Are the Royal Marines using M4 because they are training with the US Marine, or this is really their standard issue riffle? I thought hey were using SA80
With their rangers and other SF units being issued new rifles which is an AR platform from KAC l bet it will trickle down to other units with time, coz the Brits sure do hate their bullpups from their comments online regarding the new rifles their rangers are getting.
The Knights armaments rifle is for the RM and ranger regt. The RM unit that's trianing here already used the colt Canada c8 short barrel, as do the RM maritime special operations teams. The RM strike teams are now using the knights armaments ks1.

You can get an 18X contract in the US Army that guarantees a shot at SFAS after you complete infantry OSUT and Airborne school. But you have to meet certain requirements, one of which is being at least 20 years old. They don't want naive kids full of Call of Duty fantasies nor dumb people. Do you even know what the "Green Berets" do? US Army Special Forces aren't primarily a sexy flash bang unit. The bread and butter work of SF is foreign internal defense. Training and working with foreign armies and fighting alongside them, living alongside them and speaking their language, giving them and their animals medical treatment, etc. It requires mature and intelligent men to do that. Yes they do Direct Action too, but that's more of a Ranger thing.
It's literally a Canadian M4 carbine with minor differences in the rail and receiver. Colt Canada just designates it the C7/C8 vs Colt USA designating it the M4 lol. They are functionally and fundamentally identical.
Am Joseph from Kenya i am 36years old i always desire to join the US military 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲 coz it has been my desire if its happend for me being in the USA can they take me with that age of 36years
To be realistic with you, it's not going to happen. You're Kenyan and presumably you don't have a green card, which is what you require to enlist in the US military. Unless you win the green card lottery (Diversity Visa scheme), you probably don't have any avenues to immigrate to the US. You don't have an American spouse or close family member to sponsor you, you probably don't have an advanced degree and years of experience for an American employer to sponsor you, you don't qualify for asylum, etc. Ignore what low IQ conservatives say, legal permanent immigration to the US is difficult. There isn't some magic line you can jump into. That's why the country has millions of illegal immigrants. Any avenue that is open to you will take a few years, by the time you get your green card and move to America, you'll be too old to enlist in any of the services. If you do actually have a green card, the Air Force and Navy will take you at that age. Their maximum ages are around 40. You're too old for the Army and Marine Corps.
Finally starting ? Uksf have used an ar platform for the last 30 years at least, RM teams have been using an AR platform for at least the last decade or longer. RM / ranger are now completely switching to ar. There's nothing in the works for conventional units to switch to ar. Tell me what's so awful about the sa80 ? It's heavy for what it is, you can't fire it from the left shoulder and can't use limited penetration rounds with it but that's all that's wrong with it and none of those facts make it awful. I've used the sa80, ar platforms, G3, ak, M16 whilst operational and the sa80 is not awful compared to any of them. It's not as good an all rounder as say, c8 or M4 but it's actually better at certain things.
@@Barrybud2816 reality is it was a giant waste of money when AR platform would have been much cheaper on spare parts, upgrades etc. I have used both and the SA80 does not feel good to shoot compared to an M4 at all. There’s a reason SF groups stuck with it. I dread to think how much they spent on SA throughout the years of iterations.
@@MarshallDice oh yeah, don't get me wrong, ar platform is better if only because it's a better all rounder, which is what you want really isn't it. Also completely agree re the waste of money and numerous iterations.
@sabo3117 The SA80/L85 is due to get replaced in the next couple of years (Project GRAYBURN). I would bet any money they're going to go with an AR platform. The French and Germans have switched to an AR platform (HK416) and so have numerous other countries. If the US Army goes ahead and actually adopts the XM7/XM250 and the 6.8 round, I can see the Brits possibly hopping on that bandwagon. Yeah it might only be for Army close combat units for the near future, but the 6.8 will eventually become the service round and be adopted by the rest of the US military, and then the NATO round. Simple logistics. The Brits are possibly waiting to see what happens there. IMO the Brits should never have gone with the SA80 in the first place. The first SA80 iteration was a piece of shit, which I'm sure you well know, but the AR platform was proven by the 1980s and its issues were mostly ironed out. They should've just adopted the C7 when they were replacing the SLR like Canada, Denmark, etc. The bullpup fad has all but came to an end (China is ditching their bullpup too), the only real argument for it was a longer barrel in a shorter weapon, but that's outdated thinking. You don't need a long barrel with modern machining, etc.
@@MG-wk2ehyes, I do agree. Ar platform from the start would have been better for a lot of reasons. The sa80 from the A2 onwards isn't bad, it's an acceptable service rifle for most units. Hell, realistically anyone could use it...even tier 1 units could get the job done using it! But when I say it's alright, I mean it's gone from terrible and unworkable to workable and good at a couple of things. The ar platform is the top all rounder on the market, which is what you want from a service rifle. Performance, cost and interoperability....we should have had the AR from the start.
