  • That hot tub scene tho.
    Ain’t nobody was asking for emotional complexity from A Goofy Movie. But this movie decided to be good and now I have to do a Father’s Day review where I analyze Goofy’s character. Gwarsh.

      @@doom64mods50 there is a significant difference, with respect a person will not only do things willingly for someone else, but typically are happy to do it as a act of showing their adoration for the other individual.
      fear, it is quite the opposite. they don't want to do it, but they dread the consequences of what will happen if they don't do something the other person wants, so they begrudgingly do it and hide their real feelings while doing so. one is formed out of a positive bond and and isn't forced, the other is emotionally toxic and will causes distress for at least one of the individuals involved.

    Pete is definitely one of those parents who used their children success or existence to show how *amazing* they are in order to further their own ego. Basically egoistic parent

    Goofy honestly is the most down to earth charachter in the Disney canon
    The how to series besides funny shorts shows him in very human invirements
    Also the minnie mouse movie technicly exists
    But in the Christmas tales collection were Minnie works herself broken to give Mickey a fitting Christmas gift
    Only to not get her Christmas bonus in a pretty crushing scene

    “It’s like if Mickey Mouse said something like ‘Minnie, how could you betray me like this?’”
    In the game Kingdom Hearts 2 after he thinks Goofy was killed by their enemies, Mickey utters a quiet, vengeful, “They’ll pay for this.” And it is gold LOL
    great video. The hot tub scene was great on so many levels, and such a somber and tense moment.

    When I was younger I thought Pete was an asshole for snitching Max like that, and when I got older, and despite what Pete's intentions for that was, he had EVERY right to tell Goofy that his son betrayed his trust, god I loved this movie

    That Minnie Mouse movie you mentioned at the movie sounds like the premise of the Disney Junior shorts show Minnie's Bow Toons, where she, Daisy, and Cuckoo Loca (a character created for the show), run a business (albeit it's called a Bow-tique since they work with bows). Mickey And The Roadster Racers (renamed to Mickey Mouse Mixed Up Adventures) also continued this with the three of them also running a business called Happy Helpers.
    Back to the review at hand, it's definitely an interesting movie. While the movie had some of the same writers as Goof Troop (such as Jymm Magon) , the fact the director is someone not normally associated with television helped make it feel fresh for Goofy's character.

    The hot tub scene is not only the darkest scene in the movie, but one of the darkest scenes in Disney altogether.

    • @goldenvulture6818
      @goldenvulture6818 Рік тому +1

      I wouldn't say darkest. But certainly very serious.

    • @Savagewolver
      @Savagewolver Рік тому +5

      I wouldn’t say dark so much as frighteningly realistic. To call something dark is usually to see it as something inhuman that couldn’t happen in the real world but you could believe it actually happening. At least, that’s how I see it. Pete and Goofy’s talk is more or less a continuation from their conversation at the camp sight. Pete imparts his parenting techniques, and Goofy tries it to…typical comedic effect. He then turns it around and it seems to be working by letting Max decide where they go on their trip, not realizing Max would abuse this for a very hair-brained scheme. But, when Pete figures things out at the hotel courtesy of a slip of the tongue, he tells Goofy. But this isnt’ out of the goodness of Pete’s heart, but rather vindication to him personally for his beliefs. In a way, Pete’s right in that Max doesn’t respect his father and more or less manipulated his good nature, but it’s a matter of taking out the mote in a friend’s eye while sporting a beam in his own. Pete’s methods are far from noble seeing as he more or less gaslights his son into submission, which is a very real method used by less than stellar parents. Heck, Max’s methods are fairly realistic too, taking advantage of his single father who, on a good day, is fairly clueless and loves unconditionally. The sad thing is, Max is the only one that learns from his mistake in the end.

    I would love to have more emotional and Raw moments with these characters. Goofy here, Dasiy and Donald in the ducktales reboot, and Mickey in Epic Mickey are probably my favorite versions of them.
    I really hope they continue fleshing and humanizing them more often. I love silly characters, but without a little bit of reality they just don't feel- well real.

    The first time I officially watched A Goofy Movie, it was September 2013 and I was eight years old and my sister and I literally just drove to our new home (my family had just moved into a new mansion at that time) my sister and I arrived to it on a Friday after school, it was our first time being there. Disney channel was displaying a movie each Friday at that time (this all happened in Nigeria, where my roots are from). The Friday I moved into my new house was when they were showing A Goofy Movie, and it was great! The moment I walked into the mansion, I felt like I'd died and gone to heaven, because it looked that amazing back then (there was even a backyard swimming pool, even though it was small). And that night/weekend I saw A Goofy Movie and enjoyed every minute of it

    Honestly if you look in the goofy profile in the Wikipedia with in the Disney lore you will find out that goofy actually does kinda hate who he is a little bit because the fact that he causes so much problems for others he wishes that he was different at some point but he stays true to himself and this right here this movie right here really talks about what he goes through as a whole because people take advantage of him especially his kindness and his naivety even though he shows so much care for everyone around him. Hell even Mr. divorced himself in the form of Pete he shows respect for him to a degree but definitely that hot tub scene showed what kind of person and what kind of father goofy is and not even Max takes goofy for for the good father that he is until the very end I just hope that one day Disney+ does a show talking about the struggles that goofy goes through from all the medical damage that he’s been through because of the goofy tips on extreme sports to even how he had to take care of his son that creates a little bit of another falling out between him and his son who has his own son which would be cool to see goofy as a grandfather but yeah.

    everyone got used to the Goof Troop version of Goofy. they keep forgetting he does have a brain. he's not dumb all the time. he's a parent to that point. and yes that's the point about this movie. we got to accepted who we are. long as there's an understanding and no one's hurt.
    Max however. always making trouble and also get in trouble. he can be spoiled and we all know that part was on Goofy. that made his ego even higher about being "cool". he only tells the truth ether before things get crazy or when the damage was always done. and his emotions when he was a kid always make his dad think he's not a good parent. but at lest he knows when to stop being a brat when he does that to his father. in this movie and the next. he at lest grown out of half of the crap he pulled on his dad and P.J.
    if Goofy just sit and listen at the 1st half of the movie. than things wont turn out so bad. than again the movie would be different. it would've been...well goofy.

    I'm actually almost amazed that this movie is spawning philosophical and in-dept analysis? And comments about this one scene?
    Seriously people, it's Goofy. It's not 2001: a space oddyssey. Pete manipulated Goofy because he's a prick, Goofy's feelings got hurt because his son lied to him. That's all there is to it. How does this spawn so much discussion and fascination about this one scene?
