8100 - Breaking the World Record for Most Pull-ups in 24 Hours

  • Опубліковано 30 вер 2024
  • Had one goal from April to October and that was to get the title of most pull-ups in 24 hours.
Dreamed of this moment for months, each and every day.
I would wake up in the middle of the night to go pee and would be counting reps in my mind, "1, 2, 3, 4, 5..." as I would normally train with sets of 10.
This day was far from my best performance and I actually had much better training days prior to this where I was going faster and had zero stomach issues.
You never know how your body will react in a 24 hour span though and despite all of that, I was able to get it done.
While the record has since been broken, nothing will take away the accomplishment that myself, my family and my friends did on that day in October.
Keep in mind that I did all of this training with a full-time job. I don't get paid to do pull-ups and I would have to make time for it every week leading up. The point is, if it means a lot to you then you'll make time for it.
Couldn't have done it without my wife, Alicia, who supported this idea from the start. If you don't have someone who supports your dreams then you're with the wrong person haha. But seriously, it matters a lot.
3 times a week I'd do 2,000 pull-ups to get me in shape for the 8100. From April to October, I increased my max by 4,000 reps. All it takes is all you got. Would do pull-ups two hours prior to work and get 1,000 done and then do the remaining 1,000 after work and get done around 7pm.
Lonely nights are a must if you want to be the best.
My brother, my dad, my wife, my friends... couldn't thank them enough if I tried. Also, Eric McCormack is an absolute legend. Such a good trainer, coach, person. Couldn't have done it without his intensity and encouragement.
Lastly, thank you Luke Dusenbury for making this film and capturing this moment! He's the greatest videographer in the game and his vision for his films is like dang Spielberg.
    Anyway, onto the next!
Thank you to my sponsors as well:
MTN OPS SUPPLEMENTS: Code "TRUETT" for 20% off your order
    mtn-ops.sjv.io...
Their energy products helped me stay awake during these 24 hours and they're products I use every day. Protein shakes, energy supplements, fish oil. They got it all and I recommend them.
TEN THOUSAND: Code "THANES15" for 15% off your order
    bit.ly/3HDCofL
Best gym apparel in my opinion. Rocked their stuff in both attempts and do every time I go to the gym. They're like lululemon, but for men.

Hey Truett, my name is Gavin, I’m 17 years old, and you inspire me. I found your 4100 video in June of 2022, and I’ve lost track of the number of times that I’ve watched it. I could hardly do one pull-up on the minute when I first saw it, but something about what you did resonated with me, and by last spring, I was at the point of being able to do 30 in five minutes and change. Obviously, I’m nowhere near your numbers, but seeing what you’re capable of inspires me to be better. Having been able to watch you since your first video here on UA-cam has been awesome, and I’m really glad that you’ve had so much success.
I don’t think that I’ll ever go for the record, but I do want to do a 10k run, followed by 100 pull-ups, repeated 10 times, for a total of 100k and 1000 pull-ups (which might be an interesting weekly fitness challenge for you to try!). If it wasn’t for you, I would never have tried to improve with my own pull-ups back in 2022, so thank you, Truett, and congrats on the record.

The day that you got your pull up record was the day that I accomplished my goal of running a 6 miles desert road. The first time I attempted to run this road I failed and went out too fast giving up at 4 miles. When I came back I not only ran it faster but ended up running 10 miles farther. It’s amazing to think how peoples lives are so different but yet all aligned at the same time with our own accomplishments. These are the kind of feats that inspire me, hopefully when I grow up I will be running ultra marathons and makin waves. Great video!

When I read these comments I’m surprised that most people can barely do 1 pull up. When I first started I was able to do 5 pull-ups easily. That was when I was twelve. I’m 13 now and I average around 11 pull-ups per rep. Is that a good pace to be getting stronger? Is it normal to be able to do 5 pull-ups easily when you start? I don’t know the answers to that. What I do know is that I wanna break the world record and that’s what I’m gonna do. When I get the world record, remember this comment.

    • @randomusername-ms8yi

A few months later, we learned that he had a significant birth defect with the bones in his right leg that would require a through the knee amputation before he could learn to walk. In July of last year he underwent his amputation surgery and in October, on his first birthday, he received his first prosthetic leg. Fast-forward 3 months and he is on the verge of taking his first unsupported steps and I see this video... I hope my Truett and I can be as awesome as you and your dad are!! I hope he goes for 9k, though! Good lord, I can't even imagine attempting 9k pull ups.

I can't even imagine how good it would feel to get some rest/sleep after that, like the hard part is over now its time for sleep, sure it would start hurting like hell though.
I wonder how the moments before last sleep will feel like.

Amazing, I was on the edge of my seat watching this, I was emotional, I can only imagine what it was for all these people there, but especially for you Truett, well done.

This is one of the most heart wrenching and inspiring videos I've ever seen. Seeing both your struggle, and the the struggle of the people who care about you most, at the beginning: then seeing the end of this video where you can look into the eyes of those who love you the most and see something beautiful.

Great effort! I would highly recommend to adapt your calorie intake strategy. Stay away from solid foods. A good alternative would be switching to liquids and gels only. E.g. look at Christoph Strasser. He broke the 24 hour cycling record recently, where he rode over 1.000 km. He switches to gels and liquids only starting 3 days before a race.

This is the prime human experience right here.
Young guy endeavers for seemingly impossible goal.
A father there to give wisdom.
A wife to assist and be a help their husband achieve.
Failure. More wisdom. Grace in Failure. Get up to try again. Humility.
But never losing sight and having loving people to be there while the young man prepares to enter the arena. Once More

Idk why but i feel like i should attempt this. 6 pullups a minute for 24 hours. Ive done 300 in 15 minutes but i doubt i can keep that pace. Im have no obligations in life. Im about to atempt 2 hours of 7 pullups a minute. See how that goes without the longevity traininging.

Why wouldn’t you overload with a full meat diet a month before and then on the day of eat protein light and then some carbs…. Maybe not packed with sugar . And then rely on pre workout for energy????

It’s not just about getting calories in you also have to pay close attention to your Microbiome in order to properly uptake calories and nutrients effectively. I knew you were going to be in trouble as soon as I saw all the junk food Im glad you got through it though if you ever try this again try and stick to easy to digest Whole foods Mostly carbs for energy some fats for sustained energy and mood and some high-quality easy to digest protein to stay anabolic I’m no scientist but this makes the most sense to me but first try different foods during your training to see what works for you I understand that Too much protein and fat can leave you feeling sluggish but the right amount can make the difference on the long run

Worth mentioning this man started at 4 am and passed a previous record of 8008, 26 hours later at 6 am. Guinness World Record is 8600 in 24 hr. Unfathomably impressive to work to reach pinnacles most of us can’t imagine. Just gotta keep it real
