Today's video is a fun, lighthearted one that I recorded last week but was only able to finish editing today. I show five fall favorites of mine -- a knitted quilt that I'm currently working on, some nice yarn that I'm making it with, the new SmartStix knitting needles from Jimmy Beans Wool, some nifty new pens I bought from Jet Pens, and interesting historical information about the book Dracula.

Hi Kristine! Congrats on your award! That is quite awesome! 2 weekends ago, Colorado had a blizzard and at my house, we brought in a huge pile of firewood and had the fireplace going for the whole day and lamb stew cooking on the stove top for 8 hours or something like that and the husband and I were rewatching Grimm while I crochet preemie hats and being cozy under a crochet blanket that I designed and completed from a few years ago. Wow! Romania! I'm so jealous! I love Dracula by Bram Stoker as well. Have you by chance read Dracula the Un-Dead by Dacre Stoker (Bram's Great Nephew)? It's apparently a sequel to Dracula based on Bram's notes. Are you planning to read it? If not, why not? I would like to crochet a quilt but I'm not a big fan of sewing a hundred squares together and definitely not a fan of weaving in a million ends. LOL. Maybe I'll convert one into a C2C graphgan or work it all in one piece row by row and just change colors accordingly. LOL.

Hello -- so nice to hear from you! We had our first snow last week, only an inch, but I'm not ready for winter yet. It sounds like you were nice and cozy being snowed in, though. I haven't read Dracula the Un-Dead ...maybe I will sometime. I'm not usually drawn to horror fiction, but sometimes I'm looking for a spooky book to read in October. Oh yes, and I'm definitely not a fan of weaving in a million ends, either. Don't remind me, haha! 💜

Hi Kristine. Thank you for all the information about Dracula and it's history in this video found it fascinating. I couldn't read the book, I'm a scaredy cat! Love the look of the new needles. The blanket is amazing. I'll have to check my stock to see what I've got, I think I'm ready to make a bigger project after all the little bits I've been making for Xmas. Having eight grand children I'm always busy making them something! Loved this video xxJane

I have made the Log Cabin blanket by verypink knits. It resembles a quilt in appearance. My favorite pens are Sakura Pigma Microns and Papermate Inkjoy gel pens. I prefer to watch Halloween themed reruns of favorite shows.

Really enjoyed the audio book of Dracula. Currently I am knitting several requests from nieces and nephews. They have included hats, bunnies, toeless socks for Flip Flops in winter (we live in FL). Also making myself a sweater and lightweight cowl. And a knit basket for a Christmas present. Really enjoy your podcasts.

The Dracula discussion was interesting, thanks! I'm currently knitting the Team USA Hat in UConn colors for when we attend UConn football games to support my daughter who is in the marching band. I also have socks and a sweater on the needles (Ravello by Isabel Kraemer). Don't think I'll knit a quilt anytime soon, but maybe a blanket someday. And those pens were interesting and I think they'd make a nice gift.

I'm trying to learn to knit again. I might try the quilt because I can knit it one square at a time. I used pens with cartridges in them when I was going to junior college. I don't remember them being so expensive, but that was 50 years ago. Apparently 18 year old me could afford things that 68 year old me can't. They were my favorite type of pen.

Hi Kristine. A fair number of artist channels feature reviews of various pens etc. Two great sources are: Steve Mitchell from The Mind of Watercolor AND Teoh Yi Chie. Also, a tad off topic perhaps, but for people who crochet, there is a book that was first printed in 1994 called "Country Afghans" - The Vanessa-Ann Collection. Most of the patterns in this book are quilt-looking.

The quilt looks beautiful! Not sure about the interchangeable Smartsticks. The price is about double what Zing interchangeable cost. The advantages are nice but way over priced. And while Zings may look like knock-off Signatures, they sure don't knit like them. I have both but Signatures are always my first choice.

I’m working on sweaters...the Floozy with our knitting group, and the Anker’s Cardigan, which I had to frog and start over because apparently I just make up numbers when swatching for gauge. 😑 Shirley Jackson’s, “The Haunting of Hill House”, is my most favorite scarey book. The new Netflix series is good, but nothing compared to the original. 🤭😧😲

My current faves are several sets I bought on sale at JoAnns for 75 cents each set!!! Love the idea of a "knitted quilt", but too expensive for me right now.
