Totally agree about the verses of Read the Room sounding "mean". That's a great word for it.

The reason you never caught Wall of Eyes is in 5/4 is because the upbeats are still even. The rhythm section doesn't actually accentuate the 5/4 feel. It's not until the chorus when the guitars come to the forefront you notice that it's definitely not in 4/4, and y'know Thom literally counting to 5.

While I do love soft songs, I have a tendency to like a specific type of closer for albums, idk, but I just found this one to feel a little more climactic. Sometimes I like reserved closers like on a lot of albums I listen to, but I love a good epic closer, skirting on the surface just didn't jibe with me, I'm glad it does for you, just another song to be loved. Also I like teleharmonic a lot more after some relistening, not that you asked or anything, but just saying
