    You guys just saved me hours of headache trying to get this to work better. I totally forgot to adjust the threshold and was getting pissed my DSP was sounding like crap when it wasn't even getting a good signal to begin with.

    Always love your guys' content. My trusted local installer suggested the LC2i when I wanted to add a subwoofer + amp to my 2014 Mercedes E350, instead of a cheap LOC. He tapped into the premium Harman Kardon subwoofer to the LC2i, giving signal to an old Alpine mono amp powering an old Alpine 12" in a sealed box. Long story short, it sounded awesome. I was most impressed of how this setup played ultra-low bass notes.
    Currently, I transplanted the LC2i, alpine sub & amp to a 2019 Rav4, non-JBL system. The same installer tapped the front speakers to the LC2i. For the most part, the bass hits very hard. The downside is, it doesn't play the same ultra-low bass from the same tracks compared to when the system was in the Mercedes. I'm wondering why this is the case? My Rav4 has the OEM stereo/speakers, so there is no factory amp, and I doubt the OEM speakers have passive crossovers or bass-blockers. I also add that the OEM radio does not decrease bass signal as the volume is turned up, which is what AccuBass is for. I suspect that the OEM radio was designed to cut down ultra-low frequencies at all volumes to save the OEM speakers. What are your guys' thoughts?

    You guys are fantastic. I'm reviving my old system from high school and putting it into one of my daily drivers after years & years. 02 Chrysler 300M. JL12W7, JL 500/1 &...stock deck...yes I know. But its the RB1 NAV & its gorgeous. Anyways. I have the LC2i & the M's have 12 speakers in 9 locations or w/e it is wonderful Infinity system with a ~366watt OEM amp. *My Question is* can I splice into the wires on the OEM amp's wiring harness to run my LC2i? I'd sort this out myself but I realized at 1AM I had broke my big inline fuseblock for the power wire many years ago removing the system from the original 300M. -_- lol so its a "tomorrow thing".

    I am having problems with car audio system installation. I have a 2015 Dodge Journey R/T. It has a stock Premium Alpine Audio System. 6 speakers 1 subwoofer. I have an AudioControl LC2i LOC tapped into the stock subwoofer. I have the GTO in the bypass position, as I am using a toggle switch to turn everything on and off manually. Tuning the LC2i is fairly straightforward. Your UA-cam videos helped with that. My issue is with tuning my amplifier and subwoofers. I have an Alpine MRV-M1200 Monoblock Amplifier powering 2 Alpine DVC 2 ohm + 2 ohm SWS12D2 Subwoofers (trying to power anyway) wired in series parallel to 2 ohm final impedance. Correct me if I'm wrong on the wiring terminology. The RCA wiring is driving me crazy. When hooking them up I barley get any bass. Even after adjusting the Gain and Bass EQ. When only one RCA is hooked up I get better sound. Do I need both RCA's hooked up. I also noticed in your video you only had the one RCA hooked up when demonstrating the tuning process. I also don't know anything about the Low Pass Filter or where it should be set at. Thanks for your time

      1-If you only connected to one side of the input of the LC2i only one side out will work, Use a y connector out to your amp. I have found in most cases the thresh hold was off or turned all the way left counter clock wise. The Thresh hold was intended as a place for the accubass to start. I turned it all the way Right so its always on and adjust bass on top and accubass to my taste. I used my amplifier out from my stock sub woofer to the LC2i also, I connect the HL to the left side and used wire jumpers to the right side.to feed both RCA out. I just thought it looked better.

    Very helpful! One question does the sound quality make a difference if I tap the signal from the factory sub oppose to the front door speakers?

  • @poxcr
    @poxcr 2 роки тому +1

    I installed a JBL BassPro SL2 powered subwoofer on my 2016 Volkswagen e-Golf (non Fender audio) by tapping the front speaker outputs and connecting them directly to the sub’s high level input.
    I noticed the head unit output now clips at a much lower volume and it gets unusually hot. It is impossible to set the sub amp gain as the levels are all over the place and slight changes to the amp gain cause the sub to cut in and out.
    I verified the polarity of all connections on both ends and everything seems alright. I would assume tapping into the speaker outputs effectively lowers the impedance seen by the head unit onboard amp causing it to go crazy.
    Wondering if using an LC2i instead of the sub’s high level inputs would make any difference.

