He should resign but not for this. He should resign for seeking to please the world rather then obey Gods word.
yes and bowing and scraping to Kings embarrassing himself grovelling at the feet of rich men. He is not a man of God.
God doen't exist. therefore your comment is nonsensical.
Archbishop Welby only everspeaks of social issues, never of Jesus, he utterly fails as a cleric.
Just like in amerika, there's the rural/urban divide. An urban ministry has different priorities. I don't know why nobody talks about it. Not conservative/liberal but rural/urban. 😢
Social issues except the poor, the homeless, the vulnerable. When did we last see him mixing with the homeless, mixing with people on a very poor housing estate. Yet Jesus lived amongst those kind of people. The Cof E has lost its way. It's a church for the middle to upper classes run on capitalist principles, with £8billion stashed away in it's coffers..
'...speaks ...never of Jesus....'
that would explain these would it?

How sad you have your own biased agenda and made him your enemy and without even a cursory check on the veracity of what you believe just state it as some sort of factual statement. There is shorter description of that; Lying.
Self centered atheist
Absolutely!!
He’s a disgrace to the Gospel
Yes he should with a lot of others, we need true Men of God, truly converted and with great INTEGRITY.
Yes he should resign, he has done absolutely nothing to spread the gospel or unite the church - instead he has divided and become a political hack that has harmed not only the church but the monarchy to with his weakness and pacifism. The complete polar opposite to the bold and principled nature of Jesus
Yes, along with the majority of the Bishops.
Welby's push for Vennells to become the Bishop of London does not surprise me at all; remember, he'd only been a Bishop for a year before he was offered Canterbury. Expertise and long service count for nothing in the CofE.
He admired her money loving skills.
Sadly , Justin Welby should be the first of two archbishops and then around 70 bishops.
And quite a few Canons & Deans, oh, and Archdeacons.
There should be no archbishops or popes. One of the ten commandments though shall not have false gods.
@@darren253 Indeed, the order of Hierarchy, from Lowest to Top should be, I feel, Catechumen (Children and the less mentally Able) > common Laity > Lay Reader > Pastor/Reverend > Deacon > Elder/Presbyter/Bishop > Christ Jesus our Lord, the Head of the Church, and our only Saviour, the Son of God and God the Son, God in the Flesh!
All Positions from Lay Reader up should also be Reserved purely for Heterosexual, Reformed, Bible Believing, Confirmed, *Men* who are as close to Blameless as is Possible for a Sinner Saved only by the Grace of Christ Crucified and Risen.
He should have resigned a long, long, time ago.
Agree he does not preach the gospel like he should.
Yes Yes Yes definitely Yes
Definitely....
We can't even keep count the debacles now, so yes 100%
I'm in a lively growing congregation. The ones I talk to at church have no trust in his abilities. He has made so many bad decisions , he should go . And take the Archbishop of York with him , as well as the 1 in Manchester.
I can guess what Jesus would say = ENOUGH hypocrites
Bishop Nazir-Ali, at one time Bishop of Rochester, would have made an excellent Archbishop of Canterbury.
When we return to Rome he could still be
The problem was he apparently already had a foot on each side of the Tiber. The damage to the church of an ABC converting would have been immense.
@@mrbaker7443 having arrived is having no place left to go.
Yes 100%
As he has led the church into Heresy and therefore not been consistent to his ordination vows at any level, of course he should resign along with all those Bishops who have followed his lead. We need to get back to the true gospel of our Lord Jesus and honour him with our worship and service
Shutting the churches in lockdown was appalling
Yes....compare Sweeden.
English Churches are always shut even here in Thurmaston Leicestershire. I cannot go and sit and pray because its always shut. And i bet others feel the same.
I felt the same - but I also believe he thought it for the best. I cannot imagine the stress of that responsibility.
@@catherinellewelyn-evans3693 He obviously thinks there is no Biblical mandate to meet together! The Black Death didn't stop people meeting but our Archbishop of "I know best" closed churches even before the Government made a lock down decision! The decision the Government made should have challenged not second guessed as we are NOT the same as gyms and dance studios (they really did put us in that category)! Worshipping Yahweh with others is not optional for Born Again believers!
@@catherinellewelyn-evans3693 A man without spiritual discernment, respect for the Bible nor with the courage to stand against the pressures and temptations of this world cannot be a leader in the Church of Christ never mind hold the highest office in the CofE!
I saw recently, that there is only ONE christian on the panel that selects the arcbishop, no wonder we get welbys.
