Maybe not, since maybe Mari’s overbearing personality might have manifested another way, which could lead to the same thing, just without the hanging to make it seem like a suicide. Which would mean therapy, yes, but therapy doesn’t always work. ^^;

Ummm it’s not like that😭
I am so certain that Kel has ADHD. People with ADHD tend to struggle with object permanence, and not in the way that babies do. We understand that the thing exists, but out of sight out of mind. This 100% affects our grieving process and it can often seem like we move on too quickly. But then we get reminded of it and feel super guilty and angry at ourselves for practically just forgetting about it. It really sucks. Kel also shows signs of struggling to focus in school, struggling to actually get things done, RSD, hyperfixation, struggling to read social cues, impulsivity, mood swings, irritability, and so many other things that I struggle with because of my ADHD. And the only reasons I've seen people say they don't like Kel is always for one of those symptoms, and it honestly hurts. THAT is why Kel is my favorite character. People say he's the simplest character; just some himbo, but he's actually a really good representation of someone struggling with ADHD, and I think showing how a person with ADHD may process grief and loss is really important, because clearly a lot of people don't understand it.

As someone who has yet to get diagnosed with ADHD (not saying I'm 100 percent sure I have it) but relates a lot with Kel and fits most ADHD symptoms, god maybe that's why I immediately grew attached to Kel from Omori

Kel's treatment in the game just breaks my heart. It's like nobody but Sunny acknowledges how He feels about anything. Without Sunny, no one is there to ask

Yeah they relate a lot I remember someone said along the lines of Kel constantly lives within the shadow of his older brother being known as "hero's younger brother" instead of just "kel" which in reality is insanely similar to sunny as he is also just known as "the younger brother of the girl who offed herself" instead of "sunny"

When I saw Hero's messy hair in the night scene my brain just sort of snapped together a connection, along with the text. Kel talked about Hero not getting out of bed, not talking care of himself in reaction to Mari's death, and the messy hair is what finally brought me to the fact that in the dream world, Hero is always in his pajamas and multiple characters teased him for his messy hair and I don't know how to handle this right now 😀

The worst part is that the bad ending implies Hero has taken too much damage since his text changes to that of Basil's text when he's stressed out and at his lowest. He's never gotten past Mari's death and seeing Basil do the same thing he believed Mari did to herself was just too much for him. The difference between Sunny and Hero is that Sunny had always had this headspace of his mapped out and was able to take refuge in it, but Hero didn't have much to cope and fell into a deep depression and even after his argument with Kel, he had to pretend he was doing ok because he knew his family was deeply affected by his true feelings. Hero has so much bottled up sorrow and guilt, probably just as much as Sunny and Basil, because Mari loved him and he loved her, and to see her hanging, he believed he did something wrong that didn't warrant Mari to talk to him about her feelings. In the true ending, we could see Aubrey not forgiving Sunny for months or years, for Kel, he'd be able to feel sympathy and accept the events that happened, but hero? He could have relief that Mari didn't hide heavy feelings from him but even so, the girl he loved is now gone. Who knows how he'll react to the news. Will he find peace, or will he suffer another episode of bad depression after learning truth before truly finding peace and forgiving Sunny and Basil?
i can see him forgiving sunny, sunny was a kid, kid do stupid things, Basil how ever, i dont see Hero forgiving, as Basil was the older of the 2 and should've y'know done the right thing and called the police.
@@Crystal-dl9ks Basil is only older by like 4 months, and at the time they we’re both like 11 or 12 ( I forgor ) so I don’t see how he can’t be forgives to. They probably and most likely had the same mind and thoughts in that moment.

I feel like Hero realized that even with Mari gone, he hadn’t truly lost everything. He also knew that his parents weren’t paying any attention to Kel’s feelings at all and just because Kel didn’t show any emotion outwardly about it, didn’t mean he wasn’t going through hell too. Not to mention, Hero thought Mari had killed herself and it was a result of him not listening enough somehow and blamed himself. When nobody paid attention to Kel, well, what if Kel would do the same too? So happy on the outside, but could possibly be breaking apart and could end up disappearing too. Hero probably realized he still had Kel and the others to take care of to make sure they were okay and had the support, especially when he comes back from college and saves Sunny, talks to Aubrey, etc. That’s my take on it at least.

