    Another excellent video. I have been watching your videos while recovering from covid, they really have helped to keep me going. Its good to see you putting lots of your catch back in the sea and only keeping what you like to eat. Your knowledge is amazing, and your sea legs, well enough said! I have been out of Padstow on a couple of boats for Bass and Mackerel and a friend and I had a boat in Swanage Dorset which we would take out as often as we could as I live in Hampshire. It certainly improves the chances of catching something good and different species. These days I only have time to do a bit of fishing from the rocks and beech when on Holiday down on the North Coast of Cornwall. I find it very relaxing even if I don't catch anything, there is always so much to see and hear. As I like eating Mackerel and Turbot which I have often caught then one cant ask for more. I guess I'm easily satisfied. There is nothing nicer than to catch prepare and cook and then enjoy eating something that you have managed to do yourself!
    I will be looking at more of your videos and thanks very much, keep safe and enjoy your fishing, it really is an education to watch, and perhaps some of the anti brigade should have a look too, they might get some proper education. All the very best mate, and cheers!

    Excellent videos, I stumbled upon your site by accident some hours ago and I'm still here! Used to sea fish years ago but never was much good at it, your videos have sparked my enthusiasm to give it another go! Also, very pleased to see you wearing a life jacket, too many people don't bother and risk drowning in even shallow waters (try swimming in water-logged clothing, you CAN'T!)
    Keep up the good work bud :)

    • @TheFishLocker
      @TheFishLocker  2 роки тому

      Thank you and welcome to our channel. I agree 100% about life jackets and really do encourage people to wear them. Swimming in clothes is very difficult like you say, but swimming in very cold waves in clothes is near impossible. They don’t weigh very much and they can save your life!!

    Just a thought... If you attach the drogue from the front of the boat you would drift less as the cuddy will not be acting as a sail.

      And the filming? The wind being behind the camera? What direction would the fishing lines be going? You see all of what I do is usually for a reason.

    Glad you explained how long you were out there, when these vids are edited it looks like you're dragging them in one after another! I don't feel so bad standing there for hours now.

    • @TheFishLocker

      I have started to explain in simple terms how long I have been fishing. I always say in relation to the tide so you will know if you work it out. For example a full tide is 6 hours. So when I say I have fished all of the flood it means I have fished for 6 hours. 👍🏻

    I thoroughly enjoyed watching this, it reminded me of when I was a youngster like you out in my boat, yours certainly shifts with that big motor, I had a little inboard diesel in my boat. Very wise to come in with that sea building up and the cost of lost tackle. When I did most of my fishing, in the 1960s I sold any surplus fish to the local fishmongers, this more than covered my costs. A pity that you can't do this nowadays. Looking forward to the next video and Jim's cooking one.

    So quite a while ago, I watched your tutorial on net weaving, to make a crab pot. I made my own hoop net out of rebar (for concrete) and tied all the netting for it. It was a long journy to completion, but rally worth it. I spent a total of $35, as opposed to $85 for one from a local shop.

      Whitby isn’t what it used to be. Years of overfishing does that sadly.
