Edit: ALMOST always, i checked and the formula seems to not apply to weapons that weight over 20.0
I thought of it as, to two hand a weapon you take the original strength requirement divid it in half, the divid it in half again and add on the first number to the second and that’s how much strength you needed, so if it was 36 strength you would need 27 cuz 18 + 9 = 27. Keep in mind I was only 11 when I thought of this so it could definitely be wrong
@@chadthe_peacock94 two handing effectively increases your strength by 50%, so you can wield weapons with 66% of the required strength. Ex: if you want to use a weapon with 18 strength, you only need 12 to use it while two handing. This is why you never level Strength above 66, because that becomes 99 when two handing.

The Pinwheel fight being harder this go around makes perfect sense to me. Pinwheel was very obviously designed around the assumption that players might go after him very early. From a designer's perspective, the logic is sound: why _wouldn't_ players want to bum rush the boss to get access to more healing? (The answer, of course, is that when you're an experienced player, you often don't need the extra healing). In any event, the boss was tuned to be a challenge for low-level characters with low damage output. In practice, this didn't end up happening. Going UP to the Undead Burg and all the areas branching from there is far more intuitive. Especially since their alternatives are The Bone Zone (with endlessly reassembling skeletons and Wheel Skeletons) and The Ghost Zone (with enemies you can't even normally damage). OF COURSE people would put off going to these places until they'd exhausted their other options. So in a vast majority of playthroughs, people don't reach Pinwheel until they've already upgraded their stats and weapons to the point where their DPS outpaces the build-up of illusory duplicates. To the point where people just _assume_ that Pinwheel is a joke, by default. Rather than it being a direct result of how people approach the game. It's only when you get meme runs like this that you start seeing Pinwheel in the mode that, in retrospect, he was always intended to be occupy.
I always thought Pinwheel should get some kind of buff after beating O&S or placing the lord vessel. That way the fight is reasonable no matter if you fight him early or when actually going for Nito.
I fought Pinwheel after only beating Capra and Tauros Demon and he's still a joke. Weirdly enough, even a +2 or +3 weapon just does way too much damage to him. But the area is so much harder to get through period if you don't have that. Pinwheel is just badly designed along with the bone zone to me.
@@D_Abellus It's very weird, yes. The Bone Zone is a pretty tricky area, especially for new or underpowered players. When I saw the title of this video I immediately felt annoyance because, "duh, of course you can with enough time and practice." But then I felt guilty at having felt actual hatred for essentially no reason and for something that has no real effect on me. I allowed myself to succumb to a visceral, short-term anger, and I'm disappointed with myself. It's good to let other people do things the way they want to do them, and to let them feel comfortable doing so. Be excellent to each other, is what I am saying.
@@wedding2710 no I don't think it is. I think many people start to feel a sense of snide ownership for what they consume when they spend too much time consuming things other people have made, and unrightfully so. I think expressing and talking about these things is worthwhile because pretending you aren't feeling them, or worse indulging them, will over time make you miserable.
@@wimbusbert1249 I have trouble believing that it's at all common for people to feel "actual hatred" when the premise of a video fails to meet their standards, if I'm understanding what you're saying correctly. You seem to think that it's a widespread feeling, or at least a feeling that people other than you have held. Where did you get that impression? Have you heard other people talk about this feeling before?
@@wedding2710 yes! I have seen it many times in comment sections since I started participating in them ~2013. The example I will use is the channel Cracked, which had many cast members add to their talent pool throughout that channel's heyday. Every time a new face appeared in a video it was met with vitriol. The comments were flooded with hate and disgust that boiled down to: "How dare this thing I like change, even slightly?" I believe this gut reaction I had comes from a similar place as those comments. A result of too much sitting down, too much content digestion, and not enough remembering what I am seeing was made by a fellow human being, who has good days and bad days, as well as good ideas and bad ideas, and even further than that, ideas that mesh well with me and ideas that do not. Gamers especially have become well known as a large group of people addicted to rage and who flip out over essentially nothing, and I think it's important to stop ourselves when we find ourselves doing so, and to acknowledge it.