Please explain.
Yes..... and not just him, but all the clergymen who clearly don't even believe in God. May the Lord bless and keep you, Rev Dan.
Well it would be a start if he repented.
And became a Christian too
I’m not convinced from Scripture that an apostate can repent. A literal reading of Hebrews 6: 4-6 would imply once out always out.
@@SimonPeterSutherland Do you really go through life juridically splitting hairs over "membership" in your worldview? The discernment is for your own benefit not whether others belong. Are you saying you'd be apostate if you could?
@@davidsprouse151 Your not making any sense.
Bless your heart. BTW 'you're not making any sense" versus " you're not making any sense to me." Important difference.
Yes
Women priests are not mentioned in the Word of God. When did the Archbishop of Canterbury last read the Word of God.
@@Cara96 The priesthood of all believers mentioned by Peter is more in the context of God being equally accessible to all the faithful, without the need of a High Priest in Jerusalem. If Peter was referring to actual ministers in churches then that priesthood would also include children.
@michaelwhitehead363 I think the archbishop does read the Bible but when it comes to women leaders many read it through the spectacles of the likes of N. T. Wright and revisionist progressive liberals.
@@Cara96 The reference of St Peter to the 'Priesthood of all believers' is steeped in the Old Testament reality that people in those old days required a high priest to mediate. But in the New Testament it relates only to all believers having access to the Father through our Great High Priest Jesus Christ.
It has nothing to do with church ministers.
@@Cara96 I think the church of today is a thousand miles away from the original 1st century church. Sadly, we don't see 1 Corinthians 14: 26 modelled today, we see it managed by career preachers.
@@Cara96 Thanks for clarifying.
In the New Testament the majority of gentile congregations met in houses. There was no established state church in those days so if there was to be a Biblical reformation in our day, I suspect it could go back to that. Other than that people could go back to meeting in the outdoors. People did that in the New Testament era also.
That being said the earliest 1st century church in Jerusalem has been found and it was a building of sorts and possibly associated with James.
YES!
Although it's not his fault, Justin Welby was born into the English establishment and unsurprisingly has the attitudes and instincts which go to surviving in that particular world. In the tension between the interests of the metropolitan liberals, who own that establishment, and the Christian church it seems the establishment usually wins in his heart. That's a tragedy for him as well as for the rest of us in the Church of England. Unfortunately his capacity for making poor judgements is legendary, perhaps because of his 'sheltered' background. Although he's obviously conflicted internally, he's also a very tough cookie and won't yield to pressure for his resignation. He's done immense damage to our church and of course he should have resigned long ago.
Is his fault he is a man of God.
The problem is that you can get quite high up in the Anglican Church without actually being a Christian, it’s a good career move. Maybe Welby is born again, maybe he isn’t, I don’t know. Anglicanism seems to blur salvation somewhat and so it is no surprise to me that in many cases you have individuals that haven’t converted to Christ and so are making worldly decisions. Shame for all my brothers and sisters in Christ who are in that denomination.
The Apostasy MUST resign.
it is largely moot as to whether he should resign or not.
for he WILL stand before a far greater Judge than any here on Earth.
and will regret the day he was born
schadenfreude
Good heavens! ‘Let him who is without sin throw the first stone.’
Well said, if only more of those who stand in the pulpit recognised this sound truth.
@@edwardmeaburn7658 schadenfreude: Mediating role of moral disengagement and relational aggression. It's legion in online venues. The key point is that it's moral DISengagement (masked as moral engagement here)
My wife and I watched his enthronement live on tv and we were thrilled with the man we saw. Unfortunately he has not lived
up to the image presented on that day. Very, very disappointing. He needs to go.
Did you hear his sermon that day talking about a Gospel of Works rather than Faith?! His true colours were quite visible. It's the Archbishop of York who fooled me! He spoke the Gospel at Her Majesty's funeral but is also a charlatan! RIP Church of England.
@@bigd5090 One needs to do both. You said he was "talking about" that. Maybe he was simply talking about being lazy, fat and happy without doing any works.
@davidsprouse151 He's a hypocrite then because he get's busy with his "worldly works" not caring whether it's for God's Kingdom or not! He does not honour the teachings of the Bible nor prioritise evangelising this nation in "words and deed"! A busy unGodly CofE is still both a "clanging cymbal" and "nothing" (1 Corinthians 13:1) because they don't love people enough to warn them of the danger of Hell and the hope of Jesus Christ for their SIN. RIP CofE!
