So i've been through hell trying to fit this video under UA-cam terms! Now i understand guys who says "full video on patreon" more, because it's not the video I wanted to upload, but it's the one I ended up with. Now I understand youtube's policy much better and next time I will try to do everything much faster and better.

Happy to hear someone enjoy the score as much as me.
I was maybe about 16 (early 2000's), when they showed Shawshank Redemption on national television. It has stayed with me ever since. It's hard to argue with it being one of the best movies ever, and it is definitely a top 5 for me - it's hard to pick just one.

I was working as an editor in Hollywood during the 90s. Editors will often add music from other soundtracks as a placeholder to punch up a scene until the film is properly scored. Whenever I had a really emotional scene, my go-to music was "Brooks' Theme" from the Shawshank soundtrack. The only problems I had were when the director fell in love with it too much and disliked everything that the composer came up with.

A great story. All actors delivered a superb performance. Morgan Freeman's narration… Perfect. This tarnishes it for me, however. The escape would not be possible in real life. Let me explain. If he was covering up the hole with a poster, when crawled through it to escape… How did he ever cover it back up? If it was taped at the top and let fall down. When the warden pressed on it, it would have been pushed in. Instead, when he poked his finger on it, it tore just like it was taped flat against the wall.

I’ve done 2 years in prison twice. I agree with Red except that I don’t think it takes that long to get used to it. The human mind is extremely adaptable to its environment. I had an out date that wasn’t far away so that kept me from getting too sucked in, but I can imagine that if it wasn’t for that I could get used to it and it wouldn’t be too bad. Especially being locked up 30+ years. It starts to become all that you remember.

I have watched this great movie more times than the numbers of tears you shed watching it. I was in my mid thirties when i first saw this classic way back in the 90's on cable. It is one of the few movies that it doesn't matter what you are doing or where you're supposed to be, but if you see it on screen you are stopping everything and watching it to the end. Its crazy to think that it just did not do well at all at the box office, but is now considered one of the best, if not the best movie of all time.

A point to be made about the movie's title; Andy is the main character, but it is Red's Redemption. Andy didn't commit a crime so there was nothing to redeem. Red did commit a horrible crime by sabotaging the brakes on his wife car to collect a large life insurance policy she had come into. Ended up killing the neighbor and the neighbor's child due to brakes failing. Red found his redemption after Andy escaped prison, Red finally accepted responsibility for his actions, voiced his sincere regret/remorse for the horrible crime he committed, said let's cut the bullshit to the parole board, and gained his freedom / redemption.

I don't think Stephen King's books are pure Horror, are there horrific things in them YES, but I think they are more psychological thrillers... not horror. He is one of the best writers of Character development ever. He has an uncanny ability to feel the Human condition regardless of ever being in that situation himself. It's a terrific film, with an equally gorgeous Thomas Newman score.

Agree. Amazing movie! And the soundtrack is unbelievable!
Unfortunately, I've already seen "the Green Mile". Otherwise, I could do a "sequel" 😁

An absolutely great movie. Both Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins put in stellar performances. Thank you.

This movie is so good. I guess that's why it's the highest rated movie on IMDb and has been forever.

I really enjoyed this reaction. This movie is amazing, everything about it is great. I particularly like the final line - "I hope" - so fitting. I also like how you pointed out how young Morgan Freeman looked in his prison photo - that's actually a photo of his real life son. Cheers from Hart, Michigan, USA!

Thanks a lot! I didn't know that it's Morgan Freeman's son! Wow! I really loved this movie and it's narrative - "hope". And hope is a really dangerous thing!

Hello Lera! Shout out from the US Marine Corps! I just found your channel and I'm so glad the first movie you did a movie review to is The Shaw Shank Redemption! This movie is just epic! Great reaction to the hole in the wall scene! You should definitely do more movie reviews! A few great ones are Brides Maids, Liar Liar, SMILE, JAWS, Nobody, Man From Uncle, Back to the Future trilogy, Star Wars Trilogy (If your going to watch Star Wars you have to watch Star Wars IV A New Hope, Star Wars V Empires Strikes Back, and Star Wars VI Return Of The Jedi first! You have to watch 4, 5, and 6 first b4 1, 2, and 3! Do not watch I, II, and III first! Anyways would love to see you do more movie reactions! Loved watching ya and now you can say you made a US Marine cry! ❤🤍💙💛

Did Lera say "Enemas" at the beginning? Yeah, those can be scary. This is my first time watching one of your videos and I really enjoyed it! Even though you said you've watched tons of movies you could always watch and react to them again along with your UA-cam friends. I hope you do more movies and get a lot more subscribers!

Best movie ever and the best reaction ever. I’ve seen this movie from day one hundreds of times because I’m a huge fan of Stephen King as I should be living in the same state as Mr King not from his town. Lived in Buxton, Portland and have driven by both prisons mentioned in the movie. So all the scenes hit home because I actually know what they look like compared to the movie. Ok now read the book plus you started your life long journey to keep watching this genius work of art called the Shawshank Redemption over and over. Compare the novella to the movie and a little secret is each time you watch the movie you’ll find something new that you didn’t see the time before. Have fun and enjoy !

Hi I really enjoyed you're reaction, I think I unknowingly needed someone to react with and you helped me so honestly. Thank you so much!! I've subscribed and I hope you do more movie reactions....I hope....(Morgan Freeman voice melts)...If you're ever stuck on a film to react to, shoot me a message I'd love to suggest. In the meantime know you are loved and we all look forward to seeing more xx

This one and Forrest Gump, the great contenders for Oscar in the same year, one of the greatest movies you can get. The winner between these 2 was just a matter of luck.

I really liked your emotional reaction to this amazing movie. The music is really something beautiful in this one. There are movies out there who everytime I watch them bring me to tears. Like Forrest Gump for example. But the movie or anime that always shatters me is "Grave of the fireflies". I have never heard music that utterly destroyed me like in that movie. So if you haven´t watched it yet I can only recommand you watchin it. Thanks for the reaction. Can´t wait for the next one.
