Great stuff! There's a lot I didn't see from my 3 day trip a few years back. Will definitely try to revisit soon, s it's so close to Athens I'm thinking it would be a nice play to chill for a couple of days before heading home after a longer trip to the Cyclades...

We stayed in Aegina for two weeks and loved it. You could get around easily by bus most of the time and by taxi when you couldn't. We stayed in the small northern fishing village of Souvala. Perfect if you don't want bustle where you're actually staying. Good beaches, excellent tavernas, friendly locals. We stayed at the Milos Hotel which was family run by lovely people and had it's own pool and bar. I can't find it online anymore so don't know if it's been sold up and renamed. Our favourite taverna by the town beach was run by Thrassos Kotsanis, a former Greek international and Olympiakos footballer and a lovely guy. The food there and all of Souvala was outstanding. I don't know if Thrassos still owns that taverna, as I noticed he had become the manager of the Ella Mesa Hotel, just a little uphill from the Milos. We enjoyed Aegina itself greatly, but also used it as a base for trips to Athens, Poros, Mykonos, Hydra, Ancient Corinth and even Agamemnon's citadel at Mycenae. We wanted a place that gave us easy access to other places, local places of interest and a pretty place to chill out when we felt like it. That's what we got from Aegina and Souvala.
