In this video we will show you how to clean car wheels. If your wheels / rims are dirty and they have brake dust build up we will explain what is the easiest way to clean dirty car wheels / car rims. If you do not clean your wheels often they will end up having lots of brake dust build up that is really hard to remove unless you use the right cleaner. We used Purple Power to clean the wheels on this car that has more that 200,000 miles on it and the wheels are like brand new again.

Can this purple power liquid spray can damage the coating or scratch the rims? I seen on the description not to use on wheels or rims? My wheels are like this on the video and I can't remove all that rust and grime and I'm tempted to buy the spray bottle but need to make sure it won't mess up my rims. My rims are the same look and color like the one on the video. Please let me know if this are safe to use on the my wheels
Just use any industrial degreaser - spray and wait a minute or two. Throw water and that’s it. I watched so many videos and this is the most effective, cheap and time saving.
This was good advice! My tires did not come clean as easily as you show - it took many applications and a LOT of scrubbing. HOWEVER, they had been dirty for years - worse than the tire you showed and I had no hope that they would ever be clean. I got the product you suggested, followed your instructions and now my car looks newer and better than it has in years! Thank you so so much.
A little pro tip I’ll give you is invest in a Drill brush attachment for your drill. You can use different bristles for your tires, carpet, tiles, anything really. I bought a set of 24 attachments for $20 on Amazon.

@@breaksk8r446 I used the black color aka the toughest one for a while on my tires, never had issues or breakdowns of any kind. I have switched to the medium brush just incase though. I think all the ones you can find on Amazon are around the same quality
Next time just use an acid remover quicker easier takes everything off tar dirt rust

before doing this you should rinse the wheels with water to remove sand and other stuff that can scratch your rims

I don't recommend purple power here is why , will damage paint, I used purple power many times to clean engine and I always add water like 60% PP 40% water, also will dry out the tire or any rubber, is very strong like acid. You will see it if is goes into your eyes or just skin.
I was reading the warning label, specifically says do not use on wheel rims 😂.

I bought Purple Power spray after watching this video and after it came in I see the very first line on the back of the bottle says “Do not use on wheel rims”
Not for rims at all, but probably ok to do a one-off deep clean for caked on dust and grease, with a thorough rinse after. I wouldn’t chance it more than once….

This did not work so well on a 2013 Honda CRV wheel set that has been kept clean except for maybe the last 2-3 years, 143K miles total. Secondly, the label of the PURPLE POWER CLEANER / DEGREASER states in the first sentence of the Instructions: "DO NOT use on... wheel rims". But I used it anyway because it worked so well in this video. But it did not work well for me today. Any suggestions? Simple Green worked better for these wheels with a brush, but not as easy and quick as you video.

Will this work if some rust and corrosion has settled on the wheel alloy?

I looked it up on Amazon and the product description said specifically not to use it on painted surfaces or wheel rims.
True, but it only damages anything if you let it dry. If you get the super strength spray bottle, ($6.99), all you have to do is spray the rims then rise quickly. Then I spray my rims, then scrub with a brush and immediately rinse with a hose. It really works well. Just did it today after seeing this vid.

For my bike chain I was told to sand the rust off and then put the WD 40 oil on it. That worked and sure same for this.

Dude!!! It specifically says on the bottle don’t use it on wheels or paint. And over time it will strip out all the polished look on bmw wheels. That’s what happened to my wheels. Now they look dull. How could you recommend this???

I was literally just about to do it and I read the directions and it's the very first thing it said was not to use on wheel rims so I followed the directions and didnt use and I seen this guy whip it out and I'm like oh great lol

If that cars done 200k I can guarantee you those wheels have been cleaned before. The wheels on my m3 look worse than that after 1 month

The first thing the directions say is DO NOT use on rims OR exterior parts of the car, glass and painted surfaces. It doesn't say it ONLY ruins it if you let it dry it says everything I said PLUS do not let it dry. Smh

All one needs to clean time,tires,n fender liners is soap n water. No chemicals required.
Although all his videos have helped me in the past especially with the bmws, this one didn. This is just overpriced degreaser. It didn’t do anything more than the regular degreaser did.

Problem is I want the inside of the rim clean to and the only way I know how to do that is to remove the tire/rim and scrub the inside.
Pressure washing does a little but still have to use old fashion elbow grease. Brake dust is a SOB to get off especially if it has been allowed to build up for years.
Bro you couldve done that with soap and water if you wanted too all you got to do is put some elbo grease 🤣

Yeah this just doesn’t work. My rims are very similar Toyota rims. No dirtier than the ones in the video. I sprayed and wiped five times. They look the same as when I started.

You could just use a power washer on a low setting and soap plus a little polish it’ll work just as good if not way better than “Purple Power”