Hi Dan, hope all is well with you - as a traditional Irish Catholic in the U.K. I’ve never liked Justin Welby at all, especially after he was linked with the WEF and even less so than Rowan Williams - in the light of this scandal, I don’t hesitate for a moment in saying that he is a complete disgrace, unfit to be a vicar let alone an Archbishop - he should do the decent thing and resign immediately and if he fails to do so in a timely manner, he should be made to resign - he is a hugely divisive figure in the Church of England and it’s the last thing that the Church needs in the times that we are living through
He should actually be disciplined for not teaching and upholding sound and wholesome doctrine, and for not banishing and driving away all erroneous and strange opinions. He should in fact be excommunicated. It's that simple.
What shocked me was his refusal to meet with the Palestinian pastor, Dr. Isaac. How can Christian leaders refuse to meet each other? I am glad he apologised but it is extremely odd
Why are Church Leaders not obeying God?. Jesus said go out preach the gospel but the leaders are doing the opposite and preaching whatever the latest trend is going. No wonder Churches are becoming ghosts as people abandon Church. Even Older folks are seemingly not interested.
YES YES YES YES
Thanks
If scripture is the dividing line, then whoever crossed those lines should choose another career. If the Leaders mislead the sheep he should go and take those who agree with him.
Yes he should.
Yes of course. The buck stops with him.
What a beautiful song and beautifully sang !
Yes he should be . He does not preach or speak Christianity as brought to us through the Bible. It is typical of his snobbery in backing this decision. But one of many he is showing he is so far from Gods word . The sooner he is sacked as he will not resign must happen but it is too late to save the Church of England.
Why should this virtuous beloved man of the whole of the UK resign?
We are losing our cross to a crescent moon. Is the church going do anything???
He should, without a doubt.
He should be sacked and jailed
He will go when The Makin report is released in April. It will destroy him.
Yep!
Yes. Abandoning red lines in the Word.
Hey, where were you Sunday?
What with GAFCON & GLOBAL SOUTH from 2023 , that should be much more than is necessary to show he is bona fide a Trainwreck.
We got our Apostolic Succession from Gregory the Great, and we have the AV Bible, the Prayer Book 1662/1928, and the 39 Articles, so we don't have to worry what Welby or Francis are saying or doing.
‘Will no one rid me of this meddlesome priest?’ -Henry II. Bring back Thomas Beckett all is forgiven…
Resign. That's the same Bishop of London who wouldn't allow Calvin Robinson to be ordained, I thought she was a political appointee but I had no idea how under qualified she was
The whole of the hierarchy should go! Defend the faith 😂go woke, go broke! 😂

What about his views on Gaza and sitting back over a genocide.
I am not Welby's judge, is anyone commenting here sitting on the Throne...? Thought not
Yes, and the Pope as well.
No, it is we the true church who should resign and move to an orthodox church...
There is no express command in Scripture for any Christian to leave a church. In the New Testament excommunication is the way people leave a fellowship.
Does anyone have a link to a website with the voting results shown at 4:49 that showed Justin’s vote being in favour of same-sex blessing. I wanted to see evidence of this in some documentation online if possible.
YES -
More important, disestablish the CofE.
Most definitely yes
Welby is due to retire soon anyway. The real question is who comes next, it could get worse. Anyone for an Archbishop Mullaly?
The next archbishop should be colored. 80% of The Anglican communion lives in the global south. 😮

From what I understand, he was a successful businessman before he found his devotion to God. Soon after he was appointed archbishop and said something to the effect “why me, I’m new at this “.
In all fairness to the archbishop, he’s just being himself, a business man of faith. Maybe more business man than faith leader…?
He should be first asked to repent and if he refuses then sacked .
Justin Welby is incompetent & completely out of touch - his terrible judgement in backing Paula Vennells is typical of this.
Yes, he should resign. He is a puppet, he is a sheep. He is 😈..
Maybe he should, but who would replace him? Sarah Mullally? Please God, no.
They could well be paving the way for the first female Archbishop of Canterbury.
Too little and way too late. The damage has been done.
I often watch him talking with Gumbel. Each time I have to reach for a bucket.
