    Just to make it clear. You state in the video that the 6015 suffix denotes the cubic inches. This is incorrect. The 6015 is the engineering basic # for all engine blocks. The over the counter replacement block would have the part basic of 6010 for a bare engine block. Where as the prefix c5ae again is the engineering assembly line basic number which would be a C5AZ in the parts book. The whole part number as an over the counter replacement would be C5AZ-6010-A OR B or C based on how many engineering changes were made to the product line. And it is possible to have an AE block in a mustang as the blocks were all identical and originally developed for the full size Galaxy and they were used in multiple lines. Even the HIPO block was the same with different damper, solid lifters, and bigger connecting rod bolts (3/8 i believe), beefier main caps, screw in rocker studs, hotter cam and dual point distributor. However on a 1967 it most likely would have been A C7AE. The fact that the block is stamped C5AE does not make it incorrect for a 67 as the number above it is the date the block was produced (cast) there was another stamping on the block or the engine which actually shows when the engine was assembled. So this particular block even though it was manufactured in 65 could have been sitting in inventory waiting to be assembled for a 67 model year which would have been produced in late 66 not uncommon to find that. Worked in the Ford parts department for many years if you're wondering about my source of info. Also have a few 60s mustangs as the original owners were my mother and father.

      Hi!
      I have D0AE on the engine block in my 1970 Mustang Mach 1. Would that possibly be the original engine? I'm trying to figure out if it's been replaced or if its original. Thanks for any info!

      @@itsryanfreeman you would need to find the production date stamped on the block. Some blocks may have the last 6 digits of the vin stamped on them. The D0AZ denotes 70 for the D0 the AE is the engineering letters for AZ which is for full size cars such as LTDs but were used in Mustangs as well on engines that were found across multiple vehicles models. If it was an engine specific to let's say a boss 302 mustang or eliminator Cougat then it would be D0ZE or D0ZZ for a parts department #

    Sorry buddy but There were no ZE 289 blocks. Since it's the same block as the 289 in any other car that Ford had a 289 in, there wasn't any need to complicate things and make seperate blocks for each specific line of car. It was also the same block for the 66 and 67 model year. No reason to change the number, since they didn't change the block. They were cast in Cleveland. Not that all 289 blocks for those years were that number, but that number was used in all 3 years and in every kind of Ford car that would have had a 289. Since Windsor didn't start making 289s until '66, the Windsor blocks for 66/67 started with C6.

      This is correct. The AE only means that the block was designed for a Galaxy, not that it was produced for a Galaxy.

      Note that the same block can be used for different engines. This video is only describing how to tell what block you have.

    Also your Vin number is stamped on the engine and transmission.

    What about the tag bolted to the top of the motor? Don't that give the same information as the stamp on the side?

    I sold fords in 1967 and you should knowThat the gentleman you bought the mustang fro may have been correct as to the engine being original to the car. Ford was producing mustang's so fast and the galaxie engine may have been used since ford galaxie was so bid most buyers bought the 390 cu engine. Also you should now that I found out when I went into the service shop on a non related problem with another Mech. The Mech' in the next bay commented while working on a 1967 mustang that ford was putting Galaxie engines into Mustang's. P.S. All manufactories did the same thing only GM got cought in 1978 butting Buick 350 into Monte Carlo's

      If it's a C90E, I would think it's a late 60s truck engine. You can check some sites like this to verify:

    with a B instead of the E in "6015 E" what does it mean? (6015 B)

    • @AmbiVe
      @AmbiVe  3 роки тому +1

      If it comes after the 6015, it's the location it was made. I'm not sure which is which, but between 65 and 70, I believe the options were Michigan or Canada.
