This, combined with the medkit below the stairs, and the fear of stairs... I knew something had happened, but I thought it was entirely an accident. Edit: It was actually a picture of the violin, but I remember I also slowed down the second jumpscare, with hell Mari. I think I connected everything together and figured out Mari was dead.
I figured that Sunny killed her, but had no idea how to connect the dots as to why, or how it looked like she was hanged or anything. It was just a gut feeling. But man, I had no idea how Basil was involved, and the part with the staged suicide messed me up.
I tough that Basil killed her since he's always saying "will you forgive me, my best friend?". Honestaly at the time of the truth i was asking myself what the hell is wrong with Sunny until the omori fight, the omori fight made me finaly understand Sunny

the photo at 0:10 gave me such a panic while playing the game. The pure power behind that one image, revealing Sunny pushed her, just destroyed me. Even more so because we knew Mari's death wasn't a suicide and because Sunny didn't mean to accidentally cause her death, so it just makes the reveal much more heartbreaking...

if anyone is still confused or maybe might have misunderstood here is the actual information that i have (you can correct me since I'm not 100% sure) it was somewhere near 12Am, you have basil's perspective of what happened to mari's death, basil heard a noise, he checked what's happening, he saw sunny's violin on the bottom of the stairs broken, sunny and mari is fighting about the last recital, sunny isn't ready for the final recital as mari wanted it to be a perfect song together and sunny is being forced to, sunny is too tired and stressful, mari grabbed sunny as to go to the music room, sunny refuses and accidentally pushes mari, mari fell down the stairs full of blood and basil stood there in shock, sunny comes down as he called her sister mari... but there's no response, sunny and basil carried mari to sunny and mari's bedroom, sunny tried to wake up mari. but there's still no response, basil knew she's dead, basil tried to help by covering sunny's murder, they both took mari at the hangout spot near the treehouse, they tied the rope and hang mari and created a lie.

Sunny's father left because he didn't saw his own son the same anymore while his mom didn't leave but still couldn't look at sunny the same thats why she makes excuses to always be busy. She never told the police as she didn't wanna lose sunny as well

Sunny was so affected by what he did that he didn't realize what was going on That's why he created OMORI and all that colorful world to escape from the truth

Like, i get the murder was an accident, and he truly didnt intend to hurt her, but the hanging? That's just messed up. Mari's friends (and not the ones in sunny's friend group) would probably still think the commited suicide, which, ya know, IS NOT GOOD. There's also a chance where the mom knew too, and covered for him (realistically, this could be the case, but the creator could just not have considered this, idk). God this twist is just so crazy dude it’s such a huge change to the story and the game really makes you think that mari committing suicide is the big deal when that isn’t even true and sunny and basil have been dealing with something so much worse for the whole game
Some people dont realise rhe reason sunny hurt her, you can see when she hits the floor and in the next memory sunny walking down you can tell he was terrified by the way his body is, and we all know Sunny/Omori to be emotionless and so he intended to get her out of his way but instead she twisted the wrong way he intended and she died. he was in denial that it was his fault so basil offered as a witness to the incident to help him cover up the evidence and make it a suicide scene. And that is also why through out the game sunny/Omori is just wearing black and doesnt have any colours. and the "dark space" saying hiding up it is referring to him hiding up the evidence and thats why Basil can see it and is in it potraying the stranger I think. please correct me if I am wrong Edit 1: I just realised, he had to play Hangman to go to the black space which is the place Sunny tried to get rid off she he doesnt take blame of ending off his sister. Now to an average person you might say so what? but the black space was created because of the death, he tried to get rid of it by framing the death as Suicide by making it look like she hanged herself. So the fact he has to play HANGman so we know what happened is crazy, the devs of this game deserve a round of aplause.

if i'm not mistaken, sunny didn't think that mari was actually dead at this time. instead, he thought her not responding was a sign that she needed rest. hence the carrying to the bed.

