You southern guys are so lucky! Up here in the midwest all that awesome old iron is much harder to come by...especially in cheap project form like that! An unrestored driver 67-72 Chev pickup has been my dream since i was a teenager (a few decades ago...). Thanks for the cool content Garth!
I'm a northeastern indiana farm kid so not only were most of my projects rusty they were farm trucks usually square body trucks 2 and 4wd and a few Chevy first series S10 truck had 4 different ones of those,, and the last two farm trucks I had were a well used and beat midnight blue and frost gloss white 86 chevy k20 custom deluxe except the faded red 83 single headlight GMC High Sierra k15 doghouse minus the hood and the one I traded it for was a early 94 Chevy extended cab short bed Z71 onyx gloss black with a quicksilver center stripe running down the sides and the tailgate, and the current truck is a northern Ohio 2000 dodge ram laramie slt quad cab long bed gloss black with most of the white pinstripe 5.2 litre 318 V8 magnum 46 RE AT manual shift transfer case lever on the floor.
You always get so excited with these projects. It's easy to miss the obvious. I like that though it adds realism to your show, nothings staged. Your a good man dude, genuine.
The yellow car is a chevy vega, it and the astre was the first of the 71-80 gm H-body. It would appear that the daughter may like the hulk. I have had a 68 and 69 Chevy, and a 71 gmc. Very cool trucks. That one is in very good shape. Can't wait to see where this goes.
I can see this being a shop truck once it is back to running in decent shape. I'm not a fan of General Motors vehicles, but I see the value of a 67 GMC pickup being saved and restored to a very good condition daily driver. I have a friend from my elementary school days who bought his dad's 67 long bed Chevrolet stepside truck from him. His dad bought it new, and he enjoys driving that old truck around. My friend used it for his work truck, but now uses it for leisure activities. Since GMC trucks are more rare, I can see this eventually being restored to use as both a daily driver and an occasional show truck, stock modified. Too many people suggest chopping and shortening the truck; I say leave that alone and eventually fix it up with rusted body parts getting repaired and painted. I do recommend replacing the rear cracked window with a sliding rear window from a C R Laurence dealer. They're the company that started the sliding rear windows on many trucks carrying camper tops, giving the truck owner the option to have access to the camper, but still have a window rather than a crawl through boot. I have a 59 Ford F100 that I installed a sliding rear window on, to replace a cracked rear window. It is more comfortable to ride in it with the rear window open during the summer months.
Gmc used a different nu.bering system. Chevy was c10 and gmc was c15. C was the 2 wheel drive models and k was 4 wheel drive models. And GM still uses that c/k letters today
I drove a 68 GMC for an old farmer i worked for as a kid! That yellow car in the row of camaro's was a chevy vega... about a 71-74. That would be cool as a drag car!
Cool truck. Yellow car is a 70 Vega - good year. Rough or not, somebody will want that one. That 4 door Chevy 300 in the back by the Falcon is a 62 Nova 300. My dad had the 2 door, that he put a 283 in ... and a 4 speed ... and alllll the 70s stuff. Oh, and took me to school in it when I was little. Loud as a M'fer. The R sticker on the GMC drivers door is the early 2000"s Renthal sticker. Motocross/ATV bars. Yea man, time warp stuff!
Hi Garth greetings from Scotland UK love the channel we dont see a lot of American iron over here ,although I have 2 VW splitscreen one came from Pennsylvania, and one from witchata falls Texas, keep up the good work.
this video just introduced me to the channel, and holy smokin sausages that car yard is something that I WISH was possible to be in such conditions up north. Good thing it isn't though, unless you want to try and assemble the rust back together, instead of workin on a car. EDIT: Seems the owner of the truck was a bit of a metalhead. Good taste in music. Korn, Megadeth..... probably lots more but they just didnt put stickers on it. I'd give it a nice bluetooth radio so I can blast some good stuff while driving (not so loud that other people can hear the exact song from 30 feet away while driving, of course. That's called "an easy way to get hearing damage") but aside from that, go nuts how ya see fit! Not that I can tell you what to do anyways, it's your truck, not mine, haha!
That’ll be a nice horse once you get it finished up. It runs pretty good. You were moving kind of fast but just looking at the wheels is it a 3/4 ton? If it is, that would be a very cool shop truck for you. 🤘🤘🤘
That's a VEGA and they are one of my favorites. The original aluminum block engines need steel liners, but they are lightning with a Mouse and can easily take Iron Dukes. Most are rotted to hell, so if you find one that isn't, it's a gem. You don't remember the Mad Max Vega family van that loses it's radiator?
That yellow car you did not know what it was is a early Vega the ones with the camaro looking front end. cool car but like you said really beat up. That 4 door Nova is cool would make a fun drag car for sure.
I know you are more of a Chevy person, but if that Lincoln is straight and the frame is decent, that would be a great (big) project. If I was just a few hundred miles closer I would be down there and grab it myself.
Kickin GMC truck! The Old white Ford right beside it is awesome too! I think it's a 1967? Or around there. It' would be great to get both of them if you could but that might be impossible. Oh man!! The Yellow car you couldn't identify is a 1973 ish. Chevy Vega! Man those are Hard to find now days! They are KICKIN BIG TIME! If you could get your hands on one. Apparently you can LOL. They came with optional V8's and they made the Monza Spider (Same car different name and front grill)
I wonder if it would be easy to attach a wooden beam to that bumper, that might make the truck easy to push with other vehicles, or push other vehicles backwards.
You can use a sewing needle to pop out the ignition switch then you can crank it with a screwdriver....There should be a hole in front of the ignition switch... insert needle and tumbler will come out.... Anywho nice Georgia Milk Cow.... color is cool...
Hey man I finally got my driver license I hope all is well with yoy and life's is a journey and full of friends and family and I hope one day we can work on cars together cause I believe we are all family one way or another I just hope we can be friends one day and enjoy working on cars and making eachother laugh 😂 I hope you are doing alright and I hope all is well with your family I just hope you will let me know you when we can be friends I want you to know that God's with you and please stay strong and take care of your self and yoyr kids they grow up so fast and I hope to see a video of yoy working on something awesome soon take care garth garage
I believe it has mismatched pulleys also the water pump and the crank pulley but I have done that alot myself but it can lead to serious issues trying to line everything up
Chevy 2 or Nova which ever you like to call it and that was a Chevy Vega had the old Iron Duke 4 cylinders in them. The truck was most likely 3 on the tree originally. No power breaks either.
Hey Chris. Send me the low down on the 60's mustang. If it's intact, I may be interested in it. Take some pics and give it the once over for me. Thanks. Ken
I've dealt with a few of those Amazon eBay distributors and in every one of them the module failed within 6 months. I ended up buying some NOS module's to replace those Chinese module's.