And while Hero starts getting better after that, his issues... don't go away easily. It can come back hard and push him onto the ground. It seems like he's still stable overall.

@@ortherner Physical trauma, not emotional... unless she could someone see everything in the afterlife, which would be kinda hellish ^^; Who’s to say she wouldn’t blame herself for hurting them all by arguing with her brother? She’d probs have quite a bit of time to think things through in the afterlife.

@@ivian8425 Given she fell down the stairs, she would've had a moment of psychological trauma before dying. Being shoved away by Sunny for some personal space, tripping on the first step (usually causes a shock to the entire bodily system before you even start falling) and then died once hitting the floor or breaking her neck on one of the stairs on the way down.
Regardless of if she broke her neck on the way down, or died on impact with the floor because of how she landed, she would have been alive just long enough for her to have sustained some form of psychological trauma. Not just physical.
If she could see the staging in the afterlife, then that's a mega oof

I absolutely love when people talk about how maris death affected hero and kel specifically because they seemed to be the best at hiding it and took up being support for the others. Kel because I relate to hiding your own emotions to help others, he didn’t deal with anything, just accepted reality and went straight to helping others and not letting himself breathe. He seems chill but still was affected, like a nurse who was shot but is helping the soldiers who are screaming in pain. Hero always had that “cool older brother” air to him and that would make him hide whatever he was feeling as to not seem “weak” to the younger kids. He’s meant to be the hero who people cry and be an inspiration to, but when he loses the only person his age he could confide in, he hid it all together.
I love too see how her death affected everyone differently, but kel and hero are the ones who stood out to me the most so thank you for making this-

My hc is that kel isnt “ok” and hasnt really moved on but wants to stay happy for mari, which comes from him saying to everyone “mari wouldnt want to see you like this”. He knows that mari wanted everyone to be happy, even if it was without her, and he decided to try to stay happy just like she would want, so he does things that he likes (sports and making friends).
@@angela-ue6pd I do agree that he wasn't okay and _was_ affected by Mari's death, but I think that wanting to stay happy for Mari mixed with his lack of understanding is what pushed him to be 'okay', or at least receive a healthy way of reacting to one's death. It's like a young kid whose relative has died, he doesn't exactly understand what was happening, but he knew it was sad and he doesn't want to feel that way. Yet as he grows older, especially seeing the difference between him and Hero, it sort of hits him like a truck and it slowly affects him, yet as he also begins to mature while his family life pushes him to be responsible now, he learns to find a healthy way of handling this pain.
He really deserves his nickname (even if it did come from a sandwich)
This video really made me realize that if it weren't for his family and Kel, I think Hero could easily have ended up just like Sunny did. The only reason he didn't was because of the support he had. But Sunny's support was his friends and sister, and now that he lost them all, he was able to spiral down and lose control of his life. It's kinda sad and hits even harder knowing Sunny never had anyone there for him to pull him out, well until Kel does years later. But interesting Kel is the one to help everytime, meaning, Kel is best character prove me wrong.

this is so incredibly detailed and i can’t imagine the dedication that this animatic must have taken. it shows in the final animatic and it’s extremely well done. i haven’t seen anyone else portray quite as accurately just how i see that trauma and their relationship afterwards, and you captured it perfectly. i love this so much. new favorite omori animatic

I see a lot of people saying that Kel hid all of his sadness and trauma and never stopped to really let himself feel them for other peoples' sake. Personally, I think that while that's probably partly true (he laughs off his own parents ignoring him crying and focusing on Hero in the graveyard and never really talks that much about how losing Mari hurt him) I think it's also that Kel is just pretty emotionally resilient (he's represented by the cactus and there are lots of references to its resiliency) and found good ways to cope, like making new friends and playing basketball a lot. He might be the most emotionally healthy member of the gang to me and that's what I like about him

