- It's Japan VS Germany in the battle of the rear engine cars! We had $10,000 each and ended up with an MR2 and an old VW Moong Buggy. After much fixing and modifications, these two rear engine nuggets will go through a series of challenges... and the WINNER TAKES ALL!
Will the mighty JDM MR2 take the ultimate prize, or will the modified VW Beetle take the victory with it's heavily tuned 2.1L engine? We're about to find out!

@@juststeve5542 nah, that engine can be rebuilt. It was an unknown performance engine that had been sitting for years. It will live, breath, and jump again.

The moon buggy was sweet, but it brought a smile to my face to see Marty having so much fun in the MR2 after all the frustrating hours working on MrPoo.
Marty - watched your whole MR2 rebuild. Thank you for taking the time to bring this deuce to her former glory and saving another one from the scrap yard.

Seeing Marty just having fun in this car that was a complete pain in the ass every step of the way is so nice.
That's the real victory here. Nothing beats that feeling when you finally get to just drive after fighting the car to make it work.
As an mr2 owner I can verify that they are reliable and so much fun to drive!

I had one (an AW11) for a few years and yessss, every day after finishing work I practically ran to my car out of excitement to drive it home. I'd still have it now but the rust gods took it.

This is what true friendship and respect is all about. The mutual respect between Moog and Marty and in the end giving the Bug to Isaac, who really knows to appreciate that. This episode really made my day, thank you!
Can we have an autopsy report on the Vadge ? Like why did it blow the rocker covers ? Was there too much crank case pressure ? Where did all the metal soup come from ?
After the first drag run, Marty spotted something had fallen off the Vadge but didnt say anything and let her go for another run. That's when is got f'ed.

You could move the crank 1/2 inch and spin the main bearings by hand while the case is torqued.
Never stopped running though.
Loose engine is a happy engine.
The 2180 probably was too tight.
The oil was gold when they had the rocker cover off before that. It was already F'ed.

No way. Honda swap. A friend of mine has an old vw bus and blew up 3 vw engines. Swapped in stock honda engine and has been 100% reliable
It lifted a front wheel when turning..... so more power will make it a death trap... so, of course subaru turbo😁
Great video as always, though I've got to say I'm sad there were no real handling challenges considering it's a mid/rear engine car challenge. Would have loved to see a video with the MR2 more like the Golf R vs Evo video :)

Words cannot express how much I love the W20 MR2. A relative of mine has one we plan on fixing for my older sister's wedding and (somehow) is gonna be mine by the end of it. I cannot wait. I've been wanting to get my hands on this car for years and seeing it kick the arse of a VW is so satisfying

watching Isaac stare at his new car at the end of the episode was probably the biggest smile I've ever had during a Mighty Car Mods episode. I was going to crack a joke about you two actually being Mighty Car Wreckers, but Isaac seems like a damn worthy destination for such a heavily modified car that's engineered.

Watching moog this whole challenge you couldn't help but have the euthoria of thinking "Got I loved my old bug, should of kept it".
Then she breaks down when you need her most and just like a slap in the face you remember why you don't own one anymore. And that Is why i thought the series ending was perfect

I was totally ready to watch the MR2 dominate the moon buggy. But then I just felt bad for Moog.
But now I'm happy for Isaac
I have a GT4 ST205 and 25 years on they are absolutely amazing cars, we were on a road trip and on the right road we were pestering an R8 and an M3. Absolutely the best car I have ever owned, love the thing it really is awesome! Sad the buggy died but I am glad the MR2 lives on and will continue to live on!

Totally missed an opportunity to merge everyone's automotive loves! Moog's love for VAG and Marty's love for Subarus along with the shared passion for boost! A big boost, boxer powered buggy would be insane! But cool that Isaac got it, nice work guys that was a fun mini series!!!

Ms. VAG looks like a proper race car with you two pushing it, like an endurance car on the starting grid. Acceleration looks incredible; there's too much grip to spin the tyres. The morning-dove sound Mr Poo made leaving Haltech was really nice. You'd get a dusting of soot and sand everywhere driving the lady on public roads.
That was super nice of you dudes. I was expecting it to get an ej engine for a future episode but handing it off to a real vw enthusiast is just as good!

The MR2 drifts better than i thought it would. Marty was the heavily backed favourite but good effort by the Buggy. Isaac is such a humble guy helps Moog out wanting no recognition. Well deserved getting the Buggy dude.