The yellow car is a Chevy Vega. In order to change the timing on them just grab the timing belt and give it a yank ang that will change your timing. those things are a joke to work on. At least the four cylinders are.

Aerodynamics is a big part of highway gas mileage and Gen3 comaroes look pretty good on that score. So do you think it would be possible to ressurrect a recycled gen3 hypermiler for Greta? This is doubly true if the back is big enough to save motel bills.

CHEVY VEGA!! Oh man I don't think you understand the Awesomeness of the 197? Chevy Vega (Monza? couldn't see) The Yellow car in the row of Camaro's you weren't sure what it is. THAT is a great car to make into a a rock n roller! LOL. Rear wheel drive came with Chevy 350ci often as well and small and looks sweet once it has some wider wheels with mags etc. THAT would be AWESOME!!
@tcanthony2 that 68-72 bumpside is a workhorse when equipped with either a 360FE or 390FE. I inherited my uncle's 68 long bed styleside when he passed away. He bought it new; 3 speed, plain package with the white steel grille and bumper. The only options he had on it beside the 360FE V8 was the AM radio.
@@garthsgraveyardgarage that 390FE makes the Ford F100 bumpside more desireable to others looking for the bumpsides. The combination of the 390FE with the C6 automatic commands premium prices. By the color of the F100, I suspect it's between a 70-72 longbed Styleside F100. That truck was probably built in the Dallas Ford factory. My 59 and 68 F100s came from the San Jose California factory.
Like your channel. Can't wait for the next video
The yellow car is a Vega. And the Chevy 4 door was a Nova. '62-65
Thank ya!
I am looking for a 1976 Ford truck.
Great job
Cool old GMCv nice score!!
Good job dude. Hello from Saskatchewan Canada 🇨🇦 love all the old Gm trucks
The rear bumper was a dealer put on, different areas got other options. Another great Chevy truck. Thanks Garth

I love watching your videos they are entertaining to watch. Can’t wait to see more 👍
Love the junkyard great c10
C15 was the model number for the GMC. Chevy used c10
You always get so excited with these projects.

The rear bumper allows the tailgate to hang down complete
that chevy 2 in the back next to the falcon would be cool to fix i know i would it looks like a 62 or 63 maybe
Isn't straight starting fluid a bit harsh? Junkyard Digs uses brake cleaner when not mixed with old gasoline.
It has not big problems. It seems good so far. It will be a good truck

THAT is a great car to make into a a rock n roller! LOL. Rear wheel drive came with Chevy 350ci often as well and small and looks sweet once it has some wider wheels with mags etc. THAT would be AWESOME!!
Black valve covers…. Is there a Target sticker on the engine ?
Negative
That Ford next to it would be worth fixing too. Bumps are starting to get expensive.
It has the 390 and unfortunately not for sale.
Hey is the Cadillac for sale ? VICTOR from Palmdale CA.
I'd have to ask.
