      If my ancestors had not left East Anglia in 1634 to move to Massachusetts, I might at least have passed by this estate on a country drive. Fascinating…

    Julie, you are, without doubt, an amazing interview woman - an incredible history bringer to those who can't "be" there - an elegant guest who shows respect and interest and we can SEE it is real excitement you bring to all these "tours" you share with us! I know I will make it through the dull Winter blue period knowing you have such in depth and insightful shows to watch! THANK YOU!

    Julie does it once again. With her unique style and professionalism ,Julie introduces us to this wonderful estate, its owners ,managers gardners and custodians. Her interview techinque puts her subjects at ease and allows them to shine. Her questions are relevent and enquiring .Coming from a place of shared experience. The interviews are not rushed or time constrained.
    So each person can give well articulated answers on their passion.
    Well done to Julie and the Team. Top marks on production, content, subject, professionalism and all done with humour and kindness.

    Another fascinating video. Lovely to see another estate that has struck the balance between the environment and food production as well as preservig the living history of the house. P.S. Thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas Fair yesterday.

    The front garden is beautiful! The lake makes me think of Lake Dennison in Ma. USA. We use to go camping there, until dad found Rand Pond up in NH. I am going to agree with some of the other commenters here, this is the best estate you have featured thus far.

    Beautiful estate. The buildings and gardens are special. The 150 yr old maze is also quite grand and quite English. Julie does nice laid back conversations and is genuinely interested in the owners, staff and maintenance. Never thought of storks as part of rewilding but they are spectacular birds.

    So glad to find you again. I used to watch consistently but somehow lost track of this show. I am in California with 2 acres (it seems big to us) and I love to see how others are using their space. This one is so different from our place that it was a real treat to 'visit'. I had ancestors that lived in this part of England. Our place is in an area that has become quickly populated and that has driven the native wildlife to look for places to live. Everything here is informal and there are a lot of trees, frequently planted by birds and squirrels over the years. We have had wild turkeys and skunks but they moved on. Now there are raccoons, opossums. kit foxes {endangered species) and cars (not endangered but much loved), Good luck to you in all of your projects and please keep coming back to inspire us. Watching videos like yours is like taking a mini-vacation. 🏵☘🌺🌹🌳🌲

    Hate the wall to wall carpet - detracts from the heritage etc - is it for warmth or to protect floor boards- around the toilet ? That would be hit and miss - imagine the smell and the cleaning?

    Julie Montague does so much for her marital country which she obviously loves. An award from the British government please and an award from English heritage please. Plus a grant for her home "Mapperton" upkeep.

    • @7ofthem
      @7ofthem Місяць тому

      Oh come on … it’s all to make money for her own house , and there’s nothing wrong with that , but it’s not award worthy .
      The aristocracy are famous for being rich and thick and having no idea how to make money from their estates . That’s why so many lost them …
      At least she’s out there trying new things to make money. UTube is one way and American patreon another .

    This estate is really nice, and quite large, but i have to be honest about the crimson room, it looks like someone shot the couch, just a bit to much of that wall paper. We all have different likes and dislikes, in fact I've never seen one of these estates where the decorating seemed a bit much, but the crimson room had be do a double take.
    Thanks for another great historical estate tour Julie, the garden's and wildlife conservation area's were nice, and i like the foot print of the home. I hope you get to restore the tapestries at Mapperton, i am just so curious about how all the pieces that were cut out, but found, will look after the repairs. G-d bless.

    So this is very close to where my ancestors came from. They came from Great Yarmouth. Do these places have records of employees from the 1700-1800s and beyond? Makes me wonder if any of my ancestors worked there.

    Did you realize that you failed to mention the NAME of this house/estate in descrtiption? I'd like to read more about its history, see their website, etc. And did not get the NAME written down fast enough when it flashed so briefly early in the video. For all your house tours, PLEASE write name of the house, the website in the description. I'm sure owners would also like their website listed so people check on booking tours, or hiring the house, or shopping their gift shop, etc.