The part where Hero was cutting his hair while "my time" is playing in the background and him experiencing the trauma again really gave me goosebumps. because the color, the music, and everything happening at that moment really mixed well. It really felt like Hero was back in his depressed/Traumatized state. Glad he somewhat snapped out of it
i think it just shows you how the grief never disapear, it always stays in the back of your head, reminding everyday of what you lost and all of your regrets, and grieving is just learning how to live with it
Some notes/analysis I wrote to keep me entertained during this whole process:
- In the first scene, I wanted to capture how each of the kids’ pose ties to their personality/involvement
• Hero naturally stands closest to Mari’s body, sort of being a shield to the younger kids. (In the panic attack sequence, it’s headcanoned that he’s the first to muster up the coherence to cut her down)
• Kel reacts secondarily to the other characters, focusing on helping Aubrey than choosing to dwell/focus on his own emotions as he does throughout the game.
• Aubrey has the most visible and physical reaction out of the bunch, sickened at the sight of her lost older sister figure. Similarly to how she has the most “outrageous” physical change four years later.
• Basil knows he’s guilty as fuck, u can interpret it as him “acting” but I think of it as physically holding his guilt in and bottling it up.
• Sunny, of course, like Omori is a blank canvas. He is just utterly defeated and doesn’t know how to feel, standing in a dissociated state.
- Kel sucks at hygiene n doesn’t know what the fuck flossing is
- I wanted to include the last haircut scene to convey how Hero “didn’t truly get better” just because of Kel. Of course, in realising the impact of his depression on his family and younger brother, he wanted to seem better but that only pressured him to suffer silently (like how he masked his panic attack), whilst Kel is blissfully unaware.
- in the same scene he has a regular ass cellphone bc i was silly n didnt pick up on all the context clues of the time period until after i finished the game after making this animatic LMFAO
• also I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a panic attack before, so I’m sorry if what I portrayed isn’t really rly accurate HAHA but I just headcanon that one of Hero’s everyday triggers might be hair strands/long hair.
- also also to clear up any confusion, the last scene isn't supposed to have implied s*lf-harm in it (if it did, I'd definitely include it in the content warning lmao) and I do apologise if it wasn't made any clearer!

I love these extra details, thanks for sharing! I especially liked your analysis of the poses. Yeah I think its very easy to think that 1 single event led to someone "getting better" when it really isn't linear at all! He might be "better" in some ways and "worse" in others even after all these years and that's okay. Again, thanks for sharing and for how much thought you put into the animation!
Also, I have had some panic attacks and it's definitely a range. Sometimes I do hyperventilate but not always. Anyway, I think you portrayed it fine and I think the use of colors was really inpactful.
Holy shit my guy, what a heart breaking animatic ;;_;; First of all, from the art standpoint, everything looks really solid, you know your colours and how they set the mood, the characters are drawn well and you really did well with their facial expressions!
Okay, wow, story wise, I'm freaking ecstatic. I really like how you interpreted the story inbetween the dialogues that Kel gave you in the cemetery. I can see how Hero is only keeping up appearances so he wouldn't worry his parents or Kel, I kinda see him as also being a perfectionist, wanting to be good at everything as if making up for whatever he might've lacked before Mari passed, working his ass off in extracurricular activities, attending competitions and getting trophies and wanting to become a doctor with the motivation to save lives, with the thought that if he just spends more time being more productive, not worrying others, everything will be fine eventually right?
But ultimately, this is all just a distraction from facing his trauma. He can't find it in him to visit Mari's grave, but he keeps up the appearance that he's not too wrecked by the grief. But eventually, when the memory of the day hits again, all that emotion bottled up will burst and he finds that he can't properly deal with his grief.
I also just began to realize that My Time is kinda a cursed song in the Omori universe lmao, I suppose it makes sense given the chaos and the duality between the happy sounding instrumentals and the cryptic lyrics.
Well I think I had experiences with panic attacks and I just started shaking, my eyes started watering and I couldnt help but cry, I lost my balance and staid still on the floor trying to not fall down.
Don't ask about the panic attack, I feel way better about it now

I'm aware that not all panic attacks feel/look the same, as I heard from my friends' experiences that their symptoms during are much more subtle from the outside than inside. The physical symptoms sound just as draining/terrifying so I'm glad you are doing better now!
The scene that hit the most was Aubrey throwing up to seeing Mari and Hero being hugged by Mari.
I swear Omori fandom has the most creative bunch and are here to make everyone not just sad but appreciate the beauty of the plot of Omori and to make people cry
this is so genuinely amazing. its nice to see people take the time to think about how everything effected Hero and Kel, since its not explored as much in the game as Sunny, Basil and Aubrey.