I would be happy to contact u
Let's face it; the problem is the hierarchical 'career-structure' of the CLERGY. All the vacuous language of "calling" and "service" is entirely exposed by this man. Five minutes in Durham, and then "called" to Canterbury. The only good factor in his appointment is that - unlike many clerics - he had 'served' in a career outside of the Church: although, neither he, nor Sarah Mullally, is a good example of the benefits TO THE CHURCH which should accrue through such moves. And the Paula Vennells scandal is the LEAST of his errors: what of his actions during COVID? If ever a man showed a lack of faith in his Lord, it was Welby! In the Name of Jesus, GO! Problem: we need to look beyond the Bishops of England to choose his replacement. What about a turbulent Academic?
Academics have their noses in books when they should have their noses in their messes.
@@davidsprouse151 We have had great 'academic' bishops in the past: not all of them messed-up to the extent Welby has! And he's no 'academic'.
He is just another British Imperialist . I cannot understand how a man who is supposed to be a leader in a Church would kneel and swear allegiance to a man. Not a God a man. His ultimate allegiance is to the crown not God. I would never bow to any man or woman only God.
But the next one could be worse!! 👹☠️🤬🤯🤯
5:05 there you go then. I have zero sympathy for conservatives who would sooner abandon the denomination than call for a heretic to resign. Weakness on all parts here
Tip of a very bid iceberg that led the Church into apostate.
YES! Should’ve gone ages ago - a disgrace & hindrance to the Gospel
The Christian church (in the broad sense) has been mired in avarice (eg indulgences from 11th century) and politics (since at least the Council of Nicea in 325). Why should it be any different in 2024?
Peculiarly, protestants think they're the first to experience everything. Latter days the end times, each generation thinks they're unique. How queer.
I left the C of E a few years ago and now attend a Free Evangelical Church , F I E C.
He should resign because he has failed to be Christian and represent his faith. The guy is an etheos for real ...
I support he quits.
Jobs for Toffs who cares does not put Gas and Electric on the meter.
Perhaps Welby could become an imam instead.
It seems to me that he's happier advocating for islam than for Christianity.
I’m sorry this has become so boring and doesn’t glorify God in any way’ he did this he did that, sometimes I wonder if anyone reads Gods words and understands what it is to preach the Gospel,
Good point… removing the plank from one’s own eye would allow us to worship God. But the CofE needs to pay less heed to woke secularist demands
Thou shalt not commit sin". Sin was moon worship/moon god. Yet today we see a flag with the moon on flying on top of Westminster.
Evil or ignorant to his own Bible. ?
Woke Welby should never have been Archbishop of Canterbury. He has been an unmitigated disaster and has led the church of England to even greater depths of crisis.
How he can pontificate in the Lords as he does beggars belief...... send him to a small uninhabited island off the coast of Scotland where he can in silence and seclusion do Penance for all his woeful mistakes, before he has to give an account of his deeds at the Judgement!
Abandon this nonsense - join the Ordinariate
Justin Welby has to go for the sake of the Church. I beseech you in the bowels of Christ...GO.
No. He should not.
He and the Godless “SIN OD” should be sacked for they are “the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” 1Cor 2:14
“Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.”
2Tim 3
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables”. 2Tim 4:
These are they that know better
than God. God will not tell them what to believe, how to behave, they will tell God. They would rather offend God than offend those that reject God’s word. “ The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and the knowledge of the holy is understanding,” Prov 9:10…… but Welby and the SIN OD have neither.
For them, sexual preferences that God forbids, (“ ………. they are an abomination to him).” are more important than God so in effect have replaced God, idolatry in itself.
They are misleading millions, -“Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. “ Matt 15:14
To those in the Church of England that know and love God and his word, “Stand up, stand up for Jesus.” “Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.”
Acts 5
Unless and until, “IF my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; THEN will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14. I see that as an ultimatum not as a cosy suggestion.
Who was Welby's real biological father?
This is not a resigning matter. Check the log in your own eye before a splinter in someone else's eye....
Build a canoe!
Welby is a complete chameleon, you don't know where he really stands on anything, he's a politician, and therefore an habitual liar. He's a perfect example of an Anglican bishop.
Not my type of christian
And too nasal.
You got who YOU voted for. There were other candidates but you voted for Welby. What does that say about how you are being led by the Holy Spirit. Did God not see all this coming? Want to know who is responsible for poor leadership? - the people who put him there.
Dan, aren't you understating, being a bit too polite? The Bishop of London is the HIGHEST ranking bishop (after the two Archbishops) in the Church of England. How can someone be considered for that who has negligible pastoral experience and no reputation as a theologian? As for Vennells' work on Ethics Committees, in the light of what's now known that's a sick joke... All too many senior appointments have been given to people unfitted and implausible.
