    :) :) you should consider having a rubber boat in your back yard to float away when the next tusnami comes !!! or better live several miles inland... :)

    A lot of good information here. I'd recommend that if you're going to do a talking head video (especially at 20 minutes long) you break it up with much more media (photos, video, graphics, etc).

      Awesome. Make sure and take a jet boat trip up the Rogue river if you haven't(one of our favorite activities). We would suggest the long trip(the good stuff is farther upriver). We have offices in Portland and Coos Bay. Our team spends time all up and down the Coast though. Seth spends a lot of time on the Northern Coast but has family with a house in Gold Beach so he gets down there from time to time as well.

    Your comment about the lack of heavy traffic along Hwy 101 is WAY off the mark from March through August. That's half the year that it's almost bumper-to-bumper. The other half of the year? I agree, not too bad.

    • @LivingOnTheOregonCoast
      @LivingOnTheOregonCoast  2 роки тому +1

      Fair point. It can be bumper to bumper as you get into Seaside until Gearhart, and most of the way through Lincoln City even outside of peak season. But it's all relative. Many people watching this are from Portland or CA and the traffic on the Coast is nothing compared to those places.

      I rent an apartment in Brookings for elderly and disabled persons and was on a waiting list for 7 years. Finally moved in February 1st, 2022. Many people live in RVs and there are quite a few RV parks all along the coast. I lived that way for over a year and for me it wasn't an optimal lifestyle. Prepare to make many sacrifices if you go that route. The bottom line is that it is very difficult to find affordable rentals on the coast. You may try looking at the inland towns, Myrtle Point for example.

      Basic apartments around here cost $1000/month and up. Depending on your income there are some very decent subsidized apmts though. Is that an option for you? My rent is very good at Jerstad Manor. They have 3 empty apartments.

    Lots of good information, but maybe in the future include more cutaway pictures in the editing. Pictures or video that matchs up to the things your discussing. Long shots of you just talking and gesturing doesn't really help the content of the video

    There is too a Sales Tax! Oregon, like California, had a tax revolt that created a limited property tax. Its why the Oregon Government is so keen on finding new ways to tax often disguised by the name. Two years ago, the sales tax was initiated though called "corporate activity tax". This is a tax directly imposed on "gross receipts" on any business with gross receipts of as little as one million. Since most cash register software allows for sales taxes, one is now seeing this line added. The amount is small now; but like in California, it is the camel getting his head in the tent with the rest to follow. The Oregonians also love taxes being now mostly from California bringing disastrous socialism up with them. 2/3rd of those taxes proposed via the ballot are approved and mostly feed the public payrolls. There is a saying in Oregon, the public worker is paid twice as much for twice as long for half the productivity compared to the private sector. Oregon is ruled by Portland with the laws and regulations driven by Portland's problems. The bureaucratic demands on home building is so high that only expensive homes are worth building. Oregon is the first imposing statewide rent control. The eviction moratorium remains with the latest extension to the end of June 2022 for 28 months. With so many landlords now bankrupt, loosing there rentals to foreclosure, selling off their rentals to owner occupied to escape the abuse, and simply not going into that business; 50% of the rental stock was eliminated in 2021 alone. Oregon is chasing away private business, growing/adding bureaucracies, converting the middle class to one of only public workers, and attracting retirees who have cash flow from out of state or the lavish Public Employee Retirement System. Every year, additional burdens are placee on private businesses like high minimum wages, additional payroll taxes, and over the top responses to cold and flu viruses. This is not a place to come for a business unless its servicing the public bureaucracies. Heck, the schools here only do banker's hours four days a week in many places and even requiring parents provide the school books.
