They hired Harvey Weinstein's assistant to run the show. This should be a dumpster fire.
Its set 100 years before the Phantom Menace and features someone with a red lightsaber facing off against multiple Jedi who can sense the darkness around them.
Yet 100 years from now the Jedi Council will drag their feet about Qui Gon's claims because quote "The Sith have been extinct for a millennia" (1000 years)
So I think its the casuals who are liking it and the serious fans who are hating it, and its not strange at all.
Well that’s kind of silly because I doubt they are just going to out the sith in the show. The sith were still active in the galaxy before phantom menace and had even killed Jedi. As a serious fan who loved the Plagueis book I think it could be very interesting. It’s likely Disney will make it a dark Jedi instead of Sith or have a Sith but no witness. If this is the reasons fans don’t like it they lack imagination when it comes to producing results.

Also, unless Sam Witwer is writing this I can't trust ANYONE in Hollywood to make a script that is accurate to the universe of the show. I'd half-expect Darth Vader to make an appearance these days
@@leafwhite6376 do you know how many times they don’t send messages in Star Wars. They often have plot reasons they don’t but it still happens. And if you’re hunting a Jedi killer and suddenly a sith comes out of nowhere and kills them all how would they get a message out. Also it’s likely they aren’t sure what they are fighting. The Jedi did not believe Maul was a sith at first and there are plenty of dark Jedi or force users they may use a red light saber and not be a sith. In legends and canon sith have done things and even killed Jedi without revealing themselves.

We dont hate disney. We hate the people who currently work at disney. Lets start with this.
Rian Jhonson. Her entire inspiration during this series is the same guy who made the last jedi. Now first the tangeant of rian johnson. This is the same man who got his position of that movie after drinking with a board of directors member at disney and saying "i wanna direct that movie" this shadow figure he talked to pulled all the strings and put him in charge of movie 8. After this. He called JJ abrams after telling him to not do anything with luke. Show him at the end not doing a single thing linked to the force. Holding a lightsaber. Nothing. JJ gave resistance and said "why would i do that" and he just said "im directing the next one change it" and jj said ok. However during the dumpsterfire of movie 8 being made JJ was told he's directing 9 told Rian to change things to make it easier for when he makes movie 9 the last MaRaySue. And Rian after that said "no im not changing anything in my movie idc" setting a double standard like his vision was better. Yeah so now if that hasnt ruined movie 8 for you already and enough and made you worry about how Rian is this things idol. Time to talk about the person running this whole thing

One thing I am confuesed and annoyed about is in the prequels they specifically state that it had been a millennia since the sith had been defeated and never seen from again and now they are making a series where the sith appear 100 years before?

Hahaha, are you really surprised that fans resist change? After all, being a fan of something means being attached to it. If you replace it with something completely different, of course the fans feel cheated. I was a fan of the old Star Wars, but in the times of Disney you simply can't watch it. Same as with Marvel: propaganda of one political party instead of good movies and entertainment. I'm a woman but I wanted to be like Luke Skylwaker. I don't need a Mary Sue Rey to feel good in my skin and like superhero movies. These new movies are just bad. The king is naked. And Disney is going bankrupt.

Putting aside creative writing to include the above things. No one likes it and it shows. Yet they still push it because companies like black rock loan them money to keep it going through ESG. It's pretty obvious with the billions of dollars they have lost. Sometimes 100s of billions. Sounds like an agenda to me. Just look into it.

At this point, star wars fans are looking for things to dislike. I'll give any new star wars a chance.
This show is said to have plenty of lightsaber fights but it breaks canon. The jedi refused qui gon's claim bdcause the sith were not active for a millenia. Yet a mere 100 years ago( while yoda was alive mind you) there were fights and signs of the sith returning.
Secondly i didn't even hear about this trailer and im already disappointed because theres nothing more to explore. This will add nothing to the story and reap no benefits. People who want more crap during the skywalker saga can't face the fact that the prequels, clone wars and the original trilogy cover just about all we can for that story. Minus unique stuff like force unleashed and jedi fallen order theres simply no room for more stories. Even in those stories they had to undo everything because we ltierally cant affect the main story. DISNEY. JUST GO TO THE OLD REPUBLIC ALREADY
I want the Old Republic but not under Disney.
Star Wars fans (the hardcore fans) are ticked off because Star Wars has been turned into a Political Agenda sending platform. Race, Gender, etc, are now the main focus of the Disney franchise rather than the story. The character is supposed to revolve around the story, not the story revolving around the character. The character adds to the story, not the story adds to the character.
Before Disney, Star Wars was centered around great stories. There wasn't any political agenda or need to add elements of what's going on in real life in the world today. It's the focus on making the story political that is destroying the story. Infact, it was one of the main reasons why Star Wars was so successful before Disney.
I go to that universe far far away to give myself a breather from real life, not to see real life pop up in political message sending antics.
I also like Star Wars for escapism, agreed. Feels like there is nowhere to go anymore!
Look man... have you even seen the original 6 movies? I like star wars when it's not political too that's why i love that first season of the mandalorian or the fallen order games. But the star wars movies, particularly the prequels, are inherently political. Listen to george lucas talk about how he based elements of the prequels on the george w bush whitehouse and the handling of the taliban, and how many of the aliens in the movies were based on real politicians. To quote the movie, the prequels were about how "democracy dies" and gives into a form of fascism that we see in the original movies that is also heavily inspired by many fascist regimes throughout history especially in world war 2.
@@arthand7672 George Lucas did this with grace and it was subtle to the audience. Today’s content is slamming it in your face and the agendas are at the forefront instead of the characters and their respective journeys.

