much harder up top!
Awesome!! 😎👍

Don't know much about bmw s but what's better a 135i or 335i ?& are beamers reliable?
They're the same engine/transmission, but different body styles. Depends on if you want a bigger (335i) or smaller (135i) car. They can be reliable if you take care of them, but not as reliable as other cars.
Oh my gosh. I have a 335i. I didnt know i could make that much

You have a very good traktion on the rolls.
How come?
Semi slicks?
Michelin Pilot Super Sports, almost brand new. And properly strapped down to the dyno.
@@jake_spence i dont know you still rember, i told you i have the biturboversion with the 744 hp.

How much Torque NM you have in the 28 PSI Setup?
We reduced the torque in the first two gears because of durability.
