  • www.morepowert... Model year 2017 brought big changes to the powertrain of the F-150 3.5L Ecoboost over the previous year. Ford's new Dual Fuel system combines port injection along with direct injection to alleviate carbon buildup concerns, while potentially increasing the fuel system's capacity for higher-than-stock power output. Also new is a 10-speed automatic transmission. This means big changes in the programming of the vehicle. We had a considerable task of developing new tunes that continue More Power Tuning's reputation for unlocking the performance potential of Ford's Ecoboost engines.
    The nGauge is a highly advanced yet easy to use programmer and data logger that looks good on your dash. When coupled with MPT Tunes, one easily gains an increase in horsepower, torque and fuel economy from their vehicle.
    The nGauge can swap MPT tunes in minutes and even return to stock, making it 100% reversible.
    MPT was a pioneer for tuning the Ecoboost F150. We've spent more hours than we'd like to admit on the dyno developing and refining our series of MPT tunes. We've taken our own personal ecoboost truck to the drag strip and raced it. We daily drive our vehicles in order to know the vehicle inside and out. This knowledge has helped us develop MPT tunes that are purpose built with results that will surprise you.
    PR-X, also known as Performance Race Xtreme, is our top-performance tune for the 2017 Ecoboost Trucks. This is by far the preferred tune on this truck due to the ridiculous power gains over stock. The truck feels so much lighter with the increased throttle response and part throttle boost. Wide open throttle boost is increased over stock by +/- 15% which equals out to around 3/5 psi, depending on the rpm. Peak boost is around 20psi +/-.
    With this tune you are looking at huge increases in low end torque and acceleration, faster 0-60 times, quicker 1/4 mile results, shift points optimized with a focus on performance.
    The shift points in normal mode will hit all 10 gears, with downshifts tightened up putting you in the right gear at the right time. This means power to the wheels when the driver demands it.
    Sport Mode and Tow Haul mode retain most all of the positive features from Ford with minor tweaks to improve over all feel.
    All driving modes drastically improve throttle response and feel, but click to Sport mode and this improvement is multiplied. Sport mode has a noticeable increase in throttle response above that of the already increased base mode. The PR-X tune is only available for premium fuels of 91 octane or better.

      This truck had already been tuned for quite a bit, so we recorded a run with what it had been running, then returned to stock to capture that for comparison. Primary goal of strapping it down was to validate what we were seeing on the road. Secondary goal was to capture some of that zazz on video for you folks.

    How much difference in 0-60 and 1/4 mile on my 2017 3.5 eco boost? I have an S&B air intake already. Thanks

      islander son you can dyno tune anything... as long as it has efi. A carburetor is old school changing out jets.

    Stock 3.5 eco has 370 hp why did your reading say 307hp stock. Is that wrong

      Jason Cornett There is drive train loss, it makes 375hp at the crank stock.

      375 HP is the engine rating, 307 is what's left on the wheels. Imagine they get 430 about on the wheels, means the engine puts out 500+ this moment.

    Makes me stoked I’ve been trying to figure out what my 91 octane tune added so that’s good I can’t find 93 anywhere to try my 93prx tune I heard for every 10 gals of 91 add 2 gals of e85 but idk if that’s true or not

    Man you guys REALLY spun it up hard with the tune! I saw the runs were all up around 6,500+ rpm's. I know the coyote lives to scream but can these ecoboost motors take that high of rpm's? Valve springs and everything hold up? I always thought the 3.5 ecoboost was more of a lower rpm motor.

    I don't really understand the tuning process. I currently have a 2017 f-150 3.5 tuned with another tuner. I'm sure not getting 400+ hp. What do I need to change that?

      We can set you up with a more in depth custom tune over e-mail. For each tune we're building, you get to choose the fuel (87, 91, 93, or ethanol blend) and type of tune. The main two are Performance Race Xtreme and Daily Tow. They're both performance tunes, covering both engine and transmission.
      PRX for all-out performance, just can't tow with it. Daily Tow is a bit less aggressive, great for everyday driving whether towing or not, usually with some improvement to fuel economy. Recommend getting both (even if you don't tow) in the highest octane available to you.

    Turbos should be fine as long as there is good oil in the engine like Mobil 1 full synthetic

      A good estimate is that 100hp = 1 second faster. A lot of variables involved but that's a good guess.