    Question for you guys.. I have a vehicle that had a Factory subwoofer, I have since added a component sub with a 300 watt amp and I have an LC2i which is getting the input signal from the Factory Subwoofer Wire/output. Now i have the accubase threshold turned all the way up and if i keep the Accubase knob and the Bass knob both at the 12 o clock position as a starting point this sub is banging like crazy I have to turn the gain on the amp barely up?? Is this correct or should I lower the Bass knob completely and turn the amp gain up?? I havent been able to find a good starting point for the LC2i when its getting an actual factory sub signal as opposed to it usually a full range signal.

    So in a 2018 Terrain with non-Bose I want to use a PAC LP7-4. I am adding a 4 channel amp for doors and a mono amp for subwoofer.I plan on sending the 4 factory high level signals into the PAC for the 4 channel amp and then just using the RCA output plugs on that amp to feed the mono amp.Will the mono amp be starved for low frequency because of the factory bass rolloff? Is the LP7-4 a bad choice for what I want to do?

      your better option would be the Audio Control DQ-61
      .Key Features
      :
      Signal Delay:
      Because of speaker placement limitations and the seating positions in a car, it is almost always the case that the driver of the vehicle is in an incorrect acoustic alignment. This exists because the driver is close to the left side speakers and further away from the right side speakers. Thus, the sound from the left side arrives much sooner than the right side. By delaying the appropriate speakers for just a few milliseconds, the DQ-61 is able to allow the signal to arrive at the same time putting the driver in perfect acoustical alignment.
      AccuBASS:
      To protect OEM speakers, car manufactures often limit the bass frequencies at higher volumes. AudioControl has developed a patent pending circuit called AccuBASS circuit to compensate for this factory roll-off. The AccuBASS circuit automatically engages at a preset volume level and reverses the factory bass roll-off to give you the music the way the artist intended it to be heard.
      Speaker Level Inputs with Selectable Summing:
      The DQ-61 is equipped with six high-impedance speaker level inputs that allow it to accept amplified signals from any factory installed amplifier, even Bose. Unlike an inexpensive passive line output converter, the DQ-61 offers the highest possible sound quality and performance
      .
      Equalization for Maximum Control and Performance:
      Like all of AudioControl's high performance signal processors, the DQ-61 is designed to offer maximum audio performance and control. All six output channels are equipped with highly accurate graphic equalization filters. This equalization allows for the taming of the most demanding car acoustical challenges or correction of factory radio response curves.

    Is the bass output of the LC2i full range or does it have a low pass filter on it? I noticed the higher frequencies on the RTA taper off when you switched it from the main to the bass output on the LC2i.

    Need advice, so I recently had 2 10’s installed, a bass amp, lc2i, and an extra battery to my 16 challenger 8.4 inch factory radio. The issue I’m having is that my two front door speakers seem to only have bass coming out of them, while the dash and rear speakers I can hear more clearly. Did the installer do something wrong? Bear with me here. I have an Acura RSX (Bose system) with an aftermarket Kenwood head unit that has a 5V pre-out. I’m replacing the old amplified, self-contained Bose spare tire subwoofer and replacing it with a new amplified, self-contained JBL BassPro Hub. I’m keeping the front factory Bose amp.
    If I’m thinking about this correctly, the front factory amp just carries a remote turn on and speaker level outputs to the sub (it doesn’t amplify the sub), so is it even worth it to use the lc2i from the front factory amp to the new JBL sub, or should I just bypass the speaker level outputs from the factory amp, and instead use rca cables from the 5v pre-out in the Kenwood head unit to the JBL sub?
    I’m not sure, but I don’t think it matters if I bypass the factory amp (and ditch the lc2i), because the subwoofer isn’t amplified from there anyway. Am I correct in thinking this way, or in my case, is there still a benefit in using the lc2i?

    • @bumpylump9236
      @bumpylump9236 3 роки тому +1

      Did you figure this out why it didn't clip? My guess is you reached the lc2i max signal. This is good news tho, you can now go full tilt on volume, just adjust your amps down a bit. Acu bass you turn right under half and turn screw on side down. Then turn radio up.....way up like 85% turn bass knob to like 25%, now turn little screw real slow. This os when the magic happen. Your little clip light. If you turn this little screw too far you can send a too strong signal to amp. Amps has voltage input limit. Look that up and don't go past that.

