Honestly, I’m happy she was able to realize that this was an accident. The amount of people who thought that a 12 year old purposefully killed his older sister and yet clearly feels awful about it and has been wildly traumatized to the point of becoming a hikikomori and hiding the truth in basically happy crayon drawings for 4 years, is exhausting.
And he obviously loves her a lot. You wouldn't do that on purpose to someone you love so much, especially as a kid.
There were times when I hurt my siblings when we were younger out of anger but I didn't mean to do it. I was just so angry at them. I quickly feel guilty about it afterwards. I was just a kid.
Yeah, honestly if I was stressed out as he was and Mari tried to grab me… I shove her too. (When someone starts to walk away, just let them.)

If I had been in Sunny’s place, I probably would’ve done a similar thing. In an argument I would be afraid of the older, bigger, and probably louder person yelling at me. If someone tries to grab me, I push them. Simple. I would’ve done the same thing
Basically, he was acting out of fear, not hatred. It’s sad to see people think he killed her on purpose.
It’s our duty as Omori fans to eat up all content related to the game, and watch as other people feel our pain

I like that you pointed out Jaiden used “I” terms rather than “You” terms. In my run I actually found myself to say that too. During the final battle when Omori says, “YOU killed her.” It’s almost as if you are Sunny, the game tries to get you to feel like you’re Sunny. In return you’ll find yourself to say I more than YOU when describing the player character.

I like how the game lets us collect each photos separately and out of order and we put them in order, seeing the sequence in multiple small pictures until in the end the game makes us flip through them one picture at a time until the last one.
it's like Sunny is remembering bits and pieces of it, only for him to remember it clearly in order at the end.

The suspense is really good it kept me thinking what happened each time a photo was revealed I got chills. The way how their faces are hidden in the photos and stuff, the story is really well revealed

9:49 something about this that I want to add. We normally want to relate to the person we were playing as. So that’s why we use the first person a lot. But when they do something bad, or we learn about something bad. A lot of times will switch the 3rd person because we no longer want to relate to them. I think that clarifies it more than what i originally said

that happened to me when kris from delatrune slashed toriel's tires. they're not really the same thing in any way but its interesting.
I think it's a mix of that and the fact it was outside of your control. The character did that on their own outside of you and your input, forcing them to acknowledge them as their own character.
I sorta did the same thing when I played this section and streamed it for my friend. I said "my bad Mari" when i realized what happened lmao
This is interesting to note. I just rewatched when I played it on Twitch, and the whole time, I was using we/us pronouns. I think because personally, I relate the player character to the whole audience? Or possibly I relate to the player character and me together as one being essentially in a way? I know I do this with other games where the MC is not mute or anything. Saying We instead of I, or referring to the character as Us instead of their namesake (though I do, of course, use their names sometimes. I did notice me referring to Sunny himself, without it being because of a dialogue box.

this part of the game makes me cry, the way jaiden described it was funny so i went from crying to laughing to crying to laughing to crying and laughing
watching people reacting to "The Truth" is always fascinating.
some would immediately blame Omori for planned murder.
some would immediately blame Bazil for planned murder.
others would be confused and slowly piece it together.
some just stayed silent for most of the section and piece it out at the end.
and some cried for most of the section.
I finished the game last night and all I can say is that- let's just say I just started theorizing and ended up bawling my eyes out instead out of concern for everyone's mental health.
I honestly was too shocked to react at first, but I ended up crying a lot later. These poor fucking kids deserve the world.

I find it odd some believe Sunny "murdered" Mari, when it'd be manslaughter: an attack _unintentionally_ resulting in someone being killed. Murder would be Sunny pushing her with lethal intention. He just wanted to leave, she wouldn't move, so he forced her to. And she _did_ ...
...Just not in the way he expected her to.

9:49 Honestly, I did the ending a few hours ago when I was writing this, and I did the same thing as Jaiden for the most part. I mostly used 1st person pronouns, but unlike Jaiden, I every now and then did 3rd person. Despite me not being Sunny, I still mostly said stuff like “I killed her,” and “It was my fault,” and as I went further on, I basically only used 1st person.
I've been seeing many people saying they did this and honestly yeah same, but i have little to no idea why.
i guess we can chalk it up to the game's genuis immersion.

@@novathesnowcone It was the photo dream Basil drops at the very end of the prologue, the one right before the cut back to White Space.
The photo only flashes on screen for a split second, but I glimpsed the bottom of a staircase and something in a heap on the floor. Basil says "Mari is....!" right before the cut, so I was like, "oh, it must have been Mari at the bottom of the stairs, we probably pushed or tripped her and she died"..... just given the kind of game this was, it made sense.
Though I WAS wrong about the heap being Mari, the thing in the photo was actually Sunny's violin I think.
When I played, I never went "he" did this or "I" did this. I always said "we," and I'm not sure why
"they make us want to stall to know the truth" I ran through this whole thing knowing exactly what was about to happen, right from the start I KNEW Mari was dead (when she knocks on the door and it showed the Dreamworld version I was like "that's not Mari" and didn't open it)
I knew this would be uploaded soon lol. I never played omori, people always said "oh it emotionally wrecked me" or "its horrifying" and i thought they were all being babies since the game isnt that bad up until you learn the truth. I was up at night thinking about it lmao

I’d say that when he reaches the stairs at around 5:15, the music sounds like it’s this very abstract rendition of the white space theme, with many notes surrounding it. It’s this mix of like, familiarity, with a small bit of relief and yet unfamiliar. It’s also interesting that the familiarity brings relief, since the theme is associated with both white space and Mari, the truth and its repression. It’s this comfort that in the moment is way better than trying to figure out the truth.
I always interpreted it as the truth haunts you even in the safest place - like repression just makes it worse! After all, Mari's memorial photo is in Neighbor's Room itself, Mari's hair hangs down from Red Space whose function is to repress the truth, and the duet plays in the Neighbor's Bedroom BGM!
I already knew the truth before playing but this is still a really impactful twist. However, I do have one problem: how the hell did sunny and basil get her up that tree?? I KNOW neither of them have any upper body strength and Mari aaa older and bigger than them while they were like, 12. Seriously, THAT is the real mystery in omori.
Basil likely stood on the toybox and used the branch as leverage. He probably threw the rope over the branch and lifted her that way.

