@@repairvehicle I think I have the same question - the red wire at the end of the video input - the trigger wire - where did you connect it to? Is it to the truck harness or the wire harness on the unit? Some videos I watch say connect it to a wire behind the dash that controls the backup light.
Thanks for the video! Since you installed it how has it been functioning? Any issues so far and work around tips youve found to solve them? Thanks again!
I have an 08 Tundra Grade 4.7L Double Cab 4x4. I've always wanted a backup camera but my head unit isn't compatible... any recommendations for screens?
Hi, I bought the same back up handle camera for my 2010 tundra just to replace the plate license type back up camera. It is still working very good my head unit is kenwood. I installed the handle and I just used my existing wire socket with four little needles but it’s look like didn’t match with my new back up handle camera. Can you help to solve this issue. Do I need to use all the wiring and connect it like you did to the head unit. Thanks
@@repairvehicle I wanna use the existing wire line but I don’t know the correct color of cable wires. Can I cut off the two sockets and then connect the four lines wire to the other four line then use the electrical tape without using the socket. Thank you for your help.
Yes, you can cut. Make sure it has same connection. If outer part of the connector is red wire, check make sure it's same wire on the old connector, it could be different color.
Alpine ILX-w650 is what I have. Alpine sells head units and cameras. I don't know if they sell camera for tundra tailgate specifically. amzn.to/2Qz6uKl
I've watched your video about 50 times ..I've ran the wire to the point of the head unit but I have the same question as many others how to find the reverse input wire what wire to cut into ..🤷♂️ I cannot tell from the video all I can see is a red wire connected to a orange wire but we can
Good, video but I am not sure I would use those zip ties. They get brittle and break. Black is a bit better, but good hook and loop may be better, I have had zero luck with zip ties.

Very good job, I was wondering how to install mine but now I now, thanks to you
Thank you! Living in the Northeast US, I'm envious of your clean, rust-free frame.

Hey friend! Thanks for the great video. Have you had any issues in the last few years? Anything you would have changed?
No issues. Nothing I would change
What did you connect the red wire on the unit side to?
I didn't show that in the video?
@@repairvehicle no you haven't it be awesome tho to know what wire it is
@@alen82904 , I did show where to connect red wire on the unit side. Watch video without skipping.

I am considering the same head unit you have in this video. Can you tell me where you purchased the dash kit for it?

Do you have the OEM head unit?

there is two options. Install new wire that came with cable or cut and re-solder socket if you know how to.

Reverse input wire on the head unit or main cable?
You connect reverse trigger wire to your reverse lights
I have already connected to the reverse lights I'm at the head unit now ..at the main ..coming from the main what color
Your wire harness at the head unit has wire labeled reverse. Connect wire from camera cable to the reverse wire on the head unit harness.
I have the same question. Did you get it figured out?

Thank you for sharing your experience with zip ties. I need to check and see how they are in few years.
@@repairvehicle no problem, the good thing is that they are not in the sun. FYI white zip ties are much worse in the sun than the black ones. :)
It there a backup wire in the dash
I don't understand your question
Mind has a purple wire what about that one
?

Camera in the handle doesnt give you good visibility. camera faces the ground only. it cant be adjusted.
Actually it opposite
Alot of oil under that Tundra.... 🛢️🤔
Nh oil. That's why it's so clean from rust
It's undercoating, very important for those of us who live in the rust belt.

He is not a mechanic if he afraid to get dirty, he just a scammer that looks for easy money