    Another excellent video Five Star Car Stereo! On the LC2i, do the Sub outputs put out a full frequency or just the lower sub frequencies? I'm trying to figure out if I can use the LC2i or if I have to get the LC7i. I currently have a 4 channel LOC that the rear channels pass through my sub amp to the rear channels on my 4 channel amp. +FACTION95 the bass channel is only for bass. It will only fix bass roll off as the volume goes up. It is not an EQ so it can not fix the DE-EQ problems of the factory radio. For that we use the LCQ-1

    • @iiishception
      @iiishception 2 роки тому

      When the light comes on means there is distortion. For certain subs they have tolerance for such. I have kicker comp c and tuned my gain to where the light comes on every 2-3 seconds. Mostly when there's a kick in the beat. The thing with distortion is that it's a form of DC current while speakers take AC. The voice coil in the subs is supposed to go back and forth. Too much distortion and it gets stuck in one position or the other which heats up the voice coil and detaches it from the speaker which is known as a blown speaker. So the point is that the light is distortion, but don't be worried just figure out if your subs is a quality brand that can take it. The light coming on every second or 2 second isn't anything that can damage it as it's not receiving DC current fully. Now if the light was on solid then that's something to worry about.

    You said the Acu base is almost like a "reverse base boost eq" my question is, If I tap of one of the 8" stock underseat subwoofers, to this LOC which will be connected to 2 12" subs. will the Acu base also restore the base curve to the 8" stock subs, as it it conected to the 12" subs?
    Hope you can understand what i'm trying to describe...
    Marcus.

      M Henry thank you. No difference just color.
      We just use the power coming from the amp, so there is no long run of power if you are going to run a power wire to the battery put a fuse at the battery. No it will not help the factory subs. They are before the LC output so the can not be helped.

    hello , I have a 2014 Honda accord with the lc2i running a rockford 150x2 powering a cerwin Vega mobile hed 400 watt 12 . after installing it and adjusting it to sound good I shut my doors and have a constant bass until I open a door then it stops . I adjusted it and turned it way way down and the constant bass stopped ( btw it wasn't a bass that went with the music and was way louder) . now when I start my car it gives 3 loud bass notes like a start up or I guess to let you know its on ? do you have any suggestions in how to get this to go away ? also do you have any idea on why it was giving a constant bass only when doors closed ?? thank you so much for any help ! and you guys did a very good job on video and very informative!!!! thank you

      I have a Honda Accord 2014 and do not have that issue. I used the GTO not a remote turn on. make sure the GTO is jumped to on, some that have it off and used another source of remote turn on from a fused accessory can get this. if you use a switched source make sure the GTO jumper is off. I Have also seen some by mistake put a 12V signal non switch into the remote, Another issue could be bad RCA cables they can short and cause a like issue.

    Does the lc2i need both left and right input if I’m adding solely a subwoofer amp ?
    Can I grab signal say from my right rear speaker or do I need both left and right ?
    Thank you for a reply.

    • @pedroc6823
      @pedroc6823 5 років тому

      in your case you do not need both left and right as long as you at least use the left because it triggers the GTO. it will come into play if you fade to one side only. But you can use a Y connector to your cables any way.

    Hey there so I don't have bass roll off so I turn threshold all the way up.. so what do i put bass on.. I notice my amp clipping a bit too soon so I'm assuming too much voltage from lc2i .. my lc2i accubass is half my main is off and bass is half.. gain on amp is half and premature clipping..

    • @pedroc6823
      @pedroc6823 5 років тому +1

      The bass adjustment setting acts like the input voltage or volume on your amplifier. They should have labeled it volume. if you have it too high and your amp too high of course it will clip. if you play a tone and have at least your radio 3/4 up adjust the bass/volume until the clipping indicator comes on, back it off until it goes off. Your volume of your amplifier should be almost off or all the way down. The unit is providing all the input voltage you need. Warning some amps cant handle such an input. . FYI, My small amplifier could not handle such a voltage of almost 9 volts. I ended up setting the bass volume at around 8-9 oclock. The main is only for additional speakers or amplifier , though it does improve bass also and the main adjustment is for the same purpose but for the main output only. if you are not using additional speakers it plays no role.
      So if you are clipping lower the volume on your amp, or if it cant handle the voltage of the LC2i reduce the bass /Volume to about 8 O clock and at most adjust your bass amp 1/4 of the way not half. One or the other could be up but not both. Good luck.

    Can the main output and bass output put out the same bass levels so if I were to put two amps in with their own subwoofer on each they’ll have the exact same sound? I don’t want one sub to have deeper harder hitting bass than the other but I do want each amp to have their own set of channels instead of splitting the rcas between the two amps.