Nah, Hero has a lot of moments where you can see he's clearly still broken and forcing it down. You just have to look for them.
Like when you give flowers for Mari at her grave, this scene in the graveyard, what happens if you check on him after the scene where Mari ghost is playing her piano, etc. I do wish that Kel's experience was explored more, but I think it's natural for Kel to not really talk much about how much he personally misses her and hurts over it, especially since it's implied that he's healed for the most part from it.
I love Kel being portrayed as sad and not just an oblivious burger loving idiot, although I still see him as that
The thing is that Kel can be sad, but he can also both act as if nothing happened or learn to cope with it 'cause if not then Hero, Basil, Aubrey and Sunny would be alone in different ways, which I feel is a very common thing surrounding Kel's backstory; Being ignored and by that being left alone. To that add that he is the middle kid between an all 10s brother and a baby sister. Even with all of that, even with grief, Kel is still Kel, he still wants to be himself, happy and keep going because that's what Mari would've liked.
Everyone grieves in their own way. Some are not obvious, and some are. Kel went through so much… yet he still keeps smiling for the sake of others.

I love the fact that Hero's shadow is cracked at 2:27 showing how broken up he is over everything. Framed another way, it could refer to the break in his personality from the one who looks out for others to the one who is actively showing his grief and anger and scaring and hurting Kel. The attention paid to the details and the expressions is spectacular, and I love the art and the colors as well. The music timing is excellent, so what I'm saying is that this is outstanding in more ways than one. Thanks for making this, and I hope you make more art that makes you happy!!

Kel's and Hero have different views and perspectives yet both are still suffering, it must be so hard for Hero, imagine spending 4 years of your life thinking that it was your fault for Mari's death, thinking you weren't there for her when she needed it, and wasn't doing enough. He still carries on despite what has happened, but I can still imagine of him thinking about the incident It must be hard for Kel too, seeing your brother, in bed for almost a full year, its heartbreaking. Yet, despite all his failed attempts of trying to bring Hero back to his senses, he still kept trying, he never once gave upon his brother. Kel, without knowing, actually saved Sunny's life when he knocked on his door, he cares deeply for his friends, and he tries his hardest to make them happy. When Kel started talking about what happened to Hero, I started crying, Kel just wanted to make everything the way it was before, he deeply misses it

Ah, yes. i also probably stop dissociating over traumatic events of the game and else and say that I've also never seen such detailed animatic on this topic, Such emotion and an interesting take of the events described. Editing and a couple of cuts in scene and music at the start and end are really working for me. Expressions is really really good also and show as much as dialogues do, Incredible.

Late to the fandom but one thing I noticed is that Hiro ended up focusing on different studies instead of cooking which was one of his main aspects in headspace. Mari told him he should be a chef because his cooking was good and he wanted to at some point and it showed by the amount of cookbooks he left in treehouse but it probably was when Mari died when he stopped cooking all together. It probably hurt him so much to think about cooking again because it reminds him of Mari so much.
i guess its implied he ended up caving in to his parents' wants for him to become a doctor after his depressive episode. though he does cook for sunny and kel on the last day when you wake up, he undoubtedly took notice of how skinny Sunny is and wanted him to eat something lol

I realize that after the argument Hero got better and started doing more extracurricular activities/getting more into academics. But in a sense he’s just keeping himself busy so that he wouldn’t think about Mari’s death, the phrase “If I keep my body moving and my mind occupied at all times, I will avoid falling into a bottomless pit of despair.” really fits for Hero. Honestly I also do the same which is funny, Omori has made me aware so many more habits of my because I do be sad.

It''s pretty interesting that we as the player, follow the assumption that Kel was the least affected by the incident compared to Aubrey and Hero just because Kel does not really "show" his emotions when in reality, he could be suffering just as much as them. Sadly Kel was likely the most neglected throughout the years, even from his parents.

