Somebody on another site- video, brought up how much Neill earned. Also as a BBC host. maybe he should consider that even if the pay is good there it is not comparable to the news station in US. Neill earned in 2014 i think about 7 mio pound. His salary he say s higher than theresa mays . Highest paid BBC anchor earns about 450.000 Pounds. Try and compare to the Fox new and CNN anchor, its a factor near 10 times. Rachel Maddows is estimated for a salary of about 7 mio Dollars, Chris mathews 5 mio, Hannity 36mio. And as far as i know Neill isnt an anchor?

We always act as if Europe and the US are similar politically, but realistically someone like Trump would be placed somewhere around the Nazi party in the german political spectrum and treated as a fringe occurrence, maybe get around 1% of the votes.
While someone like Angela Merkel is viewed as pretty left wing in the US, even though she is a right wing conservative in Germany.
In other words. Center right in the US is considered extreme right in Europe.
And Center Right in Europe is considered extreme left in the US.
Also, the US holds high the free market, while Europe views the social market economy as common sense. I am not even aware of any European party, no matter how small, that questions the idea of universal healthcare in Europe. But in the US thats a mainstream position.
Also, opinion journalism in Europe, at least in most parts of Europe, is a rather niche thing, usually confined to a a quarter page in a newspaper. On TV there aren't any opinion guys like Tucker Carlson or Hannity.
Whats more popular in Europe are debate rounds, where there is 4-6 guests from across the spectrum and a moderator and then they talk about a topic for 1 or 2 hours.
Media in Europe also has the benefit of publicly funded media giving a contrast to private media outlets.
One of the reasons why Americans hold so many wrong view, like climate change denial, is because special interests, like the fossil fuel industry, can just spread their propaganda in the media.
At least in Germany I have never seen a media report presenting the views of the fossil fuel industry without adding the fact that they are wrong.
While in the US you have entire channels working hard to protect the profits of private businesses.

Some media/journalists have it (Norbert Häring, Heiner Flassbeck, Nachdenkseiten), mainstream media has ads from car, insurance, finance and energy companies instead. What is media supposed to do in your mind? Write that government is going to do a new law and government representatives say "it's a totally great law, so great"?

but when u take a minute to think about it, it's a really cheap shot, first there are multiple reasons that the census bureau could say that, i mean they might be staying together just to keep up appearances, don't want to lose out on a divorce, or maybe they're rich enough to afford distractions
but Ben purposely worded it in such a way that the guy would question his source and he could slam him with it afterwards (so he could satisfy his fragile ego by humiliating the guy with a facts don't feel about your feelings narrative)

There's lots of annoying things they do but Corbyn is one of the most historically unpopular candidates for Prime Minister in the history of the Labour Party. One BBC interview didn't do that to him. It's also more and more common for ministers to avoid interviews that will cause them problems. Often interviews are terrible, I agree because they often try to get the person to say something awkwardly and therefore create news, which isn't journalism in my opinion. But Corbyn is far from some brilliant politician. Most labour supporters imagine that people didn't vote for him because 'they didn't like him' but it's because the more left you go, the more likely for economic catastrophe. Centre left is fine. Centre right is fine. Either end of the spectrum is usually a nightmare, and Corbyn represented that, and everyone is not interested.
