    I just wanted to let you know I followed your video series here on how to get your dog to walk on a loose leash. I have only been doing it for 5 days with my dog and she is already catching on so well. We can make it around the entire block with almost no pulling. I am also teaching her to sniff on command. She is actually paying attention to me and I am slowly spacing out how often I give her treats. Thank you so much for making such an effective and easy-to-follow training video!

    My friend I'm trying for two years on my male German Shepherd. I feel so bad for him because he is losing out on so many activities. 😏
    He is the first dog I can't train. I also think he's a scaredy cat. LoL.. 🙀

      I also have a German shepherd and he is my first dog ever. I don't use the leash because i trained him to walk next to me. I dunno what you are doing wrong, it's so easy to train them

      🐶 LoL...🤪... I have no idea what Im doing wrong. We had 3 G. Shepherd's none of those dogs gave us any kind of problem they were trained early on, by myself and my husband. He is also easily scared by anything. NO we never raised a hand or did anything bad to him. He was never left alone with strangers. He also is overly protective over us. I guess everyone has a odd ball in the family. 😂 He is 100% Pure ,we are still in touch with the breeder. Who can't understand the dog either they still have the Father,Mama and Sister. I'M SORRY I MADE THIS MESSAGE WAY TO LONG. BLESS 💞🕊

      Charlotte Đ this is a difficult skill for many dogs. You may need to start with very small and achievable goals.

      @@hidansektas You can't really say "GSD are easy to train". It all comes down to the individual.
      Yes, they are known to be smart and learn quickly, but if like in this instance their dog is very fearful, it can be hard to get that same focus if the dog is constantly being super aware of their surroundings.
      I'd start by working on building confidence before anything else, and then training will become easier. I speak from experience, I have a Tervuren who used to be super anxious all the time.

    What was the reason for using a soft sound instead of a clicker? I cant find where he mentions it

      Same! Would love to hear the reason

    • @AMHK1024
      @AMHK1024 4 роки тому

      My guess would be that he uses the soft sound to not overstimulate the dog. Having a soft, calmer sound likely helps the dog remain in a calm state to further prevent pulling behaviors.

    What if your dog gets bored quickly or gets antsy (I have a high-energy dog breed, the Irish setter)? I do play and exercise before walks at times. Should I think they are just being stubborn and do the routine you teach?

    • @TrainingPositive
      @TrainingPositive  Рік тому

      This is a tough skill - really takes a lot of time and patience. Just keep trying your best and change up the different exercises you’re working on.

    I just don't understand what to the rest of the walk, if you practice only couple of minutes a day/per walk? I mean, that means that the rest of the walk the dog is teaching himself how he wants to walk. Do you use retractables the rest of the walks? Do you only exercise the dog within fenced areas or so? I need to walk him, because we don't have a big backyard where he could get his exercise or somewhere to throw ball in relaxed manner. Can someone respond to this, please? Oh and also, who here is the lucky person and can walk all the walks him/herself? When other people take him out, they destroy all I teach him. Frustrations, frustrations ...

    What is the reason for the use of Martingale collars in these videos?

    • @TrainingPositive
      @TrainingPositive  5 років тому

      Jason Ford it is non-essential. You can use any regular flat collar or a well fitted harness for loose leash walking. It is helpful to be consistent with whatever you use so the dog can learn to respond to tension in the leash by moving in closer and creating slack (as shown in my tutorial on the basics of loose leash walking).

    If the average dog owner who works 8-9 hours every day is able to achieve the results you show with the specific techniques let me know...
    You also have a high food drive dog which is easily motivated but I don't like the way you use the treats.

    • @TrainingPositive
      @TrainingPositive  5 років тому +1

      So ant dog, do you also not like it when you don't get paid for your 8-9 hour work days? Every species has a currency, and food is biologically motivating for every species.... It all comes down to how you control your dogs access to their reinforcers, and developming good reinforcement procedures 🐶

  • @equitycolossus9536

    Surprise surprise. Once again, not a single distraction was seen in this video. You would think that this guy is training in some sort of post-human race apocalyptic zombieland where he and his untrained dog are the sole survivors. There is not a single distraction in any of your videos bro, except for the smells in the grass, which are no longer a relevant distraction for your dog because you train him in those exact same spots every single time so he has now become completely bored and uninterested in smelling the grass. So what you have here is Shamu in his tank at SeaWorld. Of course he's going to do the tricks to earn his meals because he and the human trainer are the only living organisms inside the fish tank. What do you think would happen if you dumped a school of fish into Shamu's tank during a performance? The entire system would break down and you would have a lot of unhappy Sea world customers on your hands. This is a joke, it is not dog training, it is extremely misleading and dishonest of these gypsy purely positive trainers to ped dle this sub standard product and pass it off as legitimate dog training.
    I challenge the creator of this video to replicate what he has done here at a busy shopping plaza or at the dog park with moderate to high distractions. Then we will see how well-trained his dog really is. I'm laughing over here thinking about what that video would look like... Over or under on it being more or less of a disaster than Zack George and his psychotic dog inertia?