STANDING HERE I REALIZE-
This is truly phenomenal in every way, I love how you depicted their emotions during the fight, and how dialogue from the actual game was put in! Adding in My Time during that one scene in the animatic was a fantastic add on, I was really taken aback when the music began to play. Poor Aubrey though, she really *did not* react well to the body… Keep up the great work!

the fact that no matter what, kel would always be thrown away by the others because he “didn’t need help, he was doing fine” breaks me. even when basil (in sunny’s dream) shows his flowers, associates kel with cacti. “cacti do not need much attention, so does kel because he is always fine” that’s how, at least, how i read this specific choice
I don't know of this was intentional, but around 2:07 when Hero talks about looking out the window, his eyes vaguely resemble SOMETHING.
How did I not notice that until now
I love the fact that this didn't *just* feel like a re-telling of what Kel said at the cemetery. It took what was left to the audience's imagination, and pieced it together in a smooth animation. Kel bringing Hero dinner, Hero's harsh words towards Kel, Hero having a major panic attack at the end, all of that was never outright stated. It was creative, and felt more "real" than just a memory Kel tells you about.
So what I'm trying to say is: Props to you for telling the story in a clean, realistic, and very emotional animation. 👏
FUCK this is so good. I love(?) what you did with all the reactions to Mari's death being discovered. I comply agree with your reasoning for your headcanons in your comment, and... god, I felt a bit sick. It's so raw and visceral to think of everyone's emotions. Just kills me.
I know it makes sense, considering the time frame in which everyone found her, but like... there's something so terrifying about Mari's corpse just hanging there in broad daylight. It's so wrong.
God, it's so sad how Hero put himself aside, and didn't really allow himself a good amount of time to process Mari's death. It's a little unclear to me, in the game, as to whether or not his breakdown with Kel was his breakthrough to pull himself out of his depression and involve himself with life again, or if it was the beginning of his repression in order to remain operational. I'd like to be optimistic and hope that Hero worked through his grief, but I can't help but wonder if it really was more avoidant, like you displayed here, considering that he threw himself into his studies at an extraordinary rate, and failed to visit Mari's grave even once. It's just... such an awful situation for someone so young.
I'm not trying to say that Hero isn't a good kid at heart, because I honestly believe that of all the cast, and they're all very complex people, but part of me wonders if Hero's, well... "Hero"-ness was really a part of him because of Mari's influence. Despite Hero being the one with the big reputation to be the caring, conscientious one, I think he really had that instilled and encouraged by Mari, who had similar traits, and was always extremely enthusiastic to have everything under control, and everyone taken care of. Hero, on the other hand, while acting as the negotiator, could be fairly passive at times, like it wasn't really second nature to him. It makes me wonder if he was trying to learn to be as much of a social commander as Mari was. With her passing, he seemed to fold more into himself and focus primarily on his own achievements again, so I wonder if he just didn't have that drive to be a diplomatic, altruistic person, with her influence absent. That and, of course, the fact that grief can suck all the goodness from you. But anyway, this was a big thought dump. I love this to bits, and you got me thinking, which is always a good thing!

this is so well done! i feel that the game kinda glosses over how mari's death greatly affected hero and kel (minus the easily-missable graveyard scene with kel), it's nice to see content about it. so detailed, good job!!

That paragraph alone evokes real sibling vibes from them, and stuff like that has happened to me before, when you're a younger sibling seeing an older one cry or get really upset about something towards you hurts in a different kind of way
especially if they've never done it before or you couldn't ever imagine them like that because they were trying to set a good example

Duuude Hero’s flashback at the end got me so hard. Really hits home when you realise he was actually never able to process his feelings and went to throwing himself into his work instead

Sunny: completely devoid of any emotion
Aubrey: "ah fuck I shouldn't have eaten that taco bell-"

