This was pretty great. it's nice to see stormtroopers being competent in regards to shooting and for the rebels, I really get that vibe of the mission's outcome is all that matters, returning home is a secondary priority which is how I saw alot of the galactic civil war. Rebels losing most/all of their forces getting their objective done resulting in tactical victories in the long run.
Quinn Robinsson You try thinking of an original, meaningful quote. This genre is so saturated these days that it is difficult to generate something that isn’t, in any way, already a cliche. I thought it was a cool quote with a Star Wars spin.

Daniel Robinson-Temara The Wilhelm Scream being included by movie directors is part of a world wide conspiracy by the liberal Hollywood elites. It’s a signal; that they’re all in on this dastardly plot. Just kidding! 😂
This is canon to me. You even managed to make stormtroopers intimidating while also having the viewer root for the rebels. Also, are we not gonna talk about the action? The rebels are actually taking cover and providing covering fire instead of just firing into the open. Bravo, easily the best SW fan film I’ve ever seen
FUCHMAN 1 MILLION Do you realise how dumb you sound, star WARS. It has war in the name, the clone WARS tv show was so popular for its representation of the horrors of war and how they effect the soldier but made it appeal to both adults and kids. War is the most prominent theme in star WARS and the action adventure genre is built around it to appeal to kids.
It's not easy to make a fan film man. It takes a lot of money. So don't blame the people who can't afford to make an expensive fan film. And a "cheap" can still be great great. It's still a FAN Film. Not a hollywood film ;)
Soldier fan films are almost always the best. With the exception of the Mual fan film. The episode of TCW about clones were usually the best ones and Rogue One is one of the best Star Wars film to date. Try again.
I 100% believe that if Star Wars truly wants the most successful Movie/Tv Show, then they better start hiring people that put this much heart and thought into their stories. Fans aren't making new Canon with new abilities or ships or super weapons, they put them selves into the universe trying their damnedest to not break canon or lore, these are the people you hire for making the story. NOT the fuckwits that break their own lore just for a cool shot every 30 min in each movie.
True. We the hardcore fans of Star Wars. Without us Star Wars wrill crumble. We are what makes it special. You can't only cater to casuals because they follow trends and trends cone and go. We would be Lucasfilm's consistent support network, those who help promote it to others, a steady source of income when the trends are over, and spend the most on the franchise if they gave us what we want. Plus products made by people who truly care about what they are doing are always of better quality.
Maniac Magge that’s why Dave Filoni and the crew working on The Clone Wars in the final seasons were so great, and I think that the cast and crew of Mandalorian might pull something off.
It took me over two years to watch this and I don't think I have ever commented on anything on UA-cam before (not that my comments matter), but this is one of the best Star Wars experiences I have had in a long, long time. Thank you very much and may the Force with you. Always.
Because in this creative project didn't take part things like ideology, political interests or Katheleen Kennedy. Is a film made by fans who loves and understand the heart of star wars and also made for fans, to excite and move feelings, no wallets and brains to their dark side.
How can some passionate fans make a fan film that truly feels like the original trilogy and the actual people making money for their movie make unrelatable trash, thank you for your contribution to art and Star Wars 👍👍👍
You guy really want every Star Wars movie to look like that. I give props to the people who made this but they don’t have the technology that lucasfilm has and can’t afford good actors. This must have been very hard to make but you guys will complain about anything that Star Wars puts out today. Right now I sick and tired of the hate that Star Wars fans are putting out. It’s ok to not like something but that doesn’t mean the company is trash and they need new management. It discourages me when I see people be like this
There's actually like, a surprising amount of layers in this. I absolutely adored this. "Remember why we fight." Couldve gotten out of there quieter, saved some troops, but they saved those civilians. Inspiring that boy, letting the revolution live on. Hearts and minds, not bodies and blasters. Awesome work y'all.
"Remember Why We Fight" would've been a better tagline for EpVIII than "If you only believe in the Sun when it shines, you'll never make it through the night" or "We won't win by fighting what we hate but by saving what we love..."
That rebel preferes random dude with son to his own unit? I mean... If he want his squad to be save and alive he wouldn't compromise it, so he actually don't want to safe it or what? This is just ridiculous. I get your point, but in terms of logic - this rebel got almost WHOLE squad KIA because he decided to save ONE fckn random dude.
@@vildanlatypov8696 The idea behind the quote is "We're not fighting for ourselves, our livelihoods, or our ideals; we fight for the people who dare to stand against evil." The point of the Rebellion was to speak for those who were silenced by the Empire, not to just conform to military standards of fraternity, but a more universal sense. Tactically it makes no sense, but the point of the video is to see it from a narrative sense
