My father died because of being under insured. In 2010 no less. He had espophageal cancer, and they had found the correct treatment and had him on a path to remission. Our insurance company found that he had told a doctor in the early 90's that he smoked. He hadn't smoked in 15 years, but they still refused to cover. We were forced to move to a far less equipped but cheaper hospital and he died 2 months later. I think the 45,000 a year stat isn't as daunting as saying that 750,000 people have died since 2000 because of lack of access to proper healthcare. I loved my father dearly.

Even without the Australia example you can just look at our homicide rate and deaths by gun homicide and realize we are a huge outlier and that any country that has banned guns has a much lower homicide rate, now you can say that "oh well they have less crime" but the difference in crime isn't enough to completely account for the differences in the number of deaths that the us had, and I think that many people would argue it is the leathality and relative ease of access that makes the US such a hotbed for mass shooting compared to so many other countries.
How was this allowed to continue beyond the first few minutes? It was unequivocally clear from the get go that this was a one sided debate. Razorfist got undisputedly obliterated. He didn’t offer any facts to back up his claims; he just parroted right wing talking points, used anecdotal material, and called it a day. In comparison, Kyle had all the facts and statistics to back up his claims and accurately refuted all of razor’s claims. It only got worse for razor as the debated continued lmaoo
Whoever you agree with, this is vastly superior to the Presidential debate we saw this week.

I'm starting to understand what people say about debate being useless after I saw that. Debate is only useful if both people are willing to be reasonable. Trump is just a constant bullshit firehose. It was kind of funny but mostly sad before Corona. Now when we actually needed him to be sane it isn't funny at all. Karma might have caught up to him, as much as I hate that concept. I don't understand the aversion to wearing a mask except "fuck you freedom" but hopefully that will change now. I doubt it but we'll see.

Honestly I don't think there would be a whole lot for sargon and kyle to debate. I've been watching both of them for years and they seem to have essentially the same beliefs, it's just that Kyle focuses on the right and corporate democrats which makes him seem more left wing whereas sargon focuses more on the far left and Islam which makes him seem more right wing.
I think it goes with his philosophy of not liking how debates tend to precive both sides as equals. Razor was a bit looney, a little cringy, and pretty incorrect on many thing but he treated Kyle with much more respect.

When I was 14 I had a really bad stomach ache that wouldn't go away so my mother took me to the emergency room. Within 5 hours I was in surgery and getting my ruptured appendix removed. Healthcare in Canada is dope.

Had the exact same experience when I was 7 (in Ontario). As my parents were self employed, this would have cost them a fortune had we lived in the US without an employer-provided insurance plan. Fortunately, that was not the case and I was treated immediately in a great facility and by amazing doctors and nurses and my family did not go bankrupt.

Lordlittletoe q I think it is absolutely okay to force people to pay taxes to pay for other peoples education and healthcare. What is not ok is forcing people to pay taxes and using it to bomb random civilians all over the world in the name of "freedom".
Basically everything is some kind of force. Private stores forces me to pay for the things I buy, why is that okay but government "forcing" me to pay taxes is not ok? The fact that the government forces you into something does not mean it's a worse type of force than if it's a private company.
We have to evaluate force in terms of if it's beneficial for society as a whole. Where the force comes from does not matter.

Kyle isn’t the most polite debater (His demeanour is a bit rude, laughing at his opponent, using curse words etc.) but you can’t let it distract you from the fact that his points are backed with solid evidence and what he’s saying is correct. I think his brash way of talking makes Razorfist fans think he lost and is being insulting but I have friends like Kyle who are rude when you debate them cause they’re passionate and have very little filter or care for what people think of them. While I respect Razorfist’s composure in this debate, I can’t help but think it comes across as the typical “1v1 debate me in the ring bro, marketplace of ideas” edgelord
Razorfist can remain composed and this is the same with a lot of his ilk, because he doesn't really care about the argument or the subject matter. He's someone who can go and say that Trump is a good president with a straight face.

Ben Shapiro loves to say faces over feelings but I honestly don't think I've ever seen someone use their emotional feelings towards something as a way to try and argue their pov. When something happens that offends him the calm intellectual mask slips and he devolves into a tantrum. I've noticed this is a common pattern with all these conservative commentators as well. Not saying the other side doesn't do it too but with them it's so much h more noticable because of how arrogant they like to act.

When Shapiro has a crowd, the biggest applause he usually gets is when he insults someone for not being well read enough, or when going to his always win position of, "I believe in morals" those morals are religious based, and his arguments often end up being "your wrong because my religious ethics say the Supreme Court is wrong, and the laws are wrong". Then when the law matches his viewpoint, he says, I was a lawyer, I believe in the rule of law. Shapiro is a great debater and public speaker, but when the topic is one such as abortion, one that is polarizing because of religious reasons and "I don't believe the science" on one side and then "science has stated this" on the other side. This is a very simplistic breakdown of what I like and dislike with debates, and Shapiro's style vs Kyle's style, but I've already typed too much, so I'm sure no Shapiro fan will agree with me.

Disregarding their actual ideologies, I think the real difference in the way Kyle and Razorfist debate and a huge reason why Kyle won I think is that Razorfist uses singular, anecdotal examples while Kyle uses actual statistics.

Nothing worse in a debate than someone who has clearly put far too much effort into their vocabulary and not nearly enough into the thoughts they've chosen to articulate with it.
I was impressed by the comfort he had with the advanced words he used, because he didn't say much with them. But then I realised it was probably a planned speech to a large degree, because that breaks down well before the half-way point and he begins to sound like a normal person that's ignorant on everything he's trying to debate.

I'm not sure was that for me but I personally don't think of that as advanced vocabulary, at least not in the same way as his opening speech (or speeches? I forget now). His opening contains a lot of actual political terminology as well as phrases like the above, to the point where he sounds like an impossible person. It reminded me of the way I used to write poetry when I first discovered Thesaurus.com in my early 20s. There's a reason I stopped doing that -- in my early 20s. Whereas the above phrases you've cited remind me a bit more of the way I speak now (though I strive to produce at least some sentences worth having spoken, which is a step he seems to miss regularly).
Edit: I watched the beginning again, and I remembered it being more florid. I think that was because he was using some of his advanced vocabulary in really awkward-sounding constructions and used some of them wrong.