The entirety of this comic is beautiful but the last part is truly brilliant. I 100% agree with what you said about Hero not having gotten really better, just making the decision to bottle it up. Also it never crossed my mind how maybe it wasn't Sunny's parents but the rest of the group who arrived first and oh my God it's heartbreaking. Amazing work!!
I literally just finished the game two weeks ago and can’t believe how accurately this portrayed how I imagined Kel and Hero to be after Mari’s death, if not better than how I imagined. Especially the part where Kel said that Hero said some hurtful things to him, I could imagine that it went something along the lines of “you never loved Mari as much I did”. Although it’s not canon, I kinda like to imagine how Kel was impacted by Mari’s death, since compared to Sunny, Hero, and Aubrey who obviously didn’t it take it very well and expressed that through various ways, Kel was the one to reach out first and try to help everyone else cope. I like to think that Mari was just as special to Kel as she was to everyone else, even if not portrayed in the game, but his way of dealing with the tragedy was trying to distract himself with sports and new friends and act happy and carefree on the outside, while on the inside he felt pained and lonely. Unlike Aubrey, who seems to have been able to accept her new group of friends, Kel seems to really miss his old friends and especially Sunny, spending the entire three days with him before he moved, which makes me think that despite his energetic personality he was never able to feel as close with anybody else as he was with his childhood friends.
Kel really has it rough ngl. We see Hero and Aubrey’s grief up front and we know what is up with sunny and basil but it sees like Kel just kinda suffers in silence. It is clear that Kel cared about Mari but he doesn’t fully comprehend the weight of it. He is left in this weird limbo where everything has collapsed around him, so tries to move on. The Kel we see in the game is desperately trying to make things better somehow but doesn’t know how to fix things. In a way, Kel is the real hero of the story(ironic) because he keeps trying to get sunny out and is really the only one willing to step out if their comfort zone and reconnect. While he several times makes things worse and causes damage, at leas he is trying to make things better for him and others
This is super flippin good! The lighting and the faces look very nice and it doesn't just seem like he freaked out it seemed like kel just kinda talked up the wrong thing at the wrong time. And at the end when he was listening to bo en..you can't just do that that's too gooood.
This is why I like hero alot and I just. Wish we got more about that we only see it one of the few times and it's kinda optional. I'm glad people are making more kinda know about it.

@@Cinnavee Honestly nothing is perfect but I think this is good this is how sometimes kel acts he just does some things without thinking but that's not saying he's stupid he's smart sometimes even when he doesn't notice and the fact he has the determination to keep asking Sunny to come out..and it seems he still had it but more caring he was determined to get his brother better and you can kinda tell he knew he messed up after saying that. It happens to everyone like hero he suddenly started to freak out at kel at the sudden thing of thinking he didn't care for Mari when really he's the one who needs to learn to slowly accept it which even near the end of the game he isn't he still was and then..after when Sunny told them I'm sure he would be pretty pissed considering the lines you put show he was so mad that Mari didn't talk to her about this..but the fact he'll know now that there was a reason she didn't talk..she didn't do it on purpose.

As soon as my time began to play I KNEW Hero was going through it again. He tries to be strong for everyone when he lost basically the love of his life.
I'd always headcanoned that Hero didn't say anything when Kel started talking to him, until suddenly his bottled up emotions just burst out with his yelling, but I really like the more gradual buildup you gave, with Hero actually talking back, and Kel hesitantly saying more and more until Hero starts getting angry. Despite being in text only, that entire seen shocked me with how much it went against Hero's character, just seeing how much Mari's death affected him, blaming himself and silently blaming projecting that onto everyone else. Now see it in visual form... well, I think I'll try and be a bit nicer to my younger brother.

my worst nightmare
as someone who lost their best friend to suicide at the age of 11, I really relate to kel. it was like a massive shock. I couldn't process that my friend, my one and only best friend had just left me and id never interact with them ever again. of course I did cry after once I realised that id really never see them again but that was about 3 months after. I got called selfish and many other names as if I didn't feel the same pain and sorrow other friends and family felt. I still miss them. and sometimes I have hallucinations of them still being there. but after all that I've gotten therapy and I've gotten better since.
to those who have los someone or know someone whose lost a close one, everyone takes time. for example, kel and hero. kel felt the exact same pain as him but found ways to carry on. on the other hand hero took a longer amount of time to 'get over it'. even though you may feel the pain after, you still need to get up. you need to carry on. it takes time but I promise you'll be okay

Every time I watch this animatic, I'm mentally taken aback that it's 5 whole minutes. I get so immersed that everything feels like a flash before my eyes afterwards.
You did. So good. This is a wonderful work of art. It hits so close to home for me, as someone who has dealt with years of grief (albeit not because of death, thankfully, but I'll know that soon too, with a terminally ill father...).
These characters really are just children dealing with something most adults don't know how to process.
This is amazing. It's so detailed and beautiful! Also, I think they found her a different times. Hero said he got back in the afternoon and Kel and Aubrey in the evening. So, I'm guessing Hero was in shock just staring at her maybe? I have no idea what Basil and Sunny were doing. Don't get me wrong, this was amazing! I'm just wondering how the details fall into place.