    Sounds stupid but are you guys able to make a tune for 87 octane ? After hurricane Harvey 93. Octane is pretty hard find in Houston and seems like gas is going up

    What is the price of this tune? Is it worth turning a 2019 4x2 3.5..? I.more less would need it for passing hwy 60 plus mph... what can be expected ect... any information would be appreciated

      T&S Ludwig $500-$700. Definitely the most bang for your buck and worth it.

    I have a 2015 Ford Expedition with a 3.5L Ecoboost twin turbo engine. I installed a K&N 63 series air induction, free flow exhaust, deleted the 2 catalytic converters, stock muffler and resonator. I replaced the stock muffler with a 40 series Flowmaster muffler.

    peak tq stock is at 3500 rpm, does the transmission not let it pull from that low?

      The performance tune is ok for daily driving, but not recommended for towing. They do have tow tunes though. Definitely get an oil catch/separator too.

    this just goes to show that a tune really is the only important mod to make to your truck, and that talk about downpipes, CAI, Catback exhaust can take a hike, jus tune it and your good to go

      Brad not those exact tunes. There are differences between the tune. But you can expect similar power gains.

      @@2KCamaroZ28SS I tried 5 star first, then switched to MPT. 5 star tune was not as refined and my knock sensor was detecting 7(red) while MPT has not gone past 3.5(green). You would think they both are good, however I have found that MPT is better off the shelf and I prefer their customer service over 5 star.

      Tune files are bespoke to each vehicle and can accommodate a wide range of modifications. Those you listed are among the most popular beginner upgrades, definitely no problem.

    What are the AFRs looking like on these tunes? I see a axis for it on the boost chart but no line plotted.

      Right, the AFR is not plotted on the dyno graph because the factory widebands are much more accurate than a tail pipe sniffer. We are logging while on the dyno and have the actual lambda matching desired.

    This is a stock engine no mods with a tune?? Big difference... Is this a programmer with the tune built in or is this something a shop has to do? Just bought a 2018 and put 35s on it would love to have my power back... Lol

      Hey Matt, This is a stock engine without mods. The programmer allows you to switch between various tunes, or return to stock. No need to take it to a shop, just order the tuner + tunes online.       If you want to get the most hp out of your truck just install a cold air intake,perform a custom tune with a 93 octane and you will see the difference, I am about to do that 😁!!

    Hey I wanna do this tune to my 17 but tuning makes me nervous about voiding my warranty. Any customers that have had problems related to any tunes? Do tunes change for where you live? I live in edmonton, alberta, canada.

      So I bought a 14 used obviously but got a bumper to bumper warranty through my bank and can take the truck anywhere I want to have work done if it needs so I don’t have any issue with warranty work I just return to stock and kinda give the shop a head up and they just keep there mouth shut for the work

      Mustang D best220 sport mouse doesn't affect hp in any way. All it does is affect shift points and throttle sensitivity.

    I just dynoed my 17 and had 290 hp and 420 tq bone stock in 7th gear then did it in 5th ,got 320 hp and tq dropped to 380.

      Matt G more hp than the raptor. Keep in mind factory hp and torque numbers are based off of at the crank number. At the wheel numbers are always going to be lower than what the vehicle is making at the crank.

      It’s not gonna void the warranty. It’s by the ecu and a programmer. Just reset it back if you feel like it’s gonna void it.
      You can throw a procharger on a truck and it won’t void the warranty unless that was the cause if your engine blows up or something in the trans Blows up. Than yeah than it’s void.

      Brendan McCarthy Wrong. It will leave foot prints on the ecm, Ford will look at that and see the HP/TQ curves are way above stock there for they will tell you to fuck off. That's what happened to my buddy.

      Dick Burns is correct. I was a ford tech for 34 years. ford started doing this when they lost a lawsuit over a 6.0 diesel that they refused to repair under warranty do to pcm reflash caused piston melt down. Back then there was no way to prove a reflash. The new PCM now leave foot prints of all unauthorized reprograms. Bottom line is if you installed a tune on your truck your powertrain warranty is now void.

      Eugene Conner and how many engines have they replaced for free?? Im guessing none. The first thing the dealer looks for is if the ecm was tuned.

      Rzr1000 Xp then you have something wrong with your truck lmfao. Bone stock I can blow tires off with traction on. On the tune I can do an 1/8th mile burnout with traction off.

    The description says that the shift points in normal mode will hit all 10 Gears. Does this mean that the transmission wont skip gears when up shifting while cursing with light throttle? (eg: 1-3-5) Or just that the transmission will hit all 10 gears when you are full throttle?
