  • I bet you didn't know you might want or need these! None of us like drilling holes in the front bumper for a license plate, but what about the rear? The rear actually doesn't have holes out of the factory but the dealer uses course threaded screws to make holes in your bumper to mount the rear plate. These holes won't last forever! Tom M'Guinn created these special 3D printed license plate mounts for the rear plate section of your late model Porsche so you don't have to drill holes or make your current ones strip out over time.

Interesting to see, here in Germany they normally ask you which number plate holder you want, with screws or with tape. Porsche should really fix that for you guys.

I don’t get how these are only for Porsche and not universal?

You are right, the ones I installed are u overall but some Porsches have specific ridges at that area.
Also, other brand of cars are setup with permanent installation points rather than just holes bored in.

I have a 2020 Buick Regal and I could have used these. There was no holes so my salesman used the screws to make holes to mount the plate.

Thank you for the great content. I have ordered my license plate mounts from Tom. But I have a question. Did you spec the navigation system on your GT4? I saw your wireless car play video. I’m wondering if you use car play in your GT4. What is your experience like? Did you decide to not get the navigation? I am currently spewing my GT4 and would
    Love your advice.

I skipped Nav and only optioned CarPlay! The wireless CarPlay dongles work really well! I’ll have more videos on my wires CarPlay and wireless charging setup in the next few months. However, remember that if you want to use the Porsche precision track app you have to option navigation. Sport Krono won’t do it alone in the 718 and I’m still not sure if you need sport chrono along with navigation to make it happen.

@@JetFuelOnly I was hoping my question would spark an idea for another video. 😀. In your earlier video the wireless Dongles didn’t seem to perform well. But you say they are working well now in the GT4? That’s good to know. I just can’t decide if navigation is worth it just for the track precision app. Sounds like a cool toy but of course I am not sure how much I would use it in practicality.

Yeah updates have them working better than that year old video. Even in my Cadillac it’s great.
If you track a lot the Porsche app seems cool, but for $1k so does the Garmin Catalyst. However the Garmin unit only gets GPS data not steering/throttle/brake input from the car
