Why make a Star Wars fan film?
If you had asked me when I was seven years old, what film I would make if I ever got the skill, I would have said: "Star Wars" - Normally Star Wars film are made by a thousand people for a lot of money. This one is made by a few for almost nothing.
We made this film because we love Star Wars and the art of filmmaking. It's a tribute to the old school cinematic style and an experiment to see if we could make a twenty-minute live-action Star Wars story and still retain that wonderful Star Wars feeling.
A lot of time, love and energy went into making this film, and it was an absolute blast. Hope you enjoy it! May the force be with you, always! - Jesper Tønnes

I'm 58. I was disappointed with the prequels largely because they seemed incoherent, the first two movies appearing to veer far from the original lore, then the third trying to patch everything up, and the acting and dialogue overall subpar and cringy. But that was nothing compared to the Disney movies, which are just short of abysmal, so much so I stopped watching any of it after Solo. Frankly parts of the EU (Heir to the Empire trilogy, etc) and fan fic both satire and serious are the only things which have kept my interest and imagination: The Last Padawan, Darth Maul: Apprentice, Troops, For the Empire, Scene 38 Reimagined, etc, even really weird ones like Dark Resurrection.

That was a very well written short. The ending was not entirely predictable and it was a wholly pleasant surprise when he cut his Padawan braid and left it on the corpse of the inquisitor sent to kill him. He over and his last enemy, his fear, and overcame the evil sent to dispatch him. The symbolism is powerful and yet simple. The fact that a Jedi can be scary to non-jedi not just a vaguely benevolent swordsman. Anyone else question how there are no actual lightsabre marks on the fallen inquisitor? I'm fairly sure that this might be an indication of the inquisitor having used the force to move the lightsabre blade past him quickly and come back out. This was used in the star wars the clone wars scene on a sort of weird planet thing with representations of the force.

I enjoy Star Wars fan films, but generally I know that they can be pretty trashy. They almost always revolve around a fight, or some figure we know. Or just doom for a runaway jedi. They generally lack characterization, pacing, and all happen very quickly, regardless of the run time of the film. This is the first I've seen that felt about a journey, lasting over days. While your padawan character did feel a tad lifeless, just because he didn't talk much, the imperial agents were all given the time to flesh out some basic personality. Your cuts were great, your music, sound fx, lightsaber fx were all on point. However you did the imperial ships was incredible. Even your opening crawl felt very star wars. No colorful language and most importantly, no assumption of previous viewing. You just laid out of the facts of the story. Would absolutely love to see more from you, especially if you take the time to make these films about characters and their personal struggles. Incredible job.

You did EVERYTHING RIGHT! Right down to the intro, it was just like the originals, your one of the few fan films to truly make it feel like Star Wars, and not just feel like the Star Wars universe! You did a great job!

Truly one of the best fan films I've seen yet, really great work, fantastic acting and writing. Other than the back pack, it felt just like a cannon Star Wars story. Often the weakest point of these fan films are the acting and over reaching on the limited special effects budget, but this was not the case with this at all. Very high quality work begging to end. The light saver fight was especially well executed and truly perfect in my humble, nerdy, opinion. The effects in that scene especially were true to the original to a degree that surpasses all the high budget films, the prequels and sequels and other universe stories.
The most i can say for this is that it left me wanting more, which is very rare for a fan film. i hope you make more, everyone involved in this film should be very proud and i hope continues to keep making films in all genres, including of course, Star Wars.

Awesome. Acting is not Hollywood but I've seen lots of professional theatre plays and it's really good (and this is a fan film!). Specially the Inquisitor... what a presence, attitude, voice, and on top of that his swordfighting skills impressed me! The padawan was actually convincing too, except when he opens his guard for the speech.
The vision at the start and the achievement message at the end added a mystic feeling: good taste. Nice visual effects, specially when the swords clash.
    Loved it!

This is extremely well-done! From just a fan-film perspective, the story and choreography pay a truly worthy tribute to the Star Wars franchise. Special effects were great and the animation was on-point. Amazing job!

You know I don't normally watch Star Wars fan films, they always come off really cheesy with the acting and the choreography of fights and they either try to do too much or well always try to do too much. But this one was much different. It was contained in its own place, the acting was great, the choreography was wonderful and the directing as well. This one gets an A+. Very well done!

Love this film. Love the little touches like the two moons in the background. Would love to have seen them at night during the fight. This gives me hope that further Star Wars movies can survive beyond the skywalker saga.

    they got the quote wrong.