Congratulations! I loved this fan film. I saw Star Wars in 1977 (I'm 50 years old) and I'm happily surprised the amount and quality of these new fan films that take me back to that era with much nostalgia. I loved the fact that the story is not about Jedis Vs Siths and lightsabers duels. Great work!
@Sam Well, without modern tech this film wouldn't be possible. So with everything good and bad can be achieved. It's all in what, we, as an individual decide to do with it.
So I see a lot of comments saying that he saved one guy at the cost of 3 well yes but that’s not the point, the point is they are giving hope...now people know that rebels are willing to sacrifice them selfs for just 1 person
That might be true. But another part is what does it say about the 1 trooper who was willing to get his teammates killed to save 1 civilian just for the stormtroopers to go right back and kill anyone else because the rebels tried to save them. The Empire's MO was usually to kill anyone who was seen as rebel sympathizers or people protected by rebels. This 1 trooper just green-lighted other stormtrooper squads to burn any other homesteads in the area for being rebel supporters.
Death From 907 And isn’t that what the rebellion is all about? Fighting the tyranny of the Empire with a selfless desire to protect the galaxy? When they joined the alliance, they knew they might die, and if they would die, it should be when they’re fighting for freedom and for hope.
I didn't, it's annoying as hell and immediately takes me out of what I'm watching. Oh, the audio editor made a funny is not what I should be thinking when I'm trying to engage with a story. It's time for it to die.
I would love to se a Rebel squad series that followed there story through the civil war, where the squad was as highly trained and skilled as modern special forces. Deploying tactics and like to finish a mission, not just using plot amour.
This was actually pretty good. Palpable tension during the hacking scene, and I loved the circular nature in the way the story was told. Caught me off guard and didn't expect it at all. Cool stuff.
Gosh, FINALLY a Star Wars Fanfilm where the Director told the Actors to NOT pretend the Blasters having recoil! because they dont! It seems like a minor thing to focus on, but i HATE it when Troopers in SW Fanfilms wave arround their blasters like a kid with an airsoft pistol going "pew! pew!" Good body language for all the Troopers and Rebels, Good Setting, and the movie isnt desperately trying to deliver more than they can effort. in my opinion thats great! SW Fanfilms dont always need special effects that end up looking horrible, or a Jedi or a Lightsaber Duel. This is really decent, yet well done! i'd have some really minor complaints considering the editing in one or two shots, but all at all it's really entertainig!
There are definitely scenes of actors pretending there is recoil, even in Ep4. When Han is shooting troopers before their escape from tatooine, or when chewie is blasting cameras in the detention level. Its inconsistent across the entire franchise really.
no, almost all the time han is shooting he just holds the blaster straight forward and the laser leaves the muzzle without moving the blaster. just check out the opening of ANH, when that very first rebel guy leans from his cover to blast the very first stormtrooper. his blaster aint moving a centimeter! some of them are, but just VERY VERY decent! almost non-visible!
In the original films, the blasters were often real guns firing blanks (you can even see ejected casings in some shots). A blank round has an incredibly soft, almost unnoticeable recoil. So from that alone, we might say that "canonically", blasters have soft to no recoil. But undeniably, we see blaster recoil on numerous occasions. Go back and watch the arena battle from Attack of the Clones. The blasters are kicking quite a bit there. I personally think the most responsible position to take is "some blasters seem to have no recoil, while others do."
When it came to the stormtroopers and shoretrooper gear it looked like it came right from the Lucasfilm costume department, But this was really awesome, just wish it was longer.
Yes, I'd love to see a fan film with a nova trooper in action in the future and another one that is about a squad of stormcommandos. SFM Star Wars has shown us a fan film with a stormtrooper commander and seeing a fan film with an imperial shock trooper or two would also be golden.
I keep going back to writing my own film. It went from a Star Wars fan film to my own idea. And this is one of many short films thay have inspired me to continue with it.
Wow. ODYSSEY really lived up to the hype I had for it. this was simply breathtaking. I got chills at many parts and I am currently tearing up while writing this. Please do not stop making movies and fan films. Now, this- this is the fan film I've been looking for.
Let me elaborate on a few things. the reason why I was tearing up is because I was finally watching a movie I anticipated for over a year now. And it definitely was everything I expected and more. It is, without a doubt in my mind, the best fan film I have watched. and I have watched A LOT of fan films. It also made me realise how big and ever-expanding the Star Wars lore is. hopefully this clears things up a bit.
@@TheOnlyHollywood1 sure but that's only the clone wars, rogue one is the only movie with actual combat, we got see much more of it and that's what the whole fan base wants

