    Hallelujah man👍🏻 just seen this. My late father taught me the only knot I’ll ever need, your noose knot and I use it to this day. However I’m Norway fishing next week and started to question my knot against 3 turn uni, this video is just what I needed, confirming my old man was right. Tight lines 🎣

    I was struggling with my 150lb hook length knot for congering. Looks like 3 turn grinner is the winner! Thanks dude 🙏🏻🎣

    Excellent. One of the best videos out there on how to tie with heavy Mono. Here in the states some guys call that the Centauri knot.

    My go to knot is the san deigo jam knot. Learned it tying on to 6/0 7/0 circle hook 100lb fluorocarbon for big yellowfin tuna. You can also double the line and get a double san deigo jam knot. Never failed.

    Welcome to a figure of eight knot, your Noose knot, not heard it called that.
    Heavy mono, and multi strand wire/Carbon coated wire traces, been using this simple knot for all my heavy shark traces for over 30 years.
    Saw it originally from a Devon Charter skipper, who used it not surprisingly for his heavy mono conger traces.
    It is a great simple quick knot for tying any diameter mono or wire line used in your traces attaching any kind of links, lead links, hook snoods, swivel links, and ofcourse hooks themselves, never failed and all lve used for years.
    Well done on showing this in an easy done and presentable way.

      By the way lve never liked the idea of crimps, is why lve always tyed my wire traces especially, with the figure of eight.

    I use 100lb hallow core with 60 lbs mono top shot. Back to 100 lb fluorocarbon. I'm getting big marlin in Mexico all day!

    This knot will be ok on pulley rigs for tope off the shore with 250lb- 300lb mono? I'm currently using wire and crimps with a Flemish eye

    Hi m8. Thanks for this. Loads of reviews say the PALOMAR KNOT is the strongest for mono. This may be true on lighter lines but i don’t feel it’s true for line 100lb +. I am fishing in thailand and regularly use a 100 or 120lb mono leader. I go with a 4 turn uni knot and make sure you pull the back out of it on the sinch up. If I try to do say an 8 turn or 10 turn uni like I would for braid no matter how hard i sinch it down the back of the knot will eventually start to unravel. When it comes to heavy mono and uni knots less is more. What’s your thoughts on PALOMAR KNOTs and bigger mono?

      I love the palomar to. But only on lighter lines. I fish in Hawaii. 60 and under I tie a palomar. Over 60 I do a 4 turn uni also. 👌🏼🤙🏼

    I tie a loop blood knot for my 20/O & 24/O strait and circle hooks... but I also run 700 to 800 yards of 500lb braided and a top shot of 300 yards to 200 yards of 200lb to 500lb mono top shot. But thats shark fishing from the beach... ha

    Hiya. Is it possible, or of any advantage, to use a Flemish eye with a uni knot? I'm only using 100lb mono so I'll just be going with the three turn as you suggest. 👍🎣

    600 pound mono!?! What do you fish with that? Does that go on a reel or on a machine winch? Very interesting!

  • @metubewot
    @metubewot 3 роки тому

    is the 600lb mono to enable it to withstand damage, as even handlining you'd not break 300lb? Just wondering, as I've never fished for big game fish, and normally fish 30lb or so. It seems overkill.

    • @colsoncustoms8994
      @colsoncustoms8994 2 роки тому +1

      You can easily pop 30#, granted it’s a workout and your rod, reel, terminal tackle, etc. have to handle it. I’d assume a good bit of 600 vs 300 is abrasion resistance.

    Your fishing videos are fantastic, thank you...I think the knot video would be much more helpful if shown from the "knot tyers" view, my brain struggles to reverse what I am looking at...making that loop looks so simple, but with stiff 200lb mono with a mind of its own, I am not getting it...