It is one of the biggest flaws in the prequels in my opinion, i felt they tried way too hard to "say something" instead of delivering a good story. But hey, I agree with you that alot of stuff these days do the same thing.
@@arthand7672 I saw the prequels really as the story of Anakin and his downfall, I enjoyed the politics but I left it at the door so to speak, in the sense that Star Wars had its own politics and thrived on its own… but of course like you said there was influence for sure.

Here is the problem. Disney/Lucasfilm has completely let fans down time after time after time since they took it over. Lucasfilm has set the bar so low anymore that fans just hope it's not God awful but time and time again it has been awful
It's agenda pushes by her feminism views pushed into the movie where that's all its going to be about. No character development, doesn't look like any aliens in it, and as you figured she made sure to leave out white guys. But glad new star wars stuff is coming out. Just don't like showrunners not liking source material and how it needs to change. Sure change can be good if it's for more open storyline and character development but I have a feeling it's all about ideals instead what star wars is. Power of the rings fail, halo show fail, and many others in that marvel end that fail because of agenda pushing instead of wanting to create something for everyone and not just something for someone.

Having female leads doesn’t mean feminism that logic is heavily flawed and historically the original Star Wars saga across 3 films had 3 female characters 2 of which were on screen for less than 5 minutes and 1 was sexualized and then turned into a sibling because of poor writing so it’s about time there’s actual female leads a true Star Wars fan won’t look for problems within the story and saga because believe me every single film or episode has fundamental problems

There is something very off and cheap looking about it. I believe Star Wars needs to be back in the cinema permanently. Yes, Andor looks great, but it's an exception to the rule.
The other shows have looked very cheap. Dont get me wrong. The Mandalorian has looked good most of the other times you can really tell you are looking at a show.
The looks of lightsabers and choreography have been very off since Disney took over. Hayden was the best and looked natural in Ahsoka because he remembered Nick Gillard's training.
We need someone like Nick Gillard to be put back in charge of choreography. I want to see a Jedi movie where the actors train for weeks like Hayden and Ewan did.

I like the Idea of the acolyte but I don’t see how it really matters. It doesn’t add anything except older Jedi and how Sith are growing again. Ig the only thing it can fix is Yoda knowing the Rule of 2 in episode 1. Because what we know the Sith have been extinct for millennium since their war. But it wouldn’t make sense why they would introduce themselves in this time. Unless they really think they have a big chance to control the republic.
If I was the head of Star Wars which I’m not I would probably do a better explanation of Luke in his Jedi temple and how it fell with Ben solo falling to the dark side. And a better understanding of how Palatine came back. That will help the story of 7,8,and 9 better than what we have.

Anyone who watched that trailer and decided that turning Sith into the misunderstood underdog was a good idea immediately gets the dislike button. Don't pander to Disney unless you want to go down with the ship.
Well liking and pandering are two very different things. But making them underdogs is a weird take to me.
If you watch old movies from the 70s and 80s you will see a diversity push, but it was subtle and realistic. The way Disney does it is too much and too obvious. It makes you think of how stupid the writer is. If it’s a great movie, you don’t think of “who made this krap”, you get lost in it.

I’m gonna give it the benefit of the doubt. I’ve heard there’s gonna be pronouns and what not in episode 3. However I’m gonna look past that and see it through to the end. All I care about is a good story and if the story is good even with the pronoun nonsense then I’ll be happy. But if they butcher another story for wokeness then I think I’ll be done watching any new Star Wars for a while.
There's an argument about pronouns being a part of the woke movement. I think the problems with any agenda driven ANYTHING (left or right) is that once you give them an inch, they seek to steal miles. The big problem I'm having is that Star Wars is supposed to be this galaxy far far away about family, good vs evil, right vs wrong etc. George Lucas used the most simple tenets and philosophies to create Star Wars, and nowadays, as shown by Headland. Star Wars is in serious danger of becoming just another IP pushing a narrative, losing all of it's original purpose and identity.

I saw 1st movie as a kid and most everything since, but checked out as the characters and lore I grew up with so greatly changed.
Didn't even watch the final movie as I just didn't like what they did leading up to it.
They are obviously looking for a new fanbase, but it seems as misguided as the Bud Light fiasco.
It's entertainment so catering to your audience should be what studios try to do.
Kennedy decided starting a war with one of the biggest and most dedicated franchise fanbases in history was preferable.

my main worry is the fact it doesnt seem to be about what it was originally stated it was doing. When first announced it lead us to believe it would be about a young force wielder becoming a sith, following more the sith side or the lore rather than the jedi. And the trailers dont really give that impression.

Most of the earliest likes were bots Disney hoped would give them several days of positive marketing all it did was add a few more days before the few that could care enough to watch and dislike it over took the likes

I thought the trailer was interesting, Id like it better if the timeline wasnt so close to the original saga. The main problem is it doesn't make sense. How did this giant jedi sith battle happen and the whole gallaxy forgot about it. The Jedi were so certain the sith were extinct for a thousand years, a big battle like this only 100 yrs before the phantom menace is odd and will require explaining.