I'm really glad that you acknowledged Kel's grief as well bc I feel like its really overlooked in the fandom and in the game. Just because he was able to "move on" so quickly doesn't mean that he didn't feel as terrible as Hero, Basil, Aubrey, or Sunny did. Some people like to hide or distract themselves from their emotions or strong issues and problems such as the death of a good friend, and I really believe that's exactly what Kel was trying to do. He was still grieving like everyone else, but just because he didn't show it or let the sorrow wash over him like the others doesn't mean that he wasn't grieving Mari's death. He loved her just as much as everyone else, and I feel like especially in the game everyone seems to forget that. Remember, grief takes all different forms- some people like to delve deep into work, or abuse drugs and alcohol, or spend their time curled up in bed and hiding from the rest of the world. All of these forms of grief are valid, and just because someone is all happy and smiles all the time doesn't mean that they feel that way on the inside.

I feel like it’s impossible to compare the trauma that they each went through. Basil, Sunny, and Hero all experienced guilt each for very different reasons whereas Kel and Aubrey went through a general loss of a loved one. They also all handled the grief in completely different ways so comparing really goes nowhere
This is literally the best Omori animation I’ve seen. Detailed images with detailed story telling that is a decent length to watch and not just a minute long comic dub… I love it!!!

I like the idea that Hero either has hallucinations of Mari at times, or has his own version of ‘Something’ following him. Probably not as often or as extreme as Sunny or Basil, but just occasionally the past slips into his mind. Same with Kel and Aubrey.
This is really underrated but also really damn sad. The game Omori goes over psychological trauma and fear itself and you showing more of Hero's side makes it even more interesting. I like how your also showing Kel's point of view and how the traumatic event affected him and his relationship with his brother.

I noticed that the creator mentioned that they'd never had a panic attack, so I'll try to summarize it for you:
Basically, you're really, really scared. You're scared but you have no idea why, you can't think, you can't cry, you can't be angry. You're wondering what's going on and why you're scared, Why things turned out how they did, but you're too afraid to try and answer any of those questions.
So, yeah, I think you portrayed it pretty accurately.
i wish i could put into words how good this is but it's literally just impossible. JUST.... WOAH. i'm in love with every little thing about this and i can't stop watching it !!
the coloring, the facial expressions, the backgrounds, the sound, the little things like hero and kels hand prints... gosh all of it makes this thing so darn wonderful. you created such a perfect atmosphere and i feel like while i was watching it i felt all the right emotions yknow?? like i genuinely feel like i connected with the characters for a second and i was holding in those tears LOL. i like the filled in bits of dialogue being there, made me feel so many emotions at once lmaoo
what's also rlly cool is that u even did this in the first place!! we don't see the effects of maris death just as it takes place due to the years that passed. and i think aubreys is a little more obvious (the changed look, the different attitude, etc) so seeing what kel and hero felt is just.... so flippin cool. hero was affected so much (considering he thought he could've done something earlier) and to me, kel is just kind of used to feel the need to hide emotion and just move on. the way hero mentions that as well - like holy cowwww! but both of them just kinda want to make things better and act as support. not only that, but being able to see hero lash out in a way the others wouldn't usually see him is so hurtful (in a good way haha) to see. and while this is happening just seeing kel make his attempt to "fix" things. basically, they both deal with things their own ways by themselves and seeing this portrayed so well is simply unbelievable.
i'm sure i repeated a few things or perhaps misunderstood a few parts but EITHER WAY - i love this SO MUCH!!! i'm about to cry like 50 more times while i rewatch LOLLL

That ending was 👌 showing him dealing with it every day and how while he’s moved on it will forever stay with him
my headphones do static noise whenever i move them so during "the fight" scene i just kept moving them and for some reason it made it a little more dramatic