He also makes different challenges like this P. S And then you used an Elden Ring clip. I was trying my darndest to see how far I go by seeing the least put of a triple AAA Highly anticipated game. You did nothing wrong, just found it funny infact
If you upgraded your Pike to Lightning after fighting Ornstein and Smaug, you would only get a slight damage reduction (about 10-20 units), but gain stable elemental damage (to which most enemies in the game are vulnerable), great poise break and avoid having to apply a temporary buff and spend a HUGE number of levels for pumping intellect for GMW. Oh, and no need to upgrade your Dex for better scaling)
No that would have been a huge mistake. Like really huge. I would have had a massive reduction especially in the DLC and it would have been beyond useless against Gwyn. It would not increase poise break, which I didn't really have in the first place. And most of my damage came from my magic buffs anyway which add damage rather than split them. So those levels in INT were well spent. So no, I very very very much disagree. That would have been a grave mistake
@@PressContinue Look, I'm not gonna argue without any proofs) Gonna get some testing myself, than I'll back with specific damage numbers and data in general

On a more useful note, it seems the charge speed is unaffected by your equip load or deep water, whereas your actual run speed is. Unhelpful for you, but useful general knowledge.
Yo bro, cool ass name! 😂
I'm subscribing to you cuz I like falling asleep watching dark souls vids and your voice doesn't annoy me. Good content
It's surprising, but you're not even the first person who said that
Another great video! The pike is a very interesting weapon, glad you did a run with it. Keep up the great content!
i like to think the part at the end where he sais "qwen can kill you before you say" and then sais a quick paragraph after. he actually refers to the entire rest of the video in that quote.
49:50 is cinematic as hell, love it!
I like the cut of any person's jib that says owo out loud.
4:04 - Turtles? Those are dogs man...
Next thing you're going to tell me is that the dog pope in Elden Ring is actually a turtle
@@PressContinue I'm thinking I probably should've finished Elden Ring. I'm missing a joke aren't I...
My favorite challenge runner has returned to bless my feed and soul with another video!
Thank you good sir!
This attack reminds me of those little pike enemies in Wario Land 4. I now see their power was underrated lol
man is literally killing everything with a pie chart, madlad
10/10 love watching your videos man, i've only managed a bow only run so far on Dark souls remastered sadly haha, keep up the great work. :)
also love the addition of the trivia for flacid penis made me chuckle and replay that bit to make sure i heard right haha
Blind man assaults local village with walking device.
Always great content. Caught you live for a few of these fights for once.
Loved your vids, the dedication you put into it is just amazing! Congrats!
The greatsword black knight falling off the tower has happened to me a whole two times after god knows how many playthroughs
I try to replicate it every time now, to no effect
the "ironically very solid" joke got me GOOD
This challenge run is more like "Can You Beat Dark Souls While Making an Obscene Amount of Pike Puns?" XD
Dat jij dit wapen voor de hele run gepikt hebt;). Deze video is opnieuw een gem keep it up!!!
Ik had er uiteindelijk flink de pik op
i LOVE your play on words
Seath was actually far more likely to have soul speared Velka, not Gwynevere. I have no idea where the idea it was Gwynevere even comes from, it makes absolutely no sense and there's nothing supporting it.
That's actually a less disturbing image I suppose given that we no so little of Velka.
21:20 you really shafted quelaag
i did not know pinwheel could summon so many clones
When I saw the title of this video I immediately felt annoyance because, "duh, of course you can with enough time and practice."
But then I felt guilty at having felt actual hatred for essentially no reason and for something that has no real effect on me. I allowed myself to succumb to a visceral, short-term anger, and I'm disappointed with myself.
It's good to let other people do things the way they want to do them, and to let them feel comfortable doing so. Be excellent to each other, is what I am saying.
That's kind of weird dude
@@wedding2710 no I don't think it is. I think many people start to feel a sense of snide ownership for what they consume when they spend too much time consuming things other people have made, and unrightfully so.
