Naw. The comic is the comic and the movie was a great adaptation. I'd rather watch a funny Mask show instead of a "Boys" or "Invincible" just anothrr blood bath. Blood is the new boobs of America.

If you think a bout it The Mask is a pretty ingenious character. Not only do you have the mask himself you can slowly explain it's origin but at the same time you also have the different characters he binds to an their creativity or personal influence they can have. There is a lot you can do with that.
I always liked that different people use the Mask for different reasons and while some may have good intentions initially, it eventually corrupts them and people either have to give it up or die trying to cling onto it.

@@Korsvejgaard Venom tends to stick to just Eddie and has it's own desires because the symbiote is desperate to rebond with Peter. The Mask has no complex motives or who is wearing it, all it wants is to cause chaos and have fun doibg it. Plus The Mask as a concept is supposed to be "How dangerous would a living cartoon actually be?" like in Who Framed Roger Rabbit or classic Warner Bros, Fleischrr studios and Disney era aimation.

The mask lets the wearer achieve their greatest desires. If someone like cap got it we would get superhero mask with pure intentions who could solve all of the problems humanity has
Not a bad idea but would make for a boring story since the whole purpose of the Mask is great all this reality warping powers at the price for your sanity and bringing out the id. It would be much better story if it follow the similar path of Kallaway but well fighting the avengers or something at the end instead. lol

Really I like the idea of Walter or someone like him that's basically deadly and hard to kill but maybe a bit more mystical to give more 'realism' like an angel or some kind of supernatural guardian that's suppose to keep the Mask in check/guarded.
Gonna throw this out there; can you do the OG Static comics from Milestone comics as well? Don't wanna sound greedy, but I know you'd do awesome bringing those comics "to life" in your videos too!

I hope he does the Walter: Campaign of Terror mini-series once he finishes the rest of the Mask. That's honestly one of my favorite Mask spin-off properties.
This is a far better sequel than Son of the Mask ever was.
This is the version we need in a movie man ... like a horror/violent/gory vengeful addictive bloodthirsty payback story that goes too far

I was thinking same. When reading it years ago
Personally I would love this. A R-rated movie would be the perfect way to go with this character. But in the end if it came out it would not work because people would start bitching about it being to violent, gory, bloody and with to much dark humor and not funny like the original, the saturday morning cartoon or the piece of crap sequel. A adult animate show like Invincible or Harley Quinn would be the best way to go if its done the same way exclusively for a streaming service because on TV it would suffer the same fate as an R rated movie. Look at what happened with the Spawn HBO animated show in the 90s, even though it was shown late night it was ultimately canceled because of stupid parents who thought cartoons are just for children.

@@ricky865 an adult cartoon version would work as well don’t get me wrong .. but I mean look at The Boys .. we are at a place now where you can show gory tv shows bloody disturbing deaths on tv ... and in the movies you can as well .. Deadpool? I believe you can definitely get away with this stuff in movies somebody always bitching about something so who cares .. and it would definitely be humor in a movie adaptation it would cross all genres if you ask me horror/action/comedy/drama/sci-fi/fantasy/thriller/ ..all in one

@@reborngreatnesss5712 They haven't made any Mask comics in about 10 years, the last thing they did that I remember is the Joker/Batman crossover, but I hope someday the character will be in movies or shows again

@@Death19993 I feel some live action are very restricted on what they can push just an animation series seems to work better Invincible looks like it straight out of the comic pages I definitely love to see the mask series done the way in original comic and even the teenage mutant ninja turtles deserve a animation couldn’t believe how violent it was in the original comics

I’m so glad he’s covering the Mask, for I long time I’ve heard how crazy and dark the comic was and I’m not disappointed.
Mask is one of my favorite characters. Imagine what it'd be like to have Toon Force in real life, that's what Mask is.
I watched videos from a channel that dubbed the entire The Mask Comic series. Now that Rob is covering it it's bringing back those memories. God the Mask is so dope. I loved the movie growing up and these comics made me love the Mask more.