To this day one of the best Star Wars short films on UA-cam. Engaging cinematography, snappy action, clean editing. Your actors sell the danger. And most importantly, your story is simple and competently written, making it leagues above most of the bland bilge on UA-cam.
That's right. We the fans are the heart and soul of this franchise. Boycott episode 9 and show Disney that they must cater to us as the loyal fan base of true Star Wars. Besides, if Disney wants to make a profit then they need to make stuff that fans will want to buy. It's business 101, cater to your consumers. They can't thrive catering to casuals because casuals follow trends and trends cone and go. You need loyal fans to consistently promote a franchise, for a steady source of income, and to be the first ones to promote a film and build up the hype for big projects which will open it up to the casuals.
Just curious, where was the location you shot this one? The "bunker" resembles something forgotten from WWII, and could literally be anywhere in the Pacific
Not perfect but as a fan film this is pretty damn impressive. Location, set design, effects, props, wardrobe, camera work, all really spectacular stuff. Like, wow. Acting was almost perfect which is as good as anyone can hope for in a fan film. Naturally, one will recognize the absurdity of risking a mission and killing your whole team for the sake of one peasant father, but it's not outside of the scope of plausibility. So that gets a pass. Also, not sure "Odyssey" fits, as the word alludes to a long journey full of impossible obstacles. This mission is just a single firefight. So maybe take more care next time with titles. But in all, still pretty wow'ed. Good job and EVERYONE involved should keep pursuing film. Promising stuff!!!
Yeah, and a direct reference to legendary Greek literature in a Star Wars universe is definitely misplaced. The only way to justify it would be to suggest that the relatively recent and terrestrial Homer named Odysseus after ancient, alien Star Wars lore. Otherwise, it's about as awkward as Luke quoting Shakespeare. Again, not a big deal in a fan film. Just something to remember when considering similar details in future projects.
Robin L. Sumlin I had honestly wished it was a short adventure story that lasted years. I liked it a lot, sure. But did it divert my expectations? Almost entirely. That's not a bad thing in all cases, but this one I feel it was.