I think expressing and talking about these things is worthwhile because pretending you aren't feeling them, or worse indulging them, will over time make you miserable.
@@wimbusbert1249 I have trouble believing that it's at all common for people to feel "actual hatred" when the premise of a video fails to meet their standards, if I'm understanding what you're saying correctly. Maybe I'm wrong about that, but what you described seems unusual and somewhat off-putting to me.
The comments were flooded with hate and disgust that boiled down to: "How dare this thing I like change, even slightly?"
I believe this gut reaction I had comes from a similar place as those comments.
Amazing, as always, can’t wait for the next streams/vid
Found your channel a few days ago and I've been binge watching all your videos since then ^^
Omg it's this guy with an accent again
“I don’t know what it’s based on, but at least it’s based” lmao
I dub the pike the stick of knowledge cause you learned so much during this run.
I'm not even an english speaker and I'm already in love with your accent
"No matter how I would lube up shaft."
Fucking hell! No shame.
I love it.
Wake up babe, the new Press Continue challenge run just dropped
It feels like they made sure the pike in this game wouldn't be strong in any way whatsoever.
Nah, it's a pretty decent weapon as long you don't use the charge
@@PressContinue It's not terrible I guess but there are just better options out there. If the charge was somehow fixed it would be an interesting weapon though.
Another punderful video, nice
The color change during the Artorias fight kind of looked like you went through the trouble of stiching the stream footage over some recording error
Yes that's where there was several seconds missing in the recording, so that's exactly what I did
@@PressContinue I really appreciate your effort :)
4:18 - 4:26 Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom in a nutshell.
Ohhh been waiting for this for a while now! Glad to see the video uploaded!
That spears of the church joke was pure gold 😭
cool challenge idea, you sure know how to pike em
I could have sworn you could sprint straight forward while locked on.
From DS2 onwards your movement was no longer restricted by locking on
@@PressContinue So I just popped open the game to play around with it for a bit, and for whatever reason, in all of it's Dark Souls 1 jank, you can sprint while locked on so long as your joystick is within about 45 degrees of due north.
I want to say something.
I think I remembered you, seen you before.
And I watched this video cause you put the bloodshield. Seriously I love that shield so much, hoped to hear if it was put in that cinders mod.
But despite this. I hoped you'll be doing well, you reminded me of The Backlogs!
He also makes different challenges like this
P. S
And then you used an Elden Ring clip.
I was trying my darndest to see how far I go by seeing the least put of a triple AAA
Highly anticipated game.
You did nothing wrong, just found it funny infact
King Leonidas would be ashamed of your Spear Skills :D
One piece of advice: always get and use the stone armor vs capra. It makes him trivial no matter the build.
50:37 Thanks for the new vocab word!
Haha the spear of the church make haste comment was pretty good.
I've never even played Dark Souls 1 or 2 but watch all of your vids, they are fuckin gold. Lol
"Now my coffee's cold". I hear that. Wasted many a coffee playing DS games.
You should've gone to the Demon's Souls Winged Spear Redeye Knights for advice. They know how to charge. And charge. And FREAKING CHARGE!
LOL, I wish you could actually do that attack yourself in with the winged spear. But there's no spear charge at all in Demon's souls unfortunately :(
@@PressContinue unfortunately not.
the puns are strong with this one
It fucking took me so long to figure out what you meant by "turtles" when I thought "don't you mean dogs".
Yeah took me ages to figure out why people called the turtle pope a dog as well
@@PressContinue I don't know why
50:55 we have this one too in France
It's called "bifle". Oh and great playthrought by the way
another insane run. also, a functional "this is where the real game begins"... hahahha!
50:54 don't worry, we the french have a word too for that
Nearly at 60k subs I remember when you were at 21k lol, keep up the good work dude
"Pointy handshake" LMAOOO
Finally i can sleep to a high quality video
Completely off topic but the pike in Elden Ring is very decent against dragons in my experience. With most weapons it's easy to keep missing the head but with the pike I rarely miss.