I love this version of the mask isn't this the volume that inspired the movie they mixed the stories, I loved the outcomes of this arc.
24:30 was one of my favourite moments when I first read this. When Lionel takes on the mask with his fists and is about to get killed for it Kellaway finally wakes up. Notice the change in expression and the shape of the speech bubble; he's holding his beaten partner by the throat, stick of dynamite in his mouth and a lighter in his hand and finally going "Good god, what am I doing?". After that he realizes that the mask is the problem, pulls the stick out, cradles it and runs off before it explodes.
Seeing Kellaway redeem himself that was just so damn satisfying.
A Mask and Freakazoid crossover would be amazing.

I had this whole comic series on a digital game CD back in the 90s. Learning where The Mask came from was enlightening.
And you can see why they had to tone it down for a movie adaptation.
A gritty Noir world suddenly invaded by a toon God.
Those serious panels with that serious art as heavy contrast for the wild fantasy, beautiful.

I love the live action version of The Mask, but this really does make me wish we'll get something that more closely resembles the comics.
The Mask comic done by the people doing the Invincible cartoon would be amazing
I loved the mask movie as a kid, never even knew there were comics. It's not marvel or dc but I'm really loving this, and the way you break down the comics is a great way to catch up on the material. I personally would be down for you branching out like this more often.
I really like when you do comics from different publications you can bring characters that people wouldn't normally see that are just casual readers to the light
Ironically, Kellaway is almost as crazy as Carrey's and cartoon version Mask was.
His version did provide the inspiration for it. Instead of becoming a serial killing madman like he does in the comic, the movie/cartoon universe Stanley would borrow traits from Kellaway in the coming version to become a superhero or a cartoonish vigilante.

Imagine a storyline with multiple masks, that would be amazing
The cartoon did something like that. Stanley split the mask in half and lost the left half and was like "I bet this thing doesn't work." It works. The other half is found by his former highschool bully and he transforms too.
So you have two half Masks looking for each other with their hosts along for the ride.
Stanley Mask wants the rest of his face back.
Stanley doesn't want the mask in the wrong hands but also wants to reign in the Mask.
Bully wants power but later regrets it.
Bully Mask wants the rest of his face to let loose without being stuck with a coward.

You are straight on with that one. They did create different series focused on The Mask reaching from person to person and even different parts of the world from a groups of teens to a single father raising a traumatized daughter to a soldier dealing with PSD and depression and so on and so fourth. The Mask would usually come in a extremely bad time in their lives and the outcome usually depends on how the person uses the Mask itself. Mask was always a start of a domino effect that usually would have the consequences that would ultimately go back on the people who are wearing it, good or bad. There was even a series that came out just last year that basically depicted a mayoral candidate getting their hands on the Mask 20 years later after the original events of the first comic series onward took place. It was a political darkly horror comedic satire on Trump's presidency and how the mask ended up finding its way through power along with manipulating a lot of the public and voters to think the same kind of violent thoughts it was giving off through the president.
That sounds lit asf my dude. Lol you deserve the credit go make that for us and propose it to Netflix they be letting anyone make a show lol for a exclusive.

I feel a true to the comics, ultra violent Mask adaptation to live action or even animation would be perfect in a post Deadpool and Invincible world. There's a proven market for it.
110% agreed. As classic as Jim Carrey's version was, we've grown past the need of kidifying more adult characters to give them exposure to the causal audience.
@@Drums_of_Liberation I grew up with the Carrey version, but I've grown past that, and I also want the source material to be honoured. Ultra violent animation would be excellent, but I'd be down for something live action. I think you could get away with a modest budgeted live action film.
@@eon001 the only problem with live action is that Hollywood won't likely go all out because let's face it comic book Mask is far more violent than modern day Deadpool so it would have to be indie like the Revenge of the Mask fan films here on UA-cam. At least with animation you can get away with far more because even in the day with animated films winning Oscars, animation still isn't truly taken seriously and as such will still be overlooked. Hence why you will never see a live action Berserk much less a 100% accurate animated adaptation with full on Donovan and his three silver pieces.

I can’t wait for The Mask returns! One thing you should know Rob, is that the comic after Returns(The Mask:Strikes Back) is a lot different from the others because it came out after the success of the movie.

I love this story, the mix of comedy and gruesome killing is a new experience. Everything is just right with this story.
I think the Mask acts less like the Joker, and more like a standard old school cartoon character.
Replace the Mask with Bugs Bunny(minus the violence) and that's what you get.
