  • The Hexatrek is an epic 3034km long distance trail that goes through France, including the Alps & Pyrenees.
    There were plenty of challenges on day 75 of this incredible thru-hike. Dry water points, closed shops and overgrown parts of the trail. I was being pushed to my hiking limits!
    You can find the route and more information about the Hexatrek here: en.hexatrek.com

    You are very courageous doing this hexatrek solo. Decisions like you have to make, ALONE, are not always easy and often instinctive. Thank heaven for some kind people.

      It’s definitely a lot harder solo, there’s know one to talk through decisions with. It’s all part of the adventure and challenge of solo hiking. I love it 😊

      That guy was so nice, I said to him I have €9 and the shop was closed so I had no food. And he said “pick any pizza and I’ll make it for you” 😊 what a legend.

    Dry water points on the app are a worry and closed shops, how unlucky. Any ticks Ryan?

    • @RyansNextAdventure
      @RyansNextAdventure  7 місяців тому +1

      Luckily I didn’t see any ticks on this section. A lot of the shops have unique opening times along this section with some being closed on random days in the week or closing early. The times stated on Apple Maps were mostly correct to plan a bit ahead. A lot of the water points were either dry or didn’t exist. I do know they plan to update the app to be more accurate for next year. Also on the discord group people were posting what water points were good or not, so definitely worth keeping an eye on discord whilst hiking. Apparently there was another water point in that village that was usable bit I missed the discord post. I relied on locals to fill up sometimes on stage 1 & 4 and they were always happy to help 😊 on stage 2,3,5 & 6 there’s no shortage of water in the mountains. I believe the app will be more reliable next year though.

    Wow! Beautiful scenery. Always pack extra food. Why??
    Hangry x

      Because I ran out of food I then went overboard in the shop and bought too much 😂 ideally you want to buy enough food just to get you to the next shop so you’re not carrying food unnecessarily. But because I was finding shops closed I was happy to carry a bit extra food 😊

      @@RyansNextAdventure carrying extra food is not unnecessary!!! My 27 year old bearded man child always asks if I got food on me. Coming out of his coma a few years ago.
      Hungry. Wakes up. Hungry. Born 5 weeks early. Hungry. Same for his mates. Hungry. You lot (boys) need to pack an extra days food, so 4 days worth for a 3 day hike. And drink. Obviously! Glad you didn’t go green on your long walk. Oh I’ve got food on me all the time, so if you do see me, you’re safe! X

      @@jessicapayne8622 I hear you, I’m always eating on my hikes. What I mean by unnecessarily is getting to a shop still having 3 days of food in the bag. An extra day of food is fine. I’m always trying to keep my bag as light as possible so try to only buy what I need until I get to the next shop. That’s one of the things I love about hiking, eating tons of food 😊

      @@RyansNextAdventure you’ll always need food!! I was the one who provided my son and his gaggle of friends a picnic on school trips. I went with them, cus, you know. School trips! Plus the school packed lunch was a mouthful. Anyhoo. Keep walking! C

    Thank you very much for making these videos! It helps a lot :) I’m thinking about hiking a part of section 4 in May. We have time for +- 150 km. May I ask what part you enjoyed the most?

    • @RyansNextAdventure
      @RyansNextAdventure  3 місяці тому +1

      Glad you enjoyed 😊 2 highlights of stage 4 for me was the Ardeche gorge which starts about 30km into stage 4. It was beautiful. And the canoe section along the Tarn, which starts about 200 km into stage 4. If you want to rent a canoe for the day and head 21km down the river I would highly recommend doing this alternative path. Overall stage 4 is very nice with some incredible gorges. Just a heads up though if you do the Ardeche gorge, there are 2 river crossings to do, both were knee deep. I just went through in my shoes as the rocks were slippy. Enjoy the trail 👍🏼

      @@RyansNextAdventure This is super helpful information, thanks a bunch! looking forward to the canoe part, that part looks amazing. And thanks for the river crossing warning

      @@lisastrijbosch no problem. Try to get to the canoe section early in the morning. I arrived at about 10:45am and they said it was too late as you have to get 21km down the river before 6pm. But I said I’ll paddle quick and they let me go. It was tough on the arms as I couldn’t hang about. If you get there early then it will be more leisurely and you will have time to stop at the many little beaches along the river.

    I watched your UA-cam. Your every video is really awesome. But your channel and your videos expect more views and subs. And I noticed your channel is also not monetized. If you monetize your channel you can earn from UA-cam.
