- Today Anthem of the Seas docks at our first port, Stavanger Norway! We go on the Lysefjord RIB Safari boat excursion, explore the city, then get back on board for dinner at Johnny Rockets. In this Norwegian Fjords cruise we will be visiting Flam, Stavanger, Olden, and Bergen Norway!

Do you two have jobs? Yes! We both have full time careers. Brian is a Software Engineer and Kerry is a Graphic Designer.
Is this vlog a paid promotion with the cruise line? No, we have never worked with a cruise line before (I doubt they even know who we are 😂). If that ever changes, we will be sure to let you know in the video.
What are those black pouches around your neck? We use the lanyards to carry some camera equipment, but many cruisers like to wear lanyards to hold their room key card.
What camera do you use? We typically use the DJI Pocket II, however, when we are in the water we use the Go Pro Hero 9, and in Alaska we occasionally used the Nikon P1000 for wildlife shots. What is a GUSS? GUSS is our name for a Towel Animal! It is a childhood memory for Brian that has lived on for years. You can see the home video moment where GUSS was born in Adventure of the Seas Day 6 (We Made the News) and Allure of the Seas Day 3 (Sea Day).
Is that one thing you said serious? Almost certainly not. If you’re new to the channel, we have really dry, sarcastic senses of humor. So if you’re questioning if it’s sarcasm - it probably is.
How do I ask a dinner time question? Leave a comment on any video and let us know it’s supposed to be answered at dinner time. We’re always looking for new questions (even if the next cruise we can answer it on is a long long way out).
Is it really pronounced CoCo “Key”? Royal Caribbean has said itself that it is pronounced “Key” in a FAQ of their own here: creative.rccl.com/Sales/Royal.... To each their own on this pronunciation!
When and how did you meet? We met in February of 2020 via a dating app. We answer this question in more detail in our Independence of the Seas Day 2 (Swimming with Pigs) video.

I was in Stavanger on a cruise several years ago. I went to the Petroleum Museum, and it was one of the most interesting museums I have ever been to. It was also a beautiful day that day.

Hardly interesting facts:
- Norway and Sweden have the same name of their currency: Krona (meaning Crown in English). Denmark are more fancy and sticks an "e" at the end: Krone.
- All three languages are very similary. Norwegians and Sweds have no problem understanding each other. But when the Danes shows up both of us goes:
"Please swallow your beer before you speak!".
- Norwegian cows are protected by law. So all beef comes from cows that are volunteers!
- How do you sink a Norwegian submarine? You swim down and knock at the hatch!

I was on a fall foliage cruise last week and I went to a Starbucks and found both Montreal and Quebec. Prettier than just Canada. I did find Germany and Denmark on my Baltic cruise. I think next year I'll be going to Norway

Dinner time question- if you could get rid of a 1 group class of ship , which class would it be and why?
I was wondering about the pouch. I figured that you kept your phones in there. Now you say camera equipment and I wonder if you have the DJI wireless mics in there. Your audio always sounds so good. I never really hear any wind noise so the pouches, if you have mics in there, could act as a dead cat. Otherwise those DJI's just have really good audio.
I assumed they were mic packs as well - their sound is crystal clear!
Do you also have a mic in the black pouch? Your audio is always very good even when not close to the camera.

I also did Norway earlier this year, and also found the ports to just be SO pretty. Also, your comments about being dressed for the weather cracked me up - I bet your ship was full of Brits - if we're on holiday, we'll be wearing shorts and t-shirt regardless of the weather...!!

I love your videos! My partner and i have always been interested in cruises because we live in a port city so we see lots of ships coming and going. But we have never been on any of them. My question is, do you find really good deals and is it best to go through a travel agent or just scour websites online? Or another method? Thank you both!!
You gotta try it! We currently don’t use a travel agent, and we mostly cruise based around our work schedules and free cruise offers from the casino.

Royal and Celebrity still allow drones for now. As far as we know they are the last 2 cruise lines that allow them

Being someone who has not visited Europe. When going on a cruise in Europe, how do you go about preparing your currency? Do you exchange it it that country or did you come prepared?
We came prepared! We got some GBP and Kroner from our local bank in the US before flying over
Cash is rarely needed. Most things can be payed for by credit card. Its also usual very safe. Consult with your bank before leaving to check with them for advice.
Normal you get a better exchange rate when using the card than you do if you buy cash. Again, check with your bank if the take some kind of extra fee for transaction in foreign currency.

we got it at our local bank before we left! i think every place we went to accepted credit cards, but we didn’t want the foreign transaction fee. ok the last day of the cruise we converted it back to USD at the front desk onboard

How much puffin money do you recommend taking for you cruise? Also did you find it difficult to communicate in English in the different towns or did a lot of people speak English?
We brought about $300 worth of puffin money, we liked using it just because it was fun, but every place we went to took credit cards/apple pay, so you really don’t need to bring any. We exchanged our unused puffin money at the front desk on the ship for dollars after left our last Norway port. Everyone spoke english well enough to communicate with us, we never had a problem with that!