For those who don't know the answer - he was in fight/flight mode and desperate to escape Mari yelling at him, also probably in shock from throwing his precious violin because he didn't understand why she was yelling since he did everything for he (indicating his brain isn't working fully because the logical answer to why she's yelling would be because he threw his violin), he was panicking and reacting and not fully capable of thinking without using his calm down skill and that gets a hundred times worse when Mari fucking dies ( there are removed captions for these photos that explain more but the gist of it is Sunny did not think “hmmm I will push my sister down the stairs”, he didn't think at all)

There weren't any actual pictures taken during this sequence, it's merely a byproduct of the developers intent for you to piece what actually happened together slowly and to simultaneously present it in a format the player is already intimately familiar with (photo albums). Moreover, why is it that you expect a 12 year old to know when to stop a fight? Some people dont realise rhe reason sunny hurt her,
you can see when she hits the floor and in the next memory sunny walking down you can tell he was terrified by the way his body is, and we all know Sunny/Omori to be emotionless and so he intended to get her out of his way but instead she twisted the wrong way he intended and she died.
he was in denial that it was his fault so basil offered as a witness to the incident to help him cover up the evidence and make it a suicide scene.
And that is also why through out the game sunny/Omori is just wearing black and doesnt have any colours.
and the "dark space" saying hiding up it is referring to him hiding up the evidence and thats why Basil can see it and is in it potraying the stranger I think.

I just realised, he had to play Hangman to go to the black space which is the place Sunny tried to get rid off she he doesnt take blame of ending off his sister. Now to an average person you might say so what? but the black space was created because of the death, he tried to get rid of it by framing the death as Suicide by making it look like she hanged herself.
So the fact he has to play HANGman so we know what happened is crazy, the devs of this game deserve a round of aplause.

if i'm not mistaken, sunny didn't think that mari was actually dead at this time. instead, he thought her not responding was a sign that she needed rest. hence the carrying to the bed.

@@mao_kott7437Sunny was in fight or flight mode which made him throw the violin, his fight or flight mode was compounded with shock after he threw it and then got a thousand times worse when Mari fucking died, both of these things make people's brains not work like normal people, he thought the whole thing wasn't real until they finished hanging the body which is why his Something trauma image is Mari hanging from the tree not Mari dead at the foot of the stairs - actually do not assume that any of the three people featured in these photos had fully functional brains due to stress and shock (like fight/foight mode and shock are physical 5ings that make parts of your body literally not work)

Why did sunny push her?
For those who don't know the answer - he was in fight/flight mode and desperate to escape Mari yelling at him, also probably in shock from throwing his precious violin because he didn't understand why she was yelling since he did everything for he (indicating his brain isn't working fully because the logical answer to why she's yelling would be because he threw his violin), he was panicking and reacting and not fully capable of thinking without using his calm down skill and that gets a hundred times worse when Mari fucking dies ( there are removed captions for these photos that explain more but the gist of it is Sunny did not think “hmmm I will push my sister down the stairs”, he didn't think at all)

(This is just my theory, don’t be mad) So basically, Basil didn’t stop the fight and just took photos? That basically means, Basil is the reason Mari died. He could’ve stopped them from fighting, especially near the stairs. Then, Mari wouldn’t have blocked Sunny’s way and sunny wouldn’t have pushed her down the stairs. And it was Basil’s Idea to hang her. So basically, Sunny shouldn’t really be blaming himself, because it’s kinda Basil’s fault.
Y'all are on some mental gymnastics down here lmao. There weren't any actual pictures taken during this sequence, it's merely a byproduct of the developers intent for you to piece what actually happened together slowly and to simultaneously present it in a format the player is already intimately familiar with (photo albums). These are all from basils point of view, but you can see very clearly in the reflection where he is *carrying Mari* that he is not using a camera.
Moreover, why is it that you expect a 12 year old to know when to stop a fight? You act like he's a grown adult and they're his kids, but people his age are all likely prone to emotional outbursts they can't control, so expecting him to be prepared to deal with one and have the foresight to know something would go wrong is pretty fucking stupid.
