    Would fire up fine if it was 6 cylinder standard shift.

    There is no way that starter was dead.
    Either not in neutral or park.
    Or not grounded.A screwdriver to the solenoid Would have at least been an attempt. Its sad to see people trying to do something that they know very little about.

    You guys might want to try to put it in park again and wiggle the steering column because sometimes the neutral safety switch will mess up

    I HAVE the 3/4 ton farm truck...1965 .c20 big 6cylinder. For sale...or driver side door and extra hood..........$2500.00 this one runs !!

    You cannot push start an automatic it will not work

    Your negative batter cable needs to go to a solid metal surface to be able to ground good. Most of em bolt to the first exhaust manifold bolt.
