Thanks for this video, Marina. It is good to know that my over 15years experience will not go to waste when I move and I don’t have to start from the beginning. Also grateful for telling us the difference between Admin Officer in Nigeria and Admin Assistant in Canada.

This is a great relief Marina. It's been very discouraging for me to migrate to Canada thinking that my masters degree & 20+ years work experience will just go in the drain & start working from entry or odd jobs & do another masters degree in Canada. Thank you once more for letting me know that my foreign experience & education is still valuable.

Thanks Marina. This is one of your most valuable videos yet! And I have watched majority of them 98%. The most valuable points to me: career skills mapping (and the very concise example you used to explain what it is), research, and getting a career coach. Also the mention of Dr. Olubamiji's Career Competitiveness workshop (heard it first today). Many thanks.

Good morning Marina, Thank you so much this information. I am glad I came across this video at this time. I just landed in Canada as an international student. I have a concern regarding my program of study. I have a Diploma in social development and HND in Human resource management but the agent whom I paid for admission ended up securing an admission in Business for me. I decided to go for it just so I can come into Canada first. Now I am considering changing my program to a post graduate diploma in human resources management or even switching from business to a Diploma in Human resource management rather than continuing the business program. My experience back then in Nigeria is insurance management and lastly Administrative role. Kindly advice. I have from now till 9th of January 2023 to begin classes. Your response will be highly appreciated. Thanks

An ND will be considered a post secondary diploma. Accounting is a sought after profession so yes, you can get accounting jobs with the courses. However, if you want to rise to the top of the career, then you may consider a CPA down the road to access some top accounting jobs

I recently learnt about the NKE requirement to get into the HR body. I am considering putting in for the business diploma course with speciality in HR with Saskatchewan polytechnic online for 2 yrs (When I land in a couple of weeks from now)while I get an admin assistant / customer service job because I do not have HR experience.
What's your take on this route? What will you rather have me do?

    • @MARINAESIRI
      @MARINAESIRI  2 роки тому

The NKE is required to get the CPHR designation. It is a nice to have and not an absolute must have seeing that you will be fresh in HR. The HR diploma with sask polytechnic qualifies for the NKE Waiver which means that if you complete the diploma, the NKE will be waived for you. You will be better off completing the diploma and getting entry level HR jobs. If admin is a short term goal, then that is fine as well.

Hi Marina, this content came at the right time. I am in my final semester of MBA and have over 10 years banking experience in Niigeria. I subscribed to your channels in 2020 and always watched your contents which helped me a lot in my Canada journey. I was told to get customer service rep job bcos I might not be able to get a skilled job bcos of my lack of a Canadian experience.. I will like to pursue my career as a business analyst and maybe later transition to HR. what would you advice for me to do to get my dream job as a business analyst

Please discard that advice. You can get a job as a skilled professional even without Canadian experience. It is a function of your transferable skills and competencies. Please check out the live session I had with a BA trainer and contact her. You will be well on your way to making a good income/career with BA.

Thank you so much Marina. Can you help me with this question of mine? Am a Quantity Surveyor in Nigeria with over 10years experience. As a Professional course, I was told becoming a member of Canadian institute of Quantity Surveyor was key. But with this video, I want to ask if it will affect relocation for me since am not a member of the CIQS?

@Ewenniwe Henry-eze, i dont understand the question. Are you already in the process of relocating to Canada? Please clarify

@@MARINAESIRI Thank you so much for giving time and attention to questions asked. Yes am looking at it . Preparing for the ielts as we speak. But divergent information makes it confusing, seeing that I would want to practice in my field of study (Quantity Surveying) when I migrate to Canada.
Is Canadian experience a must for me and will it affect my migration?
Age-wise, will be 40years old this year. Thinking of the PNP route too because of it

Thank you Marina for this! God bless you. What is your suggestion for someone who studied agriculture, has experience in banking and will like to switch to Agriculture here in Canada?

Amen! You should be considering a province like Saskatchewan where Agriculture is big. It is a very lucrative field with many prospects.

@@MARINAESIRI thank you Marina, I am actually in Saskatchewan at the moment, but most of the Agricultural roles I find require that i have some work experience in the agric sector.

Do you already have social work experience? If you have no experience, it is a bachelor's degree you need. You may be able to get away with a diploma if you have previous social work education and experience.

Hello Marina. My name is Thompson from Nigeria planning to relocate to Canada to continue my studies.
I got admission for a 2-year Master’s program last year Fall, and started remotely while waiting for my Visa. Regrettably, my visa was denied and I couldn't defer due to the school policy.
To the glory of God, my study permit reapplication was approved on the 30th of May 2022 after completing my first year remotely; however, my school is threatening to withdraw my admission because I got a 'C' in a course.
Now, I wish to change my program to a 1-year certification course from a college, but trying to be careful concerning its implication on my status as a student and the 3-year PGWP.
Please, I humbly seek for advice and guidance.