    Hey any advice for setup? My Bose amp attenuates the bass signal up and down as your turn it up.
    Its making tuning accubass really difficult any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Example for the volumes vs bass below:
    Volume at 10% has like 70% bass
    Volume at 20% increases bass to like 100%
    Volume at 30% drops the bass to like 75%
    Volume at 50% drastically drops bass to like 50%
    Volume at 75% increases bass back to 70%
    Volume at 100% drops bass to like 60%.

    How do you set the gains on your amp with lc2i install.
    Thanks

    • @FiveStarCarStereoInc
      @FiveStarCarStereoInc  7 років тому +1

      That is a great question, we use the Smd-dd1 and also a O scope. With out those the best way is to start with the gains all the way down. Play a beat you know and repeats. Turn the radio up to the clip point. Start turning up the gain slowly you will notice a point that it stops getting louder. Turn it down a bit from that and play a couple more songs to check. Pay attention to any unnatural sounds that might coming from the woofers and turn them down or adjust the crossover.

  • @nibelungvalesti

    So..what do I keep my amplifier gain levels at while tuning my lc2i? Should I let me lc2i handle gain levels and not worry about amp tunes?

    • @pedroc6823
      @pedroc6823 5 років тому +1

      That is the intent of the unit. at one point I fixed amps and found that some amps Volume all the way down was like having it off. barley have the gain on the amp turned, at most not more than 1/4 turn or less. But some amps cant handle the voltage of the LC2i so it may need to be turned down a bit. Mine is set to about 9 Oclock.

    I have a couple of questions. I have a monoblock amp that I'm using to hook up my subs. Do I need to plug the remote out on the lc2 to the remote input on the amp? I'm confused by the remote in and remote out on the LC2.
    Also, is it recommended I splice into my rear 6X9's or would it make more sense to splice into my factory sub? Since I'm adding a monoblock and only want bass signal...

      The LC's remote out is there to turn on the amp if your radio does not have a turn on. You do not have to connect the LC's in to anything. Yes connect to your factory sub

      Yes, they don't want to replace subs all day. It is just one of the many problems you run into when interfacing with a factory radios. Keep in mind not all manufacturers do this, some actually just use better equipment.

    Do you have to hook up both left and right speaker wire to get a good signal? I saw you just use twist both positive and both negative wire together on the pac Lp7-2.

    • @pedroc6823
      @pedroc6823 5 років тому

      you do not have to , as long as its full range or a mono signal. But reminder . The left side triggers the GTO in the unit, as a minimum use the left side. I used the sub output in my car and used the left side and jumped wires to the right of the unit. Later I realized I did not have to but looks good.

    Hello, I have an lc2i installed in my 2011 bmw 550i on the sub channels from the factory amp, I have the threshold turned all the way clockwise and I'm still getting no output below 28hz. When I play a tone generator thru my factory stereo after I go below 30hz the bass starts to drop off, is there something wrong with my lc2? I tried turning up the accu bass knob and gain and it only makes the frequencies above 30hz louder but not below? Do you have any ideas? FYI I'm running an AQ 3500d to 2 12" FI ssd's in a 2-1 4th order, I have 2 batteries with zero gauge wire for all.

      Unfortunately in can not make up for the sounds your factory radio are not producing. It is really designed to fix volume drop off on the sub frequencies at higher volumes. You may want to look into an Epicenter if you want that fat bass sound.

    • @pedroc6823
      @pedroc6823 5 років тому

      yes it can they have two different roles. The Lc2i is mainly a line driver with bass boost. and the epicenter is a bass restoration unit that can let you restore a certain frequency and how wide from a center frequency. I can see this creating pretty bad clipping if not done right. If your amp has a bass boost like a 45hz, set up the LC2i first and add a bit of bass boost at that amp frequency. I always see this unit with all the settings set up too high almost 90% of the time.

    Hello, Can I connect the audio control at the same time to the speakers or i need disconected the speakers to conect the audiocontrol, change the impedance? because my speakers are to small and I afaird burn the factory radio outputs, congratulations for your channel , thank you

    • @FiveStarCarStereoInc
      @FiveStarCarStereoInc  8 років тому +1

      Thank you. You can tap into the factory wiring leaving the radio to play the factory speakers. The AudioControl can then go to give the aftermarket amp signal. You may want to get an amp for your smaller speakers. Then you can disconnect them and power them from the amp and actively remove the bass from them.