First of all, plot guard. Second, it is thought that, under extreme conditions, the human body can acquire a lot of strength, enough to even lift a car (I saw this somewhere on the internet where a mother lifted a car where her child was under bcs of an accident)
She probably uses 1st person while talking because she changed sunny's name to hers
At 9:50, the reason she probably sticks to first person is because she named Sunny after herself. I did the same when I played, and it hit different than it would have if I disassociated myself with keeping it as Sunny (omori moment)

When I first played I thought that Mari survived falling down the stairs and actually did kill herself, and basil just found the camera with pictures after.

You might wanna find another playthrough of this game because there's a lot that happened.
But yes, you do eventually find him in the dream world. Just.. not in a good place. 😬
This part was in Night 3 I think. [Spoilers just in case you still want to watch another playthrough blind.]
In Day 3, you, Hero, & Kel went to find Aubrey and started getting along again. They went to Basil's but his caretaker said he was at the hospital because his grandma's about to kick the bucket.
So you 4 spent the day hanging out then went to your old treehouse at your backyard. But the tree stump where Mari "died" was there so you 4 reminisce about it for a moment, then went to the treehouse.
Then Aubrey ran out to the stump and finally admits why she started acting the way she is. She thought everyone was just forgetting about Mari but she just didn't realize that they were all dealing with their grief differently. She also admitted why she hated Basil. She thought he ruined the photos of Mari. (It was actually Sunny, but no one knew except Basil.) They hugged it out.
Afterwards, you 4 went to Basil's but he locked himself in his room so you 4 decided to stay over at his house to be close to him. And then you return to Headspace.
I don't remember though how you get to this nightmare part in the dream world. More happened after finding out the truth of Mari's passing but I don't wanna put them all here.
Yeah we find dream Basil. Here's what happened, and why he disappeared (spoilers of course)
Basil remembers the truth of Maris death, and Omori will not let him tell Sunny what happened. Omori is like, the personification of Sunnys subconscious, depression, and guilt over Maris death. His purpose is to hide the truth from Sunny.
You eventually find Basil in a place called Black Space, which is the representation of Sunnys fears and repressed memories. Then he dies. You find him again, and he dies again. He just dies whenever you find him. Then you leave Black Space.
But he comes back again, as you see in this video. And he can FINALLY help Sunny remember.
I like how she figured out Something was the representation of Mari's Silhouette before the game itself confirm it
jaiden is the fastest ive seen piece it together.
Seeing her reaction was a bit different from mine. I think as I was figuring it out I was using "I" instead of "he" or "you" as well. But I don't quite remember. I think I just realized after one of the earlier photos what happened and was delaying and crying. I truly understood Sunny hiding the truth and I was there too not wanting to accept the truth and could feel it crushing me more with each photo.

i don't remember Sunny being mad at Basil, and Sunny's memory was repressed by Omori so he doesn't remember the truth. just the feeling of guilt and fear with no context.
Omori kept killing dream Basil to keep Sunny from knowing the truth.
@@zetroll0372 it can definitely be interpreted that part of Sunny subconsciously hates what Basil did, which is why the secret ending has them smiling at each other implying sunny has forgiven basil and himself after coming to terms with the truth
from the photos we can guess sunny was very dissociated after what happened so basil probably did most if not all of the work involving the hanging
i hate i caught on to sunny and basil staging the accidental murder so early because it didnt impact me as hard as i feel it shouldve :/

What really got me on edge was that the picture at 7:49 it looked like he was smiling.
there is an alternate scrapped version of this photo where the lighting is different and you see Sunny's eyes. He actually wasn't smiling but appears to be dazed or in complete shock

Omori is an amazing game that I wish I’d played sooner, just finished the game a month ago btw.

Interesting that you bring up the 1st person perspective. I would have thought that more people would keep the 1st person aspect of it… I know I was sobbing saying “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry” the entire time. I felt responsible
I know it’s unlikely, but I really want her to do the other route as well. It’s just such a shame people only do half the game and call it a day.
but at least with hikikomori route, its extremely long and you have to replay most of the game to get it, which a lot of people just don't have the time for.
@@Wormilu As someone who plays and replays extremely long games to completion on a full schedule in a relatively short amount of time spanning about a week each run, it’s not that hard to do. Same with reading and watching shows.
@@calebgoodman3028 we don't really know jaiden's sched, but she prolly also takes time to setup the stream for the game, also probably working on animations and other work. those can be really draining and tiring motivation wise, i say she should do whatever she wants and plays how she wants honestly. i mean, i could always find another gameplay of another ending if i really wanted to.
it’s possible they play the other routes in their own time. i personally couldn’t imagine doing the hikki route live - i’d want to have time to process everything on my own.
@@ryeyumi I can see that. Still a small video on her thoughts of the other route would be enough. I still stand firm on the belief that people can always make time regardless of schedule which comes from personal experience.

If this is your first time watching omori gameplay, then it's not a surprise you don't understand the gravity of the twist. You should play the game to understand it.

Unused/hidden text for the photos in the code make it very clear what happens. But yeah Sunny threw the violin because he was really frustrated about the upcoming concert.