This fan-film should have the views SW Theory’s Vader fan-film is making right now. Great job to everyone, the effects are well done and the cinematography is top-notch! The story approach is what I wished RO could’ve focus a bit more.
Not dissing on star wars theory, but I actually enjoyed this a lot more, the effects were better to be honest. I loved the costume design, the sound design, the acting, the music, the story. Amazing job! Also the wilhelm scream being used for the first stormstrooper death, brilliant!
I like Vader better. All for the same reasons you like this one better haha. One thing that always bothers me in movies or anything though is when people are literally supposed to be running for their lives they just kinda jog at a 10 minute mile pace. You know? Like oh yea bullets are wizzing by me, let’s keep up a steady jog guys! It always gets to me. Kills immersion.
I love how simulating the weight of the blaster rifles is really a focus for the actors. It's excellent. The non linear nature of the narrative was very well done. I am super impressed and love every second of this film. Thank you so much for making this. As a Star Wars fan, I was very moved. I cannot thank you more for the realism and the tremendous effort put into the production. Amazing.
And for some reason the rebels seem quite well organised even though you would expect since they are essentially a militia force you wouldn’t expect them to be well organised but they are and also the fact that the storm troopers were actually hitting their target like they should be shows that the creators paid attention
NPCs-SJW destroyed Star Wars: Although it is a matter of opinion regardless, Star Wars doesn’t need saving. A disgruntled and vocal fanbase isn’t going to be it’s demise. There is plenty of upcoming content to choose from. To say none of it holds good prospect defeats the purpose of identifying as a Star Wars fan. There is content for everyone; people just need to be willing to find it within the immense franchise.
NPCs-SJW destroyed Star Wars They’re humans too. It’d be foolish to think they have heard none of the hundreds of thousands of insults hurled at them by fans, the people they created Star Wars content for. Said content is well-intended (if not generally accepted as quality material), and, yes, the movies are products designed to generate profit because Lucasfilm is still a company as it was before the Disney acquirement. Money-making is a valid motive that should not be criminalized. I’d be a bit bitter too and probably ignore much of what “fans” had to say about me (not to say I would not consider feedback). As for Solo, I think it unfairly suffered TLJ backlash. It was simply too soon after that movie and, for whatever reason, “fans” felt justified in boycotting the movie out of resentment for TLJ even though they are two different projects in their own rites. Sure, they sent a sour message to Lucasfilm, but at the expense of what was, in my opinion, an excellent Star Wars film. Not to mention that, because of the Solo boycott and underperformance, the Boba Fett movie is dead. Yea, that sure helped the franchise... Anyways, I went on a bit of tangent, but I hope you get my point(s).

@@nickter745thebold8 well its mostly to do with props and vfx, if you want to buy a stormtrooper outfit itll cost you allot of money, anywhere from 600-1000, and allot of the props are 3d printed which would also cost a fair amount, they would have to hire vfx artists to make sure the product is polished also. what reward do they get? they gain an audience and allot of the time they will be hired by high production teams

I 100% believe that if Star Wars truly wants the most successful Movie/Tv Show, then they better start hiring people that put this much heart and thought into their stories.

Gosh, FINALLY a Star Wars Fanfilm where the Director told the Actors to NOT pretend the Blasters having recoil! because they dont! It seems like a minor thing to focus on, but i HATE it when Troopers in SW Fanfilms wave arround their blasters like a kid with an airsoft pistol going "pew! pew!"
Good body language for all the Troopers and Rebels, Good Setting, and the movie isnt desperately trying to deliver more than they can effort. in my opinion thats great! SW Fanfilms dont always need special effects that end up looking horrible, or a Jedi or a Lightsaber Duel. This is really decent, yet well done! i'd have some really minor complaints considering the editing in one or two shots, but all at all it's really entertainig!
Sergeant Cyro wait why wouldn’t they and how would you know
There are definitely scenes of actors pretending there is recoil, even in Ep4. When Han is shooting troopers before their escape from tatooine, or when chewie is blasting cameras in the detention level. Its inconsistent across the entire franchise really.
Sergeant Cyro There is always recoil on a weapon...
no, almost all the time han is shooting he just holds the blaster straight forward and the laser leaves the muzzle without moving the blaster. just check out the opening of ANH, when that very first rebel guy leans from his cover to blast the very first stormtrooper. his blaster aint moving a centimeter! some of them are, but just VERY VERY decent! almost non-visible!
It's always nice to see the fandom creating good things instead of just complaining about things.
Felt like a deleted scene right out of Rogue One. Very professionally executed.

Odyseey was their squad name.
TroyHurricane correct, but a different squad name would have fit better. Symbolism is what he is going for.
Can’t “Odyssey” refer to the cause as a whole? Not just this one mission?
And yet again, the Fans shine grater than Disney. Good work

This is like a a narrated trailer that the narrator went on a jack black solo and wouldn’t shut up lol
Lucasfilm wants to keep making their SJW crap
